The golden ratio prediction for the solar neutrino mixing

We present a simple texture that predicts the cotangent of the solar neutrino mixing angle to be equal to the golden ratio. This prediction is 1.4 standard deviations below the present best-fit value and final SNO and KamLAND data could discriminate it from tri-bi-maximal mixing. The neutrino mass matrix is invariant under a Z_2 x Z'_2 symmetry: that geometrically is a reflection along the diagonal of the golden rectangle. Assuming an analogous structure in the quark sector suggests a golden prediction for the Cabibbo angle, theta_C = pi/4- theta_12 = 13.3 degree, up to uncertainties comparable to V_{ub}.

Lepton Flavor Violating tau decay by R-Parity Violation in a Family Symmetry

In this talk, we investigate Lepton Flavor Violating (LFV) tau decay by R-Parity Violating (RPV) operators controlled by a non-Abelian discrete $Q_6$ family symmetry. We assume that only a family symmetry determines the whole flavor structure of a model, and the model indicates specific predictions of LFV tau decay processes by RPV operators. We predict $BR(τ\to 3e)/BR(τ\to 3 μ) \sim 4 m_μ^2/m_τ^2$ in a $Q_6$ family symmetric model.

R-Parity Violation and Family Symmetry

In this talk, we investigate the implications of R-parity violating (RPV) operators in a model with family symmetry. Family symmetry can determine the form of RPV operators as well as the Yukawa matrices. We consider a concrete model with non-abelian discrete symmetry Q_6, which has only three RPV trilinear operators with no baryon number violating terms. We find that ratios of decay rates of the lepton flavor violating processes are fixed thanks to the family symmetry, predicting BR(tau to 3e)/BR(tau to 3mu) ~ 4 m_{mu}^2/m_{tau}^2.

R-Parity Violation and Non-Abelian Discrete Family Symmetry

We investigate the implications of R-parity violating operators in a model with family symmetry. The family symmetry can determine the form of R-parity violating operators as well as the Yukawa matrices responsible for fermion masses and mixings. In this paper we consider a concrete model with non-abelian discrete symmetry Q_6 which contains only three R-parity violating operators. We find that ratios of decay rates of the lepton flavor violating processes are fixed thanks to the family symmetry, predicting BR(tau to 3e)/BR(tau to 3mu) ~ 4 m_{mu}^2/m_{tau}^2.

Nonabelian Discrete Family Symmetry to Soften the SUSY Flavor Problem and to Suppress Proton Decay

Family symmetry could explain large mixing of the atmospheric neutrinos. The same symmetry could explain why the flavor changing current processes in supersymmetric standard models can be so suppressed. It also may be able to explain why the proton is so stable. We investigate these questions in a supersymmetric, renormalizable extension of the standard model, which possess a family symmetry based on a binary dihedral group Q_6. We find that the amplitude for μ\to e+γenjoys a suppression factor proportional to |(V_{MNS})_{e3}| ~ m_e/(\sqrt{2}m_μ) ~ 3.4\times 10^{-3}, and that B(p \to K^0 μ^+)/B(p \to K^0 e^+) ~ |(V_{MNS})_{e3}|^2 ~ 10^{-5}, where V_{MNS} is the neutrino mixing matrix.

Double Suppression of FCNCs in Supersymmetric Models

A mechanism for double suppression of flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) and CP violating phases in supersymmetric models is suggested. At M_{SUSY} they are suppressed due to a nonabelian discrete flavor symmetry, and the infrared attractive force of gauge interactions in extra dimensions are used to suppress them at the compactification scale. We present a concrete model, which is a simple extension of S_{3} invariant minimal supersymmetric standard model, where only SU(2)_{L} and SU(3)_{C} gauge multiplets are assumed to propagate in the bulk. We find that a disorder of two orders of magnitude in soft supersymmetry breaking parameters above the compactification scale may be allowed to satisfy experimental constraints on FCNC processes and CP violating phenomena.

Softening the Supersymmetric Flavor Problem in Orbifold GUTs

The infra-red attractive force of the bulk gauge interactions is applied to soften the supersymmetric flavor problem in the orbifold SU(5) GUT of Kawamura. Then this force aligns in the infra-red regime the soft supersymmetry breaking terms out of their anarchical disorder at a fundamental scale, in such a way that flavor-changing neutral currents as well as dangerous CP-violating phases are suppressed at low energies. It is found that this dynamical alignment is sufficiently good compared with the current experimental bounds, as long as the diagonalization matrices of the Yukawa couplings are CKM-like.
