Measurement of Branching Fractions of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays to $Σ^{+}$ and $\overlineΣ^-$

Using $1310.6\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ and $448.1\times10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the branching fractions of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays to $Σ^{+}\overlineΣ^{-}$ are measured to be $(10.61 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.36) \times 10^{-4}$ and $(2.52 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.09) \times 10^{-4}$, respectively. In addition, the ratio of $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686) \rightarrow Σ^{+}\overlineΣ^{-})/\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrow Σ^{+}\overlineΣ^{-})$ is determined to be $(23.8 \pm 1.1)\%$ which violates the "$12\%$ rule".

Amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of the decay $D_{s}^{+} \to π^{+}π^{0}π^{0}$

Using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.32~$\rm fb^{-1}$ recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226~GeV, an amplitude analysis of the decay $D_{s}^{+} \to π^{+}π^{0}π^{0}$ is performed, and the relative fractions and phases of different intermediate processes are determined. The absolute branching fraction of the decay $D_{s}^{+} \to π^{+}π^{0}π^{0}$ is measured to be $(0.50\pm 0.04_{\text{stat}}\pm 0.02_{\text{syst}})\%$. The absolute branching fraction of the intermediate process $D_{s}^{+} \to f_0(980)π^{+}, f_0(980)\toπ^{0}π^{0}$ is determined to be $(0.21\pm 0.03_{\text{stat}}\pm 0.03_{\text{syst}})\%$.

Search for the hyperon semileptonic decay $Ξ^{-} \rightarrow Ξ^{0} e^{-} \bar{ν_{e}}$

Using $(10.087\pm0.044)\times10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hyperon semileptonic decay $Ξ^{-} \rightarrow Ξ^{0} e^{-} \barν_{e}$. No significant signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal B(Ξ^{-} \rightarrow Ξ^{0} e^{-} \barν_{e})$ is set to be $2.59\times10^{-4}$ at 90 % confidence level. This result is one order of magnitude more strict than the previous best limit.

Observation of $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^{0}\barΞ(1530)^{0}$ and $Ξ(1530)^{0}\barΞ^0$

Using $(448.1\pm2.9)\times 10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector and a single-baryon tagging technique, we present the first observation of the decays $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^{0}\barΞ(1530)^{0}$ and $Ξ(1530)^{0}\barΞ^0$. The branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal{B}}(ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^{0}\barΞ(1530)^{0}) = (6.77\pm0.14\pm0.39)\times10^{-5}$ and ${\cal{B}}(ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^{0}\barΞ^{0}) = (0.53\pm0.04\pm0.03)\times10^{-5}$. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In addition, the parameter associated with the angular distribution for the decay $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^{0}\barΞ(1530)^0$ is determined to be $α= 0.32\pm0.19\pm0.07$, in agreement with theoretical predictions within one standard deviation.

Two-dimensional Dirac Semimetals without Inversion Symmetry

Realizing stable two-dimensional (2D) Dirac points against spin-orbit coupling (SOC) has attracted much attention because it provides a platform to study the unique transport properties. In previous work, Young and Kane [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{115}, 126803 (2015)] proposed stable 2D Dirac points with SOC, in which the Berry curvature and edge states vanish due to the coexistence of inversion and time-reversal symmetries. Herein, using the tight-binding model and k$\cdot$p effective Hamiltonian, we present that 2D Dirac points can survive in the presence of SOC without inversion symmetry. Such 2D Dirac semimetals possess nonzero Berry curvature near the crossing nodes, and two edge states are terminated at one pair of Dirac points. In addition, according to symmetry arguments and high-throughput first-principles calculations, we identify a family of ideal 2D Dirac semimetals, which has nonzero Berry curvature in the vicinity of Dirac points and visible edge states, thus facilitating the experimental observations. Our work shows that 2D Dirac points can emerge without inversion symmetry, which not only enriches the classification of 2D topological semimetals but also provides a promising avenue to observe exotic transport phenomena beyond graphene, e.g., nonlinear Hall effect.

Symmetry-Protected Topological Triangular Weyl Complex

Weyl points are often believed to appear in pairs with opposite chirality. In this work, we show by first-principles calculations and symmetry analysis that single Weyl phonons with linear dispersion and double Weyl phonons with quadratic dispersion are simultaneously present between two specific phonon branches in realistic materials with trigonal or hexagonal lattices. These phonon Weyl points are guaranteed to locate at high-symmetry points due to the screw rotational symmetry, forming a unique triangular Weyl complex. In sharp contrast to conventional Weyl systems with surface arcs terminated at the projections of a pair of Weyl points with opposite chirality, the phonon surface arcs of the unconventional triangular Weyl complex connect the projections of one double Weyl point and two single Weyl points. Importantly, the phonon surface arcs originating from the triangular Weyl complex are extremely long and span the entire surface Brillouin-zone. Furthermore, there are only nontrivial phonon surface states across the iso-frequency surface, which facilitates their detection in experiments and further applications. Our work not only offers the promising triangular phonon Weyl complex but also provides guidance for exploring triangular Weyl bosons in both phononic and photonic systems.

Constraining the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C astrophysical S-factors with the $^{12}$C+$^{13}$C measurements at very low energies

We use an underground counting lab with an extremely low background to perform an activity measurement for the $^{12}$C+$^{13}$C system with energies down to $E\rm_{c.m.}$=2.323 MeV, at which the $^{12}$C($^{13}$C,$p$)$^{24}$Na cross section is found to be 0.22(7) nb. The $^{12}$C+$^{13}$C fusion cross section is derived with a statistical model calibrated using experimental data. Our new result of the $^{12}$C+$^{13}$C fusion cross section is the first decisive evidence in the carbon isotope systems which rules out the existence of the astrophysical S-factor maximum predicted by the phenomenological hindrance model, while confirming the rising trend of the S-factor towards lower energies predicted by other models, such as CC-M3Y+Rep, DC-TDHF, KNS, SPP and ESW. After normalizing the model predictions with our data, a more reliable upper limit is established for the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C fusion cross sections at stellar energies.

Symmetry-Protected Ideal Type-II Weyl Phonons in CdTe

Nontrivial low-energy excitations of crystalline solids have insightfully strengthened understanding of elementary particles in quantum field theory. Usually, topological quasiparticles are mainly focused on fermions in topological semimetals. In this work, we alternatively show by first-principles calculations and symmetry analysis that ideal type-II Weyl phonons are present in zinc-blende cadmium telluride (CdTe), a well-known II-VI semiconductor. Importantly, these type-II Weyl phonons originate from the inversion between the longitudinal acoustic and transverse optical branches. Symmetry guarantees the type-II Weyl points to lie along the high-symmetry lines at the boundaries of Brillouin zone even with breaking the inversion symmetry, exhibiting the robustness of protected phonon features. The nontrivial phonon surface states and surface arcs projected on the semi-finite (001) and (111) surfaces are investigated. The phonon surface arcs connecting the Weyl points with opposite chirality, guaranteed to be very long, are clearly visible. This work not only offers a promising candidate for studying type-II Weyl phonons, but also provides a route to realize symmetry-protected nontrivial phonons and related applications in realistic materials.

Ideal Intersecting Nodal Ring Phonons in a Body-Centered Cubic C$_{8}$

Carbon, a basic versatile element in our universe, exhibits rich varieties of allotropic phases, most of which possess promising nontrivial topological fermions. In this work, we identify a distinct topological phonon phase in a realistic carbon allotrope with a body-centered cubic structure, termed bcc-C$_{8}$. We show by symmetry arguments and effective model analysis that there are three intersecting phonon nodal rings perpendicular to each other in different planes. The intersecting phonon nodal rings are protected by time-reversal and inversion symmetries, which quantize the corresponding Berry phase into integer multiples of $π$. Unlike the electron systems, the phonon nodal rings in bcc-C$_{8}$ are guaranteed to remain gapless due to the lack of spin-orbital coupling. The nearly flat drumhead surface states projected on semi-infinite (001) and (110) surfaces of bcc-C$_{8}$ are clearly visible. Our findings not only discover promising nodal ring phonons in a carbon allotrope, but also provide emergent avenues for exploring topological phonons beyond fermionic electrons in carbon-allotropic structures with attractive features.

Ferromagnetic Type-II Weyl Semimetal in Pyrite Chromium Dioxide

Magnetic topological materials have recently drawn significant importance and interest, due to their topologically nontrivial electronic structure within spontaneous magnetic moments and band inversion. Based on first-principles calculations, we propose that chromium dioxide, in its ferromagnetic pyrite structure, can realize one pair of type-II Weyl points between the $N$th and $(N+1)$th bands, where $N$ is the total number of valence electrons per unit cell. Other Weyl points between the $(N-1)$th and $N$th bands also appear close to the Fermi level due to the complex topological electronic band structure. The symmetry analysis elucidates that the Weyl points arise from a triply-degenerate point splitting due to the mirror reflection symmetry broken in the presence of spin-orbital coupling, which is equivalent to an applied magnetic field along the direction of magnetization. The Weyl points located on the magnetic axis are protected by the three-fold rotational symmetry. The corresponding Fermi arcs projected on both (001) and (110) surfaces are calculated as well and observed clearly. This finding opens a wide range of possible experimental realizations of type-II Weyl fermions in a system with time-reversal breaking.

Topological Weyl and Node-Line Semimetals in Ferromagnetic Vanadium-Phosphorous-Oxide $β$-V$_2$OPO$_4$ Compound

We propose that the topological semimetal features can co-exist with ferromagnetic ground state in vanadium-phosphorous-oxide $β$-V$_2$OPO$_4$ compound from first-principles calculations. In this magnetic system with inversion symmetry, the direction of magnetization is able to manipulate the symmetric protected band structures from a node-line type to a Weyl one in the presence of spin-orbital-coupling. The node-line semimetal phase is protected by the mirror symmetry with the reflection-invariant plane perpendicular to magnetic order. Within mirror symmetry breaking due to the magnetization along other directions, the gapless node-line loop will degenerate to only one pair of Weyl points protected by the rotational symmetry along the magnetic axis, which are largely separated in momentum space. Such Weyl semimetal phase provides a nice candidate with the minimum number of Weyl points in a condensed matter system. The results of surface band calculations confirm the non-trivial topology of this proposed compound. This findings provide a realistic candidate for the investigation of topological semimetals with time-reversal symmetry breaking, particularly towards the realization of quantum anomalous Hall effect in Weyl semimetals.

Superconducting properties of Fe-based layered superconductor LaO$_{0.9}$F$_{0.1-δ}$FeAs

We have employed a new route to synthesize single phase F-doped LaOFeAs compound and confirmed the superconductivity above 20 K in this Fe-based system. We show that the new superconductor has a rather high upper critical field of about 54 T. A clear signature of superconducting gap opening below T$_c$ was observed in the far-infrared reflectance spectra, with 2$Δ/\textit{k}T_c\approx$3.5-4.2. Furthermore, we show that the new superconductor has electron-type conducting carrier with a rather low carrier density.

Optical study on doped polyaniline composite films

Localization driven by disorder has a strong influence on the conducting property of conducting polymer. A class of authors hold the opinion that disorder in the material is homogeneous and conducting polymer is disordered metal close to Anderson-Mott Metal-Insulator transition, while others treat the disorder as inhomogeneous and have the conclusion that conducting polymer is a composite of ordered metallic regions and disordered insulating regions. The morphology of conducting polymers is an important factor that have influence on the type and extent of disorder. Different protonic acids used as dopants and moisture have affection on polymer chain arrangement and interchain interactions. A PANI-CSA film, two PANI-CSA/PANI-DBSA composite films with different dopants ratio, and one of the composite films with different moisture content are studied. Absolute reflectivity measurements are performed on the films. Optical conductivity and the real part of dielectric function are calculated by Kramers-Kronig(KK) relations. $σ_1(ω)$ and $ε_1(ω)$ derivate from simple Drude model in low frequency range and tendencies of the three sample are different and non-monotonic. The Localization Modified Drude model(LMD) in the framework of Anderson-Mott theory can not give a good fit to the experimental data. By introducing a distribution of relaxation time into LMD, reasonable fits for all three samples are obtained. This result supports the inhomogeneous picture.

Obvious enhancement of the total reaction cross sections for $^{27,28}$P with $^{28}$Si target and the possible relavent mechanisms

The reaction cross sections of $^{27,28}$P and the corresponding isotones on Si target were measured at intermediate energies. The measured reaction cross sections of the N=12 and 13 isotones show an abrupt increase at $% Z=15$. The experimental results for the isotones with $Z\leq 14$ as well as $% ^{28}$P can be well described by the modified Glauber theory of the optical limit approach. The enhancement of the reaction cross section for $^{28}$P could be explained in the modified Glauber theory with an enlarged core. Theoretical analysis with the modified Glauber theory of the optical limit and few-body approaches underpredicted the experimental data of $^{27}$P. Our theoretical analysis shows that an enlarged core together with proton halo are probably the mechanism responsible for the enhancement of the cross sections for the reaction of $^{27}$P+$^{28}$Si.

Strong electron-Boson coupling effect in the infrared spectra of $Tl_2 Ba_2 Ca Cu_2 O_{8+δ}$

We report on a study of the in-plane infrared response of a \TBCCO film with $T_c$=108 K. The fingerprint evidence for a strong electron-Boson coupling has been observed. The raw reflectance below T$_c$ exhibits a knee structure at around 650 \cm and the ratio of the reflectances below and above T$_c$ displays a pronounced minimum at around 1000 \cm. In particular, the features appear at higher energy scale than other bilayer cuprates with T$_c$ around 90-95 K. The gap amplitude and the Boson mode energy were extracted from the analysis of the bosonic spectral function. In comparison with several other optimally doped high-Tc cuprates, we find that the gap size scales with T$_c$, but Boson mode energy has a tendency to decrease.

Infrared properties of $θ$-type ET charge-transfer salts: $θ$-ET$_2$CsZn(SCN)$_4$ vs $θ$-ET$_2$RbZn(SCN)$_4$

We performed polarized far-infrared reflectance measurements at different temperatures on $θ$-ET$_2$RbZn(SCN)$_4$ and $θ$-ET$_2$CsZn(SCN)$_4$, two typical charge-transfer salts in a series of isostructural $θ$-ET$_2$MM'(SCN)$_4$. The measurements revealed distinct differences in both electronic and vibronic spectra, which provides a clue towards understanding the different metal-insulator transitions of the two salts.

Infrared properties of W-doped charge-density-wave material K$_{0.3}$MoO$_3$

The optical conductivity spectra of quasi-one dimensional compounds K$_{0.3}$Mo$_{1-x}$W$_x$O$_3$ (x=0, 0.03 and 0.15) have been studied over broad frequencies. While the dc resistivity measurements indicate no sign of CDW transition in heavily W-doped blue bronze, the optical conductivity spectra still show a single particle gap at around 0.2 eV for \textbf{E} parallel to the chain direction. Such impurity effect challenges our understanding about the occurrence of the optical gap with the CDW transition.
