A Multidimensional Data-Driven Hybrid Transformer Framework for Non-invasive Continuous Blood Pressure Prediction

Objective. To develop and evaluate a cuffless continuous blood pressure (BP) estimator using temporal physiological and demographic features. We propose a hybrid Transformer framework to estimate diastolic and systolic BP from ECG/PPG-derived feature sequences. Approach. Rather than raw waveforms, the framework models 10-step sequences of six physiological descriptors and two demographic covariates. A Multi-Source Temporal Encoder Module combines Transformer, Kolmogorov-Arnold Network, and XGBoost branches to capture complementary temporal, nonlinear, and tabular information. A Dynamic Conditional Fusion-Decoder applies differential multi-head attention, token-weighted aggregation, and gated residual correction. A robust composite objective jointly optimizes DBP and SBP. Main results. Using the MIMIC-III Waveform and Clinical Databases, the source pool comprised 28,486 waveform segments from 203 subjects, and feature generation retained 53,621 observations from 166 subjects. On 2,431 segment-level held-out test windows, mean error +/- standard deviation was 0.41 +/- 3.74 mmHg for diastolic BP and -1.60 +/- 5.95 mmHg for systolic BP, with 95% limits of agreement of [-6.93, 7.74] and [-13.25, 10.06] mmHg, respectively. The proportions within 10 mmHg were 98.48% and 94.36%. The framework achieved the lowest standard deviations and narrowest limits of agreement among the locally retrained baselines. Significance. The feature-sequence fusion framework improved agreement with reference BP and fell within numerical AAMI and BHS Grade A thresholds on this split. This retrospective analysis is not formal device validation; subject-disjoint and external evaluation remain necessary before clinical use.

Realization of quintom dark energy after DESI DR2 in Nieh-Yan modified teleparallel gravity

Recent observations from the DESI Collaboration indicate a preference for quintom dark energy, i.e., its equation of state evolves across the cosmological constant boundary $w=-1$. It is well known that models with single perfect fluid or single scalar field minimally coupled to Einstein gravity develop perturbative instabilities around the crossing, thereby cannot realize the quintom scenario. In this paper, we propose a method to circumvent the instability problem of these models by considering the coupling of dark energy to the Nieh-Yan density within the framework of teleparallel gravity. We show that with this coupling the background evolution is not affected, but the dark energy perturbation is removed from the menu of dynamical degrees of freedom, thus avoiding the inherent difficulties in the old models. Furthermore, the Nieh-Yan coupling causes parity violation in gravitational waves, and this can be considered as a clear prediction of this mechanism.

Cosmological Perturbations of Extended NGR Model with Parity Violation

Recently the modified teleparallel gravity models attracted a lot of interests. In this paper we consider more extensions to the New General Relativity (NGR) model with parity violations. This extended NGR model differs from the normal NGR model by the inclusion of additional parity-odd term that is quadratic in the torsion tensor. By investigating its cosmological perturbations of this model, we find that this model can avoid ghost instabilities in certain regions of the parameter space, where the coefficient of the parity-odd term does not vanish.

Spacetime perturbations and quasi-teleparallel gravity

Gravity is identical to curved spacetime. It is manifested by the curvature of a Riemannian spacetime in general relativity but by torsion or non-metricity in teleparallel gravity models. In this paper, we apply these multiple options to the spacetime perturbation theory and seek the possibilities of representing the gravitation of the background and that of the perturbation in separate ways. We show that the perturbation around a Riemannian background can be described by torsion or non-metricity, so that we have teleparallel like actions for the perturbation.
