DQE: A Semantic-Aware Evaluation Metric for Time Series Anomaly Detection

Time series anomaly detection has achieved remarkable progress in recent years. However, evaluation practices have received comparatively less attention, despite their critical importance. Existing metrics exhibit several limitations: (1) bias toward point-level coverage, (2) insensitivity or inconsistency in near-miss detections, (3) inadequate penalization of false alarms, and (4) inconsistency caused by threshold or threshold-interval selection. These limitations can produce unreliable or counterintuitive results, hindering objective progress. In this work, we revisit the evaluation of time series anomaly detection from the perspective of detection semantics and propose a novel metric for more comprehensive assessment. We first introduce a partitioning strategy grounded in detection semantics, which decomposes the local temporal region of each anomaly into three functionally distinct subregions. Using this partitioning, we evaluate overall detection behavior across events and design finer-grained scoring mechanisms for each subregion, enabling more reliable and interpretable assessment. Through a systematic study of existing metrics, we identify an evaluation bias associated with threshold-interval selection and adopt an approach that aggregates detection qualities across the full threshold spectrum, thereby eliminating evaluation inconsistency. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world data demonstrate that our metric provides stable, discriminative, and interpretable evaluation, while achieving robust assessment compared with ten widely used metrics.

Delay-Doppler Domain Channel Measurements and Modeling in High-Speed Railways

As next-generation wireless communication systems need to be able to operate in high-frequency bands and high-mobility scenarios, delay-Doppler (DD) domain multicarrier (DDMC) modulation schemes, such as orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS), demonstrate superior reliability over orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). Accurate DD domain channel modeling is essential for DDMC system design. However, since traditional channel modeling approaches are mainly confined to time, frequency, and space domains, the principles of DD domain channel modeling remain poorly studied. To address this issue, we propose a systematic DD domain channel measurement and modeling methodology in high-speed railway (HSR) scenarios. First, we design a DD domain channel measurement method based on the long-term evolution for railway (LTE-R) system. Second, for DD domain channel modeling, we investigate quasi-stationary interval, statistical power modeling of multipath components, and particularly, the quasi-invariant intervals of DD domain channel fading coefficients. Third, via LTE-R measurements at 371 km/h, taking the quasi-stationary interval as the decision criterion, we establish DD domain channel models under different channel time-varying conditions in HSR scenarios. Fourth, the accuracy of proposed DD domain channel models is validated via bit error rate comparison of OTFS transmission. In addition, simulation verifies that in HSR scenario, the quasi-invariant interval of DD domain channel fading coefficient is on millisecond (ms) order of magnitude, which is much smaller than the quasi-stationary interval length on 100 ms order of magnitude. This study could provide theoretical guidance for DD domain modeling in high-mobility environments, supporting future DDMC and integrated sensing and communication designs for 6G and beyond.

Pushing Trade-Off Boundaries: Compact yet Effective Remote Sensing Change Detection

Remote sensing change detection is essential for monitoring urban expansion, disaster assessment, and resource management, offering timely, accurate, and large-scale insights into dynamic landscape transformations. While deep learning has revolutionized change detection, the increasing complexity and computational demands of modern models have not necessarily translated into significant accuracy gains. Instead of following this trend, this study explores a more efficient approach, focusing on lightweight models that maintain high accuracy while minimizing resource consumption, which is an essential requirement for on-satellite processing. To this end, we propose FlickCD, which means quick flick then get great results, pushing the boundaries of the performance-resource trade-off. FlickCD introduces an Enhanced Difference Module (EDM) to amplify critical feature differences between temporal phases while suppressing irrelevant variations such as lighting and weather changes, thereby reducing computational costs in the subsequent change decoder. Additionally, the FlickCD decoder incorporates Local-Global Fusion Blocks, leveraging Shifted Window Self-Attention (SWSA) and Efficient Global Self-Attention (EGSA) to effectively capture semantic information at multiple scales, preserving both coarse- and fine-grained changes. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets demonstrate that FlickCD reduces computational and storage overheads by more than an order of magnitude while achieving state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance or incurring only a minor (<1% F1) accuracy trade-off. The implementation code is publicly available at https://github.com/xulsh8/FlickCD.

Research on Composite Bit Technology for Hard Formations and Its Application in Igneous Rock

The igneous rocks in deep formation have the characteristics of hardness, poor drillability and high abrasiveness, which is a difficulty in speeding up drilling. The drilling efficiency of existing conventional bits is low in igneous rocks. Based on the characteristics of igneous rocks, rock mechanical parameters and drillability experiments of granite, sandstone and other rocks were carried out. The rock drilling experiments of composite bit, tri-cone bit and PDC bit were carried out. Experiments have shown that in granite with very high strength, the drilling efficiency of conventional cone bit is very low, and it is extremely difficult for PDC bit to penetrate. The impact crushing effect of the cone of the composite bit can make the rock at the bottom of the well produce pits and cracks, which can assist the PDC cutters to penetrate into the formation, and solve the problem of the PDC cutters difficulty in penetrating in hard formations. In softer formations, the rock-breaking advantage of composite bit is not obvious, and the rock-breaking efficiency is lower than that of PDC bit. However, in hard formations, the advantage of composite bit is obvious, with higher drilling efficiency than PDC bit and cone bits. The personalized composite bit developed for deep igneous rocks formations has fast drilling speed, strong sustained drilling ability, long footage, and significant drilling speed-up effect. It significantly reduces the number of runs in deep drilling operations and achieves good application results. The composite bit is suitable for drilling in deep igneous hard-to-drill formations, and it has obvious advantages in deep igneous formations. It is a good choice for drilling speed-up in this kind of hard-to-drill formation.

Lightweight Change Detection in Heterogeneous Remote Sensing Images with Online All-Integer Pruning Training

Detection of changes in heterogeneous remote sensing images is vital, especially in response to emergencies like earthquakes and floods. Current homogenous transformation-based change detection (CD) methods often suffer from high computation and memory costs, which are not friendly to edge-computation devices like onboard CD devices at satellites. To address this issue, this paper proposes a new lightweight CD method for heterogeneous remote sensing images that employs the online all-integer pruning (OAIP) training strategy to efficiently fine-tune the CD network using the current test data. The proposed CD network consists of two visual geometry group (VGG) subnetworks as the backbone architecture. In the OAIP-based training process, all the weights, gradients, and intermediate data are quantized to integers to speed up training and reduce memory usage, where the per-layer block exponentiation scaling scheme is utilized to reduce the computation errors of network parameters caused by quantization. Second, an adaptive filter-level pruning method based on the L1-norm criterion is employed to further lighten the fine-tuning process of the CD network. Experimental results show that the proposed OAIP-based method attains similar detection performance (but with significantly reduced computation complexity and memory usage) in comparison with state-of-the-art CD methods.

Measurement of the neutron beam profile of the Back-n white neutron facility at CSNS with a Micromegas detector

The Back-n white neutron beam line, which uses back-streaming white neutrons from the spallation target of the China Spallation Neutron Source, is used for nuclear data measurements. A Micromegas-based neutron detector with two variants was specially developed to measure the beam spot distribution for this beam line. In this article, the design, fabrication, and characterization of the detector are described. The results of the detector performance tests are presented, which include the relative electron transparency, the gain and the gain uniformity, and the neutron beam profile reconstruction capability. The result of the first measurement of the Back-n neutron beam spot distribution is also presented.

Measurements of differential and angle-integrated cross sections for the $^{10}$B($n, α$)$^{7}$Li reaction in the neutron energy range from 1.0 eV to 2.5 MeV

Differential and angle-integrated cross sections for the $^{10}$B($n, α$)$^{7}$Li, $^{10}$B($n, α$$_{0}$)$^{7}$Li and $^{10}$B($n, α$$_{1}$)$^{7}$Li$^{*}$ reactions have been measured at CSNS Back-n white neutron source. Two enriched (90%) $^{10}$B samples 5.0 cm in diameter and ~85.0 $μ$g/cm$^{2}$ in thickness each with an aluminum backing were prepared, and back-to-back mounted at the sample holder. The charged particles were detected using the silicon-detector array of the Light-charged Particle Detector Array (LPDA) system. The neutron energy E$_{n}$ was determined by TOF (time-of-flight) method, and the valid $α$ events were extracted from the E$_{n}$-Amplitude two-dimensional spectrum. With 15 silicon detectors, the differential cross sections of $α$-particles were measured from 19.2° to 160.8°. Fitted with the Legendre polynomial series, the ($n, α$) cross sections were obtained through integration. The absolute cross sections were normalized using the standard cross sections of the $^{10}$B($n, α$)$^{7}$Li reaction in the 0.3 - 0.5 MeV neutron energy region. The measurement neutron energy range for the $^{10}$B($n, α$)$^{7}$Li reaction is 1.0 eV $\le$ En < 2.5 MeV (67 energy points), and for the $^{10}$B($n, α$$_{0}$)$^{7}$Li and $^{10}$B($n, α$$_{1}$)$^{7}$Li$^{*}$ reactions is 1.0 eV $\le$ En < 1.0 MeV (59 energy points). The present results have been analyzed by the resonance reaction mechanism and the level structure of the $^{11}$B compound system, and compared with existing measurements and evaluations.
