Global well-posedness of Vlasov-Poisson-Boltzmann equations with neutral initial data and small relative entropy

The dynamics of dilute plasma particles such as electrons and ions can be modeled by the fundamental two species Vlasov-Poisson-Boltzmann equations, which describes mutual interactions of plasma particles through collisions in the self-induced electric field. In this paper, we are concerned with global well-posedness of mild solutions to these equations. We establish the global existence and uniqueness of mild solutions to the two species Vlasov-Poisson-Boltzmann equations on the torus for a class of initial data with bounded time-velocity-weighted $L^{\infty}$ norm under a nearly neutral condition, along with smallness conditions on the $L^1_xL^\infty_v$ norm and defects in mass, energy and entropy. These conditions allow the initial data to exhibit large amplitude oscillations. Due to the nonlinear effect of electric field, we consider the problem in $W^{1, \infty}_{x,v}$ with large amplitude data, new difficulty arises when establishing globally uniform $W^{1, \infty}_{x,v}$ bound, which has been overcome based on nearly neutral condition, time-velocity weight function and a logarithmic estimate. Moreover, the long-time behavior of solutions in $W^{1, \infty}_{x,v}$ norm, with exponential decay rates of convergence, is also obtained.

Existence of solutions to Dirichlet boundary value problems of the stationary relativistic Boltzmann equation

In this paper, we study the Dirichlet boundary value problem of steady-state relativistic Boltzmann equation in half-line with hard potential model, given the data for the outgoing particles at the boundary and a relativistic global Maxwellian with nonzero macroscopic velocities at the far field. We first explicitly address the sound speed for the relativistic Maxwellian in the far field, according to the eigenvalues of an operator based on macro-micro decomposition. Then we demonstrate that the solvability of the problem varies with the Mach number $\mathcal{M}^\infty$. If $\mathcal{M}^\infty<-1$, a unique solution exists connecting the Dirichlet data and the far field Maxwellian when the boundary data is sufficiently close to the Maxwellian. If $\mathcal{M}^\infty>-1$, such a solution exists only if the outgoing boundary data is small and satisfies certain solvability conditions. The proof is based on the macro-micro decomposition of solutions combined with an artificial damping term. A singular in velocity (at $p_1=0$ and $|p|\gg 1$) and spatially exponential decay weight is chosen to carry out the energy estimates. The result extends the previous work [Ukai, Yang, Yu, Comm. Math. Phys. 236, 373-393, 2003] to the relativistic problem.

Rogue peakon, well-posedness, ill-posedness and blow-up phenomenon for an integrable Camassa-Holm type equation

In this paper, we study an integrable Camassa-Holm (CH) type equation with quadratic nonlinearity. The CH type equation is shown integrable through a Lax pair, and particularly the equation is found to possess a new kind of peaked soliton (peakon) solution - called {\sf rogue peakon}, that is given in a rational form with some logarithmic function, but not a regular traveling wave. We also provide multi-rogue peakon solutions. Furthermore, we discuss the local well-posedness of the solution in the Besov space $B_{p,r}^{s}$ with $1\leq p,r\leq\infty$, $s>\max \left\{1+1/p,3/2\right\}$ or $B_{2,1}^{3/2}$, and then prove the ill-posedness of the solution in $B_{2,\infty}^{3/2}$. Moreover, we establish the global existence and blow-up phenomenon of the solution, which is, if $m_0(x)=u_0-u_{0xx}\geq(\not\equiv) 0$, then the corresponding solution exists globally, meanwhile, if $m_0(x)\leq(\not\equiv) 0$, then the corresponding solution blows up in a finite time.

Boundary layer solution of the Boltzmann equation for specular boundary condition

In the paper, we establish the existence of steady boundary layer solution of Boltzmann equation with specular boundary condition in $L^2_{x,v}\cap L^\infty_{x,v}$ in half-space. The uniqueness, continuity and exponential decay of the solution are obtained, and such estimates are important to prove the Hilbert expansion of Boltzmann equation for half-space problem with specular boundary condition.
