Ferromagnetic resonance and spin Hall magnetoresistance of Tm3Fe5O12 films

Ferromagnetic insulating garnet films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) are of great importance for the applications in spintronics. Tm3Fe5O12 (TmIG) with magnetoelastic anisotropy has been proven to exhibit PMA more easily than Y3Fe5O12. Here, magnetic parameters of TmIG films with various thicknesses are investigated by ferromagnetic resonance. The relationship between effective magnetic magnetization, surface perpendicular anisotropy field, magnetic anisotropy constants and film thickness is established. The parameters of spin Hall angle, spin diffusion length, and real part of the spin mixing conductance are obtained from the measurements of angular dependent magnetoresistance of TmIG/Pt heterostructures.

Angular dependent ferromagnetic resonance of exfoliated yttrium iron garnet film under stress

Yttrium iron garnet (Y3Fe5O12, YIG) plays a significant role in the field of spintronics due to its low magnetic damping and insulating characteristics. However, most studies have focused on YIG in bulk form or as film grown on rigid substrates. In this study, YIG film has been exfoliated from two-layer-graphene covered (111) Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG) substrate. Magnetic properties of YIG film under stress are investigated in detail via angular dependent ferromagnetic resonance. The relationship between magnetic parameters and compressive/tensile stress has been established. The findings of this work will be beneficial for the applications of flexible YIG film.

Generating Long-form Story Using Dynamic Hierarchical Outlining with Memory-Enhancement

Long-form story generation task aims to produce coherent and sufficiently lengthy text, essential for applications such as novel writingand interactive storytelling. However, existing methods, including LLMs, rely on rigid outlines or lack macro-level planning, making it difficult to achieve both contextual consistency and coherent plot development in long-form story generation. To address this issues, we propose Dynamic Hierarchical Outlining with Memory-Enhancement long-form story generation method, named DOME, to generate the long-form story with coherent content and plot. Specifically, the Dynamic Hierarchical Outline(DHO) mechanism incorporates the novel writing theory into outline planning and fuses the plan and writing stages together, improving the coherence of the plot by ensuring the plot completeness and adapting to the uncertainty during story generation. A Memory-Enhancement Module (MEM) based on temporal knowledge graphs is introduced to store and access the generated content, reducing contextual conflicts and improving story coherence. Finally, we propose a Temporal Conflict Analyzer leveraging temporal knowledge graphs to automatically evaluate the contextual consistency of long-form story. Experiments demonstrate that DOME significantly improves the fluency, coherence, and overall quality of generated long stories compared to state-of-the-art methods.

Enhancing Perception Capabilities of Multimodal LLMs with Training-Free Fusion

Multimodal LLMs (MLLMs) equip language models with visual capabilities by aligning vision encoders with language models. Existing methods to enhance the visual perception of MLLMs often involve designing more powerful vision encoders, which requires exploring a vast design space and re-aligning each potential encoder with the language model, resulting in prohibitively high training costs. In this paper, we introduce VisionFuse, a novel integration framework that efficiently utilizes multiple vision encoders from off-the-shelf MLLMs to enhance visual perception without requiring additional training. Our approach is motivated by the observation that different MLLMs tend to focus on distinct regions given the same query and image. Moreover, we find that the feature distributions of vision encoders within an MLLM family, a group of MLLMs sharing the same pretrained LLM, are highly aligned. Building on these insights, VisionFuse enriches the visual context by concatenating the tokens generated by the vision encoders of selected MLLMs within a family. By merging the parameters of language models from these MLLMs, VisionFuse allows a single language model to align with various vision encoders, significantly reducing deployment overhead. We conduct comprehensive evaluations across multiple multimodal benchmarks using various MLLM combinations, demonstrating substantial improvements in multimodal tasks. Notably, when integrating MiniGemini-8B and SLIME-8B, VisionFuse achieves an average performance increase of over 4%.

MpoxMamba: A Grouped Mamba-based Lightweight Hybrid Network for Mpox Detection

Due to the lack of effective mpox detection tools, the mpox virus continues to spread worldwide and has once again been declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization. Lightweight deep learning model-based detection systems are crucial to alleviate mpox outbreaks since they are suitable for widespread deployment, especially in resource-limited scenarios. However, the key to its successful application depends on ensuring that the model can effectively model local features and long-range dependencies in mpox lesions while maintaining lightweight. Inspired by the success of Mamba in modeling long-range dependencies and its linear complexity, we proposed a lightweight hybrid architecture called MpoxMamba for efficient mpox detection. MpoxMamba utilizes depth-wise separable convolutions to extract local feature representations in mpox skin lesions and greatly enhances the model's ability to model the global contextual information by grouped Mamba modules. Notably, MpoxMamba's parameter size and FLOPs are 0.77M and 0.53G, respectively. Experimental results on two widely recognized benchmark datasets demonstrate that MpoxMamba outperforms state-of-the-art lightweight models and existing mpox detection methods. Importantly, we developed a web-based online application to provide free mpox detection (http://5227i971s5.goho.co:30290). A Design of Hadronic Calorimeter for DarkSHINE Experiment

The sensitivity of the dark photon search through invisible decay final states in low background experiments significantly relies on the neutron and muon veto efficiency, which depends on the amount of material used and the design of detector geometry. This paper presents an optimized design of a hadronic calorimeter (HCAL) used for the DarkSHINE experiment, which is studied using a GEANT4-based simulation framework. The geometry is optimized by comparing a traditional design with uniform absorbers to one that uses different thicknesses at different locations of the detector, which enhances the efficiency of vetoing low-energy neutrons at the sub-GeV level. The overall size and total amount of material used in HCAL are optimized to be lower due to the load and budget requirements, while the overall performance is studied to meet the physical objectives.

Multi-periodicity dependency Transformer based on spectrum offset for radio frequency fingerprint identification

Radio Frequency Fingerprint Identification (RFFI) has emerged as a pivotal task for reliable device authentication. Despite advancements in RFFI methods, background noise and intentional modulation features result in weak energy and subtle differences in the RFF features. These challenges diminish the capability of RFFI methods in feature representation, complicating the effective identification of device identities. This paper proposes a novel Multi-Periodicity Dependency Transformer (MPDFormer) to address these challenges. The MPDFormer employs a spectrum offset-based periodic embedding representation to augment the discrepency of intrinsic features. We delve into the intricacies of the periodicity-dependency attention mechanism, integrating both inter-period and intra-period attention mechanisms. This mechanism facilitates the extraction of both long and short-range periodicity-dependency features , accentuating the feature distinction whilst concurrently attenuating the perturbations caused by background noise and weak-periodicity features. Empirical results demonstrate MPDFormer's superiority over established baseline methods, achieving a 0.07s inference time on NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX.

Theoretical Study on the Structural and Thermodynamic Properties of U-He compounds under High Pressure

Uranium is considered as a very important nuclear energy material because of the huge amount of energy released. As the main products of spontaneous decay of uranium, helium is difficult to react with uranium for its chemical inertness. Therefore, bubbles will be formed inside uranium, which could greatly reduce the performance of uranium or cause the safety problems. Additionally, nuclear materials are usually operated in an environment of high-temperature and high-pressure, so it is necessary to figure out the exact state of helium inside uranium at extreme conditions. Here, we explored the structural stability of U-He system under high-pressure and high-temperature by using density functional theory calculations. Two metastable phases are found between 50 and 400 GPa: U4He with space group Fmmm and U6He with space group P-1. Both are metallic and adopt layered structures. Electron localization function calculation combined with charge density difference analysis indicate that there are covalent bonds between U and U atoms in both Fmmm-U4He and P-1-U6He. Compared with the elastic modulus of $α$-U, the addition of helium has certain influence on the mechanical properties of uranium. Besides, first-principles molecular dynamics simulations were carried out to study the dynamical behavior of Fmmm-U4He and P-1-U6He at high-temperature. It is found that Fmmm-U4He and P-1-U6He undergo one-dimensional superionic phase transitions at 150 GPa. Our study revealed exotic structure of U-He compounds beyond the form of bubble under high-pressure and high-temperature, that might be relevant to the performance and safety issue of nuclear materials at extreme conditions.

Chat-Edit-3D: Interactive 3D Scene Editing via Text Prompts

Recent work on image content manipulation based on vision-language pre-training models has been effectively extended to text-driven 3D scene editing. However, existing schemes for 3D scene editing still exhibit certain shortcomings, hindering their further interactive design. Such schemes typically adhere to fixed input patterns, limiting users' flexibility in text input. Moreover, their editing capabilities are constrained by a single or a few 2D visual models and require intricate pipeline design to integrate these models into 3D reconstruction processes. To address the aforementioned issues, we propose a dialogue-based 3D scene editing approach, termed CE3D, which is centered around a large language model that allows for arbitrary textual input from users and interprets their intentions, subsequently facilitating the autonomous invocation of the corresponding visual expert models. Furthermore, we design a scheme utilizing Hash-Atlas to represent 3D scene views, which transfers the editing of 3D scenes onto 2D atlas images. This design achieves complete decoupling between the 2D editing and 3D reconstruction processes, enabling CE3D to flexibly integrate a wide range of existing 2D or 3D visual models without necessitating intricate fusion designs. Experimental results demonstrate that CE3D effectively integrates multiple visual models to achieve diverse editing visual effects, possessing strong scene comprehension and multi-round dialog capabilities. An Iterative Associative Memory Model for Empathetic Response Generation

Empathetic response generation aims to comprehend the cognitive and emotional states in dialogue utterances and generate proper responses. Psychological theories posit that comprehending emotional and cognitive states necessitates iteratively capturing and understanding associated words across dialogue utterances. However, existing approaches regard dialogue utterances as either a long sequence or independent utterances for comprehension, which are prone to overlook the associated words between them. To address this issue, we propose an Iterative Associative Memory Model (IAMM) for empathetic response generation. Specifically, we employ a novel second-order interaction attention mechanism to iteratively capture vital associated words between dialogue utterances and situations, dialogue history, and a memory module (for storing associated words), thereby accurately and nuancedly comprehending the utterances. We conduct experiments on the Empathetic-Dialogue dataset. Both automatic and human evaluations validate the efficacy of the model. Variant experiments on LLMs also demonstrate that attending to associated words improves empathetic comprehension and expression.

Anomalously Strong Size Effect on Thermal Conductivity of Diamond Microparticles

Diamond has the known highest thermal conductivity of around \SI{2000}{\watt\per\meter\per\kelvin} and is therefore widely used for heat dissipation. In practical applications, synthetic diamond microparticles are usually assumed to have similar thermal conductivity to that of bulk diamond because the particle size is larger than theoretical phonon mean free path so that boundary scattering of heat-carrying phonons is absent. In this report, we find the thermal conductivity of diamond microparticles anomalously depends on their sizes. Thermal conductivity of diamond microparticles increases from \SI{400}{\watt\per\meter\per\kelvin} to \SI{2000}{\watt\per\meter\per\kelvin} with the size growing from \SI{20}{\micro\meter} to \SI{300}{\micro\meter}. We attribute the abnormally strong size effect to the long-range defects during the growth process based on analysis of point defects, dislocations, and thermal penetration depth dependence of thermal conductivity. Our results play a vital role in the design of diamond composites and in the improvement of thermal conductivity of synthetic diamonds.

Progressive Volume Distillation with Active Learning for Efficient NeRF Architecture Conversion

Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) have been widely adopted as practical and versatile representations for 3D scenes, facilitating various downstream tasks. However, different architectures, including the plain Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Tensors, low-rank Tensors, Hashtables, and their combinations, entail distinct trade-offs. For instance, representations based on Hashtables enable faster rendering but lack clear geometric meaning, thereby posing challenges for spatial-relation-aware editing. To address this limitation and maximize the potential of each architecture, we propose Progressive Volume Distillation with Active Learning (PVD-AL), a systematic distillation method that enables any-to-any conversion between diverse architectures. PVD-AL decomposes each structure into two parts and progressively performs distillation from shallower to deeper volume representation, leveraging effective information retrieved from the rendering process. Additionally, a three-level active learning technique provides continuous feedback from teacher to student during the distillation process, achieving high-performance outcomes. Experimental evidence showcases the effectiveness of our method across multiple benchmark datasets. For instance, PVD-AL can distill an MLP-based model from a Hashtables-based model at a 10~20X faster speed and 0.8dB~2dB higher PSNR than training the MLP-based model from scratch. Moreover, PVD-AL permits the fusion of diverse features among distinct structures, enabling models with multiple editing properties and providing a more efficient model to meet real-time requirements like mobile devices. Exploiting Emotion-Semantic Correlations for Empathetic Response Generation

Empathetic response generation aims to generate empathetic responses by understanding the speaker's emotional feelings from the language of dialogue. Recent methods capture emotional words in the language of communicators and construct them as static vectors to perceive nuanced emotions. However, linguistic research has shown that emotional words in language are dynamic and have correlations with other grammar semantic roles, i.e., words with semantic meanings, in grammar. Previous methods overlook these two characteristics, which easily lead to misunderstandings of emotions and neglect of key semantics. To address this issue, we propose a dynamical Emotion-Semantic Correlation Model (ESCM) for empathetic dialogue generation tasks. ESCM constructs dynamic emotion-semantic vectors through the interaction of context and emotions. We introduce dependency trees to reflect the correlations between emotions and semantics. Based on dynamic emotion-semantic vectors and dependency trees, we propose a dynamic correlation graph convolutional network to guide the model in learning context meanings in dialogue and generating empathetic responses. Experimental results on the EMPATHETIC-DIALOGUES dataset show that ESCM understands semantics and emotions more accurately and expresses fluent and informative empathetic responses. Our analysis results also indicate that the correlations between emotions and semantics are frequently used in dialogues, which is of great significance for empathetic perception and expression.

ITportrait: Image-Text Coupled 3D Portrait Domain Adaptation

Domain adaptation of 3D portraits has gained more and more attention. However, the transfer mechanism of existing methods is mainly based on vision or language, which ignores the potential of vision-language combined guidance. In this paper, we propose an Image-Text multi-modal framework, namely Image and Text portrait (ITportrait), for 3D portrait domain adaptation. ITportrait relies on a two-stage alternating training strategy. In the first stage, we employ a 3D Artistic Paired Transfer (APT) method for image-guided style transfer. APT constructs paired photo-realistic portraits to obtain accurate artistic poses, which helps ITportrait to achieve high-quality 3D style transfer. In the second stage, we propose a 3D Image-Text Embedding (ITE) approach in the CLIP space. ITE uses a threshold function to self-adaptively control the optimization direction of images or texts in the CLIP space. Comprehensive experiments prove that our ITportrait achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) results and benefits downstream tasks. All source codes and pre-trained models will be released to the public.

DCIR: Dynamic Consistency Intrinsic Reward for Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

Learning optimal behavior policy for each agent in multi-agent systems is an essential yet difficult problem. Despite fruitful progress in multi-agent reinforcement learning, the challenge of addressing the dynamics of whether two agents should exhibit consistent behaviors is still under-explored. In this paper, we propose a new approach that enables agents to learn whether their behaviors should be consistent with that of other agents by utilizing intrinsic rewards to learn the optimal policy for each agent. We begin by defining behavior consistency as the divergence in output actions between two agents when provided with the same observation. Subsequently, we introduce dynamic consistency intrinsic reward (DCIR) to stimulate agents to be aware of others' behaviors and determine whether to be consistent with them. Lastly, we devise a dynamic scale network (DSN) that provides learnable scale factors for the agent at every time step to dynamically ascertain whether to award consistent behavior and the magnitude of rewards. We evaluate DCIR in multiple environments including Multi-agent Particle, Google Research Football and StarCraft II Micromanagement, demonstrating its efficacy.

Editing 3D Scenes via Text Prompts without Retraining

Numerous diffusion models have recently been applied to image synthesis and editing. However, editing 3D scenes is still in its early stages. It poses various challenges, such as the requirement to design specific methods for different editing types, retraining new models for various 3D scenes, and the absence of convenient human interaction during editing. To tackle these issues, we introduce a text-driven editing method, termed DN2N, which allows for the direct acquisition of a NeRF model with universal editing capabilities, eliminating the requirement for retraining. Our method employs off-the-shelf text-based editing models of 2D images to modify the 3D scene images, followed by a filtering process to discard poorly edited images that disrupt 3D consistency. We then consider the remaining inconsistency as a problem of removing noise perturbation, which can be solved by generating training data with similar perturbation characteristics for training. We further propose cross-view regularization terms to help the generalized NeRF model mitigate these perturbations. Our text-driven method allows users to edit a 3D scene with their desired description, which is more friendly, intuitive, and practical than prior works. Empirical results show that our method achieves multiple editing types, including but not limited to appearance editing, weather transition, material changing, and style transfer. Most importantly, our method generalizes well with editing abilities shared among a set of model parameters without requiring a customized editing model for some specific scenes, thus inferring novel views with editing effects directly from user input.
