Concept-Level Risk and Calibration for Governance in Diffusion Foundation Models

Diffusion models have become a core paradigm for multimedia generation, offering powerful concept-driven controllability for personalization, semantic editing, and selective unlearning. However, as semantic control extends beyond natural-language prompts to learned embeddings and intervention pipelines, the safety and governance of these systems become increasingly difficult to evaluate in a unified manner, especially for safety-sensitive, identity-linked, and other privacy-relevant concepts. Existing studies mainly rely on heuristic audits, adversarial probing, or task-specific erasure benchmarks, and therefore provide limited support for systematic comparison across models, conditioning channels, and deployment conditions. We present a concept-level probabilistic audit and reporting framework for diffusion models. We formalize governance-relevant concept behaviors as Bernoulli semantic events induced by stochastic generation, and define a Concept Risk Operator that maps model-channel configurations to structured risk profiles, enabling comparison across prompting interfaces, learned embedding channels, models, and recorded conditions. We apply sample-level post-hoc calibration and configuration-level risk aggregation, and show that probability error can change thresholded actions near policy boundaries. Experiments on SD1.5, SD2.1, and SDXL reveal consistent yet non-uniform operational risk patterns across concept families, channels, recorded conditions, and shifted protocols. In particular, embedding-based access and obfuscated prompts expose risks often understated by standard-prompt evaluation. A pooled multi-protocol calibrator improves held-out probability reliability, but we do not claim transfer from a standard-only calibrator. CLRC provides a common audit schema for probabilistic and decision-aware governance of multimedia generation systems.

Degradation-Aware Adaptive Context Gating for Unified Image Restoration

Unified image restoration using a single model often faces task interference due to diverse degradations. To address this, we propose DACG-IR (Degradation-Aware Adaptive Context Gating), which enables explicit perception of degradation characteristics to dynamically modulate feature representations. Our method constructs degradation-aware contextual representations from the input to modulate attention distribution, frequency-domain features, and feature aggregation. Specifically, a lightweight multi-scale degradation-aware module extracts coarse degradation information and generates layer-wise prompts. These prompts guide attention temperature and output gating in encoder and decoder blocks for adaptive feature extraction. Additionally, a spatial-channel dual-gated adaptive fusion mechanism refines encoder features, suppressing noise propagation from shallow to deep layers. This design effectively suppresses degradation-induced noise while preserving informative structures. Experiments show DACG-IR outperforms state-of-the-art methods in single-task, all-in-one, adverse weather removal, and composite degradation settings. Code: https://github.com/HlHomes/DACG-IR-code

Viewport-Unaware Blind Omnidirectional Image Quality Assessment: A Unified and Generalized Approach

Blind omnidirectional image quality assessment (BOIQA) presents a great challenge to the visual quality assessment community, due to different storage formats and diverse user viewing behaviors. The main paradigm of BOIQA models includes two steps, ie, viewport generation, and quality prediction, which brings an extra computational burden and is hard to generalize to other visual contents (eg, 2D planar image). Thus, in this paper, we make an attempt to solve these issues. First, we experimentally find that BOIQA can be formulated as a blind (2D planar) image quality assessment (BIQA) problem, ie, the first step - viewport generation - is no longer needed, which narrows the natural gap between BOIQA and BIQA. Then, we present a new BOIQA approach, which has three merits: ie, viewport-unaware - it accepts an omnidirectional image in the widely used equirectangular projection format as input without any transformation; unified - it can also be applied to BIQA; and generalized - it shows better generalizability against other competitors. Finally, we validate its promise by held-out test, cross-database validation, and the well-established gMAD competition.

Causal Disentanglement-Inspired Degradation Representation Learning for Full-Reference Image Quality Assessment

Existing deep network-based full-reference image quality assessment (FR-IQA) models typically work by performing pairwise comparisons of deep features from the reference and distorted images. In this paper, we approach this problem from a different perspective and propose a novel FR-IQA paradigm based on causal inference and decoupled representation learning. Unlike typical feature comparison-based FR-IQA models, our approach formulates degradation estimation as a causal disentanglement process guided by intervention on latent representations. We first decouple degradation and content representations by exploiting the content invariance between the reference and distorted images. Second, inspired by the human visual masking effect, we design a masking module to model the causal relationship between image content and degradation features, thereby extracting content-influenced degradation features from distorted images. Finally, quality scores are predicted from these degradation features using either supervised regression or label-free dimensionality reduction. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves highly competitive performance on standard IQA benchmarks across fully supervised, few-label, and label-free settings. Furthermore, we evaluate the approach on diverse non-standard natural image domains with scarce data, including underwater, radiographic, medical, neutron, and screen-content images. Benefiting from its ability to perform scenario-specific training and prediction without labeled IQA data, our method exhibits superior cross-domain generalization compared to existing training-free FR-IQA models.

Spatio-Temporal Attention Enhanced Multi-Agent DRL for UAV-Assisted Wireless Networks with Limited Communications

In this paper, we employ multiple UAVs to accelerate data transmissions from ground users (GUs) to a remote base station (BS) via the UAVs' relay communications. The UAVs' intermittent information exchanges typically result in delays in acquiring the complete system state and hinder their effective collaboration. To maximize the overall throughput, we first propose a delay-tolerant multi-agent deep reinforcement learning (MADRL) algorithm that integrates a delay-penalized reward to encourage information sharing among UAVs, while jointly optimizing the UAVs' trajectory planning, network formation, and transmission control strategies. Additionally, considering information loss due to unreliable channel conditions, we further propose a spatio-temporal attention based prediction approach to recover the lost information and enhance each UAV's awareness of the network state. These two designs are envisioned to enhance the network capacity in UAV-assisted wireless networks with limited communications. The simulation results reveal that our new approach achieves over 50\% reduction in information delay and 75% throughput gain compared to the conventional MADRL. Interestingly, it is shown that improving the UAVs' information sharing will not sacrifice the network capacity. Instead, it significantly improves the learning performance and throughput simultaneously. It is also effective in reducing the need for UAVs' information exchange and thus fostering practical deployment of MADRL in UAV-assisted wireless networks.

Generative Artificial Intelligence Assisted Multi-modal Semantic Extraction for NOMA-based Image Transmissions

In this paper, we investigate a generative artificial intelligence (GAI)-assisted semantic communication framework for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-based image transmissions. Semantic users (SUs) extract cross-modal semantic features from the raw images, which are then used for image recovery by leveraging a GAI model. The GAI enhances the generalization and recovery of semantic image transmissions, while NOMA efficiently allocates transmission capacities to SUs based on their traffic demands. Thus, the semantic extraction and transmission control jointly affect both semantic recovery performance and transmission overhead. We maximize a weighted performance of transmission latency and semantic recovery accuracy by jointly optimizing the semantic feature selection at the semantic level, as well as the receive beamforming and NOMA decoding order at the transmission level. To reduce potential redundancy in semantic features and improve optimization efficiency, we develop an importance-aware and model-driven proximal policy optimization (IM-PPO) framework. Specifically, we quantify and retain high-importance semantic features to enhance the learning efficiency of PPO, while model-based optimization methods are used to adapt the transmission control variables. Numerical results validate that the joint adjustment of the semantic feature selection and the transmission control significantly improves the semantic recovery accuracy and the transmission latency performance. Moreover, the IM-PPO framework effectively leverages the model information to improve the learning efficiency compared to benchmark methods.

From Global to Granular: Revealing IQA Model Performance via Correlation Surface

Evaluation of Image Quality Assessment (IQA) models has long been dominated by global correlation metrics, such as Pearson Linear Correlation Coefficient (PLCC) and Spearman Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient (SRCC). While widely adopted, these metrics reduce performance to a single scalar, failing to capture how ranking consistency varies across the local quality spectrum. For example, two IQA models may achieve identical SRCC values, yet one ranks high-quality images (related to high Mean Opinion Score, MOS) more reliably, while the other better discriminates image pairs with small quality/MOS differences (related to $|\Delta$MOS$|$). Such complementary behaviors are invisible under global metrics. Moreover, SRCC and PLCC are sensitive to test-sample quality distributions, yielding unstable comparisons across test sets. To address these limitations, we propose \textbf{Granularity-Modulated Correlation (GMC)}, which provides a structured, fine-grained analysis of IQA performance. GMC includes: (1) a \textbf{Granularity Modulator} that applies Gaussian-weighted correlations conditioned on absolute MOS values and pairwise MOS differences ($|\Delta$MOS$|$) to examine local performance variations, and (2) a \textbf{Distribution Regulator} that regularizes correlations to mitigate biases from non-uniform quality distributions. The resulting \textbf{correlation surface} maps correlation values as a joint function of MOS and $|\Delta$MOS$|$, providing a 3D representation of IQA performance. Experiments on standard benchmarks show that GMC reveals performance characteristics invisible to scalar metrics, offering a more informative and reliable paradigm for analyzing, comparing, and deploying IQA models. PanFoMa: A Lightweight Foundation Model and Benchmark for Pan-Cancer

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) is essential for decoding tumor heterogeneity. However, pan-cancer research still faces two key challenges: learning discriminative and efficient single-cell representations, and establishing a comprehensive evaluation benchmark. In this paper, we introduce PanFoMa, a lightweight hybrid neural network that combines the strengths of Transformers and state-space models to achieve a balance between performance and efficiency. PanFoMa consists of a front-end local-context encoder with shared self-attention layers to capture complex, order-independent gene interactions; and a back-end global sequential feature decoder that efficiently integrates global context using a linear-time state-space model. This modular design preserves the expressive power of Transformers while leveraging the scalability of Mamba to enable transcriptome modeling, effectively capturing both local and global regulatory signals. To enable robust evaluation, we also construct a large-scale pan-cancer single-cell benchmark, PanFoMaBench, containing over 3.5 million high-quality cells across 33 cancer subtypes, curated through a rigorous preprocessing pipeline. Experimental results show that PanFoMa outperforms state-of-the-art models on our pan-cancer benchmark (+4.0\%) and across multiple public tasks, including cell type annotation (+7.4\%), batch integration (+4.0\%) and multi-omics integration (+3.1\%). Diagnosing Corruption-Induced Reliability Failures in Vision-Language Models

Visual corruptions can change vision--language model (VLM) behavior in ways that top-1 accuracy does not capture. A model may keep the same answer while losing distributional support, or improve accuracy through unstable wrong-to-correct changes. We introduce Bench-C, a controlled multiple-choice testbed for studying these effects. It selects semantically diverse samples whose predictions respond to corruption, and evaluates them under 19 corruption types and five severity levels. To measure how corruption changes the option distribution, we introduce the Robustness Alignment Score (RAS), which combines confidence-correctness alignment with uncertainty direction. We further separate originally correct samples from originally wrong samples, and track whether changes are temporary or persistent across severity. Experiments across 13 VLMs reveal a counterintuitive pattern: mild corruptions can improve top-1 accuracy while degrading prediction structure. These failures include silent degradation, erroneous overconfidence, and severity-dependent persistence. Bench-C therefore supports robustness evaluation that goes beyond final answers and attributes where reliability changes occur. Code and data are available at https://github.com/xiangjieSui/Bench-C.

Make Identity Unextractable yet Perceptible: Synthesis-Based Privacy Protection for Subject Faces in Photos

Deep learning-based face recognition (FR) technology exacerbates privacy concerns in photo sharing. In response, the research community developed a suite of anti-FR methods to block identity extraction by unauthorized FR systems. Benefiting from quasi-imperceptible alteration, perturbation-based methods are well-suited for privacy protection of subject faces in photos, as they allow familiar persons to recognize subjects via naked eyes. However, we reveal that perturbation-based methods provide a false sense of privacy through theoretical analysis and experimental validation. Therefore, new alternative solutions should be found to protect subject faces. In this paper, we explore synthesis-based methods as a promising solution, whose challenge is to enable familiar persons to recognize subjects. To solve the challenge, we present a key insight: In most photo sharing scenarios, familiar persons recognize subjects through identity perception rather than meticulous face analysis. Based on the insight, we propose the first synthesis-based method dedicated to subject faces, i.e., PerceptFace, which can make identity unextractable yet perceptible. To enhance identity perception, a new perceptual similarity loss is designed for faces, reducing the alteration in regions of high sensitivity to human vision. As a synthesis-based method, PerceptFace can inherently provide reliable identity protection. Meanwhile, out of the confine of meticulous face analysis, PerceptFace focuses on identity perception from a more practical scenario, which is also enhanced by the designed perceptual similarity loss. Sufficient experiments show that PerceptFace achieves a superior trade-off between identity protection and identity perception compared to existing methods. We provide a public API of PerceptFace and believe that it has great potential to become a practical anti-FR tool.

Uncertainty Awareness on Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Time Series Data

Unsupervised domain adaptation methods seek to generalize effectively on unlabeled test data, especially when encountering the common challenge in time series data that distribution shifts occur between training and testing datasets. In this paper, we propose incorporating multi-scale feature extraction and uncertainty estimation to improve the model's generalization and robustness across domains. Our approach begins with a multi-scale mixed input architecture that captures features at different scales, increasing training diversity and reducing feature discrepancies between the training and testing domains. Based on the mixed input architecture, we further introduce an uncertainty awareness mechanism based on evidential learning by imposing a Dirichlet prior on the labels to facilitate both target prediction and uncertainty estimation. The uncertainty awareness mechanism enhances domain adaptation by aligning features with the same labels across different domains, which leads to significant performance improvements in the target domain. Additionally, our uncertainty-aware model demonstrates a much lower Expected Calibration Error (ECE), indicating better-calibrated prediction confidence. Our experimental results show that this combined approach of mixed input architecture with the uncertainty awareness mechanism achieves state-of-the-art performance across multiple benchmark datasets, underscoring its effectiveness in unsupervised domain adaptation for time series data.

CMF-IoU: Multi-Stage Cross-Modal Fusion 3D Object Detection with IoU Joint Prediction

Multi-modal methods based on camera and LiDAR sensors have garnered significant attention in the field of 3D detection. However, many prevalent works focus on single or partial stage fusion, leading to insufficient feature extraction and suboptimal performance. In this paper, we introduce a multi-stage cross-modal fusion 3D detection framework, termed CMF-IOU, to effectively address the challenge of aligning 3D spatial and 2D semantic information. Specifically, we first project the pixel information into 3D space via a depth completion network to get the pseudo points, which unifies the representation of the LiDAR and camera information. Then, a bilateral cross-view enhancement 3D backbone is designed to encode LiDAR points and pseudo points. The first sparse-to-distant (S2D) branch utilizes an encoder-decoder structure to reinforce the representation of sparse LiDAR points. The second residual view consistency (ResVC) branch is proposed to mitigate the influence of inaccurate pseudo points via both the 3D and 2D convolution processes. Subsequently, we introduce an iterative voxel-point aware fine grained pooling module, which captures the spatial information from LiDAR points and textural information from pseudo points in the proposal refinement stage. To achieve more precise refinement during iteration, an intersection over union (IoU) joint prediction branch integrated with a novel proposals generation technique is designed to preserve the bounding boxes with both high IoU and classification scores. Extensive experiments show the superior performance of our method on the KITTI, nuScenes and Waymo datasets.

PointGAC: Geometric-Aware Codebook for Masked Point Cloud Modeling

Most masked point cloud modeling (MPM) methods follow a regression paradigm to reconstruct the coordinate or feature of masked regions. However, they tend to over-constrain the model to learn the details of the masked region, resulting in failure to capture generalized features. To address this limitation, we propose \textbf{\textit{PointGAC}}, a novel clustering-based MPM method that aims to align the feature distribution of masked regions. Specially, it features an online codebook-guided teacher-student framework. Firstly, it presents a geometry-aware partitioning strategy to extract initial patches. Then, the teacher model updates a codebook via online k-means based on features extracted from the complete patches. This procedure facilitates codebook vectors to become cluster centers. Afterward, we assigns the unmasked features to their corresponding cluster centers, and the student model aligns the assignment for the reconstructed masked features. This strategy focuses on identifying the cluster centers to which the masked features belong, enabling the model to learn more generalized feature representations. Benefiting from a proposed codebook maintenance mechanism, codebook vectors are actively updated, which further increases the efficiency of semantic feature learning. Experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed method on various downstream tasks. Code is available at https://github.com/LAB123-tech/PointGAC

Towards Realistic Low-Light Image Enhancement via ISP Driven Data Modeling

Deep neural networks (DNNs) have recently become the leading method for low-light image enhancement (LLIE). However, despite significant progress, their outputs may still exhibit issues such as amplified noise, incorrect white balance, or unnatural enhancements when deployed in real world applications. A key challenge is the lack of diverse, large scale training data that captures the complexities of low-light conditions and imaging pipelines. In this paper, we propose a novel image signal processing (ISP) driven data synthesis pipeline that addresses these challenges by generating unlimited paired training data. Specifically, our pipeline begins with easily collected high-quality normal-light images, which are first unprocessed into the RAW format using a reverse ISP. We then synthesize low-light degradations directly in the RAW domain. The resulting data is subsequently processed through a series of ISP stages, including white balance adjustment, color space conversion, tone mapping, and gamma correction, with controlled variations introduced at each stage. This broadens the degradation space and enhances the diversity of the training data, enabling the generated data to capture a wide range of degradations and the complexities inherent in the ISP pipeline. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our synthetic pipeline, we conduct extensive experiments using a vanilla UNet model consisting solely of convolutional layers, group normalization, GeLU activation, and convolutional block attention modules (CBAMs). Extensive testing across multiple datasets reveals that the vanilla UNet model trained with our data synthesis pipeline delivers high fidelity, visually appealing enhancement results, surpassing state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods both quantitatively and qualitatively.

Recurrent Feature Mining and Keypoint Mixup Padding for Category-Agnostic Pose Estimation

Category-agnostic pose estimation aims to locate keypoints on query images according to a few annotated support images for arbitrary novel classes. Existing methods generally extract support features via heatmap pooling, and obtain interacted features from support and query via cross-attention. Hence, these works neglect to mine fine-grained and structure-aware (FGSA) features from both support and query images, which are crucial for pixel-level keypoint localization. To this end, we propose a novel yet concise framework, which recurrently mines FGSA features from both support and query images. Specifically, we design a FGSA mining module based on deformable attention mechanism. On the one hand, we mine fine-grained features by applying deformable attention head over multi-scale feature maps. On the other hand, we mine structure-aware features by offsetting the reference points of keypoints to their linked keypoints. By means of above module, we recurrently mine FGSA features from support and query images, and thus obtain better support features and query estimations. In addition, we propose to use mixup keypoints to pad various classes to a unified keypoint number, which could provide richer supervision than the zero padding used in existing works. We conduct extensive experiments and in-depth studies on large-scale MP-100 dataset, and outperform SOTA method dramatically (+3.2\%PCK@0.05). Code is avaiable at https://github.com/chenbys/FMMP.

Diffusion-based Facial Aesthetics Enhancement with 3D Structure Guidance

Facial Aesthetics Enhancement (FAE) aims to improve facial attractiveness by adjusting the structure and appearance of a facial image while preserving its identity as much as possible. Most existing methods adopted deep feature-based or score-based guidance for generation models to conduct FAE. Although these methods achieved promising results, they potentially produced excessively beautified results with lower identity consistency or insufficiently improved facial attractiveness. To enhance facial aesthetics with less loss of identity, we propose the Nearest Neighbor Structure Guidance based on Diffusion (NNSG-Diffusion), a diffusion-based FAE method that beautifies a 2D facial image with 3D structure guidance. Specifically, we propose to extract FAE guidance from a nearest neighbor reference face. To allow for less change of facial structures in the FAE process, a 3D face model is recovered by referring to both the matched 2D reference face and the 2D input face, so that the depth and contour guidance can be extracted from the 3D face model. Then the depth and contour clues can provide effective guidance to Stable Diffusion with ControlNet for FAE. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method is superior to previous relevant methods in enhancing facial aesthetics while preserving facial identity.

Viewport-Unaware Blind Omnidirectional Image Quality Assessment: A Flexible and Effective Paradigm

Most of existing blind omnidirectional image quality assessment (BOIQA) models rely on viewport generation by modeling user viewing behavior or transforming omnidirectional images (OIs) into varying formats; however, these methods are either computationally expensive or less scalable. To solve these issues, in this paper, we present a flexible and effective paradigm, which is viewport-unaware and can be easily adapted to 2D plane image quality assessment (2D-IQA). Specifically, the proposed BOIQA model includes an adaptive prior-equator sampling module for extracting a patch sequence from the equirectangular projection (ERP) image in a resolution-agnostic manner, a progressive deformation-unaware feature fusion module which is able to capture patch-wise quality degradation in a deformation-immune way, and a local-to-global quality aggregation module to adaptively map local perception to global quality. Extensive experiments across four OIQA databases (including uniformly distorted OIs and non-uniformly distorted OIs) demonstrate that the proposed model achieves competitive performance with low complexity against other state-of-the-art models, and we also verify its adaptive capacity to 2D-IQA.
