The axial charges of the hidden-charm pentaquark states

With the chiral quark model, we have calculated the axial charges of the pentaquark states with $(I,I_3)=(\frac{1}{2},\frac{1}{2})$ and $J^{P}=\frac{1}{2}^{\pm},\frac{3}{2}^{\pm},\frac{5}{2}^{\pm}$. The $P_c$ states with the same $J^P$ quantum numbers but different color-spin-flavor configurations have very different axial charges, which encode important information on their underlying structures. For some of the $J^{P}=\frac{3}{2}^{\pm}$ or $\frac{5}{2}^{\pm}$ pentaquark states, their axial charges are much smaller than that of the proton.

Search for low-lying lattice QCD eigenstates in the Roper regime

The positive-parity nucleon spectrum is explored in $2 + 1$-flavour lattice QCD in a search for new low-lying energy eigenstates near the energy regime of the Roper resonance. In addition to conventional three-quark operators, we consider novel, local five-quark meson-baryon type interpolating fields that hold the promise to reveal new eigenstates that may have been missed in previous analyses. Drawing on phenomenological insight, five-quark operators based on $σ{N}$, $π{N}$ and $a_0{N}$ channels are constructed. Spectra are produced in a high-statistics analysis on the PACS-CS dynamical gauge-field configurations with $m_π = 411\textrm{ MeV}$ via variational analyses of several operator combinations. Despite the introduction of qualitatively different interpolating fields, no new states are observed in the energy regime of the Roper resonance. This result provides further evidence that the low-lying finite-volume scattering states are not localised, and strengthens the interpretation of the Roper as a coupled-channel, dynamically-generated meson-baryon resonance.

Hamiltonian effective field theory study of the $\mathbf{N^*(1535)}$ resonance in lattice QCD

Drawing on experimental data for baryon resonances, Hamiltonian effective field theory (HEFT) is used to predict the positions of the finite-volume energy levels to be observed in lattice QCD simulations of the lowest-lying $J^P=1/2^-$ nucleon excitation. In the initial analysis, the phenomenological parameters of the Hamiltonian model are constrained by experiment and the finite-volume eigenstate energies are a prediction of the model. The agreement between HEFT predictions and lattice QCD results obtained on volumes with spatial lengths of 2 and 3 fm is excellent. These lattice results also admit a more conventional analysis where the low-energy coefficients are constrained by lattice QCD results, enabling a determination of resonance properties from lattice QCD itself. Finally, the role and importance of various components of the Hamiltonian model are examined.

Pseudoscalar Meson and Charmed Baryon Scattering Lengths

We have calculated the scattering lengths between the pseudoscalar meson and charmed triplet, sextet, and excited sextet baryon to the third order with the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. The chiral expansion of the pion channels converges well.

N* Spectroscopy from Lattice QCD: The Roper Explained

This brief review focuses on the low-lying even- and odd-parity excitations of the nucleon obtained in recent lattice QCD calculations. Commencing with a survey of the 2014-15 literature we'll see that results for the first even-parity excitation energy can differ by as much as 1 GeV, a rather unsatisfactory situation. Following a brief review of the methods used to isolate excitations of the nucleon in lattice QCD, and drawing on recent advances, we'll see how a consensus on the low-lying spectrum has emerged among many different lattice groups. To provide insight into the nature of these states we'll review the wave functions and electromagnetic form factors that are available for a few of these states. Consistent with the Luscher formalism for extracting phase shifts from finite volume spectra, the Hamiltonian approach to effective field theory in finite volume can provide guidance on the manner in which physical quantities manifest themselves in the finite volume of the lattice. With this insight, we will address the question; Have we seen the Roper in lattice QCD?

The masses and axial currents of the doubly charmed baryons

The chiral dynamics of the doubly heavy baryons is solely governed by the light quark. In this work, We have derived the chiral corrections to the mass of the doubly heavy baryons up to N$^3$LO. The mass splitting of $Ξ_{cc}$ and $Ω_{cc}$ at the N$^2$LO depends on one unknown low energy constant $c_7$. With the experimental mass of $Ξ_{cc}(3520)$ as the input, we estimate the mass of $Ω_{cc}$ to be around 3.678 GeV. Moreover, we have also performed a systematical analysis of the chiral corrections to the axial currents and axial charges of the doubly heavy baryons. The chiral structure and analytical expressions will be very useful to the chiral extrapolations of the future lattice QCD simulations of the doubly heavy baryons.

Study of Kaon Decay to Two Pions

The weak decay of the kaon to two pions is studied within the NJL Model. Using the standard effective weak Hamiltonian, both the decay amplitude arising from an intermediate state σ-meson and the direct decay amplitude are calculated. The effect of final state interactions is also included. When the matching scale is chosen such that the decay amplitude with isospin I=2 is close to its experimental value, the σ-meson contributes more than 85% of the total I=0 amplitude. This supports recent suggestions that the σ-meson should play a vital role in explaining the ΔI= 1/2 rule in this system.

Chiral Perturbation Theory and the $\bar B \bar B$ Strong Interaction

We have calculated the potentials of the heavy (charmed or bottomed) pseudoscalar mesons up to $O(ε^2)$ with the heavy meson chiral perturbation theory. We take into account the contributions from the football, triangle, box, and crossed diagrams with the 2$ϕ$ exchange and one-loop corrections to the contact terms. We notice that the total 2$ϕ$-exchange potential alone is attractive in the small momentum region in the channel ${\bar B \bar B}^{I=1}$, ${\bar B_s \bar B_s}^{I=0}$, or ${\bar B \bar B_s}^{I=1/2}$, while repulsive in the channel ${\bar B \bar B}^{I=0}$. Hopefully the analytical chiral structures of the potentials may be useful in the extrapolation of the heavy meson interaction from lattice QCD simulation.

Pseudoscalar Goldstone Bosons Scattering off Charmed Baryons with Chiral Perturbation Theory

We have systematically calculated the pseudoscalar Goldstone boson and charmed baryon scattering lengths to the third order with heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. The scattering lengths can reveal the interaction of $K Λ_c$, $K Σ_c$, $πΩ_c$ etc. For each channel, we take into account of the interaction between the external particle and every possible charmed baryon in the triplet, sextet, and excited sextet. We use dimensional regularization and modified minimal subtraction to get rid of the divergences in the loop-diagram corrections. We notice that the convergence of chiral expansion for most of the channels becomes better after we let the low energy constants absorb the analytic contributions of the loop-diagram corrections and keep the nonanalytic terms only.

The Pseudoscalar Meson and Heavy Vector Meson Scattering Lengths

We have systematically studied the S-wave pseudoscalar meson and heavy vector meson scattering lengths to the third order with the chiral perturbation theory, which will be helpful to reveal their strong interaction. For comparison, we have presented the numerical results of the scattering lengths (1) in the framework of the heavy meson chiral perturbation theory and (2) in the framework of the infrared regularization. The chiral expansion converges well in some channels.

Pseudoscalar Meson and Decuplet Baryon Scattering Lengths

We have systematically calculated the S-wave pseudoscalar meson and decuplet baryon scattering lengths to the third order in the small scale expansion scheme of the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. We hope the future study may test the framework and the present predictions.
