Least-Squares Prices of Games

What are the prices of random variables? In this paper, we define the least-squares prices of coin-flipping games, which are proved to be minimal, positive linear, and arbitrage-free. These prices depend both on a set of games that are available for investing simultaneously and on a risk-free interest rate. In addition, we show a case where the mean-variance portfolio theory is inappropriate.

A new market model in the large volatility case

We will compare three types of prices, namely, rational (hedging) prices, geometric (growth rate) prices, and martingale (measure) prices. We will show that rational prices in the complete market theory are sometimes contrary to common sense. In the continuous-time case, we insist that the market model should differ between the small volatility case and the large volatility case.

Delta Hedging without the Black-Scholes Formula

We introduce a new method of delta hedging. In many cases, this method results in a lower cost than the Black-Scholes method. To calculate the cost of hedging, we develop a Mathematica program that include the two-dimensional Newton-Raphson method.

Game pricing and double sequence of random variables

In this paper, we study a game with positive or plus infinite expectation and determine the optimal proportion of investment for maximizing the limit expectation of growth rate per attempt. With this objective, we introduce a new pricing method in which the price is different from that obtained by the Black-Scholes formula for a European option.

Ratio of price to expectation and complete Bernstein functions

For a game with positive expectation and some negative profit, a unique price exists, at which the optimal proportion of investment reaches its maximum. For a game with parallel translated profit, the ratio of this price to its expectation tends to converge toward less than or equal to 1/2 if its expectation converges to 0. In this paper, we will investigate such properties by using the integral representations of a complete Bernstein function and establish several Abelian and Tauberian theorems.

Translation Invariance of Investment

For a game with positive profit, the optimal proportion of investment required to continue investing without borrowing is uniquely determined by an integral equation for each price. For a game with parallel translated profit, the ratio of the optimal proportion of investment to its price has some invariance properties. The optimal price of a game with parallel translated profit converges to its expectation divided by e to the riskless interest rate for a certain period.
