Study on pure annihilation type B to V gamma decays

We investigate the pure annihilation type radiative $B$ meson decays $B^0 \to ϕγ$ and $B_s \to ρ^0(ω)γ$ in the soft-collinear effective theory. We consider three types of contributions to the decay amplitudes, including the direct annihilation topology, the contribution from the electro-magnetic penguin operator and the contribution of the neutral vector meson mixings. The numerical analysis shows that the decay amplitudes are dominated by the $ω-ϕ$ mixing effect in the $B^0 \to ϕγ$ and $B_s \to ωγ$ modes. The corresponding decay branching ratios are enhanced about three orders of magnitudes relative to the pure annihilation type contribution in these two decay channels. The decay rate of $B_s \to ρ^0γ$ is much smaller than that of $B_s \to ωγ$ because of the smaller $ρ^0-ϕ$ mixing. The predicted branching ratios $B(B^{0}\rightarrowϕγ)=(3.99^{+1.67}_{-1.46} )\times10^{-9},\,B(B_s\rightarrowωγ)=(2.01^{+0.81}_{-0.71} )\times10^{-7}$ are to be tested by the Belle-II and LHC-b experiments.

The semi-leptonic form factors of $Λ_{b}\toΛ_{c}$ and $Ξ_{b}\toΞ_{c}$ in QCD sum rules

In this work, the full leading order results of the form factors for $Ξ_{b}\toΞ_{c}$ and $Λ_{b}\toΛ_{c}$ are obtained in QCD sum rules. Contributions from up to dim-5 have been considered. For completeness, we also study the two-point correlation function to obtain the pole residues of $Ξ_{Q}$ and $Λ_{Q}$, and higher accuracy is achieved. For the three-point correlation function, since stable Borel regions can not be found, about $20\%$ uncertainties are introduced for the form factors of $Ξ_{b}\toΞ_{c}$ and $Λ_{b}\toΛ_{c}$. Our results for the form factors are consistent with those of the Lattice QCD within errors.

Precision calculations of the double radiative bottom-meson decays in soft-collinear effective theory

Employing the systematic framework of soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) we perform an improved calculation of the leading-power contributions to the double radiative $B_{d, \, s}$-meson decay amplitudes in the heavy quark expansion. We then construct the QCD factorization formulae for the subleading power contributions arising from the energetic photon radiation off the constituent light-flavour quark of the bottom meson at tree level. Furthermore, we explore the factorization properties of the subleading power correction from the effective SCET current $J^{(A2)}$ at ${\cal O} (α_s^0)$. The higher-twist contributions to the $B_{d, \, s} \to γγ$ helicity form factors from the two-particle and three-particle bottom-meson distribution amplitudes are evaluated up to the twist-six accuracy. In addition, the subleading power weak-annihilation contributions from both the current-current and QCD penguin operators are taken into account at the one-loop accuracy. We proceed to apply the operator-production-expansion-controlled dispersion relation for estimating the power-suppressed soft contributions to the double radiative $B_{d, \, s}$-meson decay form factors. Phenomenological explorations of the radiative $B_{d, \, s} \to γ\, γ$ decay observables in the presence of the neutral-meson mixing, including the CP-averaged branching fractions, the polarization fractions and the time-dependent CP asymmetries, are carried out subsequently with an emphasis on the numerical impacts of the newly computed ingredients together with the theory uncertainties from the shape parameters of the HQET bottom-meson distribution amplitudes.

Precision calculations of $B \to V$ form factors in QCD

Applying the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation functions with an interpolating current for the light vector meson we construct the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) for the "effective" form factors $ξ_{\parallel}(n \cdot p)$, $ξ_{\perp}(n \cdot p)$, $Ξ_{\parallel}(τ, n \cdot p)$ and $Ξ_{\perp}(τ, n \cdot p)$, defined by the corresponding hadronic matrix elements in soft-collinear effective theory (SCET), entering the leading-power factorization formulae for QCD form factors responsible for $B \to V \ell \bar ν_{\ell}$ and $B \to V \ell \bar \ell$ decays at large hadronic recoil at next-to-leading-order in QCD. The light-quark mass effect for the local SCET form factors $ξ_{\parallel}(n \cdot p)$ and $ξ_{\perp}(n \cdot p)$ is also computed from the LCSR method with the $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude $ϕ_B^{+}(ω, μ)$ at ${\cal O}(α_s)$. Furthermore, the subleading power corrections to $B \to V$ form factors from the higher-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes are also computed with the same method at tree level up to the twist-six accuracy. Having at our disposal the LCSR predictions for $B \to V$ form factors, we further perform new determinations of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ from the semileptonic $B \to ρ\, \ell \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ and $B \to ω\, \ell \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ decays, and predict the normalized differential branching fractions and the $q^2$-binned $K^{\ast}$ longitudinal polarization fractions of the exclusive rare $B \to K^{\ast} \, ν_{\ell} \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ decays.

Power corrections to the pion transition form factor from higher-twist distribution amplitudes of photon

In this paper we investigate the power suppressed contributions from two-particle and three-particle twist-4 light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) of photon within the framework of light-cone sum rules. Compared with leading twist LCDA result, the contribution from three-particle twist-4 LCDAs is not suppressed in the expansion by $1/Q^2$, so that the power corrections considered in this work can give rise to a sizable contribution, especially at low $Q^2$ region. According to our result, the power suppressed contributions should be included in the determination of the Gegenbauer moments of pion LCDAs with the pion transition form factor.

Power Corrections to Pion Transition Form Factor in Perturbative QCD Approach

In this paper we calculate the power corrections to the pion transition form factor within the framework of perturbative QCD approach on the basis of $k_T$ factorization. The power suppressed contributions from higher twist pion wave functions and the hadronic structure of photon are investigated. We find that there exists strong cancellation between the two kinds contributions, thus the total power corrections considered currently are very small, and the prediction of the leading power contribution with joint resummation improved perturbative QCD approach is almost unchanged. This result confirms that the pion transition form factor is a good platform to constrain the nonperturbative parameters in pion wave functions. Moreover, our result can accommodate the anomalous data from BaBar, or agrees with results from Belle according to the choice of Gegebauer moment in the pion wave function, and the more precise experimental data from Belle-II is expected.

Subleading power corrections to $B\to γlν$ decay in PQCD approach

The leptonic radiative decay $B \to γlν$ is of great importance in the determination of $B$ meson wave functions, and evaluating the form factors $ F_{V,A}$ are the essential problem on the study of this channel. We computed next-to-leading power corrections to the form factors within the framework of PQCD approach, including the power suppressed hard kernel, the contribution from a complete set of three-particle $B$ meson wave functions up to twist-4 and two-particle off light-cone wave functions, the $1/m_b$ corrections in heavy quark effective theory, and the contribution from hadronic structure of photon. In spite of large theoretical uncertainties, the overall power suppressed contributions decreases about $50\%$ of the leading power result. The $λ_B$ dependence of the integrated branching ratio is reduced after including the subleading power contributions, thus the power corrections lead to more ambiguity in the determination of $λ_B$ from $B \to γlν$ decay.

QCD calculations of $B \to π, K$ form factors with higher-twist corrections

We update QCD calculations of $B \to π, K$ form factors at large hadronic recoil by including the subleading-power corrections from the higher-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) up to the twist-six accuracy and the strange-quark mass effects at leading-power in $Λ/m_b$ from the twist-two $B$-meson LCDA $ϕ_B^{+}(ω, μ)$. The higher-twist corrections from both the two-particle and three-particle $B$-meson LCDAs are computed from the light-cone QCD sum rules (LCSR) at tree level. In particular, we construct the local duality model for the twist-five and -six $B$-meson LCDAs, in agreement with the corresponding asymptotic behaviours at small quark and gluon momenta, employing the QCD sum rules in heavy quark effective theory at leading order in $α_s$. The strange quark mass effects in semileptonic $B \to K$ form factors yield the leading-power contribution in the heavy quark expansion, consistent with the power-counting analysis in soft-collinear effective theory, and they are also computed from the LCSR approach due to the appearance of the rapidity singularities. We further explore the phenomenological aspects of the semileptonic $B \to π\ell ν$ decays and the rare exclusive processes $B \to K νν$, including the determination of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$, the normalized differential $q^2$ distributions and precision observables defined by the ratios of branching fractions for the above-mentioned two channels in the same intervals of $q^2$.

Weak decays of doubly heavy baryons: "decay constants"

Inspired by the recent observation of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ by LHCb collaboration, we explore the "decay constants" of doubly heavy baryons in the framework of QCD sum rules. With the $Ξ_{cc}, Ξ_{bc}, Ξ_{bb}$, and $Ω_{cc}, Ω_{bc}, Ω_{bb}$ baryons interpolated by three-quark operators, we calculate the correlation functions using the operator product expansion and include the contribution from operators up to dimension six. On the hadron side, we consider both contributions from the lowest-lying states with $J^P=1/2^+$ and from negative parity baryons with $J^P=1/2^-$. We find that the results are stable and the contaminations from negative parity baryons are not severe. These results are ingredients for the QCD study of weak decays and other properties of doubly-heavy baryons.

Exclusive production of $B_c$ mesons in $e^+e^-$ colliders

Within the framework of the perturbative QCD approach, we calculate the time-like $B_cB_c(B_c^*)$ form factors $F(Q^2)$ and $A_2(Q^2)$. We include relativistic corrections and QCD corrections, either of which can give about $20\%$ correction to the leading-order contribution, but there are cancellation effects between them. We calculate the cross sections of the $e^+e^-\to B_c^-B_c^+(B_c^{*+})$ processes. The cross sections are enhanced at the $Z$ pole to be $σ^{PP}(Q=m_Z) \sim 1.3\times10^{-5}\text{pb}$ and $σ^{PV}(Q=m_Z) \sim 2.5\times10^{-5}\text{pb}$, which are still too small to be detected by proposed $e^+e^-$ colliders such as the Circular Electron Positron Collider.

Subleading-power corrections to the radiative leptonic $B \to γ\ell ν$ decay in QCD

Applying the method of light-cone sum rules with photon distribution amplitudes, we compute the subleading-power correction to the radiative leptonic $B \to γ\ell ν$ decay, at next-to-leading order in QCD for the twist-two contribution and at leading order in $α_s$ for the higher-twist contributions, induced by the hadronic component of the collinear photon. The leading-twist hadronic photon effect turns out to preserve the symmetry relation between the two $B \to γ$ form factors due to the helicity conservation, however, the higher-twist hadronic photon corrections can yield symmetry-breaking effect already at tree level in QCD. Using the conformal expansion of photon distribution amplitudes with the non-perturbative parameters estimated from QCD sum rules, the twist-two hadronic photon contribution can give rise to approximately 30\% correction to the leading-power "direct photon" effect computed from the perturbative QCD factorization approach. In contrast, the subleading-power corrections from the higher-twist two-particle and three-particle photon distribution amplitudes are estimated to be of ${\cal O} (3 \sim 5\%)$ with the light-cone sum rule approach. We further predict the partial branching fractions of $B \to γ\ell ν$ with a photon-energy cut $E_γ \geq E_{\rm cut}$, which are of interest for determining the inverse moment of the leading-twist $B$-meson distribution amplitude thanks to the forthcoming high-luminosity Belle II experiment at KEK.

Renormalization group equation improved analysis of $B \to π$ form factors from Light-Cone Sum Rules

Within the framework of $B$-meson light-cone sum rules, we compute the one-loop level QCD corrections to $B\to π$ transition form factors at small $ q^{2}$ region, in implement of a complete renormalization group equation evolution. To solve the renormalization group equations, we work at the "dual" space where the anomalous dimensions of the jet function and the light-cone distribution amplitudes are diagonal. With the complete renormalization group equation evolution, the form factors are almost independent of the factorization scale, which is shown numerically. We also extrapolate the results of the form factors to the whole $q^2$ region, and compare their behavior with other studies.

Subleading power corrections to the pion-photon transition form factor in QCD

We reconsider QCD factorization for the leading power contribution to the $γ^{\ast} γ\to π^0$ form factor $F_{γ^{\ast} γ\to π^0} (Q^2)$ at one loop using the evanescent operator approach, and demonstrate the equivalence of the resulting factorization formulae derived with distinct prescriptions of $γ_5$ in dimensional regularization. Applying the light-cone QCD sum rules (LCSRs) with photon distribution amplitudes (DAs) we further compute the subleading power contribution to the pion-photon form factor induced by the "hadronic" component of the real photon at the next-to-leading-order in ${\cal O}(α_s)$, with both naive dimensional regularization and 't Hooft-Veltman schemes of $γ_5$. Confronting our theoretical predictions of $F_{γ^{\ast} γ\to π^0} (Q^2)$ with the experimental measurements from the BaBar and the Belle Collaborations implies that a reasonable agreement can be achieved without introducing an "exotic" end-point behaviour for the twist-2 pion DA.

Perturbative corrections to $B \to D$ form factors in QCD

We compute perturbative QCD corrections to $B \to D$ form factors at leading power in $Λ/m_b$, at large hadronic recoil, from the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) with $B$-meson distribution amplitudes in HQET. QCD factorization for the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation function with an interpolating current for the $D$-meson is demonstrated explicitly at one loop with the power counting scheme $m_c \sim {\cal O} \left (\sqrt{Λ\, m_b} \right ) $. The jet functions encoding information of the hard-collinear dynamics in the above-mentioned correlation function are complicated by the appearance of an additional hard-collinear scale $m_c$, compared to the counterparts entering the factorization formula of the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correction function for the construction of $B \to π$ from factors. Inspecting the next-to-leading-logarithmic sum rules for the form factors of $B \to D \ell ν$ indicates that perturbative corrections to the hard-collinear functions are more profound than that for the hard functions, with the default theory inputs, in the physical kinematic region. We further compute the subleading power correction induced by the three-particle quark-gluon distribution amplitudes of the $B$-meson at tree level employing the background gluon field approach. The LCSR predictions for the semileptonic $B \to D \ell ν$ form factors are then extrapolated to the entire kinematic region with the $z$-series parametrization. Phenomenological implications of our determinations for the form factors $f_{BD}^{+, 0}(q^2)$ are explored by investigating the (differential) branching fractions and the $R(D)$ ratio of $B \to D \ell ν$ and by determining the CKM matrix element $|V_{cb}|$ from the total decay rate of $B \to D μν_μ$.

Perturbative Corrections to $Λ_b \to Λ$ Form Factors from QCD Light-Cone Sum Rules

We compute radiative corrections to $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors, at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy, from QCD light-cone sum rules with $Λ_b$-baryon distribution amplitudes. Employing the diagrammatic approach factorization of the vacuum-to-$Λ_b$-baryon correlation function is justified at leading power in $Λ/m_b$, with the aid of the method of regions. Hard functions entering the factorization formulae are identical to the corresponding matching coefficients of heavy-to-light currents from QCD onto soft-collinear effective theory. The universal jet function from integrating out the hard-collinear fluctuations exhibits richer structures compared with the one involved in the factorization expressions of the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation function. Based upon the QCD resummation improved sum rules we observe that the perturbative corrections at ${\cal O}(α_s)$ shift the $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors at large recoil significantly and the dominant contribution originates from the next-to-leading order jet function instead of the hard coefficient functions. Having at hand the sum rule predictions for the $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors we further investigate several decay observables in the electro-weak penguin $Λ_b \to Λ\, \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ transitions in the factorization limit (i.e., ignoring the "non-factorizable" hadronic effects which cannot be expressed in terms of the $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors), including the invariant mass distribution of the lepton pair, the forward-backward asymmetry in the dilepton system and the longitudinal polarization fraction of the leptonic sector.

QCD corrections to $B \to π$ form factors from light-cone sum rules

We compute perturbative corrections to $B \to π$ form factors from QCD light-cone sum rules with $B$-meson distribution amplitudes. Applying the method of regions we demonstrate factorization of the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation function defined with an interpolating current for pion, at one-loop level, explicitly in the heavy quark limit. The short-distance functions in the factorization formulae of the correlation function involves both hard and hard-collinear scales; and these functions can be further factorized into hard coefficients by integrating out the hard fluctuations and jet functions encoding the hard-collinear information. Resummation of large logarithms in the short-distance functions is then achieved via the standard renormalization-group approach. We further show that structures of the factorization formulae for $f_{B π}^{+}(q^2)$ and $f_{B π}^{0}(q^2)$ at large hadronic recoil from QCD light-cone sum rules match that derived in QCD factorization. In particular, we perform an exploratory phenomenological analysis of $B \to π$ form factors, paying attention to various sources of perturbative and systematic uncertainties, and extract $|V_{ub}|= \left(3.05^{+0.54}_{-0.38} |_{\rm th.} \pm 0.09 |_{\rm exp.}\right) \times 10^{-3}$ with the inverse moment of the $B$-meson distribution amplitude $ϕ_B^{+}(ω)$ determined by reproducing $f_{B π}^{+}(q^2=0)$ obtained from the light-cone sum rules with $π$ distribution amplitudes. Furthermore, we present the invariant-mass distributions of the lepton pair for $B \to π\ell ν_{\ell}$ ($\ell= μ\,, τ$) in the whole kinematic region. Finally, we discuss non-valence Fock state contributions to the $B \to π$ form factors $f_{B π}^{+}(q^2)$ and $f_{B π}^{0}(q^2)$ in brief.

Rapidity resummation for $B$-meson wave functions

Transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) hadronic wave functions develop light-cone divergences under QCD corrections, which are commonly regularized by the rapidity $ζ$ of gauge vector defining the non-light-like Wilson lines. The yielding rapidity logarithms from infrared enhancement need to be resummed for both hadronic wave functions and short-distance functions, to achieve scheme-independent calculations of physical quantities. We briefly review the recent progress on the rapidity resummation for $B$-meson wave functions which are the key ingredients of TMD factorization formulae for radiative-leptonic, semi-leptonic and non-leptonic $B$-meson decays. The crucial observation is that rapidity resummation induces a strong suppression of $B$-meson wave functions at small light-quark momentum, strengthening the applicability of TMD factorization in exclusive $B$-meson decays. The phenomenological consequence of rapidity-resummation improved $B$-meson wave functions is further discussed in the context of $B \to π$ transition form factors at large hadronic recoil.

Joint resummation for pion wave function and pion transition form factor

We construct an evolution equation for the pion wave function in the $k_T$ factorization theorem, whose solution sums the mixed logarithm $\ln x\ln k_T$ to all orders, with $x$ ($k_T$) being a parton momentum fraction (transverse momentum). This joint resummation induces strong suppression of the pion wave function in the small $x$ and large $b$ regions, $b$ being the impact parameter conjugate to $k_T$, and improves the applicability of perturbative QCD to hard exclusive processes. The above effect is similar to those from the conventional threshold resummation for the double logarithm $\ln^2 x$ and the conventional $k_T$ resummation for $\ln^2 k_T$. Combining the evolution equation for the hard kernel, we are able to organize all large logarithms in the $γ^{\ast} π^{0} \to γ$ scattering, and to establish a scheme-independent $k_T$ factorization formula. It will be shown that the significance of next-to-leading-order contributions and saturation behaviors of this process at high energy differ from those under the conventional resummations. It implies that QCD logarithmic corrections to a process must be handled appropriately, before its data are used to extract a hadron wave function. Our predictions for the involved pion transition form factor, derived under the joint resummation and the input of a non-asymptotic pion wave function with the second Gegenbauer moment $a_2=0.05$, match reasonably well the CLEO, BaBar, and Belle data.
