Survey of Metric fixed point theory in random functional analysis

Based on the idea of randomizing the traditional space theory of functional analysis, random functional analysis has been developed as functional analysis over random metric spaces, random normed modules and random locally convex modules. Since these random frameworks have much more complicated algebraic, topological and geometric structures than their prototypes, the development of fixed point theory in random functional analysis had been almost stagnant before 2010. Unexpectedly, with the deep development of stable set theory fixed point theory in random functional analysis, including both its metric and topological fixed point theory, has made considerable progress in the recent 15 years. The purpose of this paper is to survey the important progress in metric fixed point theory in random functional analysis, including the random Banach contraction mapping principle and Caristi fixed point theorem on complete random metric spaces, and fixed point theorems for random nonexpansive and asymptotically nonexpansive mappings in complete random normed modules. Besides, the connections among the topics surveyed, random equations and random fixed point theorems for random operators are also briefly mentioned.

A random demiclosedness principle for random asymptotically nonexpansive mappings

By making full use of the inherent connection between the theory of random conjugate spaces and the theory of classical conjugate spaces, in this paper we establish a random demiclosedness principle for a random asymptotically nonexpansive mapping, which generalizes Xu's classical demiclosedness principle from a uniformly convex Banach space to a complete random uniformly convex random normed module: let $(E,\|\cdot\|)$ be a complete random uniformly convex random normed module, $E^{*}$ the random conjugate space of $E$, $G$ an almost surely bounded closed $L^{0}$-convex subset of $E$ and $f: G \rightarrow G$ a random asymptotically nonexpansive mapping, then $(I-f)$ is random demiclosed at $\theta$, namely, for each sequence $\{x_{n}, n\in \mathbb{N}\}$ in $G$, if $\{x_{n}, n\in \mathbb{N}\}$ converges in $\sigma(E, E^{*})$ to $x$ and $\{(I-f)x_{n}, n\in \mathbb{N}\}$ converges to $\theta$, then $(I-f)x=\theta$, where $I$ denotes the identity operator on $E$ and $\sigma(E, E^{*})$ the random weak topology on $E$.

RexDrug: Reliable Multi-Drug Combination Extraction through Reasoning-Enhanced LLMs

Automated Drug Combination Extraction (DCE) from large-scale biomedical literature is crucial for advancing precision medicine and pharmacological research. However, existing relation extraction methods primarily focus on binary interactions and struggle to model variable-length n-ary drug combinations, where complex compatibility logic and distributed evidence need to be considered. To address these limitations, we propose RexDrug, an end-to-end reasoning-enhanced relation extraction framework for n-ary drug combination extraction based on large language models. RexDrug adopts a two-stage training strategy. First, a multi-agent collaborative mechanism is utilized to automatically generate high-quality expert-like reasoning traces for supervised fine-tuning. Second, reinforcement learning with a multi-dimensional reward function specifically tailored for DCE is applied to further refine reasoning quality and extraction accuracy. Extensive experiments on the DrugComb dataset show that RexDrug consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines for n-ary extraction. Additional evaluation on the DDI13 corpus confirms its generalizability to binary drugdrug interaction tasks. Human expert assessment and automatic reasoning metrics further indicates that RexDrug produces coherent medical reasoning while accurately identifying complex therapeutic regimens. These results establish RexDrug as a scalable and reliable solution for complex biomedical relation extraction from unstructured text. Defining AI Models and AI Systems: A Framework to Resolve the Boundary Problem

Emerging AI regulations assign distinct obligations to different actors along the AI value chain (e.g., the EU AI Act distinguishes providers and deployers for both AI models and AI systems), yet the foundational terms "AI model" and "AI system" lack clear, consistent definitions. Through a systematic review of 896 academic papers and a manual review of over 80 regulatory, standards, and technical or policy documents, we analyze existing definitions from multiple conceptual perspectives. We then trace definitional lineages and paradigm shifts over time, finding that most standards and regulatory definitions derive from the OECD's frameworks, which evolved in ways that compounded rather than resolved conceptual ambiguities. The ambiguity of the boundary between an AI model and an AI system creates practical difficulties in determining obligations for different actors, and raises questions on whether certain modifications performed are specific to the model as opposed to the non-model system components. We propose conceptual definitions grounded in the nature of models and systems and the relationship between them, then develop operational definitions for contemporary neural network-based machine-learning AI: models consist of trained parameters and architecture, while systems consist of the model plus additional components including an interface for processing inputs and outputs. Finally, we discuss implications for regulatory implementation and examine how our definitions contribute to resolving ambiguities in allocating responsibilities across the AI value chain, in both theoretical scenarios and case studies involving real-world incidents.

A Generalist Foundation Model for Total-body PET/CT Enables Diagnostic Reporting and System-wide Metabolic Profiling

Total-body PET/CT enables system-wide molecular imaging, but heterogeneous anatomical and metabolic signals, approximately 2 m axial coverage, and structured radiology semantics challenge existing medical AI models that assume single-modality inputs, localized fields of view, and coarse image-text alignment. We introduce SDF-HOLO (Systemic Dual-stream Fusion Holo Model), a multimodal foundation model for holistic total-body PET/CT, pre-trained on more than 10,000 patients. SDF-HOLO decouples CT and PET representation learning with dual-stream encoders and couples them through a cross-modal interaction module, allowing anatomical context to refine PET aggregation while metabolic saliency guides subtle morphological reasoning. To model long-range dependencies across the body, hierarchical context modeling combines efficient local windows with global attention. To bridge voxels and clinical language, we use anatomical segmentation masks as explicit semantic anchors and perform voxel-mask-text alignment during pre-training. Across tumor segmentation, low-dose lesion detection, and multilingual diagnostic report generation, SDF-HOLO outperforms strong task-specific and clinical-reference baselines while reducing localization errors and hallucinated findings. Beyond focal interpretation, the model enables system-wide metabolic profiling and reveals tumor-associated fingerprints of inter-organ metabolic network interactions, providing a scalable computational foundation for total-body PET/CT diagnostics and system-level precision oncology.

Overview of CHIP 2025 Shared Task 2: Discharge Medication Recommendation for Metabolic Diseases Based on Chinese Electronic Health Records

Discharge medication recommendation plays a critical role in ensuring treatment continuity, preventing readmission, and improving long-term management for patients with chronic metabolic diseases. This paper present an overview of the CHIP 2025 Shared Task 2 competition, which aimed to develop state-of-the-art approaches for automatically recommending appro-priate discharge medications using real-world Chinese EHR data. For this task, we constructed CDrugRed, a high-quality dataset consisting of 5,894 de-identified hospitalization records from 3,190 patients in China. This task is challenging due to multi-label nature of medication recommendation, het-erogeneous clinical text, and patient-specific variability in treatment plans. A total of 526 teams registered, with 167 and 95 teams submitting valid results to the Phase A and Phase B leaderboards, respectively. The top-performing team achieved the highest overall performance on the final test set, with a Jaccard score of 0.5102, F1 score of 0.6267, demonstrating the potential of advanced large language model (LLM)-based ensemble systems. These re-sults highlight both the promise and remaining challenges of applying LLMs to medication recommendation in Chinese EHRs. The post-evaluation phase remains open at https://tianchi.aliyun.com/competition/entrance/532411/.

MediRec: Enhancing Chinese Medication Recommendation with Explainable Clinical Reasoning

Large language models (LLMs) have shown strong potential for clinical decision support through their advanced language understanding and reasoning capabilities. However, their application to Chinese clinical medication recommendation remains largely unexplored. Existing approaches are primarily developed on English electronic health record datasets and focus on coarse-grained medication code prediction, offering limited support for interpretable clinical decision-making. In this work, we propose MediRec, an explainable LLM-based framework for Chinese medication recommendation from electronic health records. MediRec combines clinically grounded reasoning-chain distillation with reinforcement learning to improve both recommendation accuracy and interpretability. Comprehensive experiments on a Chinese medication recommendation benchmark show that MediRec achieves strong performance, with an F1 score of 0.5813 and a Jaccard score of 0.4626. Further analyses indicate that MediRec generates clinically plausible recommendations with transparent reasoning, demonstrating its effectiveness for explainable medication decision support in Chinese healthcare settings.

MedTrust-RAG: Evidence Verification and Trust Alignment for Biomedical Question Answering

Biomedical question answering (QA) requires accurate interpretation of complex medical knowledge. Large language models (LLMs) have shown promising capabilities in this domain, with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems enhancing performance by incorporating external medical literature. However, RAG-based approaches in biomedical QA suffer from hallucinations due to post-retrieval noise and insufficient verification of retrieved evidence, undermining response reliability. We propose MedTrust-Guided Iterative RAG, a framework designed to enhance factual consistency and mitigate hallucinations in medical QA. Our method introduces three key innovations. First, it enforces citation-aware reasoning by requiring all generated content to be explicitly grounded in retrieved medical documents, with structured Negative Knowledge Assertions used when evidence is insufficient. Second, it employs an iterative retrieval-verification process, where a verification agent assesses evidence adequacy and refines queries through Medical Gap Analysis until reliable information is obtained. Third, it integrates the MedTrust-Align Module (MTAM) that combines verified positive examples with hallucination-aware negative samples, leveraging Direct Preference Optimization to reinforce citation-grounded reasoning while penalizing hallucination-prone response patterns.

A Unified Biomedical Named Entity Recognition Framework with Large Language Models

Accurate recognition of biomedical named entities is critical for medical information extraction and knowledge discovery. However, existing methods often struggle with nested entities, entity boundary ambiguity, and cross-lingual generalization. In this paper, we propose a unified Biomedical Named Entity Recognition (BioNER) framework based on Large Language Models (LLMs). We first reformulate BioNER as a text generation task and design a symbolic tagging strategy to jointly handle both flat and nested entities with explicit boundary annotation. To enhance multilingual and multi-task generalization, we perform bilingual joint fine-tuning across multiple Chinese and English datasets. Additionally, we introduce a contrastive learning-based entity selector that filters incorrect or spurious predictions by leveraging boundary-sensitive positive and negative samples. Experimental results on four benchmark datasets and two unseen corpora show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance and robust zero-shot generalization across languages. The random Kakutani fixed point theorem in random normed modules

Based on the recently developed theory of random sequential compactness, we prove the random Kakutani fixed point theorem in random normed modules: if G is a random sequentially compact L0-convex subset of a random normed module, then every -stable Tc-upper semicontinuous mapping F:G to 2G such that F(x) is closed and L0-convex for each x in G, has a fixed point. This is the first fixed point theorem for set-valued mappings in random normed modules, providing a random generalization of the classical Kakutani fixed point theorem as well as a set-valued extension of the noncompact Schauder fixed point theorem established in Math. CommonVoice-SpeechRE and RPG-MoGe: Advancing Speech Relation Extraction with a New Dataset and Multi-Order Generative Framework

Speech Relation Extraction (SpeechRE) aims to extract relation triplets directly from speech. However, existing benchmark datasets rely heavily on synthetic data, lacking sufficient quantity and diversity of real human speech. Moreover, existing models also suffer from rigid single-order generation templates and weak semantic alignment, substantially limiting their performance. To address these challenges, we introduce CommonVoice-SpeechRE, a large-scale dataset comprising nearly 20,000 real-human speech samples from diverse speakers, establishing a new benchmark for SpeechRE research. Furthermore, we propose the Relation Prompt-Guided Multi-Order Generative Ensemble (RPG-MoGe), a novel framework that features: (1) a multi-order triplet generation ensemble strategy, leveraging data diversity through diverse element orders during both training and inference, and (2) CNN-based latent relation prediction heads that generate explicit relation prompts to guide cross-modal alignment and accurate triplet generation. Experiments show our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods, providing both a benchmark dataset and an effective solution for real-world SpeechRE. The source code and dataset are publicly available at https://github.com/NingJinzhong/SpeechRE_RPG_MoGe.

IP2: Entity-Guided Interest Probing for Personalized News Recommendation

News recommender systems aim to provide personalized news reading experiences for users based on their reading history. Behavioral science studies suggest that screen-based news reading contains three successive steps: scanning, title reading, and then clicking. Adhering to these steps, we find that intra-news entity interest dominates the scanning stage, while the inter-news entity interest guides title reading and influences click decisions. Unfortunately, current methods overlook the unique utility of entities in news recommendation. To this end, we propose a novel method called IP2 to probe entity-guided reading interest at both intra- and inter-news levels. At the intra-news level, a Transformer-based entity encoder is devised to aggregate mentioned entities in the news title into one signature entity. Then, a signature entity-title contrastive pre-training is adopted to initialize entities with proper meanings using the news story context, which in the meantime facilitates us to probe for intra-news entity interest. As for the inter-news level, a dual tower user encoder is presented to capture inter-news reading interest from both the title meaning and entity sides. In addition to highlighting the contribution of inter-news entity guidance, a cross-tower attention link is adopted to calibrate title reading interest using inter-news entity interest, thus further aligning with real-world behavior. Extensive experiments on two real-world datasets demonstrate that our IP2 achieves state-of-the-art performance in news recommendation.

Fine-Grained Chinese Hate Speech Understanding: Span-Level Resources, Coded Term Lexicon, and Enhanced Detection Frameworks

The proliferation of hate speech has inflicted significant societal harm, with its intensity and directionality closely tied to specific targets and arguments. In recent years, numerous machine learning-based methods have been developed to detect hateful comments on online platforms automatically. However, research on Chinese hate speech detection lags behind, and interpretability studies face two major challenges: first, the scarcity of span-level fine-grained annotated datasets limits models' deep semantic understanding of hate speech; second, insufficient research on identifying and interpreting coded hate speech restricts model explainability in complex real-world scenarios. To address these, we make the following contributions: (1) We introduce the Span-level Target-Aware Toxicity Extraction dataset (STATE ToxiCN), the first span-level Chinese hate speech dataset, and evaluate the hate semantic understanding of existing models using it. (2) We conduct the first comprehensive study on Chinese coded hate terms, LLMs' ability to interpret hate semantics. (3) We propose a method to integrate an annotated lexicon into models, significantly enhancing hate speech detection performance. Our work provides valuable resources and insights to advance the interpretability of Chinese hate speech detection research.

LeForecast: Enterprise Hybrid Forecast by Time Series Intelligence

Demand is spiking in industrial fields for multidisciplinary forecasting, where a broad spectrum of sectors needs planning and forecasts to streamline intelligent business management, such as demand forecasting, product planning, inventory optimization, etc. Specifically, these tasks expecting intelligent approaches to learn from sequentially collected historical data and then foresee most possible trend, i.e. time series forecasting. Challenge of it lies in interpreting complex business contexts and the efficiency and generalisation of modelling. With aspirations of pre-trained foundational models for such purpose, given their remarkable success of large foundation model across legions of tasks, we disseminate \leforecast{}, an enterprise intelligence platform tailored for time series tasks. It integrates advanced interpretations of time series data and multi-source information, and a three-pillar modelling engine combining a large foundation model (Le-TSFM), multimodal model and hybrid model to derive insights, predict or infer futures, and then drive optimisation across multiple sectors in enterprise operations. The framework is composed by a model pool, model profiling module, and two different fusion approaches regarding original model architectures. Experimental results verify the efficiency of our trail fusion concepts: router-based fusion network and coordination of large and small models, resulting in high costs for redundant development and maintenance of models. This work reviews deployment of LeForecast and its performance in three industrial use cases. Our comprehensive experiments indicate that LeForecast is a profound and practical platform for efficient and competitive performance. And we do hope that this work can enlighten the research and grounding of time series techniques in accelerating enterprise.

STATE ToxiCN: A Benchmark for Span-level Target-Aware Toxicity Extraction in Chinese Hate Speech Detection

The proliferation of hate speech has caused significant harm to society. The intensity and directionality of hate are closely tied to the target and argument it is associated with. However, research on hate speech detection in Chinese has lagged behind, and existing datasets lack span-level fine-grained annotations. Furthermore, the lack of research on Chinese hateful slang poses a significant challenge. In this paper, we provide a solution for fine-grained detection of Chinese hate speech. First, we construct a dataset containing Target-Argument-Hateful-Group quadruples (STATE ToxiCN), which is the first span-level Chinese hate speech dataset. Secondly, we evaluate the span-level hate speech detection performance of existing models using STATE ToxiCN. Finally, we conduct the first study on Chinese hateful slang and evaluate the ability of LLMs to detect such expressions. Our work contributes valuable resources and insights to advance span-level hate speech detection in Chinese.

Ultra low-cost fabrication of homogeneous alginate hydrogel microspheres in symmetry designed microfluidic device

In this study, we present a two-stage method for fabricating monodisperse alginate hydrogel microspheres using a symmetrically designed flow-focusing microfluidic device. One of the flow-focusing junctions generates alginate hydrogel droplets without the addition of surfactants, while the other junction introduces corn oil with acetic acid, which facilitates the solidification of the homogeneous alginate hydrogel droplets and prevents coalescence. These hydrogel microspheres can be easily separated from the oil phase using an oscillation state, eliminating the need for a demulsifier. This microfluidic system for hydrogel microsphere formation is notable for its simplicity, ease of fabrication, and user-friendliness.

Taiyi: A Bilingual Fine-Tuned Large Language Model for Diverse Biomedical Tasks

Objective: Most existing fine-tuned biomedical large language models (LLMs) focus on enhancing performance in monolingual biomedical question answering and conversation tasks. To investigate the effectiveness of the fine-tuned LLMs on diverse biomedical NLP tasks in different languages, We present Taiyi, a bilingual fine-tuned LLM for diverse biomedical tasks. Materials and Methods: We first curated a comprehensive collection of 140 existing biomedical text mining datasets (102 English and 38 Chinese datasets) across over 10 task types. Subsequently, a two-stage strategy is proposed for supervised fine-tuning to optimize the model performance across varied tasks. Results: Experimental results on 13 test sets covering named entity recognition, relation extraction, text classification, question answering tasks demonstrate that Taiyi achieves superior performance compared to general LLMs. The case study involving additional biomedical NLP tasks further shows Taiyi's considerable potential for bilingual biomedical multi-tasking. Conclusion: Leveraging rich high-quality biomedical corpora and developing effective fine-tuning strategies can significantly improve the performance of LLMs within the biomedical domain. Taiyi shows the bilingual multi-tasking capability through supervised fine-tuning. However, those tasks such as information extraction that are not generation tasks in nature remain challenging for LLM-based generative approaches, and they still underperform the conventional discriminative approaches of smaller language models.
