regcorr: An R Package for Regression Models of Pearson Correlation Coefficients

Pearson's correlation coefficient is commonly used as a single-number summary of association between two responses. In many applications, however, the strength of association is itself heterogeneous and may vary with demographic, biological, experimental, or environmental covariates. The regcorr package implements regression models in which a Pearson correlation coefficient is linked to a linear predictor of covariates. The package supports bivariate normal responses and bivariate Bernoulli responses, provides Newton-Raphson estimation routines, includes data generators for simulation studies, and supplies a bootstrap-based subroutine for assessing the significance and power of covariate effects. The implementation follows the likelihood-based framework of Dufera, Liu, and Xu (2023) and exposes it through a lightweight R interface with no compiled code and minimal dependencies. This paper describes the statistical model, the computational design of regcorr, reproducible usage examples, and practical guidance for interpreting covariate-dependent correlations. The package is available from the Comprehensive R Archive Network at https://CRAN.R-project.org/package=regcorr under the MIT license.

Cognitive Manipulation: Semi-supervised Visual Representation and Classroom-to-real Reinforcement Learning for Assembly in Semi-structured Environments

Assembling a slave object into a fixture-free master object represents a critical challenge in flexible manufacturing. Existing deep reinforcement learning-based methods, while benefiting from visual or operational priors, often struggle with small-batch precise assembly tasks due to their reliance on insufficient priors and high-costed model development. To address these limitations, this paper introduces a cognitive manipulation and learning approach that utilizes skill graphs to integrate learning-based object detection with fine manipulation models into a cohesive modular policy. This approach enables the detection of the master object from both global and local perspectives to accommodate positional uncertainties and variable backgrounds, and parametric residual policy to handle pose error and intricate contact dynamics effectively. Leveraging the skill graph, our method supports knowledge-informed learning of semi-supervised learning for object detection and classroom-to-real reinforcement learning for fine manipulation. Simulation experiments on a gear-assembly task have demonstrated that the skill-graph-enabled coarse-operation planning and visual attention are essential for efficient learning and robust manipulation, showing substantial improvements of 13$\%$ in success rate and 15.4$\%$ in number of completion steps over competing methods. Real-world experiments further validate that our system is highly effective for robotic assembly in semi-structured environments.

How to characterize imprecision in multi-view clustering?

It is still challenging to cluster multi-view data since existing methods can only assign an object to a specific (singleton) cluster when combining different view information. As a result, it fails to characterize imprecision of objects in overlapping regions of different clusters, thus leading to a high risk of errors. In this paper, we thereby want to answer the question: how to characterize imprecision in multi-view clustering? Correspondingly, we propose a multi-view low-rank evidential c-means based on entropy constraint (MvLRECM). The proposed MvLRECM can be considered as a multi-view version of evidential c-means based on the theory of belief functions. In MvLRECM, each object is allowed to belong to different clusters with various degrees of support (masses of belief) to characterize uncertainty when decision-making. Moreover, if an object is in the overlapping region of several singleton clusters, it can be assigned to a meta-cluster, defined as the union of these singleton clusters, to characterize the local imprecision in the result. In addition, entropy-weighting and low-rank constraints are employed to reduce imprecision and improve accuracy. Compared to state-of-the-art methods, the effectiveness of MvLRECM is demonstrated based on several toy and UCI real datasets.

MMAPS: End-to-End Multi-Grained Multi-Modal Attribute-Aware Product Summarization

Given the long textual product information and the product image, Multi-modal Product Summarization (MPS) aims to increase customers' desire to purchase by highlighting product characteristics with a short textual summary. Existing MPS methods can produce promising results. Nevertheless, they still 1) lack end-to-end product summarization, 2) lack multi-grained multi-modal modeling, and 3) lack multi-modal attribute modeling. To improve MPS, we propose an end-to-end multi-grained multi-modal attribute-aware product summarization method (MMAPS) for generating high-quality product summaries in e-commerce. MMAPS jointly models product attributes and generates product summaries. We design several multi-grained multi-modal tasks to better guide the multi-modal learning of MMAPS. Furthermore, we model product attributes based on both text and image modalities so that multi-modal product characteristics can be manifested in the generated summaries. Extensive experiments on a real large-scale Chinese e-commence dataset demonstrate that our model outperforms state-of-the-art product summarization methods w.r.t. several summarization metrics. Our code is publicly available at: https://github.com/KDEGroup/MMAPS.
