Intelligent Optimal Control of Rydberg Gates with Incremental-Update Deep Reinforcement Learning

Deep reinforcement learning (DRL), acting as a novel and powerful paradigm for quantum optimal control, offers transformative opportunities for advancing neutral-atom quantum computing. In this work, we theoretically demonstrate a DRL-based framework for realizing Rydberg controlled-NOT gates that achieve both high speed and high fidelity through the synchronous modulation of multiple pulse parameters without any prior heuristic ansatz. By introducing an incremental-update learning policy, our framework effectively regularizes the exploration of the control landscape, ensuring the generation of smooth, experimentally feasible pulse profiles while significantly reducing computational overhead compared to conventional schemes. Crucially, the framework autonomously discovers an early-cutoff policy by optimally reconciling operation speed with high-precision coherent control. Our optimized protocol achieves a peak average fidelity of 0.9991, significantly outperforming conventional methods and surpassing the critical fault-tolerant threshold. This work establishes a generalizable, AI-driven pathway for designing high-performance quantum gates and provides a robust paradigm for autonomous control field optimization across diverse qubit platforms.

d$^2$Cache: Accelerating Diffusion-Based LLMs via Dual Adaptive Caching

Diffusion-based large language models (dLLMs), despite their promising performance, still suffer from inferior inference efficiency. This is because dLLMs rely on bidirectional attention and cannot directly benefit from the standard key-value (KV) cache as autoregressive models (ARMs) do. To tackle this issue, we introduce \textit{Dual aDaptive Cache} (d$^2$Cache), which is a training-free approximate KV cache framework for accelerating dLLM inference. d$^2$Cache features a two-stage fine-grained selection strategy to identify tokens and adaptively update their KV states at each decoding step, while caching the KV states of the remaining tokens for reuse. Furthermore, d$^2$Cache naturally offers a more reliable decoding alternative, which can enable quasi left-to-right generation and mitigate premature overconfidence in tokens at the end of the sequence. Extensive experimental results on two representative dLLMs (\ie, LLaDA and Dream) demonstrate that d$^2$Cache not only achieves substantial inference speedups, but also yields consistent improvements in generation quality. The code is available at https://github.com/Kamichanw/d2Cache.

Decoherence-free interaction and maximally entangled state generation in giant-atom semi-infinite waveguide systems

Giant atoms are artificial atoms that can couple to a waveguide non-locally. Previous works have shown that two giant atoms in a braided configuration can interact through one-dimensional (1D) infinite and chiral waveguides, with both individual and collective atomic relaxation being fully suppressed. In this paper, however, we show that the decoherence-free interaction (DFI) between two giant atoms can be realized in both braided and nested configurations when the waveguide is semi-infinite. This protected interaction fails to appear in semi-infinite waveguide systems containing two separate giant atoms or two small atoms. We also study the entanglement generation between two giant atoms coupled to a 1D semi-infinite waveguide. The results show that the maximally entangled state is generated in both braided and nested configurations due to the formation of DFI, and in the separate configuration, the maximally achievable entanglement can exceed 0.5. Finally, we generalize the discussion on DFI and entanglement generation to the case involving multiple giant atoms coupled into a semi-infinite waveguide. This study presents a new scheme for realizing DFI and generating maximally entangled states in giant-atom waveguide-QED systems.

Multifunctional Nonreciprocal Quantum Device Based on Superconducting Quantum Circuit

Nonreciprocal devices, such as isolator or circulator, are crucial for information routing and processing in quantum networks. Traditional nonreciprocal devices, which rely on the application of bias magnetic fields to break time-reversal symmetry and Lorentz reciprocity, tend to be bulky and require strong static magnetic fields. This makes them challenging to implement in highly integrated large-scale quantum networks. Therefore, we design a multifunctional nonreciprocal quantum device based on the integration and tunable interaction of superconducting quantum circuit. This device can switch between two-port isolator, three-port symmetric circulator, and antisymmetric circulator under the control of external magnetic flux. Furthermore, both isolator and circulator can achieve nearly perfect unidirectional signal transmission. We believe that this scalable and integrable nonreciprocal device could provide new insight for the development of large-scale quantum networks.

Highly Scalable Quantum Router with Frequency-Independent Scattering Spectra

Optical quantum routers play a crucial role in quantum networks and have been extensively studied in both theory and experiment, leading to significant advancements in their performance. However, these routers impose stringent requirements for achieving desired routing results, as the incident photon frequency must be in strict resonance with one or several specific frequencies. To address this challenge, we propose an efficient quantum router scheme composed of semi-infinite coupled-resonator waveguide (CRW) and a giant atom. The single-channel router scheme enables stable output with 100% transfer rate over the entire energy band of the CRW. Leveraging this intriguing result, we further propose a multi-channel router scheme that possesses high stability and universality, while also being capable of performing various functionalities. The complete physical explanation of the underlying mechanism for this intriguing result is also presented. We hope that quantum router with output results unaffected by the frequency of the incoming information carriers presents a more reliable solution for the implementation of quantum networks.

Joint Edge Optimization Deep Unfolding Network for Accelerated MRI Reconstruction

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a widely used imaging technique, however it has the limitation of long scanning time. Though previous model-based and learning-based MRI reconstruction methods have shown promising performance, most of them have not fully utilized the edge prior of MR images, and there is still much room for improvement. In this paper, we build a joint edge optimization model that not only incorporates individual regularizers specific to both the MR image and the edges, but also enforces a co-regularizer to effectively establish a stronger correlation between them. Specifically, the edge information is defined through a non-edge probability map to guide the image reconstruction during the optimization process. Meanwhile, the regularizers pertaining to images and edges are incorporated into a deep unfolding network to automatically learn their respective inherent a-priori information.Numerical experiments, consisting of multi-coil and single-coil MRI data with different sampling schemes at a variety of sampling factors, demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other compared methods.

Entanglement enhancement of two giant atoms with multiple connection points in bidirectional-chiral quantum waveguide-QED system

We study the entanglement generation of two giant atoms within a one-dimensional bidirectional-chiral waveguide quantum electrodynamics (QED) system, where the initial state of the two giant atoms are $|e_a,g_b\rangle $. Here, each giant atom is coupled to the waveguide through three connection points, with the configurations divided into five types based on the arrangement of coupling points between the giant atoms and the waveguide: separate, fully braided, partially braided, fully nested, and partially nested. We explore the entanglement generation process within each configuration in both nonchiral and chiral coupling cases. It is demonstrated that entanglement can be controlled as needed by either adjusting the phase shift or selecting different configurations. For nonchiral coupling, the entanglement of each configuration exhibits steady state properties attributable to the presence of dark state. In addition, we find that steady-state entanglement can be obtained at more phase shifts in certain configurations by increasing the number of coupling points between the giant atoms and the bidirectional waveguide. In the case of chiral coupling, the entanglement is maximally enhanced compared to the one of nonchiral case. Especially in fully braided configuration, the concurrence reaches its peak value 1, which is robust to chirality. We further show the influence of atomic initial states on the evolution of interatomic entanglement. Our scheme can be used for entanglement generation in chiral quantum networks of giant-atom waveguide-QED systems, with potential applications in quantum networks and quantum communications.

Counting with Borel's Triangle

Borel's triangle is an array of integers closely related to the classical Catalan numbers. In this paper we study combinatorial statistics counted by Borel's triangle. We present various combinatorial interpretations of Borel's triangle in terms of lattice paths, binary trees, and pattern avoiding permutations and matchings, and derive a functional equation that is useful in analyzing the involved structures.

$q$-Stirling numbers revisited

We give combinatorial proofs of $q$-Stirling identities using restricted growth words. This includes a poset theoretic proof of Carlitz's identity, a new proof of the $q$-Frobenius identity of Garsia and Remmel and of Ehrenborg's Hankel $q$-Stirling determinantal identity. We also develop a two parameter generalization to unify identities of Mercier and include a symmetric function version.

q-Stirling numbers: A new view

We show the classical $q$-Stirling numbers of the second kind can be expressed compactly as a pair of statistics on a subset of restricted growth words. The resulting expressions are polynomials in $q$ and $1+q$. We extend this enumerative result via a decomposition of a new poset $Π(n,k)$ which we call the Stirling poset of the second kind. Its rank generating function is the $q$-Stirling number $S_q[n,k]$. The Stirling poset of the second kind supports an algebraic complex and a basis for integer homology is determined. A parallel enumerative, poset theoretic and homological study for the $q$-Stirling numbers of the first kind is done. Letting $t = 1+q$ we give a bijective argument showing the $(q,t)$-Stirling numbers of the first and second kind are orthogonal.
