Probing non-standard top-quark couplings via optimal-observable analyses at LHC

Focusing attention on top-quark pair production and its decay processes at the LHC, non-standard top-quark couplings are studied based on the effective Lagrangian constructed with SU(3)X SU(2)X U(1) invariant dimension-6 operators. The optimal-observable analysis is carried out for the charged-lepton distributions in pp -> t t-bar X -> l^+ X' (l=e or mu) in order to estimate the expected statistical uncertainties in measurements of those non-standard t t-bar g and tbW couplings that contribute to this process in the leading order.

Optimal-observable Analysis of Possible Non-standard Top-quark Couplings in pp -> t t-bar X -> l^+ X'

Possible non-standard top-quark interactions with the gluon and the W boson induced by SU(3) X SU(2) X U(1) gauge-invariant dimension-6 effective operators are studied for hadron-collider experiments. Current limits on top-gluon couplings are presented by using the latest experimental data of t t-bar productions at the Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The optimal-observable procedure is applied to the charged-lepton distributions in p p -> t t-bar X -> l^+ X' (l = e or mu) at the LHC in order to estimate the expected statistical uncertainties in measurements of those non-standard top-gluon and top-W couplings that contribute to this process in the leading order.

Exploring anomalous top interactions via the final lepton in ttbar productions/decays at hadron colliders

We study momentum distributions of the final-state charged lepton in ppbar/pp --> ttbar --> l^+ X (l=e or mu) at hadron colliders, i.e., Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in order to explore possible new-physics effects in the top-quark sector. Assuming general model-independent ttbar g + ttbar gg and tbW interactions beyond the standard model, we first derive analytical formulas for the corresponding parton-parton processes. We then compute the lepton angular, energy and transverse-momentum distributions in ppbar/pp collisions to clarify how they are affected by those anomalous couplings.
