Stability and rigidity of 3-Lie algebra morphisms

In this paper, first we use the higher derived brackets to construct an $L_\infty$-algebra, whose Maurer-Cartan elements are $3$-Lie algebra morphisms. Using the differential in the $L_\infty$-algebra that govern deformations of the morphism, we give the cohomology of a $3$-Lie algebra morphism. Then we study the rigidity and stability of $3$-Lie algebra morphisms using the established cohomology theory. In particular, we show that if the first cohomology group is trivial, then the morphism is rigid; if the second cohomology group is trivial, then the morphism is stable. Finally, we study the stability of $3$-Lie subalgebras similarly.

Deformation maps of quasi-twilled Lie algebras

In this paper, we provide a unified approach to study the cohomology theories and deformation theories of various types of operators in the category of Lie algebras, including modified $r$-matrices, crossed homomorphisms, derivations, homomorphisms, relative Rota-Baxter operators, twisted Rota-Baxter operators, Reynolds operators and deformation maps of matched pairs of Lie algebras. The main ingredients are quasi-twilled Lie algebras. We introduce two types of deformation maps of a quasi-twilled Lie algebra. Deformation maps of type I unify modified $r$-matrices, crossed homomorphisms, derivations and homomorphisms between Lie algebras, while deformation maps of type II unify relative Rota-Baxter operators, twisted Rota-Baxter operators, Reynolds operators and deformation maps of matched pairs of Lie algebras. We further give the controlling algebras and cohomologies of these two types of deformation maps, which not only recover the existing results for crossed homomorphisms, derivations, homomorphisms, relative Rota-Baxter operators, twisted Rota-Baxter operators and Reynolds operators, but also leads to some new results which are unable to solve before, e.g. the controlling algebras and cohomologies of modified $r$-matrices and deformation maps of matched pairs of Lie algebras.

Cohomology and Homotopy of Lie triple systems

In this paper, first we give the controlling algebra of Lie triple systems. In particular, the cohomology of Lie triple systems can be characterized by the controlling algebra. Then using controlling algebras, we introduce the notions of homotopy Nambu algebras and homotopy Lie triple systems. We show that $2$-term homotopy Lie triple systems is equivalent to Lie triple $2$-systems, and the latter is the categorification of a Lie triple system. Finally we study skeletal and strict Lie triple $2$-systems. We show that skeletal Lie triple $2$-systems can be classified the third cohomology group, and strict Lie triple $2$-systems are equivalent to crossed modules of Lie triple systems.

Relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight 0 on groups, pre-groups, braces, the Yang-Baxter equation and $T$-structures

In this paper, we study relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $0$ on groups and give various examples. In particular, we propose different approaches to study Rota-Baxter operators of weight $0$ on groups and Lie groups. We establish various explicit relations among relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $0$ on groups, pre-groups, braces, set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation and $T$-structures.

Symplectic structure, product structures and complex structures on Leibniz algebras

In this paper, a symplectic structure on a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a {\em symmetric} nondegenerate bilinear form satisfying certain compatibility condition, and a phase space of a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a symplectic Leibniz algebra satisfying certain conditions. We show that a Leibniz algebra has a phase space if and only if there is a compatible Leibniz-dendriform algebra, and phase spaces of Leibniz algebras one-to-one corresponds to Manin triples of Leibniz-dendriform algebras. Product (paracomplex) structures and complex structures on Leibniz algebras are studied in terms of decompositions of Leibniz algebras. A para-Kähler structure on a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a symplectic structure and a paracomplex structure satisfying a compatibility condition. We show that a symplectic Leibniz algebra admits a para-Kähler structure if and only if the Leibniz algebra is the direct sum of two isotropic subalgebras as vector spaces. A complex product structure on a Leibniz algebra consists of a complex structure and a product structure satisfying a compatibility condition. A pseudo-Kähler structure on a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a symplectic structure and a complex structure satisfying a compatibility condition. Various properties and relations of complex product structures and pseudo-Kähler structures are studied. In particular, Leibniz-dendriform algebras give rise to complex product structures and pseudo-Kähler structures naturally.

Deformations of modified $r$-matrices and cohomologies of related algebraic structures

Modified $r$-matrices are solutions of the modified classical Yang-Baxter equation, introduced by Semenov-Tian-Shansky, and play important roles in mathematical physics. In this paper, first we introduce a cohomology theory for modified $r$-matrices. Then we study three kinds of deformations of modified $r$-matrices using the established cohomology theory, including algebraic deformations, geometric deformations and linear deformations. We give the differential graded Lie algebra that governs algebraic deformations of modified $r$-matrices. For geometric deformations, we prove the rigidity theorem and study when is a neighborhood of a modified $r$-matrix smooth in the space of all modified $r$-matrix structures. In the study of trivial linear deformations, we introduce the notion of a Nijenhuis element for a modified $r$-matrix. Finally, applications are given to study deformations of complement of the diagonal Lie algebra and compatible Poisson structures.

From relative Rota-Baxter operators and relative averaging operators on Lie algebras to relative Rota-Baxter operators on Leibniz algebras: a uniform approach

In this paper, first we construct two subcategories (using symmetric representations and antisymmetric representations) of the category of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Leibniz algebras, and establish the relations with the categories of relative Rota-Baxter operators and relative averaging operators on Lie algebras. Then we show that there is a short exact sequence describing the relation between the controlling algebra of relative Rota-Baxter operators on a Leibniz algebra with respect to a symmetric (resp. antisymmetric) representation and the controlling algebra of the induced relative Rota-Baxter operators (resp. averaging operators) on the canonical Lie algebra associated to the Leibniz algebra. Finally, we show that there is a long exact sequence describing the relation between the cohomology groups of a relative Rota-Baxter operator on a Leibniz algebra with respect to a symmetric (resp. antisymmetric) representation and the cohomology groups of the induced relative Rota-Baxter operator (resp. averaging operator) on the canonical Lie algebra.

Post-groups, (Lie-)Butcher groups and the Yang-Baxter equation

The notions of a post-group and a pre-group are introduced as a unification and enrichment of several group structures appearing in diverse areas from numerical integration to the Yang-Baxter equation. First the Butcher group from numerical integration on Euclidean spaces and the $\mathcal{P}$-group of an operad $\mathcal{P}$ naturally admit a pre-group structure. Next a relative Rota-Baxter operator on a group naturally splits the group structure to a post-group structure. Conversely, a post-group gives rise to a relative Rota-Baxter operator on the sub-adjacent group. Further a post-group gives a braided group and a solution of the Yang-Baxter equation. Indeed the category of post-groups is isomorphic to the category of braided groups and the category of skew-left braces. Moreover a post-Lie group differentiates to a post-Lie algebra structure on the vector space of left invariant vector fields, showing that post-Lie groups are the integral objects of post-Lie algebras. Finally, post-Hopf algebras and post-Lie Magnus expansions are utilized to study the formal integration of post-Lie algebras. As a byproduct, a post-group structure is explicitly determined on the Lie-Butcher group from numerical integration on manifolds.

Omni-representations of Leibniz algebras

In this paper, first we introduce the notion of an omni-representation of a Leibniz algebra $\g$ on a vector space $V$ as a Leibniz algebra homomorphism from $\g$ to the omni-Lie algebra $\gl(V)\oplus V$. Then we introduce the omni-cohomology theory associated to omni-representations and establish the relation between omni-cohomology groups and Loday-Pirashvili cohomology groups.

$3$-post-Lie algebras and relative Rota-Baxter operators of nonzero weight on $3$-Lie algebras

In this paper, first we introduce the notions of relative Rota-Baxter operators of nonzero weight on $3$-Lie algebras and $3$-post-Lie algebras. A 3-post-Lie algebra consists of a 3-Lie algebra structure and a ternary operation such that some compatibility conditions are satisfied. We show that a relative Rota-Baxter operator of nonzero weight induces a $3$-post-Lie algebra naturally. Conversely, a $3$-post-Lie algebra gives rise to a new 3-Lie algebra, which is called the subadjacent 3-Lie algebra, and an action on the original 3-Lie algebra. Then we construct an $L_\infty$-algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are relative Rota-Baxter operators of nonzero weight. Consequently, we obtain the twisted $L_\infty$-algebra that controls deformations of a given relative Rota-Baxter operator of nonzero weight on 3-Lie algebras. Finally, we introduce a cohomology theory for a relative Rota-Baxter operator of nonzero weight on $3$-Lie algebras and use the second cohomology group to classify infinitesimal deformations.

A survey on deformations, cohomologies and homotopies of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras

In this paper, we review deformation, cohomology and homotopy theories of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, which have attracted quite much interest recently. Using Voronov's higher derived brackets, one can obtain an $L_\infty$-algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras. Then using the twisting method, one can obtain the $L_\infty$-algebra that controls deformations of a relative \RB Lie algebra. Meanwhile, the cohomologies of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras can also be defined with the help of the twisted $L_\infty$-algebra. Using the controlling algebra approach, one can also introduce the notion of homotopy relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras with close connection to pre-Lie$_\infty$-algebras. Finally, we briefly review deformation, cohomology and homotopy theories of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras of nonzero weights.

Cohomologies of difference Lie groups and van Est theorem

A difference Lie group is a Lie group equipped with a difference operator, equivalently a crossed homomorphism with respect to the adjoint action. In this paper, first we introduce the notion of a representation of a difference Lie group, and establish the relation between representations of difference Lie groups and representations of difference Lie algebras via differentiation and integration. Then we introduce a cohomology theory for difference Lie groups and justify it via the van Est theorem. Finally, we classify abelian extensions of difference Lie groups using the second cohomology group as applications.

Deformations and homotopy of Rota-Baxter operators and $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Lie algebras

This article gives a brief introduction to some recent work on deformation and homotopy theories of Rota-Baxter operators and more generally $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Lie algebras, by means of the differential graded Lie algebra approach. It is further shown that these theories lift the existing connection between $\mathcal{O}$-operators and pre-Lie algebras to the levels of deformations and homotopy.

Deformations, cohomologies and abelian extensions of compatible $3$-Lie algebras

In this paper, first we give the notion of a compatible $3$-Lie algebra and construct a bidifferential graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are compatible $3$-Lie algebras. We also obtain the bidifferential graded Lie algebra that governs deformations of a compatible $3$-Lie algebra. Then we introduce a cohomology theory of a compatible $3$-Lie algebra with coefficients in itself and show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between equivalent classes of infinitesimal deformations of a compatible $3$-Lie algebra and the second cohomology group. We further study 2-order 1-parameter deformations of a compatible $3$-Lie algebra and introduce the notion of a Nijenhuis operator on a compatible $3$-Lie algebra, which could give rise to a trivial deformation. At last, we introduce a cohomology theory of a compatible $3$-Lie algebra with coefficients in arbitrary representation and classify abelian extensions of a compatible $3$-Lie algebra using the second cohomology group.

Deformations and Cohomologies of Relative Rota-Baxter Operators on Lie Algebroids and Koszul-Vinberg Structures

Given a Lie algebroid with a representation, we construct a graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie algebroids. We give the cohomology of relative Rota-Baxter operators and study infinitesimal deformations and extendability of order $n$ deformations to order $n+1$ deformations of relative Rota-Baxter operators in terms of this cohomology theory. We also construct a graded Lie algebra on the space of multi-derivations of a vector bundle whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize left-symmetric algebroids. We show that there is a homomorphism from the controlling graded Lie algebra of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie algebroids to the controlling graded Lie algebra of left-symmetric algebroids. Consequently, there is a natural homomorphism from the cohomology groups of a relative Rota-Baxter operator to the deformation cohomology groups of the associated left-symmetric algebroid. As applications, we give the controlling graded Lie algebra and the cohomology theory of Koszul-Vinberg structures on left-symmetric algebroids.

Coherent categorical structures for Lie bialgebras, Manin triples, classical $r$-matrices and pre-Lie algebras

The broadly applied notions of Lie bialgebras, Manin triples, classical $r$-matrices and $\mathcal{O}$-operators of Lie algebras owe their importance to the close relationship among them. Yet these notions and their correspondences are mostly understood as classes of objects and maps among the classes. To gain categorical insight, this paper introduces, for each of the classes, a notion of homomorphisms, uniformly called coherent homomorphisms, so that the classes of objects become categories and the maps among the classes become functors or category equivalences. For this purpose, we start with the notion of an endo Lie algebra, consisting of a Lie algebra equipped with a Lie algebra endomorphism. We then generalize the above classical notions for Lie algebras to endo Lie algebras. As a result, we obtain the notion of coherent endomorphisms for each of the classes, which then generalizes to the notion of coherent homomorphisms by a polarization process. The coherent homomorphisms are compatible with the correspondences among the various constructions, as well as with the category of pre-Lie algebras.

Lie theory and cohomology of relative Rota-Baxter operators

In this paper, we establish a local Lie theory for relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $1$. First we recall the category of relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $1$ on Lie algebras and construct a cohomology theory for them. We use the second cohomology group to study infinitesimal deformations of relative Rota-Baxter operators and modified $r$-matrices. Then we introduce a cohomology theory of relative Rota-Baxter operators on a Lie group. We construct the differentiation functor from the category of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie groups to that on Lie algebras, and extend it to the cohomology level by proving the Van Est theorem between the two cohomology theories. We integrate a relative Rota-Baxter operator of weight 1 on a Lie algebra to a local relative Rota-Baxter operator on the corresponding Lie group, and show that the local integration and differentiation are adjoint to each other. Finally, we give two applications of our integration of Rota-Baxter operators: one is to give an explicit formula for the factorization problem, and the other is to provide an integration for matched pairs.

Nonabelian embedding tensors

In this paper, first we introduce the notion of a nonabelian embedding tensor, which is a nonabelian generalization of an embedding tensor. Then we introduce the notion of a Leibniz-Lie algebra, which is the underlying algebraic structure of a nonabelian embedding tensor, and can also be viewed as a nonabelian generalization of a Leibniz algebra. Next using the derived bracket, we construct a differential graded Lie algebra, whose Maurer-Cartan elements are exactly nonabelian embedding tensors. Consequently, we obtain the differential graded Lie algebra that governs deformations of a nonabelian embedding tensor. Finally, we define the cohomology of a nonabelian embedding tensor and use the second cohomology group to characterize linear deformations.
