Permutations, substitutions and finite axiomatizability

Algebras of relations form an algebraic framework for the study of logical systems, extending the correspondence between Boolean algebras and propositional logic. Tarski's representable cylindric algebras $RCA_α$, and Halmos' representable polyadic algebras $RPA_α$ both provide algebraic counterparts to first-order logic. In this paper, we show that the usual finite set of polyadic axioms axiomatize $RPA_α$ over $RDf_α$, the diagonal-free subreducts of elements in $RCA_α$. In short: $RPA_α = PA_α + RDf_α$.

Uncountably many maximally consistent neighborhood complete congruential modal logics

We solve an open problem posed by Peter Fritz in \cite{Fritz} by proving that there are uncountably many C-Post complete congruential modal logics which are neighborhood complete. The method is algebraic: we construct an uncountable sequence of varieties of modal algebras which are minimal in the lattice of all subvarieties of modal algebras and are generated by a single complete and atomic modal algebra.

On covers of quasivarieties of p-algebras

This paper characterizes the covers of varieties of p-algebras in the lattice of quasivarieties of p-algebras. In particular, it is shown that every such variety has exactly one cover in the lattice of subquasivarieties. This answers a problem of Kowalski and Słomczyńska.

Two questions of Kowalski-Słomczyńska

That the inclusion $Q(F_3(X))\subseteq \mathsf{Pa}^-_3$ is proper and Mod$(\mathbf{qb}_3)$ is not generated by free $p$-algebras is proved, answering two open questions from Kowalski-Słomczyńska \cite{KowSlom}.

Uncountably many conditionally inaccessible decisions exist in every finite probability space

In a recent paper \cite{Redei-Jing2026} the notion of conditional $p$-inaccessibility of a decision based on utility maximization was defined and examples of conditionally $p$-inaccessible decisions were given. The conditional inaccessibility of a decision based on maximizing utility calculated by a probability measure $p^*$ expresses that the decision cannot be obtained if the expectation values of the utility functions are calculated using the (Jeffrey) conditional probability measure obtained by conditioning $p$ on partial evidence about the probability $p^*$ that determines the decision. The paper \cite{Redei-Jing2026} conjectured that conditionally $p$-inaccessible decisions exist in some probability spaces having arbitrary large finite number of elementary events. In this paper we prove that for any $p$ in any finite probability space there exist an uncountable number of probability measures $p^*$ for each of which there exist an uncountable number of pairs of utility functions that represent conditionally $p$-inaccessible decisions. If $p^*$ is an objective probability determining objectively good decisions and $p$ is the subjective probability determining a rational decision of a decision making Agent, the result says that there is an enormous number of decision situations in which the Agent's subjective probability prohibits the Agent's informed rational decision to be objectively good.

More on modal logics and deduction

We study the relation between additivity and deduction theorems in the algebraic semantics of congruential modal logic. Additivity of the modal operator is well-known to imply the local deduction-detachment theorem. Our main theme is that deduction properties of modal logic persist far beyond the additive setting. We introduce the notion of a strongly non-additive variety, and then we prove that there are continuum many strongly non-additive minimal discriminator varieties of Boolean frames; equivalently, continuum many strongly non-additive maximal congruential modal logics with deduction-detachment theorem. Moreover, every normal modal logic can be transformed, in an injective way, into a strongly non-additive one while preserving the (local) deduction theorem. Finally, we show that neither the class of congruential modal logics with the local deduction theorem nor its complement is elementary.

Probabilities are always axiomatizable

In this paper we study the interaction between logic and probability. In particular, we show that the convex hull of evaluations of a broad class of logics is always effectively axiomatizable. We define a Birkhoff-style calculus for probability axioms for which compactness, and finite completeness is proved. We give example for a logic for which probabilities are not finitely axiomatizable.

Substitutions of variables are finitely axiomatizable over quantifications and permutations

This paper proves that the equational theory of the class $RA_α^{csp}$ of representable polyadic algebras is finitely axiomatizable over its substitution-free reduct $RA_α^{cp}$, for finite $α$. That is, substitutions of variables in finite variable first-order logic can be described by finitely many axioms over the Boolean operations, existential quantifiers and permutations of variables.

Varieties of modal algebras without the congruence extension property

In a recent paper, Krawczyk proved that there are continuum many axiomatic extensions of global consequence associated with the modal system $E$ that do not admit the local deduction detachment theorem. In algebraic parlance, he showed that there are continuum many varieties of modal algebras lacking the congruence extension property. In this paper, we extend Krawczyk's results and construct a continuum of varieties of modal algebras that do not have the congruence extension property, but that do admit other, logically relevant properties, such as monotonicity, extensiveness, idempotency, normality, etc. This gives a continuum of axiomatic extensions of the corresponding modal systems not having the local deduction detachment theorem.

Subalgebra Independence

Subobject independence as morphism co-possibility has recently been defined in [2] and studied in the context of algebraic quantum field theory. This notion of independence is handy when it comes to systems coming from physics, but when directly applied to classical algebras, subobject independence is not entirely satisfactory. The sole purpose of this note is to introduce the notion of subalgebra independence, which is a slight variation of subobject independence, yet this modification enables us to connect subalgebra independence to more traditional notions of independence. Apart from drawing connections between subalgebra independence and coproducts and congruences, we mainly illustrate the notion by discussing examples.

Chromatic number of the product of graphs, graph homomorphisms, Antichains and cofinal subsets of posets without AC

We have observations concerning the set theoretic strength of the following combinatorial statements without the axiom of choice. 1. If in a partially ordered set, all chains are finite and all antichains are countable, then the set is countable. 2. If in a partially ordered set, all chains are finite and all antichains have size $\aleph_α$, then the set has size $\aleph_α$ for any regular $\aleph_α$. 3. CS (Every partially ordered set without a maximal element has two disjoint cofinal subsets). 4. CWF (Every partially ordered set has a cofinal well-founded subset). 5. DT (Dilworth's decomposition theorem for infinite p.o.sets of finite width). 6. If the chromatic number of a graph $G_{1}$ is finite (say $k<ω$), and the chromatic number of another graph $G_{2}$ is infinite, then the chromatic number of $G_{1}\times G_{2}$ is $k$. 7. For an infinite graph $G=(V_{G}, E_{G})$ and a finite graph $H=(V_{H}, E_{H})$, if every finite subgraph of $G$ has a homomorphism into $H$, then so has $G$. Further we study a few statements restricted to linearly-ordered structures without the axiom of choice.

Categorial subsystem independence as morphism co-possibility

This paper formulates a notion of independence of subobjects of an object in a general (i.e. not necessarily concrete) category. Subobject independence is the categorial generalization of what is known as subsystem independence in the context of algebraic relativistic quantum field theory. The content of subobject independence formulated in this paper is morphism co-possibility: two subobjects of an object will be defined to be independent if any two morphisms on the two subobjects of an object are jointly implementable by a single morphism on the larger object. The paper investigates features of subobject independence in general, and subobject independence in the category of C* algebras with respect to operations (completely positive unit preserving linear maps on C*-algebras) as morphisms is suggested as a natural subsystem independence axiom to express relativistic locality of the covariant functor in the categorial approach to quantum field theory.
