Dual Prototype-Conditioned Diffusion Model for Scalable Multi-Class Unsupervised Anomaly Detection in Large Category Spaces

Multi-class anomaly detection aims to build unified models across diverse product categories. However, as the number of categories grows, its performance often degrades due to increasingly complex and heterogeneous normal distributions. To address this challenge, we propose DPDiff-AD, a Dual Prototype-conditioned Diffusion model for large-scale multi-class Anomaly Detection. DPDiff-AD models heterogeneous normal distributions through complementary local and global prototypes. Local prototypes capture representative fine-grained structural patterns via nearest-prototype aggregation, while global prototypes regulate holistic feature geometry through optimal transport regularization. Together, these dual-scale representations define a structured normality space. This space is refined through diffusion-based reconstruction conditioned on both local and global prototypes via prototype-aware attention. By jointly leveraging dual prototypes during generation, DPDiff-AD achieves precise normality modeling, preserves structured separability as category cardinality grows, and enables scalable anomaly discrimination. Extensive experiments across five benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness and scalability of DPDiff-AD. On the 160-category large-scale dataset, it improves image- and pixel-level AUROC by 5.3 and 2.9 points over the previous state-of-the-art method Dinomaly+, while maintaining stable performance as category cardinality increases.

Diffusion-based Layer-wise Semantic Reconstruction for Unsupervised Out-of-Distribution Detection

Unsupervised out-of-distribution (OOD) detection aims to identify out-of-domain data by learning only from unlabeled In-Distribution (ID) training samples, which is crucial for developing a safe real-world machine learning system. Current reconstruction-based methods provide a good alternative approach by measuring the reconstruction error between the input and its corresponding generative counterpart in the pixel/feature space. However, such generative methods face a key dilemma: improving the reconstruction power of the generative model while keeping a compact representation of the ID data. To address this issue, we propose the diffusion-based layer-wise semantic reconstruction approach for unsupervised OOD detection. The innovation of our approach is that we leverage the diffusion model's intrinsic data reconstruction ability to distinguish ID samples from OOD samples in the latent feature space. Moreover, to set up a comprehensive and discriminative feature representation, we devise a multi-layer semantic feature extraction strategy. By distorting the extracted features with Gaussian noise and applying the diffusion model for feature reconstruction, the separation of ID and OOD samples is implemented according to the reconstruction errors. Extensive experimental results on multiple benchmarks built upon various datasets demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance in terms of detection accuracy and speed. Real-time hard-thermal-loop gluon self-energy in a semiquark-gluon plasma

In the real time formalism of the finite-temperature field theory, we compute the one-loop gluon self-energy in a semi-quark-gluon plasma (QGP) where a background filed ${\cal Q}$ has been introduced for the vector potential, leading to a non-trivial expectation value for the Polyakov loop in the deconfined phase. Explicit results of the gluon self-energies up to the next-to-leading order in the hard-thermal-loop approximation are obtained. We find that for the retarded/advanced gluon self-energy, the corresponding contributions at next-to-leading order are formally analogous to the well-known result at ${\cal Q}=0$ where the background field modification on the Debye mass is entirely encoded in the second Bernoulli polynomials. The same feature is shared by the leading order contributions in the symmetric gluon self-energy where the background field modification becomes more complicated, including both trigonometric functions and the Bernoulli polynomials. These contributions are non-vanishing and reproduce the correct limit as ${\cal Q} \rightarrow 0$. In addition, the leading order contributions to the retarded/advanced gluon self-energy and the next-to-leading order contributions to the symmetric gluon self-energy are completely new as they only survive at ${\cal Q}\neq0$. Given the above results, we explicitly verify that the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger condition can be satisfied in a semi-QGP with non-zero background field.
