TGR: Advancing Industrial Recommendation from Generative-Paradigm Ranking toward Unified Generation and Reasoning

Industrial recommender systems typically rely on cascaded retrieval, pre-ranking, ranking, and reranking stages, whose separately optimized models limit scaling, fragment decision making, and lack semantic knowledge and reasoning. We present TGR (Tencent Generative Recommendation), an industrial framework that advances recommendation toward the generative paradigm along three coupled directions. TGR-GenRank upgrades ranking through CCFormer, which combines unified feature tokenization, a scalable Transformer backbone, feature-field separated cross attention, subspace token mixing, and hierarchical sequence compression while retaining per-item multi-task outputs. TGR-GenRec explores end-to-end generation under two paradigms: BARGE bridges item-boundary loss and semantic drift in hierarchical semantic-ID generation through item context-aware attention, hierarchical path reranking, and orthogonal dual-path decoding; HiGR performs whole-slate generation with prefix-structured semantic IDs, coarse-to-fine decoding, and listwise multi-objective alignment. TGR-Reason injects offline-generated semantic-ID reason tokens into online decoding, providing reasoning without request-time rollout. TGR is deployed across Tencent production surfaces serving hundreds of millions of users. CCFormer delivers significant gains in five A/B-tested scenarios and is fully launched in two, including +3.57% CTR and +1.71% advertising revenue. BARGE improves Hit@5 by 10.2-16.9% and yields +0.60% CTR and +1.70% reading time after full rollout. HiGR improves offline slate quality by 15.9-21.3% with a 5x inference speedup and achieves up to +1.22% watch time and +1.73% video views. TGR-Reason raises cold-start new-user Hit@1 by 477.8% and delivers +1.75% effective consumption and +13.09% new-user exposure-to-conversion online.

HiGR: Industrial-Scale Hierarchical Generative Slate Recommendation Framework in Tencent

Slate recommendation, which presents users with a ranked item list in a single display, is ubiquitous across mainstream online platforms. While recent generative recommendation methods have shown strong potential in modeling item sequences with semantic IDs, directly applying them to industrial-scale slate recommendation faces a fundamental disconnect: entangled SID spaces confound high-level list planning, fine-grained autoregressive decoding over long sequences limits semantic planning efficiency, and token-level objectives misalign with holistic slate quality. In this paper, we propose HiGR, an industrial-scale hierarchical generative framework for slate recommendation that bridges this disconnect through a co-designed pipeline. First, HiGR learns structured SIDs via a Prefix-Contrastive Residual Quantized VAE (PCRQ-VAE). By enforcing high-level prefixes to capture shared semantics, PCRQ-VAE creates a controllable discrete space that acts as a prerequisite for efficient planning. Leveraging this structured space, our Hierarchical Slate Decoder (HSD) shifts autoregressive modeling from entangled token-level decoding to coarse-grained preference embeddings. This design significantly reduces inference latency while allowing explicit global slate structure planning. Finally, this stable planning space enables an ORPO-based listwise alignment mechanism to optimize triple-objective implicit feedback-ranking fidelity, genuine user interest, and diversity. Extensive offline experiments show that HiGR outperforms state-of-the-art baselines by over 10% in offline recommendation quality while achieving a $5\times$ inference speedup. Online A/B tests on Tencent platforms further improve watch time by 1.22% and video plays by 1.73%. HiGR has been deployed on multiple Tencent platform surfaces, serving hundreds of millions of users and proving its industrial-scale applicability.

Interactive Spatiotemporal Token Attention Network for Skeleton-based General Interactive Action Recognition

Recognizing interactive action plays an important role in human-robot interaction and collaboration. Previous methods use late fusion and co-attention mechanism to capture interactive relations, which have limited learning capability or inefficiency to adapt to more interacting entities. With assumption that priors of each entity are already known, they also lack evaluations on a more general setting addressing the diversity of subjects. To address these problems, we propose an Interactive Spatiotemporal Token Attention Network (ISTA-Net), which simultaneously model spatial, temporal, and interactive relations. Specifically, our network contains a tokenizer to partition Interactive Spatiotemporal Tokens (ISTs), which is a unified way to represent motions of multiple diverse entities. By extending the entity dimension, ISTs provide better interactive representations. To jointly learn along three dimensions in ISTs, multi-head self-attention blocks integrated with 3D convolutions are designed to capture inter-token correlations. When modeling correlations, a strict entity ordering is usually irrelevant for recognizing interactive actions. To this end, Entity Rearrangement is proposed to eliminate the orderliness in ISTs for interchangeable entities. Extensive experiments on four datasets verify the effectiveness of ISTA-Net by outperforming state-of-the-art methods. Our code is publicly available at https://github.com/Necolizer/ISTA-Net

IGFormer: Interaction Graph Transformer for Skeleton-based Human Interaction Recognition

Human interaction recognition is very important in many applications. One crucial cue in recognizing an interaction is the interactive body parts. In this work, we propose a novel Interaction Graph Transformer (IGFormer) network for skeleton-based interaction recognition via modeling the interactive body parts as graphs. More specifically, the proposed IGFormer constructs interaction graphs according to the semantic and distance correlations between the interactive body parts, and enhances the representation of each person by aggregating the information of the interactive body parts based on the learned graphs. Furthermore, we propose a Semantic Partition Module to transform each human skeleton sequence into a Body-Part-Time sequence to better capture the spatial and temporal information of the skeleton sequence for learning the graphs. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art with a significant margin.

Graph Pooling via Coarsened Graph Infomax

Graph pooling that summaries the information in a large graph into a compact form is essential in hierarchical graph representation learning. Existing graph pooling methods either suffer from high computational complexity or cannot capture the global dependencies between graphs before and after pooling. To address the problems of existing graph pooling methods, we propose Coarsened Graph Infomax Pooling (CGIPool) that maximizes the mutual information between the input and the coarsened graph of each pooling layer to preserve graph-level dependencies. To achieve mutual information neural maximization, we apply contrastive learning and propose a self-attention-based algorithm for learning positive and negative samples. Extensive experimental results on seven datasets illustrate the superiority of CGIPool comparing to the state-of-the-art methods.
