Impact of Satellite Constellations on Observations with the 80-cm Telescope and the Mini-SiTian at the Xinglong Observatory, NAOC

The rapid development of mega-constellations in low Earth orbit (LEO) severely impacts ground-based optical astronomical observations. By combining WorldWide Telescope (WWT) simulations with 2019 and 2023 observational data from the Xinglong Observatory 80-cm telescope and 2023 data from the Mini-SiTian (MST), we find that satellite visibility increases with deployment, particularly during the summer. For the 80-cm telescope, the fraction of images containing satellite trails increased from an average of 0.34% in 2019 to 0.7% in 2023; meanwhile, for the MST in 2023, the fraction rose from 5% in January to 12% by December, peaking at 19% in the summer. Through stratified analysis of solar elevation and local time, we find that observations during twilight and summer are particularly susceptible to satellite trail interference. Photometric analysis reveals that the interference intensity increases for fainter sources and those closer to the trails. Furthermore, a comparative analysis across different seeing conditions shows that the deviation of median standardized residuals (σ) is significantly greater under poor seeing than under good seeing conditions.

The Mini-SiTian Array: first-two-year operation

The SiTian project, designed to utilize 60 telescopes distributed across multiple sites in China, is a next-generation time-domain survey initiative. As a pathfinder for the SiTian project, the Mini-SiTian (MST) has been proposed and implemented to test the SiTian's brain and data pipeline, and to evaluate the feasibility of its technology and science cases. Mounted at the Xinglong Observatory, the MST project comprises three 30 cm telescopes and has been operated since Nov. 2022. Each telescope of the MST possesses a large field of view, covering $2.29^{\circ}$ $\times$ $1.53^{\circ}$ FOV, and is equipped with $g'$, $r'$ and $i'$ filters, respectively. Acting as the pioneer of the forthcoming SiTian project, the MST is dedicated to the discovery of variable stars, transients, and outburst events, and has already obtained some interesting scientific results. In this paper, we will summarize the first-two-year operation of the MST project.

Mining double-line spectroscopic candidates in the LAMOST medium-resolution spectroscopic survey using human-AI hybrid method

We utilize a hybrid approach that integrates the traditional cross-correlation function (CCF) and machine learning to detect spectroscopic multi-systems, specifically focusing on double-line spectroscopic binary (SB2). Based on the ninth data release (DR9) of the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST), which includes a medium-resolution survey (MRS) containing 29,920,588 spectra, we identify 27,164 double-line and 3124 triple-line spectra, corresponding to 7096 SB2 candidates and 1903 triple-line spectroscopic binary (SB3) candidates, respectively, representing about 1% of the selection dataset from LAMOST-MRS DR9. Notably, 70.1% of the SB2 candidates and 89.6% of the SB3 candidates are newly identified. Compared to using only the traditional CCF technique, our method significantly improves the efficiency of detecting SB2, saves time on visual inspections by a factor of four.
