On the Limits of Machine-Learned Ranking for Modern Microarchitectural Policies

Machine-learning predictors estimate processor performance far faster than cycle-level simulation. For design-space exploration, however, the valuable test is not merely reproducing the usual hardware ordering, but identifying how different hardware configurations rank on individual program phases. We evaluate four ML-predictors in two design regimes: \emph{Structural Parameters} (SP), varying hardware resources such as issue width, ROB size, and cache capacity; and \emph{Behavioral Policies} (BP), varying prefetching and replacement algorithms. In the SP regime, aggregate ranking is strong, yet counter-intuitive windows(CIW)---where the configuration expected to be slower is faster---constitute $22.4\%$ of non-tied windows across five pairs with a clear architectural prior. CIW match across these pairs is only $23.3$--$39.9\%$; every point estimate is below the $50\%$ random strict-ordering reference. The BP regime presents a different failure: ground-truth ties cover $37.8\%$ of pair-windows, most strict pairs have margins of only a few cycles, and no model family reliably beats a feature-free majority baseline. NeuroScalar and SimNet fall below that baseline, Concorde is statistically tied with it, and the best selected OneDSE head improves by only $2.1$ percentage points. Accuracy rises mainly at large margins. We further show that this failure is not a matter of model capacity: an information-theoretic analysis reveals that when ranking outcomes depend on hidden microarchitectural state absent from the instruction stream, no trace-based predictor can exceed the Bayes accuracy determined by observable inputs alone. Thus high cycle or aggregate ranking accuracy can reflect mastery of easy, high-margin cases while missing the local reversals that carry the most architectural insight and for which cycle-level simulation remains indispensable.

World Narrative Model for Highly Controllable Video Generation: A Paradigm Shift from Pixel Sampling to Physical World Orchestration

The fundamental obstacle to industrial grade video generation is the lack of controllability: existing models treat video as a pixel distribution sampling problem, bypassing the explicit, instance level $4D$ $(3D + T)$ physical world. Consequently, content creators cannot specify geometry, motion, camera parameters, or lighting in a deterministic, quantitative way, leading to the infamous ''gacha'' loop that makes professional content creation prohibitively inefficient and expensive. To address this, we introduce the World Narrative Model (WNM), a paradigm that decouples what to render -- the structured physical narrative -- from how to render -- the pixel generation process. WNM replaces end-to-end black-box sampling with orchestrated $4D$ pre-visualization for media generation. Collaborative agents translate sparse multimodal inputs, including text, reference videos, and sketches, into a fully editable world representation with scene geometry, object layouts, character/animal skeleton motion, trajectories, camera motion, and lighting at quantitative, physically meaningful granularity. This representation acts as a deterministic structural blueprint that drives existing video foundation models, either frozen or lightly adapted, to render final footage, turning the base model into a faithful neural shader. Built on this engine, our human-AI platform supports automatic world generation and pre-visualization aligned with professional filmmaking pipelines, while director consoles enable seamless human refinement. Experiments show that WNM greatly reduces probabilistic ``gacha'' calls and produces videos whose layout, motion, and cinematography closely follow creator intent. The framework is open and modular, allowing each component, such as world representation, control agents, and adapters, to be independently improved. A unified resource-pool architecture for high-dimensional direct-detection optical communication

Increasing optical communication capacity without proportionally increasing receiver complexity remains a key challenge for direct-detection links. Conventional systems typically assign wavelength, polarization and intensity to fixed, separately recovered functions, so that alphabet expansion is accompanied by additional demultiplexing, polarization handling, receiver branches and electronic processing. Here we introduce a unified resource-pool architecture for high-dimensional direct-detection optical communication, in which wavelength, polarization and intensity are jointly organized as a composite optical symbol space and recovered through optical-domain joint projection rather than dimension-by-dimension separation. The receiver is implemented with an integrated disordered photonic processor that transforms each composite optical state into a reproducible multi-output electrical fingerprint for single-shot direct recovery. In a dual-wavelength transmission experiment, the system resolves 4096 composite symbols, corresponding to 12 bits per symbol slot, with a bit error rate of 4.25e-4 after 10 km standard-fiber transmission. Additional experiments demonstrate dense polarization alphabets, wavelength-indexed state-space expansion and high-launch-power operation over hollow-core fiber. These results establish disorder-enabled joint projection in an integrated photonic processor as a route to hardware-efficient high-dimensional direct-detection communication beyond conventional dimension-partitioned receiver architecture.

High-Speed Multi-Dimensional Optical Field Measurement via MMF-MCF Spatial-Temporal Mapping Architecture

Wavelength and state of polarization constitute fundamental dimensions of optical fields. While simultaneous quantification of these parameters is critical, existing methodologies often lack the speed required for real-time analysis. Here, we present a compact high-dimensional optical field analyzer employing a discrete spatiotemporal sampling architecture based on multimode and multicore fibers. An optical delay line array maps spatial speckle patterns into serial pulse sequences and facilitates efficient single-pixel detection. Leveraging a residual multilayer perceptron network, the system attains a wavelength mean absolute error of 0.25 pm and a polarization resolution of 0.2015 (in normalized Stokes space). Analysis of the spatial sampling density reveals that 5-6 sampling points are required to balance measurement rate and accuracy. Notably, the system exhibits isotropic fault tolerance against single-core failures. This confirms that optical field information is redundantly encoded across the entire fiber cross-section rather than localized in specific channels. This framework provides a solution for multiparameter decoupling under severe spatial downsampling and useful insights for the design of next generation high-speed and robust all-fiber analysis systems.

Enhancing Tabular Anomaly Detection via Pseudo-Label-Guided Generation

Identifying anomalous instances in tabular data is essential for improving data reliability and maintaining system stability. Due to the scarcity of ground-truth anomaly labels, existing methods mainly rely on unsupervised anomaly detection models, or exploit a small number of labeled anomalies to facilitate detection via sample generation or contrastive learning. However, unsupervised methods lack sufficient anomaly awareness, while current generation and contrastive approaches tend to compute anomalies globally, overlooking the localized anomaly patterns of tabular features, resulting in suboptimal detection performance. To address these limitations, we propose PLAG, a pseudo-label-guided anomaly generation method designed to enhance tabular anomaly detection. Specifically, by utilizing pseudo-anomalies as guidance signals and decoupling the overall anomaly quantification of a sample into an accumulation of feature-level abnormalities, PLAG not only effectively obviates the need for scarce ground-truth labels but also provides a novel perspective for the model to comprehend localized anomalous signals at a fine-grained level. Furthermore, a two-stage data selection strategy is proposed, integrating format verification and uncertainty estimation to rigorously filter candidate samples, thereby ensuring the fidelity and diversity of the synthetic anomalies. Ultimately, these filtered synthetic anomalies serve as robust discriminative guidance, empowering the model to better separate normal and anomalous instances. Extensive experiments demonstrate that PLAG achieves state-of-the-art performance against eight representative baselines. Moreover, as a flexible framework, it integrates seamlessly with existing unsupervised detectors, consistently boosting F1-scores by 0.08 to 0.21.

PASTE: Physics-Aware Scattering Topology Embedding Framework for SAR Object Detection

Current deep learning-based object detection for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery mainly adopts optical image methods, treating targets as texture patches while ignoring inherent electromagnetic scattering mechanisms. Though scattering points have been studied to boost detection performance, most methods still rely on amplitude-based statistical models. Some approaches introduce frequency-domain information for scattering center extraction, but they suffer from high computation cost and poor compatibility with diverse datasets. Thus, effectively embedding scattering topological information into modern detection frameworks remains challenging. To solve these problems, this paper proposes the Physics-Aware Scattering Topology Embedding Framework (PASTE), a novel closed-loop architecture for comprehensive scattering prior integration. By building the full pipeline from topology generation, injection to joint supervision, PASTE elegantly integrates scattering physics into modern SAR detectors. Specifically, it designs a scattering keypoint generation and automatic annotation scheme based on the Attributed Scattering Center (ASC) model to produce scalable and physically consistent priors. A scattering topology injection module guides multi-scale feature learning, and a scattering prior supervision strategy constrains network optimization by aligning predictions with scattering center distributions. Experiments on real datasets show that PASTE is compatible with various detectors and brings relative mAP gains of 2.9% to 11.3% over baselines with acceptable computation overhead. Visualization of scattering maps verifies that PASTE successfully embeds scattering topological priors into feature space, clearly distinguishing target and background scattering regions, thus providing strong interpretability for results.

CEI-3D: Collaborative Explicit-Implicit 3D Reconstruction for Realistic and Fine-Grained Object Editing

Existing 3D editing methods often produce unrealistic and unrefined results due to the deeply integrated nature of their reconstruction networks. To address the challenge, this paper introduces CEI-3D, an editing-oriented reconstruction pipeline designed to facilitate realistic and fine-grained editing. Specifically, we propose a collaborative explicit-implicit reconstruction approach, which represents the target object using an implicit SDF network and a differentially sampled, locally controllable set of handler points. The implicit network provides a smooth and continuous geometry prior, while the explicit handler points offer localized control, enabling mutual guidance between the global 3D structure and user-specified local editing regions. To independently control each attribute of the handler points, we design a physical properties disentangling module to decouple the color of the handler points into separate physical properties. We also propose a dual-diffuse-albedo network in this module to process the edited and non-edited regions through separate branches, thereby preventing undesired interference from editing operations. Building on the reconstructed collaborative explicit-implicit representation with disentangled properties, we introduce a spatial-aware editing module that enables part-wise adjustment of relevant handler points. This module employs a cross-view propagation-based 3D segmentation strategy, which helps users to edit the specified physical attributes of a target part efficiently. Extensive experiments on both real and synthetic datasets demonstrate that our approach achieves more realistic and fine-grained editing results than the state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods while requiring less editing time. Quantum discord of mixed states under noisy channels in the curved spacetime

We focus our attention on two-qubit mixed states as initial states, and apply the geometric measure of quantum discord to investigate quantum discord properties in the background of a Schwarzschild black hole under phase damping, phase flip and bit flip channels, respectively. Several analytical complementary relationships based on quantum discords for bipartite subsystems are proposed. For the three channel noises, the behaviors of discords are similar, the accessible discords always degrade as the Hawking acceleration rising, but sudden death never occurs, while the inaccessible discords increase from zero monotonically. Interestingly, in the case of the bit flip channel and phase flip channel, the discords perform symmetrically with the decay probability rising.

Hierarchical AI Multi-Agent Fundamental Investing: Evidence from China's A-Share Market

We present a multi-agent, AI-driven framework for fundamental investing that integrates macro indicators, industry-level and firm-specific information to construct optimized equity portfolios. The architecture comprises: (i) a Macro agent that dynamically screens and weights sectors based on evolving economic indicators and industry performance; (ii) four firm-level agents -- Fundamental, Technical, Report, and News -- that conduct in-depth analyses of individual firms to ensure both breadth and depth of coverage; (iii) a Portfolio agent that uses reinforcement learning to combine the agent outputs into a unified policy to generate the trading strategy; and (iv) a Risk Control agent that adjusts portfolio positions in response to market volatility. We evaluate the system on the constituents by the CSI 300 Index of China's A-share market and find that it consistently outperforms standard benchmarks and a state-of-the-art multi-agent trading system on risk-adjusted returns and drawdown control. Our core contribution is a hierarchical multi-agent design that links top-down macro screening with bottom-up fundamental analysis, offering a robust and extensible approach to factor-based portfolio construction.

Robust and Hyper-Efficient Multi-dimensional Optical Fiber Semantic Communication

The growing demands of artificial intelligence and immersive media require communication beyond bit-level accuracy to meaning awareness. Conventional optical systems that focused on syntactic precision suffer significant inefficiencies. Here, we introduce a multi-dimensional semantic communication framework that bridges this gap by directly mapping high-level semantic features onto the orthogonal physical dimensions of light, frequency, polarization, and intensity, within a multimode fiber. This synergistic co-design of semantic logic and the photonic channel achieve an unprecedented equivalent spectral efficiency approaching 1000 bit/s/Hz. Moreover, it demonstrates profound resilience, maintaining high-fidelity reconstruction even when the physical-layer symbol error rate exceeds 36%, a condition under which conventional communication systems fail completely. Crucially, this deeply integrated co-design of semantic encoding and physical-layer modulation enables full semantic demodulation with only single-ended intensity detection, therefore significantly reducing system complexity and cost. This work establishes a validated pathway toward hyper-efficient, error-resilient optical networks for the next generation of data-intensive computing.

HPR3D: Hierarchical Proxy Representation for High-Fidelity 3D Reconstruction and Controllable Editing

Current 3D representations like meshes, voxels, point clouds, and NeRF-based neural implicit fields exhibit significant limitations: they are often task-specific, lacking universal applicability across reconstruction, generation, editing, and driving. While meshes offer high precision, their dense vertex data complicates editing; NeRFs deliver excellent rendering but suffer from structural ambiguity, hindering animation and manipulation; all representations inherently struggle with the trade-off between data complexity and fidelity. To overcome these issues, we introduce a novel 3D Hierarchical Proxy Node representation. Its core innovation lies in representing an object's shape and texture via a sparse set of hierarchically organized (tree-structured) proxy nodes distributed on its surface and interior. Each node stores local shape and texture information (implicitly encoded by a small MLP) within its neighborhood. Querying any 3D coordinate's properties involves efficient neural interpolation and lightweight decoding from relevant nearby and parent nodes. This framework yields a highly compact representation where nodes align with local semantics, enabling direct drag-and-edit manipulation, and offers scalable quality-complexity control. Extensive experiments across 3D reconstruction and editing demonstrate our method's expressive efficiency, high-fidelity rendering quality, and superior editability.

LiftFeat: 3D Geometry-Aware Local Feature Matching

Robust and efficient local feature matching plays a crucial role in applications such as SLAM and visual localization for robotics. Despite great progress, it is still very challenging to extract robust and discriminative visual features in scenarios with drastic lighting changes, low texture areas, or repetitive patterns. In this paper, we propose a new lightweight network called \textit{LiftFeat}, which lifts the robustness of raw descriptor by aggregating 3D geometric feature. Specifically, we first adopt a pre-trained monocular depth estimation model to generate pseudo surface normal label, supervising the extraction of 3D geometric feature in terms of predicted surface normal. We then design a 3D geometry-aware feature lifting module to fuse surface normal feature with raw 2D descriptor feature. Integrating such 3D geometric feature enhances the discriminative ability of 2D feature description in extreme conditions. Extensive experimental results on relative pose estimation, homography estimation, and visual localization tasks, demonstrate that our LiftFeat outperforms some lightweight state-of-the-art methods. Code will be released at : https://github.com/lyp-deeplearning/LiftFeat.

LLM Sensitivity Evaluation Framework for Clinical Diagnosis

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated impressive performance across various domains. However, for clinical diagnosis, higher expectations are required for LLM's reliability and sensitivity: thinking like physicians and remaining sensitive to key medical information that affects diagnostic reasoning, as subtle variations can lead to different diagnosis results. Yet, existing works focus mainly on investigating the sensitivity of LLMs to irrelevant context and overlook the importance of key information. In this paper, we investigate the sensitivity of LLMs, i.e. GPT-3.5, GPT-4, Gemini, Claude3 and LLaMA2-7b, to key medical information by introducing different perturbation strategies. The evaluation results highlight the limitations of current LLMs in remaining sensitive to key medical information for diagnostic decision-making. The evolution of LLMs must focus on improving their reliability, enhancing their ability to be sensitive to key information, and effectively utilizing this information. These improvements will enhance human trust in LLMs and facilitate their practical application in real-world scenarios. Multimode fiber based high-dimensional light analyzer

The wavelength and state of polarization (SOP) are fundamental properties of an optical field which are essential for applications in optical communications, imaging and other fields. However, it is challenging for existing spectrometers and polarimeters to measure these parameters simultaneously, resulting in reduced spatial and temporal efficiency. To overcome this limitation, we propose and demonstrate a compact multimode fiber (MMF)-based high-dimensional light analyzer capable of simultaneously performing high-precision measurements of both wavelength and SOP. Core-offset launching is introduced in the MMF to reshuffle the mode coupling. A neural network named WP-Net has been designed dedicated to wavelength and SOP synchronization measurements. Physics-informed loss function based on optical prior knowledge is used to optimize the learning process. These advancements have enhanced the sensitivity, achieving a wavelength resolution of 0.045 pm and an SOP resolution of 0.0088.

DualNeRF: Text-Driven 3D Scene Editing via Dual-Field Representation

Recently, denoising diffusion models have achieved promising results in 2D image generation and editing. Instruct-NeRF2NeRF (IN2N) introduces the success of diffusion into 3D scene editing through an "Iterative dataset update" (IDU) strategy. Though achieving fascinating results, IN2N suffers from problems of blurry backgrounds and trapping in local optima. The first problem is caused by IN2N's lack of efficient guidance for background maintenance, while the second stems from the interaction between image editing and NeRF training during IDU. In this work, we introduce DualNeRF to deal with these problems. We propose a dual-field representation to preserve features of the original scene and utilize them as additional guidance to the model for background maintenance during IDU. Moreover, a simulated annealing strategy is embedded into IDU to endow our model with the power of addressing local optima issues. A CLIP-based consistency indicator is used to further improve the editing quality by filtering out low-quality edits. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms previous methods both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Multimode fiber speckle Stokes polarimeter

The detection of the state of polarization (SOP) of light is essential for many optical applications. However, it is a challenge for cost-effective SOP measurement due to the complexity of conventional methods and poor transferability of new methods. Here, we propose a straightforward, low-cost and portable SOP measurement system based on the multimode fiber speckle. Convolutional neural network is utilized to establish the mapping relationship between speckle and Stokes parameters. The lowest root mean square error of the estimated SOP on Poincare sphere can be 0.0042. This method is distinguished by its low cost, clear structure and applicability to different wavelengths with high precision. The proposed method is of great value in polarization-related applications.

USR: Unsupervised Separated 3D Garment and Human Reconstruction via Geometry and Semantic Consistency

Dressed people reconstruction from images is a popular task with promising applications in the creative media and game industry. However, most existing methods reconstruct the human body and garments as a whole with the supervision of 3D models, which hinders the downstream interaction tasks and requires hard-to-obtain data. To address these issues, we propose an unsupervised separated 3D garments and human reconstruction model (USR), which reconstructs the human body and authentic textured clothes in layers without 3D models. More specifically, our method proposes a generalized surface-aware neural radiance field to learn the mapping between sparse multi-view images and geometries of the dressed people. Based on the full geometry, we introduce a Semantic and Confidence Guided Separation strategy (SCGS) to detect, segment, and reconstruct the clothes layer, leveraging the consistency between 2D semantic and 3D geometry. Moreover, we propose a Geometry Fine-tune Module to smooth edges. Extensive experiments on our dataset show that comparing with state-of-the-art methods, USR achieves improvements on both geometry and appearance reconstruction while supporting generalizing to unseen people in real time. Besides, we also introduce SMPL-D model to show the benefit of the separated modeling of clothes and the human body that allows swapping clothes and virtual try-on.

WebSRC: A Dataset for Web-Based Structural Reading Comprehension

Web search is an essential way for humans to obtain information, but it's still a great challenge for machines to understand the contents of web pages. In this paper, we introduce the task of structural reading comprehension (SRC) on web. Given a web page and a question about it, the task is to find the answer from the web page. This task requires a system not only to understand the semantics of texts but also the structure of the web page. Moreover, we proposed WebSRC, a novel Web-based Structural Reading Comprehension dataset. WebSRC consists of 400K question-answer pairs, which are collected from 6.4K web pages. Along with the QA pairs, corresponding HTML source code, screenshots, and metadata are also provided in our dataset. Each question in WebSRC requires a certain structural understanding of a web page to answer, and the answer is either a text span on the web page or yes/no. We evaluate various baselines on our dataset to show the difficulty of our task. We also investigate the usefulness of structural information and visual features. Our dataset and baselines have been publicly available at https://x-lance.github.io/WebSRC/.
