Neural Networks-Enabled Channel Reconstruction for Fluid Antenna Systems: A Data-Driven Approach

Fluid antenna systems (FASs) offer substantial spatial diversity by exploiting the electromagnetic port correlation within compact array spaces, thereby generating favorable small-scale fading conditions with beneficial channel gain envelope fluctuations. This unique capability opens new opportunities for a wide range of communication applications and emerging technologies. However, accurate channel state information (CSI) must be acquired before a fluid antenna can be effectively utilized. Although several efforts have been made toward channel reconstruction in FASs, a generally applicable solution to both model-based or model-free scenario with both high precision and efficient computational flow remains lacking. In this work, we propose a data-driven channel reconstruction approach enabled by neural networks. The proposed framework not only achieves significantly enhanced reconstruction accuracy but also requires substantially lower computational complexity compared with existing model-free methods. Numerical results further demonstrate the rapid convergence and robust reconstruction capability of the proposed scheme, outperforming current state-of-the-art techniques.

Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm for Maximum Likelihood Detection in Massive MIMO

In the massive multiple-input and multiple-output (Massive MIMO) systems, the maximum likelihood (ML) detection problem is NP-hard and becoming classically intricate with the number of the transmitting antennas and the symbols increasing. The quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA), a leading candidate algorithm running in the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices, can show quantum advantage for approximately solving combinatorial optimization problems. In this paper, we propose the QAOA based the maximum likelihood detection solver of binary symbols. In proposed scheme, we first conduct a universal and compact analytical expression for the expectation value of the 1-level QAOA. Second, a bayesian optimization based parameters initialization is presented, which can speedup the convergence of the QAOA to a lower local minimum and improve the probability of measuring the exact solution. Compared to the state-of-the-art QAOA based ML detection algorithm, our scheme have the more universal and compact expectation value expression of the 1-level QAOA, and requires few quantum resources and has the higher probability to obtain the exact solution.

AI Agent Access (A\^3) Network: An Embodied, Communication-Aware Multi-Agent Framework for 6G Coverage

The vision of 6G communication demands autonomous and resilient networking in environments without fixed infrastructure. Yet most multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) approaches focus on isolated stages - exploration, relay formation, or access - under static deployments and centralized control, limiting adaptability. We propose the AI Agent Access (A\^3) Network, a unified, embodied intelligence-driven framework that transforms multi-agent networking into a dynamic, decentralized, and end-to-end system. Unlike prior schemes, the A\^3 Network integrates exploration, target user access, and backhaul maintenance within a single learning process, while supporting on-demand agent addition during runtime. Its decentralized policies ensure that even a single agent can operate independently with limited observations, while coordinated agents achieve scalable, communication-optimized coverage. By embedding link-level communication metrics into actor-critic learning, the A\^3 Network couples topology formation with robust decision-making. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the A\^3 Network not only balances exploration and communication efficiency but also delivers system-level adaptability absent in existing MARL frameworks, offering a new paradigm for 6G multi-agent networks.

Low-Complexity CSI Acquisition Exploiting Geographical Diversity in Fluid Antenna System

The fluid antenna system (FAS) employs reconfigurable antennas for high spatial gains in compact spaces, enhancing physical layer flexibility. Channel state information (CSI) acquisition is vital for port selection and FAS optimization. Greedy algorithms rely on signal assumptions, and model-free methods face high complexity. A flexible, low-complexity solution is needed for massive connectivity in FAS. Based on expectation maximization-approximate message passing (EM-AMP) framework, efficient matrix computations and adaptive learning without prior model knowledge naturally suit CSI acquisition for FAS. We propose a EM-AMP variant exploiting FAS geographical priors, improving estimation precision, accelerating convergence, and reducing complexity in large-scale deployment. Simulations validate the efficacy of the proposed algorithm.

Joint Waveform Design for MIMO-OFDM DFRC Systems

Dual-functional radar-communication (DFRC) has attracted considerable attention. This paper considers the frequency-selective multipath fading environment and proposes DFRC waveform design schemes based on multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) techniques. In the proposed waveform design schemes, the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) of the radar system, the inter-stream interference (ISI) and the achievable rate of the communication system, are respectively considered as the performance metrics. In this paper, we focus on the performance trade-off between the radar system and the communication system, and the optimization problems are formulated. In the ISI minimization based waveform design scheme, the optimization problem is convex and can be easily solved. In the achievable rate maximization based waveform design scheme, we propose a water-filling (WF) and sequential quadratic programming (SQP) based algorithm to derive the covariance matrix and the precoding matrix. Simulation results validate the proposed DFRC waveform designs and show that the achievable rate maximization based scheme has a better performance than the ISI minimization based scheme.

GHZ-W Genuinely Entangled Subspace Verification with Adaptive Local Measurements

Genuinely entangled subspaces (GESs) are valuable resources in quantum information science. Among these, the three-qubit GHZ-W GES, spanned by the three-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and W states, is a universal and crucial entangled subspace resource for three-qubit systems. In this work, we develop two adaptive verification strategies, the XZ strategy and the rotation strategy, for the three-qubit GHZ-W GES using local measurements and one-way classical communication. These strategies are experimentally feasible, efficient and possess a concise analytical expression for the sample complexity of the rotation strategy, which scales approximately as $2.248ε^{-1}\lnδ^{-1}$, where $ε$ is the infidelity and $1-δ$ is the confidence level. Furthermore, we comprehensively analyze the two-dimensional two-qubit subspaces and classify them into three distinct types, which include unverifiable entangled subspaces, revealing intrinsic limitations in local verification of entangled subspaces.

Neural nanophotonic object detector with ultra-wide field-of-view

Intelligent object detection, which extracts crucial information like targets categories and locations, plays a vital role in emerging technologies including autonomous driving, the Internet of Things, and next-generation mobile communication systems. With the advancement of intelligent object detectors towards higher integration and miniaturization, their portability and adaptability to a broader range of scenarios have been significantly enhanced. However, this progress comes at the cost of reduced detection quality and narrower field-of-view, which severely impacts overall performances. Here we present a neural nanophotonic object detector based on a metalens array, capable of delivering high-quality imaging with an ultra-wide field-of-view of 135°. The combined neural network not only further improves the imaging quality, but also enables the detector to achieve high-precision target recognition and localization. Moreover, we integrated the neural nanophotonic object detector into a miniature unmanned aerial vehicle to enable wide-angle imaging and intelligent recognition of various real-world dynamic objects, demonstrating the high mobility and flexibility of our neural nanophotonic object detector. Our study presents a systematic framework for advancing revolutionary intelligent detection systems, offering significant potential for a wide range of future applications.

Probabilistic ODMA Receiver with Low-Complexity Algorithm for MIMO Unsourced Random Access

In this work, we present the design for both pilot-uncoupled and pilot-free on-off multiple access (ODMA) receivers in unsourced random access (URA) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Unlike pilot-coupled ODMA, where on-off patterns are linked to pilot selection, pilot-uncoupled and pilot-free ODMA reduce transmission redundancy but face challenges in processing complexity and capacity performance. The joint pattern and data detector (JPDD) design is critical for these schemes, but the current JPDD algorithm has high complexity with quadratic computational costs. To address this, we propose a low-complexity detector based on approximate message passing (AMP), which offers linear complexity, providing reduced cost and improved performance in the under-determined linear regression case. Decoding is initialized via pilot-free matrix factorization through alternating minimization, resolving phase and scalar ambiguities. Compared to existing pilot-free schemes, the proposed method achieves a 13 dB improvement and favorable trade-offs in complexity and capacity performance when compared to benchmarks.

Sparse Code Transceiver Design for Unsourced Random Access with Analytical Power Division in Gaussian MAC

In this work, we discuss the problem of unsourced random access (URA) over a Gaussian multiple access channel (GMAC). To address the challenges posed by emerging massive machine-type connectivity, URA reframes multiple access as a coding-theoretic problem. The sparse code-oriented schemes are highly valued because they are widely used in existing protocols, making their implementation require only minimal changes to current networks. However, drawbacks such as the heavy reliance on extrinsic feedback from powerful channel codes and the lack of transmission robustness pose obstacles to the development of sparse codes. To address these drawbacks, a novel sparse code structure based on a universally applicable power division strategy is proposed. Comprehensive numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. Specifically, by employing the proposed power division method, which is derived analytically and does not require extensive simulations, a performance improvement of approximately 2.8 dB is achieved compared to schemes with identical channel code setups.

Integrated Sensing and Communications for Unsourced Random Access: A Spectrum Sharing Compressive Sensing Approach

This paper addresses the unsourced/uncoordinated random access problem in an integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) system, with a focus on uplink multiple access code design. Recent theoretical advancements highlight that an ISAC system will be overwhelmed by the increasing number of active devices, driven by the growth of massive machine-type communication (mMTC). To meet the demands of future mMTC network, fundamental solutions are required that ensure robust capacity while maintaining favorable energy and spectral efficiency. One promising approach to support emerging massive connectivity is the development of systems based on the unsourced ISAC (UNISAC) framework. This paper proposes a spectrum-sharing compressive sensing-based UNISAC (SSCS-UNISAC) and offers insights into the practical design of UNISAC multiple access codes. In this framework, both communication signals (data transmission) and sensing signals (e.g., radar echoes) overlap within finite channel uses and are transmitted via the proposed UNISAC protocol. The proposed decoder exhibits robust performance, providing 20-30 dB capacity gains compared to conventional protocols such as TDMA and ALOHA. Numerical results validate the promising performance of the proposed scheme.

Sparsity-Exploiting Channel Estimation For Unsourced Random Access With Fluid Antenna

This work explores the channel estimation (CE) problem in uplink transmission for unsourced random access (URA) with a fluid antenna receiver. The additional spatial diversity in a fluid antenna system (FAS) addresses the needs of URA design in multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems. We present two CE strategies based on the activation of different FAS ports, namely alternate ports and partial ports CE. Both strategies facilitate the estimation of channel coefficients and angles of arrival (AoAs). Additionally, we discuss how to refine channel estimation by leveraging the sparsity of finite scatterers. Specifically, the proposed partial ports CE strategy is implemented using a regularized estimator, and we optimize the estimator's parameter to achieve the desired AoA precision and refinement. Extensive numerical results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed strategies, and a comparison with a conventional receiver using half-wavelength antennas highlights the promising future of integrating URA and FAS.

On Fundamental Limits for Fluid Antenna-assisted Integrated Sensing and Communications for Unsourced Random Access

This paper investigates the unsourced random access (URA) problem for integrated sensing and commutations (ISAC). Recent results reveal that conventional multiple access strategies for ISAC such as treating interference as noise (TIN) and time-division multiple access (TDMA) can be easily overwhelmed and fail to support the increasingly surging number of active users. Hence, the unsourced ISAC (UNISAC) system model has emerged as a promising enabler for the future ISAC networks. To advance this work, we adopt a more realistic channel model and propose to utilize fluid antenna system (FAS) for UNISAC. The achievable performance bound and floor of the proposed FAS-UNISAC are derived to validate the great potential. Our results demonstrate that promising improvement on the available user volume and the sensing and communication capability can be obtained due to the spatial diversities inherent within fluid antenna.

Prototyping and Experimental Results for ISAC-based Channel Knowledge Map

Channel knowledge map (CKM) is a novel approach for achieving environment-aware communication and sensing. This paper presents an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC)-based CKM prototype system, demonstrating the mutualistic relationship between ISAC and CKM. The system consists of an ISAC base station (BS), a user equipment (UE), and a server. By using a shared orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform over the millimeter wave (mmWave) band, the ISAC BS is able to communicate with the UE while simultaneously sensing the environment and acquiring the UE's location. The prototype showcases the complete process of the construction and application of the ISAC-based CKM. For CKM construction phase, the BS stores the UE's channel feedback information in a database indexed by the UE's location, including beam indices and channel gain. For CKM application phase, the BS looks up the best beam index from the CKM based on the UE's location to achieve training-free mmWave beam alignment. The experimental results show that ISAC can be used to construct or update CKM while communicating with UEs, and the pre-learned CKM can assist ISAC for training-free beam alignment.

Efficient Verification of Stabilizer Code Subspaces with Local Measurements

We address the task of verifying whether a quantum computer, designed to be protected by a specific stabilizer code, correctly encodes the corresponding logical qubits. To achieve this, we develop a general framework for subspace verification and explore several stabilizer code subspaces of practical significance. First, we present two efficient verification strategies for general stabilizer code subspaces, utilizing measurements of their stabilizer generators and stabilizer groups, respectively. Then, building on the observation that certain tests can be conducted in parallel when the subspace exhibits specific structural properties, we propose a coloring strategy tailored to graph code subspaces and an XZ strategy tailored to Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) code subspaces. Compared to stabilizer-based strategies, these new strategies require significantly fewer measurement settings and consume fewer state copies, approaching near-global optimality. Notably, all the strategies employ a limited number of Pauli measurements, are non-adaptive, and work on mixed states, enabling efficient experimental certification of both logical qubits and logical operations in noisy quantum computers. This work contributes to the first systematic study of efficient verification of stabilizer code subspaces with local measurements.

Active RIS-Aided Massive MIMO With Imperfect CSI and Phase Noise

Active reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has attracted significant attention as a recently proposed RIS architecture. Owing to its capability to amplify the incident signals, active RIS can mitigate the multiplicative fading effect inherent in the passive RIS-aided system. In this paper, we consider an active RIS-aided uplink multi-user massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system in the presence of phase noise at the active RIS. Specifically, we employ a two-timescale scheme, where the beamforming at the base station (BS) is adjusted based on the instantaneous aggregated channel state information (CSI) and the statistical CSI serves as the basis for designing the phase shifts at the active RIS, so that the feedback overhead and computational complexity can be significantly reduced. The aggregated channel composed of the cascaded and direct channels is estimated by utilizing the linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) technique. Based on the estimated channel, we derive the analytical closed-form expression of a lower bound of the achievable rate. The power scaling laws in the active RIS-aided system are investigated based on the theoretical expressions. When the transmit power of each user is scaled down by the number of BS antennas M or reflecting elements N, we find that the thermal noise will cause the lower bound of the achievable rate to approach zero, as the number of M or N increases to infinity. Moreover, an optimization approach based on genetic algorithms (GA) is introduced to tackle the phase shift optimization problem. Numerical results reveal that the active RIS can greatly enhance the performance of the considered system under various settings.

Large-Scale RIS Enabled Air-Ground Channels: Near-Field Modeling and Analysis

Existing works mainly rely on the far-field planar-wave-based channel model to assess the performance of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-enabled wireless communication systems. However, when the transmitter and receiver are in near-field ranges, this will result in relatively low computing accuracy. To tackle this challenge, we initially develop an analytical framework for sub-array partitioning. This framework divides the large-scale RIS array into multiple sub-arrays, effectively reducing modeling complexity while maintaining acceptable accuracy. Then, we develop a beam domain channel model based on the proposed sub-array partition framework for large-scale RIS-enabled UAV-to-vehicle communication systems, which can be used to efficiently capture the sparse features in RIS-enabled UAV-to-vehicle channels in both near-field and far-field ranges. Furthermore, some important propagation characteristics of the proposed channel model, including the spatial cross-correlation functions (CCFs), temporal auto-correlation functions (ACFs), frequency correlation functions (CFs), and channel capacities with respect to the different physical features of the RIS and non-stationary properties of the channel model are derived and analyzed. Finally, simulation results are provided to demonstrate that the proposed framework is helpful to achieve a good tradeoff between model complexity and accuracy for investigating the channel propagation characteristics, and therefore providing highly-efficient communications in RIS-enabled UAV-to-vehicle wireless networks.

6G Network AI Architecture for Everyone-Centric Customized Services

Mobile communication standards were developed for enhancing transmission and network performance by using more radio resources and improving spectrum and energy efficiency. How to effectively address diverse user requirements and guarantee everyone's Quality of Experience (QoE) remains an open problem. The Sixth Generation (6G) mobile systems will solve this problem by utilizing heterogenous network resources and pervasive intelligence to support everyone-centric customized services anywhere and anytime. In this article, we first coin the concept of Service Requirement Zone (SRZ) on the user side to characterize and visualize the integrated service requirements and preferences of specific tasks of individual users. On the system side, we further introduce the concept of User Satisfaction Ratio (USR) to evaluate the system's overall service ability of satisfying a variety of tasks with different SRZs. Then, we propose a network Artificial Intelligence (AI) architecture with integrated network resources and pervasive AI capabilities for supporting customized services with guaranteed QoEs. Finally, extensive simulations show that the proposed network AI architecture can consistently offer a higher USR performance than the cloud AI and edge AI architectures with respect to different task scheduling algorithms, random service requirements, and dynamic network conditions.

Integrated Sensing and Channel Estimation by Exploiting Dual Timescales for Delay-Doppler Alignment Modulation

For integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems, the channel information essential for communication and sensing tasks fluctuates across different timescales. Specifically, wireless sensing primarily focuses on acquiring path state information (PSI) (e.g., delay, angle, and Doppler) of individual multi-path components to sense the environment, which usually evolves much more slowly than the composite channel state information (CSI) required for communications. Typically, the CSI is approximately unchanged during the channel coherence time, which characterizes the statistical properties of wireless communication channels. However, this concept is less appropriate for describing that for wireless sensing. To this end, in this paper, we introduce a new timescale to study the variation of the PSI from a channel geometric perspective, termed path invariant time, during which the PSI largely remains constant. Our analysis indicates that the path invariant time considerably exceeds the channel coherence time. Thus, capitalizing on these dual timescales of the wireless channel, in this paper, we propose a novel ISAC framework exploiting the recently proposed delay-Doppler alignment modulation (DDAM) technique. Different from most existing studies on DDAM that assume the availability of perfect PSI, in this work, we propose a novel algorithm, termed as adaptive simultaneously orthogonal matching pursuit with support refinement (ASOMP-SR), for joint environment sensing and PSI estimation. We also analyze the performance of DDAM with imperfectly sensed PSI.Simulation results unveil that the proposed DDAM-based ISAC can achieve superior spectral efficiency and a reduced peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) compared to standard orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).
