MAPE: Defending Against Transferable Adversarial Attacks Using Multi-Source Adversarial Perturbations Elimination

Neural networks are vulnerable to meticulously crafted adversarial examples, leading to high-confidence misclassifications in image classification tasks. Due to their consistency with regular input patterns and the absence of reliance on the target model and its output information, transferable adversarial attacks exhibit a notably high stealthiness and detection difficulty, making them a significant focus of defense. In this work, we propose a deep learning defense known as multi-source adversarial perturbations elimination (MAPE) to counter diverse transferable attacks. MAPE comprises the single-source adversarial perturbation elimination (SAPE) mechanism and the pre-trained models probabilistic scheduling algorithm (PPSA). SAPE utilizes a thoughtfully designed channel-attention U-Net as the defense model and employs adversarial examples generated by a pre-trained model (e.g., ResNet) for its training, thereby enabling the elimination of known adversarial perturbations. PPSA introduces model difference quantification and negative momentum to strategically schedule multiple pre-trained models, thereby maximizing the differences among adversarial examples during the defense model's training and enhancing its robustness in eliminating adversarial perturbations. MAPE effectively eliminates adversarial perturbations in various adversarial examples, providing a robust defense against attacks from different substitute models. In a black-box attack scenario utilizing ResNet-34 as the target model, our approach achieves average defense rates of over 95.1\% on CIFAR-10 and over 71.5\% on Mini-ImageNet, demonstrating state-of-the-art performance.

HALO: Half-Frame-Rate Adaptive Learnable Operator for Lightweight STFT-Based Speech Enhancement

STFT-based speech enhancement typically adopts overlapping analysis frames. While overlap is essential for stable STFT processing, it makes adjacent frames highly correlated, causing redundant computation in lightweight models. We propose Half-frame-rate Adaptive Learnable Operator (HALO), a causal plug-in module that halves the internal frame rate without altering the STFT procedure. Broadly applicable to many lightweight models, HALO applies adaptive rate reduction before the backbone and restoration afterward, reconstructing the full-rate spectrum on the original STFT grid. Both reduction and restoration are implemented with lightweight dynamic convolutions. By halving the processed frame rate, HALO reduces backbone compute cost with no added algorithmic latency, freeing budget for channel widening. Experiments on the DNS3 dataset show consistent gains across diverse lightweight models under matched complexity, demonstrating the effectiveness of reducing overlap-induced redundancy.

Rethinking Flow and Diffusion Bridge Models for Speech Enhancement

Flow matching and diffusion bridge models have emerged as leading paradigms in generative speech enhancement, modeling stochastic processes between paired noisy and clean speech signals based on principles such as flow matching, score matching, and Schr\"odinger bridge. In this paper, we present a framework that unifies existing flow and diffusion bridge models by interpreting them as constructions of Gaussian probability paths with varying means and variances between paired data. Furthermore, we investigate the underlying consistency between the training/inference procedures of these generative models and conventional predictive models. Our analysis reveals that each sampling step of a well-trained flow or diffusion bridge model optimized with a data prediction loss is theoretically analogous to executing predictive speech enhancement. Motivated by this insight, we introduce an enhanced bridge model that integrates an effective probability path design with key elements from predictive paradigms, including improved network architecture, tailored loss functions, and optimized training strategies. Experiments on denoising and dereverberation tasks demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing flow and diffusion baselines with fewer parameters and reduced computational complexity. The results also highlight that the inherently predictive nature of this generative framework imposes limitations on its achievable upper-bound performance.

Adaptive Convolution for CNN-based Speech Enhancement Models

Deep learning-based speech enhancement methods have significantly improved speech quality and intelligibility. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been proven to be essential components of many high-performance models. In this paper, we introduce adaptive convolution, an efficient and versatile convolutional module that enhances the model's capability to adaptively represent speech signals. Adaptive convolution performs frame-wise causal dynamic convolution, generating time-varying kernels for each frame by assembling multiple parallel candidate kernels. A lightweight attention mechanism is proposed for adaptive convolution, leveraging both current and historical information to assign adaptive weights to each candidate kernel. This enables the convolution operation to adapt to frame-level speech spectral features, leading to more efficient extraction and reconstruction. We integrate adaptive convolution into various CNN-based models, highlighting its generalizability. Experimental results demonstrate that adaptive convolution significantly improves the performance with negligible increases in computational complexity, especially for lightweight models. Moreover, we present an intuitive analysis revealing a strong correlation between kernel selection and signal characteristics. Furthermore, we propose the adaptive convolutional recurrent network (AdaptCRN), an ultra-lightweight model that incorporates adaptive convolution and an efficient encoder-decoder design, achieving superior performance compared to models with similar or even higher computational costs.

Simultaneous Interpretation (SI) represents one of the most daunting frontiers in the translation industry, with product-level automatic systems long plagued by intractable challenges: subpar transcription and translation quality, lack of real-time speech generation, multi-speaker confusion, and translated speech inflation, especially in long-form discourses. In this study, we introduce Seed-LiveInterpret 2.0, an end-to-end SI model that delivers high-fidelity, ultra-low-latency speech-to-speech generation with voice cloning capabilities. As a fully operational product-level solution, Seed-LiveInterpret 2.0 tackles these challenges head-on through our novel duplex speech-to-speech understanding-generating framework. Experimental results demonstrate that through large-scale pretraining and reinforcement learning, the model achieves a significantly better balance between translation accuracy and latency, validated by human interpreters to exceed 70% correctness in complex scenarios. Notably, Seed-LiveInterpret 2.0 outperforms commercial SI solutions by significant margins in translation quality, while slashing the average latency of cloned speech from nearly 10 seconds to a near-real-time 3 seconds, which is around a near 70% reduction that drastically enhances practical usability.

TS-URGENet: A Three-stage Universal Robust and Generalizable Speech Enhancement Network

Universal speech enhancement aims to handle input speech with different distortions and input formats. To tackle this challenge, we present TS-URGENet, a Three-Stage Universal, Robust, and Generalizable speech Enhancement Network. To address various distortions, the proposed system employs a novel three-stage architecture consisting of a filling stage, a separation stage, and a restoration stage. The filling stage mitigates packet loss by preliminarily filling lost regions under noise interference, ensuring signal continuity. The separation stage suppresses noise, reverberation, and clipping distortion to improve speech clarity. Finally, the restoration stage compensates for bandwidth limitation, codec artifacts, and residual packet loss distortion, refining the overall speech quality. Our proposed TS-URGENet achieved outstanding performance in the Interspeech 2025 URGENT Challenge, ranking 2nd in Track 1.

Multi-threaded Simulation Software for the JUNO Experiment

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a multi-purpose experiment under construction in southern China. JUNO aims to determine the neutrino mass ordering and precisely measure the neutrino oscillation parameters by detecting reactor neutrinos from nuclear power plants. In addition to reactor neutrinos, JUNO can study atmospheric neutrinos, solar neutrinos, geo-neutrinos, supernova burst neutrinos, the Diffuse Supernova Neutrino Background (DSNB), and nucleon decay, covering an energy range from keV to TeV. JUNO consists of a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector, equipped with 17,612 20-inch PMTs and 25,600 3-inch PMTs, achieving a 3\% energy resolution (at 1~MeV). Precise simulation plays a crucial role in the experiment. Developed using the SNiPER framework and Geant4 toolkit, the JUNO simulation software is a key component of the JUNO offline software (JUNOSW). The large detector size and the broad energy range of interest pose challenges for detector simulation in terms of CPU time and memory consumption. As the computing nodes shift to include multiple integrated CPU cores, traditional single-threaded computing model can lead to large memory footprints and inefficient use of system resources. Multi-threading on many-core architectures can significantly improve resource utilization. This paper introduces the design and implementation of multi-threaded simulation software for the JUNO experiment.

UL-UNAS: Ultra-Lightweight U-Nets for Real-Time Speech Enhancement via Network Architecture Search

Lightweight models are essential for real-time speech enhancement applications. In recent years, there has been a growing trend toward developing increasingly compact models for speech enhancement. In this paper, we propose an Ultra-Lightweight U-net optimized by Network Architecture Search (UL-UNAS), which is suitable for implementation in low-footprint devices. Firstly, we explore the application of various efficient convolutional blocks within the U-Net framework to identify the most promising candidates. Secondly, we introduce two boosting components to enhance the capacity of these convolutional blocks: a novel activation function named affine PReLU and a causal time-frequency attention module. Furthermore, we leverage neural architecture search to discover an optimal architecture within our carefully designed search space. By integrating the above strategies, UL-UNAS not only significantly outperforms the latest ultra-lightweight models with the same or lower computational complexity, but also delivers competitive performance compared to recent baseline models that require substantially higher computational resources. Adversarial Neural Networks in Medical Imaging Advancements and Challenges in Semantic Segmentation

Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have precipitated a paradigm shift in medical imaging, particularly revolutionizing the domain of brain imaging. This paper systematically investigates the integration of deep learning -- a principal branch of AI -- into the semantic segmentation of brain images. Semantic segmentation serves as an indispensable technique for the delineation of discrete anatomical structures and the identification of pathological markers, essential for the diagnosis of complex neurological disorders. Historically, the reliance on manual interpretation by radiologists, while noteworthy for its accuracy, is plagued by inherent subjectivity and inter-observer variability. This limitation becomes more pronounced with the exponential increase in imaging data, which traditional methods struggle to process efficiently and effectively. In response to these challenges, this study introduces the application of adversarial neural networks, a novel AI approach that not only automates but also refines the semantic segmentation process. By leveraging these advanced neural networks, our approach enhances the precision of diagnostic outputs, reducing human error and increasing the throughput of imaging data analysis. The paper provides a detailed discussion on how adversarial neural networks facilitate a more robust, objective, and scalable solution, thereby significantly improving diagnostic accuracies in neurological evaluations. This exploration highlights the transformative impact of AI on medical imaging, setting a new benchmark for future research and clinical practice in neurology.

Optimizing YOLOv5s Object Detection through Knowledge Distillation algorithm

This paper explores the application of knowledge distillation technology in target detection tasks, especially the impact of different distillation temperatures on the performance of student models. By using YOLOv5l as the teacher network and a smaller YOLOv5s as the student network, we found that with the increase of distillation temperature, the student's detection accuracy gradually improved, and finally achieved mAP50 and mAP50-95 indicators that were better than the original YOLOv5s model at a specific temperature. Experimental results show that appropriate knowledge distillation strategies can not only improve the accuracy of the model but also help improve the reliability and stability of the model in practical applications. This paper also records in detail the accuracy curve and loss function descent curve during the model training process and shows that the model converges to a stable state after 150 training cycles. These findings provide a theoretical basis and technical reference for further optimizing target detection algorithms.

Seed-ASR: Understanding Diverse Speech and Contexts with LLM-based Speech Recognition

Modern automatic speech recognition (ASR) model is required to accurately transcribe diverse speech signals (from different domains, languages, accents, etc) given the specific contextual information in various application scenarios. Classic end-to-end models fused with extra language models perform well, but mainly in data matching scenarios and are gradually approaching a bottleneck. In this work, we introduce Seed-ASR, a large language model (LLM) based speech recognition model. Seed-ASR is developed based on the framework of audio conditioned LLM (AcLLM), leveraging the capabilities of LLMs by inputting continuous speech representations together with contextual information into the LLM. Through stage-wise large-scale training and the elicitation of context-aware capabilities in LLM, Seed-ASR demonstrates significant improvement over end-to-end models on comprehensive evaluation sets, including multiple domains, accents/dialects and languages. Additionally, Seed-ASR can be further deployed to support specific needs in various scenarios without requiring extra language models. Compared to recently released large ASR models, Seed-ASR achieves 10%-40% reduction in word (or character, for Chinese) error rates on Chinese and English public test sets, further demonstrating its powerful performance.

Exploration of Multi-Scale Image Fusion Systems in Intelligent Medical Image Analysis

The diagnosis of brain cancer relies heavily on medical imaging techniques, with MRI being the most commonly used. It is necessary to perform automatic segmentation of brain tumors on MRI images. This project intends to build an MRI algorithm based on U-Net. The residual network and the module used to enhance the context information are combined, and the void space convolution pooling pyramid is added to the network for processing. The brain glioma MRI image dataset provided by cancer imaging archives was experimentally verified. A multi-scale segmentation method based on a weighted least squares filter was used to complete the 3D reconstruction of brain tumors. Thus, the accuracy of three-dimensional reconstruction is further improved. Experiments show that the local texture features obtained by the proposed algorithm are similar to those obtained by laser scanning. The algorithm is improved by using the U-Net method and an accuracy of 0.9851 is obtained. This approach significantly enhances the precision of image segmentation and boosts the efficiency of image classification.

First attempt of directionality reconstruction for atmospheric neutrinos in a large homogeneous liquid scintillator detector

The directionality information of incoming neutrinos is essential to atmospheric neutrino oscillation analysis since it is directly related to the oscillation baseline length. Large homogeneous liquid scintillator detectors, while offering excellent energy resolution, are traditionally very limited in their capabilities of measuring event directionality. In this paper, we present a novel directionality reconstruction method for atmospheric neutrino events in large homogeneous liquid scintillator detectors based on waveform analysis and machine learning techniques. We demonstrate for the first time that such detectors can achieve good direction resolution and potentially play an important role in future atmospheric neutrino oscillation measurements.

Semi-blind source separation using convolutive transfer function for nonlinear acoustic echo cancellation

The recently proposed semi-blind source separation (SBSS) method for nonlinear acoustic echo cancellation (NAEC) outperforms adaptive NAEC in attenuating the nonlinear acoustic echo. However, the multiplicative transfer function (MTF) approximation makes it unsuitable for real-time applications especially in highly reverberant environments, and the natural gradient makes it hard to balance well between fast convergence speed and stability. In this paper, we propose two more effective SBSS methods based on auxiliary-function-based independent vector analysis (AuxIVA) and independent low-rank matrix analysis (ILRMA). The convolutive transfer function (CTF) approximation is used instead of MTF so that a long impulse response can be modeled with a short latency. The optimization schemes used in AuxIVA and ILRMA are carefully regularized according to the constrained demixing matrix of NAEC. Experimental results validate significantly better echo cancellation performance of the proposed methods.
