Spin-current-controlled anisotropic deformation of magnetic lump solitons

We investigate a (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear spin system containing an effective spin-current transport term. Based on its integrable structure, exact magnetic lump solutions are constructed on a rotating spin background, including both fundamental and higher-order configurations generated via the Darboux transformation. The obtained excitations are doubly localized in spatial directions, while their temporal evolution is characterized by intrinsic spin precession rather than translational motion of the localized envelope. It is shown that the effective spin-current contribution enters the localization coordinate and acts as a geometric control parameter for the spatial structure of the solutions. In particular, spin current induces anisotropic deformation of the localized profile, leading to a continuous transition toward a quasi-one-dimensional soliton-like state under specific parameter regimes. More importantly, this deformation mechanism is found to be universal across different hierarchical lump structures, including both fundamental and higher-order solutions, indicating that spin current governs a unified structural modulation law for the entire family of localized spin excitations. These results provide an analytically tractable example of spin-current-controlled anisotropic deformation and dimensional crossover in nonlinear spin systems, and further reveal a universal mechanism for geometric control of localized spin textures beyond individual solution types.

Black holes in massive Einstein-dilaton gravity

In this paper, we focus on massive Einstein-dilaton gravity including the coupling of dilaton scalar field to massive graviton terms, and then derive static and spherically symmetric solutions of dilatonic black holes in four dimensional spacetime. We find that the dilatonic black hole could possess two horizons (event and cosmological), extreme (Nariai) and naked singularity for the suitably fixed parameters. In addition, we investigate thermodynamic properties of these dilatonic black holes, and check the corresponding first law of black hole thermodynamics. Extending to the massive Einstein-dilaton gravity in high dimensions, we further obtain the dilatonic black hole solutions in $(d+1)$ dimensional spacetime.

Pulse-driven depinning of magnetic gap modes in ferromagnetic films

Manipulation of magnons in artificial magnonic crystals (MCs) leads to fascinating nonlinear wave phenomena such as the generation of gap solitons, which has been mostly limited to one-dimensional systems. Here, we propose a model system for the magnetization in two-dimensional MCs subjected to a periodic external magnetic field, describing the dynamics of magnetic gap solitons (MGSs) formed by nonlinear self-trapping. We show the formation, stability, and dynamics for various two-dimensional gap modes, including gap solitons and vortical ones. Their existence regions depend on the anisotropic axis orientation of the ferromagnetic film. The Bloch oscillation and depinning propagation of MGSs under constant spin-current injections are discovered and characterized. We design a scheme of pulse current injection to achieve distortionless propagation of MGSs. These findings show that the 2D magnonic crystals can be viewed as a building block for MGSs-based storage and transmission, where the propagation and localization are variously controlled and reconfigurable.

Discovery and regulation of chiral magnetic solitons: Exact solution from Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation

The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation has emerged as a fundamental and indispensable framework within the realm of magnetism. However, solving the LLG equation, encompassing full nonlinearity amidst intricate complexities, presents formidable challenges. In this context, we develop a precise mapping through geometric representation, establishing a direct linkage between the LLG equation and an integrable generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation. This novel mapping provides accessibility towards acquiring a great number of exact spatiotemporal solutions. Notably, exact chiral magnetic solitons, critical for stability and controllability in propagation with and without damping effects are discovered. Our formulation provides exact solutions for the long-standing fully nonlinear problem, facilitating practical control through spin current injection in magnetic memory applications.

Magnetic lump motion in saturated ferromagnetic films

In this paper, we study in detail the nonlinear propagation of magnetic soliton in a ferromagnetic film. The sample is magnetized to saturation by an external field perpendicular to film plane. A new generalized (2+1)-dimensional short-wave asymptotic model is derived. The bilinear-like forms of this equation are constructed, and exact magnetic line soliton solutions are exhibited. It is observed that a series of stable lumps can be generated by an unstable magnetic soliton under Gaussian disturbance. Such magnetic lumps are highly stable and can maintain their shapes and velocities during evolution or collision. The interaction between lump and magnetic soliton, as well as interaction between two lumps, are numerically investigated. We further discuss the nonlinear motion of lumps in ferrites with Gilbert-damping and inhomogeneous exchange effects. The results show that the Gilbert-damping effects make the amplitude and velocity of the magnetic lump decay exponentially during propagation. And the shock waves are generated from a lump when quenching the strength of inhomogeneous exchange.

Unveiling Stable One-dimensional Magnetic Solitons in Magnetic Bilayers

We propose a novel model which efficiently describes the magnetization dynamics in a magnetic bilayer system. By applying a particular gauge transformation to the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation, we successfully convert the model into an exactly integrable framework. Thus the obtained analytical solutions allows us to predict a 1D magnetic soliton pair existed by tunning the thickness of the spacing layer between the two ferrimagnetic layers. The decoupling-unlocking-locking transition of soliton motion is determined at various interaction intensitiy. Our results have implications for the manipulation of magnetic solitons and the design of magnetic soliton-based logic devices.

Observation of critical phase transition in a generalized Aubry-André-Harper model on a superconducting quantum processor with tunable couplers

Quantum simulation enables study of many-body systems in non-equilibrium by mapping to a controllable quantum system, providing a new tool for computational intractable problems. Here, using a programmable quantum processor with a chain of 10 superconducting qubits interacted through tunable couplers, we simulate the one-dimensional generalized Aubry-André-Harper model for three different phases, i.e., extended, localized and critical phases. The properties of phase transitions and many-body dynamics are studied in the presence of quasi-periodic modulations for both off-diagonal hopping coefficients and on-site potentials of the model controlled respectively by adjusting strength of couplings and qubit frequencies. We observe the spin transport for initial single- and multi-excitation states in different phases, and characterize phase transitions by experimentally measuring dynamics of participation entropies. Our experimental results demonstrate that the newly developed tunable coupling architecture of superconducting processor extends greatly the simulation realms for a wide variety of Hamiltonians, and may trigger further investigations on various quantum and topological phenomena.

Heteroclinic-structure transition of the pure quartic modulation instability

We show that, in the pure-quartic systems, modulation instability (MI) undergoes heteroclinic-structure transitions (HSTs) at two critical frequencies of ω c1 and ω c2 ( ω c2 > ω c1 ), which indicates that there are significantchanges of the spatiotemporal behavior in the system. The complicated heteroclinic structure of instability obtained by the mode truncation method reveals all possible dynamic trajectories of nonlinear waves, which allows us to discover the various types of Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) recurrences and Akhmediev breathers (ABs). When the modulational frequency satisfies ω < ω c2 , the heteroclinic structure encompasses two separatrixes corresponding to the ABs and the nonlinear wave with a modulated final state, which individually separate FPU recurrences into three different regions. Remarkably, crossing critical frequency ω c1 , both the staggered FPU recurrences and ABs essentially switch their patterns. These HST behaviors will give vitality to the study of MI.

The topological phase of bright solitons

We study the topological phase of bright soliton with arbitrary velocity under the self-steepening effect. Such topological phase can be described by the topological vector potential and effective magnetic field. We find that the point-like magnetic fields corresponds to the density peak of such bright solitons, where each elementary magnetic flux is π. Remarkably, we show that two bright solitons can generate an additional topological field due to the phase jump between them. Our research provided the possibility to use bright solitons to explore topological properties.

Breathing solitons induced by collision in dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates

We numerically study the breathing dynamics induced by collision between bright solitons in the one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates with strong dipole-dipole interaction. This breathing phenomenon is closely related to the after-collision short-lived attraction of solitons induced by the dipolar effect. The initial phase difference of solitons leads to the asymmetric dynamics after collision, which is manifested on their different breathing amplitude, breathing frequency, and atom number. We clarify that the asymmetry of breathing frequency is directly induced by the asymmetric atom number, rather than initial phase difference. Moreover, the collision between breathing solitons can produce new after-two-collision breathing solitons, whose breathing amplitude can be adjusted and reach the maximum (or minimum) when the peak-peak (or dip-dip) collision happens.

Controllable generations of several nonlinear waves in optical fibers with third-order dispersion

We propose a method to controllably generate six kinds of nonlinear waves on continuous waves, including the one- and multi-peak solitons, the Akhmediev, Kuznetsov-Ma, and Taijiri-Watanabe breathers, and stable periodic waves. In the nonlinear fiber system with third-order dispersion, we illustrate their generation conditions by the modified linear stability analysis, and numerically generate them from initial perturbations on continuous waves. We implement the quantitative control over their dynamical features, including the wave type, velocity, periodicity, and localization. Our results may provide an effective scheme for generating optical solitons on continuous waves, and it can also be applied for wave generations in other various nonlinear systems.

A direct derivation of the dark soliton excitation energy

Dark solitons are common topological excitations in a wide array of nonlinear waves. The dark soliton excitation energy, crucial for exploring dark soliton dynamics, is necessarily calculated in a renormalized form due to its existence on a finite background. Despite its tremendous importance and success, the renormalized energy form was firstly only suggested with no detailed derivation, and was then "derived" in the grand canonical ensemble. In this work, we revisit this fundamental problem and provide an alternative and intuitive derivation of the energy form from the fundamental field energy by utilizing a limiting procedure that conserves number of particles. Our derivation yields the same result, putting therefore the dark soliton energy form on a solid basis.

Interference properties of two-component matter wave solitons

The wave properties of solitons in a two-component Bose-Einstein condensates with attractive interactions or repulsive interactions are investigated in detail. We demonstrate that dark solitons in one of component admit interference and tunneling behaviour, in sharp contrast to the scalar dark solitons and vector dark solitons. The analytic analysis of interference properties shows that spatial interference pattern is determined by the relative velocity of solitons, while temporal interference pattern depends on the velocities and widths of two solitons, differing from the interference properties of scalar bright solitons. Especially, for attractive interactions system, we show that interference effects can induce some short-time density humps (whose densities are higher than background density) during the collision process of dark solitons. Moreover, the maximum hump value is remarkably sensitive to the variation of the solitons' parameters. For repulsive interactions system, the temporal-spatial interference periods have lower limits. Numerical simulations results suggest that interference patterns for dark-bright solitons are more robust against noises than bright-dark solitons. These explicit interference properties can be used to measure the velocities and widths of solitons. It is expected that these interference behaviour can be observed experimentally and could be used to design matter wave soliton interferometry in vector systems.

Breather induced quantized superfluid vortex filaments and their characterization

We study and characterize the breather-induced quantized superfluid vortex filaments which correspond to the Kuznetsov-Ma breather and super-regular breather excitations developing from localised perturbations. Such vortex filaments, emerging from an otherwise perturbed helical vortex, exhibit intriguing loop structures corresponding to the large amplitude of breathers due to the dual action of bending and twisting of the vortex. The loop induced by Kuznetsov-Ma breather emerges periodically as time increases, while the loop structure triggered by super-regular breather---the loop pair---exhibits striking symmetry breaking due to the broken reflection symmetry of the group velocities of super-regular breather. In particular, we identify explicitly the generation conditions of these loop excitations by introducing a physical quantity---the integral of the relative quadratic curvature---which corresponds to the effective energy of breathers. Although the nature of nonlinearity, it is demonstrated that this physical quantity shows a linear correlation with the loop size. These results will deepen our understanding of breather-induced vortex filaments and be helpful for controllable ring-like excitations on the vortices.

Tricritical point and solid/liquid/gas phase transition of higher dimensional AdS black hole in massive gravity

By considering the fifth order term of the interaction potential in massive gravity theory, we study the $P-V$ critical behaviors of AdS black hole in $d \geq 7$ dimensional space-time, and find the tricritical point and the solid/liquid/gas phase transition in addition to the Van der Waals-like phase and the reentrant phase transition of the system. The critical phenomena of black holes depend crucially on the number $n$ of interaction potential terms.

Surface energy of the one-dimensional supersymmetric $t-J$ model with unparallel boundary fields

We investigate the thermodynamic limit of the exact solution, which is given by an inhomogeneous $T-Q$ relation, of the one-dimensional supersymmetric $t-J$ model with unparallel boundary magnetic fields. It is shown that the contribution of the inhomogeneous term at the ground state satisfies the $L^{-1}$ scaling law, where $L$ is the system-size. This fact enables us to calculate the surface (or boundary) energy of the system. The method used in this paper can be generalized to study the thermodynamic limit and surface energy of other models related to rational R-matrices.

Chess-Board-Like Spatio-Temporal Interference Patterns and Their Excitation

We discover new type of interference patterns generated in the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with localised periodic initial conditions. At special conditions, found in the present work, these patterns exhibit novel chess-board-like spatio-temporal structures which can be observed as the outcome of collision of two breathers. The infinitely extended chess-board-like patterns correspond to the continuous spectrum bands of the NLSE theory. More complicated patterns can be observed when the initial condition contains several localised periodic swells. These patterns can be observed in a variety of physical situations ranging from optics and hydrodynamics to Bose-Einstein condensates and plasma.

Solitons in Nonlinear Systems and Eigen-states in Quantum Wells

We study the relations between solitons of nonlinear Schrödinger equation described systems and eigen-states of linear Schrödinger equation with some quantum wells. Many different non-degenerated solitons are re-derived from the eigen-states in the quantum wells. We show that the vector solitons for coupled system with attractive interactions correspond to the identical eigen-states with the ones of coupled systems with repulsive interactions. The energy eigenvalues of them seem to be different, but they can be reduced to identical ones in the same quantum wells. The non-degenerated solitons for multi-component systems can be used to construct much abundant degenerated solitons in more components coupled cases. On the other hand, we demonstrate soliton solutions in nonlinear systems can be also used to solve the eigen-problems of quantum wells. As an example, we present eigenvalue and eigen-state in a complicated quantum well for which the Hamiltonian belongs to the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian having Parity-Time symmetry. We further present the ground state and the first exited state in an asymmetric quantum double-well from asymmetric solitons. Based on these results, we expect that many nonlinear physical systems can be used to observe the quantum states evolution of quantum wells, such as water wave tank, nonlinear fiber, Bose-Einstein condensate, and even plasma, although some of them are classical physical systems. These relations provide another different way to understand the stability of solitons in nonlinear Schrödinger equation described systems, in contrast to the balance between dispersion and nonlinearity.
