New Closed Virial Equation of State for Hard-Sphere Fluids

A new closed virial equation of state of hard-sphere fluids is proposed which reproduces the calculated or estimated values of the first sixteen virial coefficients at the same time as giving very good accuracy when compared with computer simulation data for the compressibility factor over the entire fluid range, and having a pole at the correct closest packing density.

Equation of state for hard sphere fluids offering accurate virial coefficients

The asymptotic expansion method is extended by using currently available accurate values for the first ten virial coefficients for hard sphere fluids. It is then used to yield an equation of state for hard sphere fluids, which accurately represents the currently accepted values for the first sixteen virial coefficients and compressibility factor data in both the stable and the metastable regions of the phase diagram.

Asymptotic expansion based equation of state for hard-disk fluids offering accurate virial coefficients

Despite the fact that more that more than 30 analytical expressions for the equation of state of hard-disk fluids have been proposed in the literature, none of them is capable of reproducing the currently accepted numeric or estimated values for the first eighteen virial coefficients. Using the asymptotic expansion method, extended to the first ten virial coefficients for hard-disk fluids, fifty-seven new expressions for the equation of state have been studied. Of these, a new equation of state is selected which reproduces accurately all the first eighteen virial coefficients. Comparisons for the compressibility factor with computer simulations show that this new equation is as accurate as other similar expressions with the same number of parameters. Finally, the location of the poles of the 57 new equations shows that there are some particular configurations which could give both the accurate virial coefficients and the correct closest packing fraction in the future when higher virial coefficients than the tenth are numerically calculated.

New Virial Equation of State for Hard-Disk Fluids

Although many equations of state of hard-disk fluids have been proposed, none is capable of reproducing the currently calculated or estimated values of the first eighteen virial coefficients at the same time as giving very good accuracy when compared with computer simulation values for the compressibility factor over the whole fluid range. A new virial-based expression is here proposed which achieves these aims. For that, we use the fact that the currently accepted estimated values for the highest virial coefficients behave linearly with their order, and also that virial coefficients must have a limiting behaviour that permits the closest packing limit in the compressibility factor to be also adequately reproduced.

Probing Ricci dark energy model with perturbations by using WMAP seven-year cosmic microwave background measurements, BAO and Type Ia supernovae

In this paper, we investigate the Ricci dark energy model with perturbations through the joint constraints of current cosmological data sets from dynamical and geometrical perspectives. We use the full cosmic microwave background information from WMAP seven-year data, the baryon acoustic oscillations from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the Two Degree Galaxy Redshift Survey, and type Ia supernovae from the Union2 compilation of the Supernova Cosmology Project Collaboration. A global constraint is performed by employing the Markov chain Monte Carlo method. With the best-fitting results, we show the differences of cosmic microwave background power spectra and background evolutions for the cosmological constant model and Ricci dark energy model with perturbations.

A more general interacting model of holographic dark energy

So far, there have been no theories or observational data that deny the presence of interaction between dark energy and dark matter. We extend naturally the holographic dark energy (HDE) model, proposed by Granda and Oliveros, in which the dark energy density includes not only the square of the Hubble scale, but also the time derivative of the Hubble scale to the case with interaction and the analytic forms for the cosmic parameters are obtained under the specific boundary conditions. The various behaviors concerning the cosmic expansion depend on the introduced numerical parameters which are also constrained. The more general interacting model inherits the features of the previous ones of HDE, keeping the consistency of the theory.

The Fourth Gravity Test and Quintessence Matter Field

After the previous work on gravitational frequency shift, light deflection (arXiv:1003.5296) and perihelion advance (arXiv:0812.2332), we calculate carefully the fourth gravity test, i.e. radar echo delay in a central gravity field surrounded by static free quintessence matter, in this paper. Through the Lagrangian method, we find the influence of the quintessence matter on the time delay of null particle is presence by means of an additional integral term. When the quintessence field vanishes, it reduces to the usual Schwarzschild case naturally. Meanwhile, we also use the data of the Viking lander from the Mars and Cassini spacecraft to Saturn to constrain the quintessence field. For the Viking case, the field parameter $α$ is under the order of $10^{-9}$. However, $α$ is under $10^{-18}$ for the Cassini case.

Constraints on modified Chaplygin gas from recent observations and a comparison of its status with other models

In this Letter, a modified Chaplygin gas (MCG) model of unifying dark energy and dark matter with the exotic equation of state $p_{MCG}=Bρ_{MCG} -\frac A{ρ_{MCG}^α}$ is constrained from recently observed data: the 182 Gold SNe Ia, the 3-year WMAP and the SDSS baryon acoustic peak. It is shown that the best fit value of the three parameters ($B$,$B_{s}$,$α$) in MCG model are (-0.085,0.822,1.724). Furthermore, we find the best fit $w(z)$ crosses -1 in the past and the present best fit value $w(0)=-1.114<-1$, and the $1σ$ confidence level of $w(0)$ is $-0.946\leq w(0)\leq-1.282$. Finally, we find that the MCG model has the smallest $χ^{2}_{min}$ value in all eight given models. According to the Alaike Information Criterion (AIC) of model selection, we conclude that recent observational data support the MCG model as well as other popular models.

Observational constraint on generalized Chaplygin gas model

We investigate observational constraints on the generalized Chaplygin gas (GCG) model as the unification of dark matter and dark energy from the latest observational data: the Union SNe Ia data, the observational Hubble data, the SDSS baryon acoustic peak and the five-year WMAP shift parameter. It is obtained that the best fit values of the GCG model parameters with their confidence level are $A_{s}=0.73^{+0.06}_{-0.06}$ ($1σ$) $^{+0.09}_{-0.09}$ $(2σ)$, $α=-0.09^{+0.15}_{-0.12}$ ($1σ$) $^{+0.26}_{-0.19}$ $(2σ)$. Furthermore in this model, we can see that the evolution of equation of state (EOS) for dark energy is similar to quiessence, and its current best-fit value is $w_{0de}=-0.96$ with the $1σ$ confidence level $-0.91\geq w_{0de}\geq-1.00$.

The influence of quintessence on the motion of a binary system in cosmology

We employ the metric of Schwarzschild space surrounded by quintessential matter to study the trajectories of test masses on the motion of a binary system. The results, which are obtained through the gradually approximate approach, can be used to search for dark energy via the difference of the azimuth angle of the pericenter. The classification of the motion is discussed.

Constraints on accelerating universe using ESSENCE and Gold supernovae data combined with other cosmological probes

We use recently observed data: the 192 ESSENCE type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), the 182 Gold SNe Ia, the 3-year WMAP, the SDSS baryon acoustic peak, the X-ray gas mass fraction in clusters and the observational $H(z)$ data to constrain models of the accelerating universe. Combining the 192 ESSENCE data with the observational $H(z)$ data to constrain a parameterized deceleration parameter, we obtain the best fit values of transition redshift and current deceleration parameter $z_{T}=0.632^{+0.256}_{-0.127}$, $q_{0}=-0.788^{+0.182}_{-0.182}$. Furthermore, using $Λ$CDM model and two model-independent equation of state of dark energy, we find that the combined constraint from the 192 ESSENCE data and other four cosmological observations gives smaller values of $Ω_{0m}$ and $q_{0}$, but a larger value of $z_{T}$ than the combined constraint from the 182 Gold data with other four observations. Finally, according to the Akaike information criterion it is shown that the recently observed data equally supports three dark energy models: $Λ$CDM, $w_{de}(z)=w_{0}$ and $w_{de}(z)=w_{0}+w_{1}\ln(1+z)$.

The Influence of Free Quintessence on Gravitational Frequency Shift and Deflection of Light with 4D momentum

Based on the 4D momentum, the influence of quintessence on the gravitational frequency shift and the deflection of light are examined in modified Schwarzschild space. We find that the frequency of photon depends on the state parameter of quintessence $w_q$: the frequency increases for $-1<w_q<-1/3$ and decreases for $-1/3<w_q<0$. Meanwhile, we adopt an integral power number $a$ ($a = 3ω_q + 2$) to solve the orbital equation of photon. The photon's potentials become higher with the decrease of $ω_q$. The behavior of bending light depends on the state parameter $ω_q$ sensitively. In particular, for the case of $ω_q = -1$, there is no influence on the deflection of light by quintessence. Else, according to the H-masers of GP-A redshift experiment and the long-baseline interferometry, the constraints on the quintessence field in Solar system are presented here.

Quantum Statistical Entropy and Minimal Length of 5D Ricci-flat Black String with Generalized Uncertainty Principle

In this paper, we study the quantum statistical entropy in a 5D Ricci-flat black string solution, which contains a 4D Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole on the brane, by using the improved thin-layer method with the generalized uncertainty principle. The entropy is the linear sum of the areas of the event horizon and the cosmological horizon without any cut-off and any constraint on the bulk's configuration rather than the usual uncertainty principle. The system's density of state and free energy are convergent in the neighborhood of horizon. The small-mass approximation is determined by the asymptotic behavior of metric function near horizons. Meanwhile, we obtain the minimal length of the position $Δx$ which is restrained by the surface gravities and the thickness of layer near horizons.

Quasi-Normal Modes of Massless Scalar Field around the 5D Ricci-flat Black String

As one candidate of the higher dimensional black holes, the 5D Ricci-flat black string is considered in this paper. By means of a non-trivial potential $V_{n}$, the quasi-normal modes of a massless scalar field around this black string space is studied. By using the classical third order WKB approximation, we analyse carefully the evolution of frequencies in two aspects, one is the induced cosmological constant $Λ$ and the other is the quantum number $n$. The massless scalar field decays more slowly because of the existences of the fifth dimension and the induced cosmological constant. If extra dimension has in fact existed near black hole, those quasi-normal frequencies may have some indication on it.

Quasinormal modes of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by free static spherically symmetric quintessence: Electromagnetic perturbations

In this paper, we evaluated the quasinormal modes of electromagnetic perturbation in a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by the static spherically symmetric quintessence by using the third-order WKB approximation when the quintessential state parameter $ w_{q}$ in the range of $-1/3<w_{q}<0$. Due to the presence of quintessence, Maxwell field damps more slowly. And when at $-1<w_{q}<-1/3$, it is similar to the black hole solution in the ds/Ads spacetime. The appropriate boundary conditions need to be modified.

Reconstructing the Equation of State for Dark Energy In the Double Complex Symmetric Gravitational Theory

We propose to study the accelerating expansion of the universe in the double complex symmetric gravitational theory (DCSGT). The universe we live in is taken as the real part of the whole spacetime ${\cal M}^4_C(J)$ which is double complex. By introducing the spatially flat FRW metric, not only the double Friedmann Equations but also the two constraint conditions $p_J=0$ and $J^2=1$ are obtained. Furthermore, using parametric $D_L(z)$ ansatz, we reconstruct the $ω^{'}(z)$ and $V(ϕ)$ for dark energy from real observational data. We find that in the two cases of $J=i,p_J=0$ and $J=ε,p_J\neq 0$, the corresponding equations of state $ω^{'}(z)$ remain close to -1 at present ($z=0$) and change from below -1 to above -1. The results illustrate that the whole spacetime, i.e. the double complex spacetime ${\cal M}^4_C(J)$, may be either ordinary complex ($J=i,p_J=0$) or hyperbolic complex ($J=ε,p_J\neq 0$). And the fate of the universe would be Big Rip in the future.

Statefinder Parameters for Tachyon Dark Energy Model

In this paper we study the statefinder parameters for the tachyon dark energy model. There are two kinds of stable attractor solutions in this model. The statefinder diagrams characterize the properties of the tachyon dark energy model. Our results show that the evolving trajectories of the attractor solutions lie in the total region and pass through the LCDM fixed point, which is different from other dark energy model.

The Phase Transition of Dark Energy

Considering that the universe is filled with the nonrelativistic matter and dark energy and each component is respectively satisfied with its conservation condition in the absence of their interaction, we give the change rate of the fractional density and the density of dark energy from the conservation condition. It is clear that the fractional density of dark energy will monotonously increase and gradually become the dominating contribution to the universe as the redshift becomes low. Combining the evolutional trend of the state equation of dark energy and the change rate of the density of dark energy we find that the density of dark energy will decrease up to a minimum and whereafter it will increase again as the redshift becomes low. This can be regarded as the phase transition of dark energy from the quintessence phase to the phantom phase.
