Reconciling the X(3872) with the near-threshold enhancement in the D^0\bar{D}^{*0} final state

We investigate the enhancement in the D^0\bar{D}^0π^0 final state with the mass M=3875.2\pm 0.7^{+0.3}_{-1.6}\pm 0.8 MeV found recently by the Belle Collaboration in the B\to K D^0\bar{D}^0π^0 decay and test the possibility that this is yet another manifestation of the well-established resonance X(3872). We perform a combined Flatte analysis of the data for the D^0\bar{D}^0π^0 mode, and for the π^+π^- J/ψmode of the X(3872). Only if the X(3872) is a virtual state in the D^0\bar{D}^{*0} channel, the data on the new enhancement comply with those on the X(3872). In our fits, the mass distribution in the D^0\bar{D}^{*0} mode exhibits a peak at 2-3 MeV above the D^0\bar{D}^{*0} threshold, with a distinctive non-Breit-Wigner shape.

Two-photon decays of hadronic molecules

In many calculations of the two--photon decay of hadronic molecules, the decay matrix element is estimated using the wave function at the origin prescription, in analogy to the two-photon decay of parapositronium. We question the applicability of this procedure to the two-photon decay of hadronic molecules for it introduces an uncontrolled model dependence into the calculation. As an alternative approach, we propose an explicit evaluation of the hadron loop. For shallow bound states, this can be done as an expansion in powers of the range of the molecule binding force. In the leading order one gets the well-known point-like limit answer. We estimate, in a self-consistent and gauge invariant way, the leading range corrections for the two-photon decay width of weakly bound hadronic molecules emerging from kaon loops. We find them to be small. The role of possible short-ranged operators and of the width of the scalars remains to be investigated.

Parity doublers in chiral potential quark models

The effect of spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry over the spectrum of highly excited hadrons is addressed in the framework of a microscopic chiral potential quark model (Generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model) with a vectorial instantaneous quark kernel of a generic form. A heavy-light quark-antiquark bound system is considered, as an example, and the Lorentz nature of the effective light-quark potential is identified to be a pure Lorentz-scalar, for low-lying states in the spectrum, and to become a pure spatial Lorentz vector, for highly excited states. Consequently, the splitting between the partners in chiral doublets is demonstrated to decrease fast in the upper part of the spectrum so that neighboring states of an opposite parity become almost degenerate. A detailed microscopic picture of such a "chiral symmetry restoration" in the spectrum of highly excited hadrons is drawn and the corresponding scale of restoration is estimated.

Confinement and parity doubling in heavy-light mesons

In this paper, we study the chiral symmetry restoration in the hadronic spectrum in the framework of generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio quark models with instantaneous confining quark kernels. We investigate a heavy-light quarkonium and derive its bound-state equation in the form of a Schroedingerlike equation and, after the exact inverse Foldy-Wouthuysen transformation, in the form of a Diraclike quation. We discuss the Lorentz nature of confinement for such a system and demonstrate explicitly the effective chiral symmetry restoration for highly excited states in the mesonic spectrum. We give an estimate for the scale of this restoration.

Coupled-channel model for charmonium levels and an option for X(3872)

The effects of charmed meson loops on the spectrum of charmonium are considered, with special attention paid to the levels above open-charm threshold. It is found that the coupling to charmed mesons generates a structure at the D \bar{D}* threshold in the 1++ partial wave. The implications for the nature of the X(3872) state are discussed.

The radiative decays $ϕ\toγa_0/f_0$ in the molecular model for the scalar mesons

We investigate the radiative decays of the $ϕ$ meson to the scalar mesons $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(980)$. We demonstrate that, contrary to earlier claims, these decays should be of the same order of magnitude for a molecular state and for a compact state and, therefore, the available experimental information is consistent with both, a molecular as well as a compact structure of the scalars. Thus, the radiative decays of the $ϕ$ meson into scalars establish a sizable $K\bar K$ component of the scalar mesons, but do not allow to discriminate between molecules and compact states.

Generalized Weinberg's approach to the a0/f0 case

The problem of whether it is possible to distinguish composite from elementary particles is studied in the framework of Weinberg's approach. The possibility to extend this approach to the case of unstable particles in the presence of inelastic channels is considered. The interplay between the low-energy scattering data and the admixture of a bare state in the resonance is discussed, and the implications for the a0(980)/f0(980) case are outlined.

Radiative decays: a new flavour filter

Radiative decays of the $1^3D_1$ orbital excitations of the $ρ$, $ω$ and $ϕ$ to the scalars $f_0(1370)$, $f_0(1500)$ and $f_0(1710)$ are shown to provide a flavour filter, clarifying the extent of glueball mixing in the scalar states. A complementary approach to the latter is provided by the radiative decays of the scalar mesons to the ground-state vectors $ρ$, $ω$ and $ϕ$. Discrimination among different mixing scenarios is strong.

Hybrid adiabatic potentials in the QCD string model

The short- and intermediate-distance behaviour of the hybrid adiabatic potentials is calculated in the framework of the QCD string model. The calculations are performed with the inclusion of Coulomb force. Spin-dependent force and the so-called string correction term are treated as perturbation at the leading potential-type regime. Reasonably good agreement with lattice measurements takes place for adiabatic curves excited with magnetic components of field strength correlators.

Orbitally excited D and B mesons in the approach of the QCD string with quarks at the ends

In this letter we discuss the masses and the splittings of 1(2S+1)P_J states in the spectrum of D and B mesons, as they appear in the approach of the QCD string with quarks at the ends. We find good agreement of our predictions with those of other QCD-motivated models as well as with the lattice and experimental data, including recent experimental results. We discuss the ordering pattern for P levels in D- and B-mesonic spectrum.

Two-dimensional QCD in the Coulomb gauge

In the present paper we discuss various aspects of the 't Hooft model for two-dimensional QCD in the limit of infinite number of colours in the Coulomb gauge. The properties of mesonic excitations are addressed, with special attention paid to the pionic one. The twofold role of the pion is discussed: being a genuine quark-antiquark state it is also a Goldstone boson of two-dimensional QCD. In particular, it is demonstrated explicitly how the soft-pion theorems are satisfied. It is pointed out that the Coulomb-gauge choice seems to be indispensable in studies of hadronic observables with the pions involved.

QCD string model for hybrid adiabatic potentials

Hybrid adiabatic potentials are considered in the framework of the QCD string model. The einbein field formalism is applied to obtain the large-distance behaviour of adiabatic potentials. The calculated excitation curves are shown to be the result of interplay between potential-type longitudinal and string-type transverse vibrations. The results are compared with recent lattice data.

QCD_2 in the axial gauge revisited

The 't Hooft model for the two-dimensional QCD in the limit of infinite number of colours is studied in the axial gauge. The mass-gap and the bound-state equations are derived using the two consequent Bogoliubov-like transformations. Chiral properties of the model are studied in the Hamiltonian and matrix approaches to the latter. Special attention is payed to the explicit pionic solution of the bound-state equation.

QCD string in light-light and heavy-light mesons

The spectra of light-light and heavy-light mesons are calculated within the framework of the QCD string model, which is derived from QCD in the Wilson loop approach. Special attention is payed to the proper string dynamics that allows us to reproduce the straight-line Regge trajectories with the inverse slope being 2πσfor light-light and twice as small for heavy-light mesons. We use the model of the rotating QCD string with quarks at the ends to calculate the masses of several light-light mesons lying on the lowest Regge trajectories and compare them with the experimental data as well as with the predictions of other models. The masses of several low-lying orbitally and radially excited heavy--light states in the D, D_s, B, and B_s meson spectra are calculated in the einbein (auxiliary) field approach, which has proven to be rather accurate in various calculations for relativistic systems. The results for the spectra are compared with the experimental and recent lattice data. It is demonstrated that an account of the proper string dynamics encoded in the so-called string correction to the interquark interaction leads to an extra negative contribution to the masses of orbitally excited states that resolves the problem of the identification of the D(2637) state recently claimed by the DELPHI Collaboration. For the heavy-light system we extract the constants \barΛ, λ_1, and λ_2 used in Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) and find good agreement with the results of other approaches.

Heavy-light mesons spectrum from the nonperturbative QCD in the einbein field formalism

The spectrum of B and D mesons (including the low lying orbitally and radially excited states) is calculated using the quark-antiquark Hamiltonian derived from QCD in the einbein field formalism. Spin-spin and spin-orbit terms due to the confinement and OGE interactions are taken into account as perturbations. Results for the masses and splittings are confronted to the experimental and recent lattice data and are demonstrated to be in a reasonable agreement with both. We find that the orbital excitations with l=2 and l=3 for D meson lie approximately in the same region as its first radial excitation that might solve the mystery of the extremely narrow D(2637) state recently claimed by DELPHI Collaboration.

Strong hadronic decays in QCD_2

Strong hadronic decays are discussed in the 't Hooft model for the two-dimensional QCD in the limit of infinite number of colours. Adler selfconsistency condition is derived for decays with pions in the final state and the corresponding amplitude is demonstrated to vanish identically in the chiral limit.
