Whisper-Aware LLM: Self-Supervised Uncertainty Learning for Robust Whispered Speech Recognition

The signal ambiguity of whispered speech drives ASR systems toward two opposing failure modes: failing to capture whispered speech or hallucinatory transcription of noise. This paper introduces the Whisper-Aware LLM, a framework that teaches an Audio-LLM to perceive and react to this uncertainty. Our model develops an intrinsic self-awareness by learning to quantify the physical deficiencies of acoustic signals through targeted self-supervised tasks. This learned uncertainty is then operationalized via a novel Confidence-Fused Decoding mechanism, which provides both high-level instructions and frame-level attention modulation to the LLM decoder. Our experiments confirm the effectiveness of this approach. The model sets a new state-of-the-art on whispered speech with a 17% relative CER reduction on AISHELL6-Whisper. At the same time, it directly addresses the reliability trade-off, with hallucination rates dropping from over 25% to 4.5%.

LMPAN: A Lightweight Multi-Path Alignment Network for Joint Full-Duplex Acoustic Echo Cancellation and Noise Suppression

We propose a lightweight multi-path alignment network (LMPAN) for on-device joint acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) and noise suppression (NS) in full-duplex spoken dialogue systems. To address hardware-induced distortions and dynamic acoustic conditions, we introduce three core innovations: (1) a multi-path alignment stage correcting temporal and energy mismatches across reference, linear AEC (LAEC) output, and microphone signals; (2) an attention-based mechanism that dynamically integrates enhanced LAEC and microphone features under varying acoustic scenarios; (3) a post-filtering module with a dynamic target generation strategy for downstream tasks (ASR, VAD). Furthermore, we adopt a two-stage training framework leveraging self-supervised learning representations to enhance perceptual quality. Experiments show that LMPAN, with only 480K parameters and 126 MACs, achieves performance comparable to the state-of-the-art lightweight model DeepVQE-S, while ensuring real-time inference capability.

A Hybrid Discriminative and Generative System for Universal Speech Enhancement

Universal speech enhancement aims at handling inputs with various speech distortions and recording conditions. In this work, we propose a novel hybrid architecture that synergizes the signal fidelity of discriminative modeling with the reconstruction capabilities of generative modeling. Our system utilizes the discriminative TF-GridNet model with the Sampling-Frequency-Independent strategy to handle variable sampling rates universally. In parallel, an autoregressive model combined with spectral mapping modeling generates detail-rich speech while effectively suppressing generative artifacts. Finally, a fusion network learns adaptive weights of the two outputs under the optimization of signal-level losses and the comprehensive Speech Quality Assessment (SQA) loss. Our proposed system is evaluated in the ICASSP 2026 URGENT Challenge (Track 1) and ranks the third place.

QuarkAudio Technical Report

Many existing audio processing and generation models rely on task-specific architectures, resulting in fragmented development efforts and limited extensibility. It is therefore promising to design a unified framework capable of handling multiple tasks, while providing robust instruction and audio understanding and high-quality audio generation. This requires a compatible paradigm design, a powerful backbone, and a high-fidelity audio reconstruction module. To meet these requirements, this technical report introduces QuarkAudio, a decoder-only autoregressive (AR) LM-based generative framework that unifies multiple tasks. The framework includes a unified discrete audio tokenizer, H-Codec, which incorporates self-supervised learning (SSL) representations into the tokenization and reconstruction process. We further propose several improvements to H-Codec, such as a dynamic frame-rate mechanism and extending the audio sampling rate to 48 kHz. QuarkAudio unifies tasks by using task-specific conditional information as the conditioning sequence of the decoder-only LM, and predicting discrete target audio tokens in an AR manner. The framework supports a wide range of audio processing and generation tasks, including speech restoration (SR), target speaker extraction (TSE), speech separation (SS), voice conversion (VC), and language-queried audio source separation (LASS). In addition, we extend downstream tasks to universal free-form audio editing guided by natural language instructions (including speech semantic editing and audio event editing). Experimental results show that H-Codec achieves high-quality audio reconstruction with a low frame rate, improving both the efficiency and performance of downstream audio generation, and that QuarkAudio delivers competitive or comparable performance to state-of-the-art task-specific or multi-task systems across multiple tasks.

UniTok-Audio: A Unified Audio Generation Framework via Generative Modeling on Discrete Codec Tokens

Generative modeling has recently achieved remarkable success across text, image, and audio domains, demonstrating powerful capabilities for unified representation learning. However, audio generation models still face challenges in terms of audio quality and generalization ability across tasks. This fragmentation results in redundant development efforts, inconsistent performance, and limited extensibility. To address these issues, we propose \textbf{UniTok-Audio}, a scalable and extensible framework for unified audio generation tasks. Specifically, 1) UniTok-Audio extracts continuous feature of conditions to generates discrete tokens of target audio in an autoregressive manner; 2) a special task identifier token unifies different learning patterns of multiple tasks in a single framework; 3) a dual-stream audio codec involving acoustic and semantic branch is developed for high-fidelity waveform reconstruction. Experimental results demonstrate that UniTok-Audio achieves competitive performance in comparation with state-of-the-art task-specific or multi-task systems across five time-aligned tasks: speech restoration, target speaker extraction, speech separation, voice conversion, and language-queried audio source separation. To foster future research, we will open-source our codebase. The demo page of our work can be found here: https://alibaba.github.io/unified-audio.

UniSE: A Unified Framework for Decoder-Only Autoregressive LM-Based Speech Enhancement

Neural audio codecs have largely promoted the application of language models (LMs) for speech applications. However, the effectiveness of autoregressive LM-based models in unifying speech enhancement (SE) tasks remains underexplored. In this work, we propose UniSE, a unified decoder-only LM-based framework to handle different SE tasks including speech restoration, target speaker extraction, and speech separation. Conditioned on input speech features, it autoregressively generates target discrete tokens, facilitating compatibility between distinct learning patterns of multiple tasks. To further optimize speech quality, we introduce a progressive reinforcement learning strategy with multiple assessment criteria. Experiments on several benchmarks show that UniSE achieves competitive performance compared to discriminative and generative baselines, demonstrating the capacity of LMs in unifying SE tasks. Received Signal Strength Based Wireless Source Localization with Inaccurate Anchor Position

Received signal strength (RSS)-based wireless localization is easy to implement at low cost. In practice, exact positions of anchors may not be available. This paper focuses on determining the location of a source in the presence of inaccurate positions of anchors based on RSS directly. We first use Taylor expansion and a min-max approach to get a maximum likelihood estimator of the coordinates of the source. Then we propose a relaxed semi-definite programming model to circumvent the non-convexity. We also propose a rounding algorithm considering both inaccurate source location and inaccurate anchor locations.Simulation results together with analysis are presented to validate the proposed method.
