ScienceIDE: Turning World's Scientific Codebase into Agent Learnable Environments

Scientific code repositories encode decades of human knowledge in executable models, methods, and tools. Yet fragmented toolchains, implicit domain conventions, and specialized correctness criteria make this knowledge difficult to convert into reliable learning experience-a challenge we call the scientific experience bottleneck. We introduce ScienceIDE, infrastructure for turning the world's scientific code into programmable environments for scientific agents. Guided by expert-defined scientific cases and acceptance criteria, agents transform repositories into executable environments that support task generation, execution, and scientific verification. These environments provide a shared foundation for supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and evaluation. Using verified interaction trajectories, we train PhAI-IDE-72B, PhAI-IDE-9B, and PhAI-IDE-4B. The model family shows gains in held-out scientific-code repair and across selected general-purpose benchmarks in code, reasoning, and knowledge, providing evidence of positive transfer from scientific experience to broader capabilities. ScienceIDE lays the foundation for an integrated workspace for agent learning and scientific practice, making humanity's scientific software a shared substrate for developing scientific intelligence. Three-Wave Mixing Element with Quantum Paraelectric Materials

At cryogenic temperatures and microwave frequencies, the perovskite crystals strontium titanate (STO) and potassium tantalate (KTO) have large, tunable permittivity arising from a quantum paraelectric phase. As such, these materials hold promise as a platform to realize compact, variable capacitance elements for use in quantum devices. From modulating this capacitance, we propose the development of a parametric mixing element: a quantum paraelectric nonlinear dielectric amplifier (PANDA). We calculate that a PANDA made from a nanofabricated parallel plate capacitor and realistic design constraints can demonstrate a three-wave mixing strength of order MHz, in comparison to an effective Kerr strength of sub-Hz. This suggests excellent performance as a three-wave mixing element, with high compression power in analogy to superconducting parametric amplifiers based on kinetic inductance. Beyond parametric amplifiers, we predict that compact, tunable capacitors based on STO, KTO, and related materials can enable a wide class of cryogenic quantum circuits including novel filters, switches, circulators, and qubits.

Quantum supremacy with spin squeezed atomic ensembles

We propose a method to achieve quantum supremacy using ensembles of qubits, using only spin squeezing, basis rotations, and Fock state measurements. Each ensemble is assumed to be controllable only with its total spin. Using a repeated sequence of random basis rotations followed by squeezing, we show that the probability distribution of the final measurements quickly approaches a Porter-Thomas distribution. We show that the sampling probability can be related to a #P-hard problem with a complexity scaling as $(N+1)^M$, where $N$ is the number of qubits in an ensemble and $ M $ is the number of ensembles. The scheme can be implemented with hot or cold atomic ensembles. Due to the large number of atoms in typical atomic ensembles, this allows access to the quantum supremacy regime with a modest number of ensembles or gate depth.
