Efficient Multi-scale Masked Autoencoders with Hybrid-Attention Mechanism for Breast Lesion Classification

Self-supervised learning (SSL) with Vision Transformers (ViT) has shown immense potential in medical image analysis. However, the quadratic complexity ($\mathcal{O}(N^2)$) of standard self-attention poses a severe barrier for high-resolution biomedical tasks, effectively excluding resource-constrained research labs from utilizing state-of-the-art models. To address this computational bottleneck without sacrificing diagnostic accuracy, we propose \textbf{MIRAM}, a Multi-scale Masked Autoencoder that leverages a \textbf{hybrid-attention mechanism}. Our architecture uniquely decouples semantic learning from detail reconstruction using a dual-decoder design: a standard transformer decoder captures global semantics at low resolution, while a linear-complexity decoder (comparing Linformer, Performer, and Nyströmformer) handles the computationally expensive high-resolution reconstruction. This reduces the complexity of the upscaling stage from quadratic to linear ($\mathcal{O}(N)$), enabling high-fidelity training on consumer-grade GPUs. We validate our approach on the CBIS-DDSM mammography dataset. Remarkably, our \textbf{Nyströmformer-based variant} achieves a classification accuracy of \textbf{61.0\%}, outperforming both standard MAE (58.9\%) and MoCo-v3 (60.2\%) while requiring significantly less memory. These results demonstrate that hybrid-attention architectures can democratize high-resolution medical AI, making powerful SSL accessible to researchers with limited hardware resources.

Spatiotemporal-Untrammelled Mixture of Experts for Multi-Person Motion Prediction

Comprehensively and flexibly capturing the complex spatio-temporal dependencies of human motion is critical for multi-person motion prediction. Existing methods grapple with two primary limitations: i) Inflexible spatiotemporal representation due to reliance on positional encodings for capturing spatiotemporal information. ii) High computational costs stemming from the quadratic time complexity of conventional attention mechanisms. To overcome these limitations, we propose the Spatiotemporal-Untrammelled Mixture of Experts (ST-MoE), which flexibly explores complex spatio-temporal dependencies in human motion and significantly reduces computational cost. To adaptively mine complex spatio-temporal patterns from human motion, our model incorporates four distinct types of spatiotemporal experts, each specializing in capturing different spatial or temporal dependencies. To reduce the potential computational overhead while integrating multiple experts, we introduce bidirectional spatiotemporal Mamba as experts, each sharing bidirectional temporal and spatial Mamba in distinct combinations to achieve model efficiency and parameter economy. Extensive experiments on four multi-person benchmark datasets demonstrate that our approach not only outperforms state-of-art in accuracy but also reduces model parameter by 41.38% and achieves a 3.6x speedup in training. The code is available at https://github.com/alanyz106/ST-MoE.

Fabrication of hydrogen-bonded metal inorganic-organic complex glasses by ligand-tuning approach

Metal inorganic-organic complex (MIOC) crystals are a new category of hybrid glass formers. However, the glass-forming compositions of MIOC crystals are limited due to lack of both a general design principle for such compositions and a deep understanding of the structure and formation mechanism for MIOC glasses. This work reports a general approach for synthesizing glass-forming MIOC crystals. In detail, the principle of this approach is based on the creation of hydrogen-bonded structural network by substituting acid anions for imidazole or benzimidazole ligands in the tetrahedral units of zeolitic imidazolate framework crystals. By tuning the metal centers, anions, and organic ligands of MIOCs, supramolecular unit structures can be designed to construct supramolecular networks and thereby enable property modulation. Furthermore, mixed-ligand synthesis yielded a mixed-crystal system in which the glass-transition temperature (Tg) can be linearly tuned from 282 K to 360 K through gradual substitution of benzimidazole for imidazole. Interestingly, upon vitrification, MIOCs were observed to undergo reorganization of hydrogen-bonded networks, with retention of tetrahedral units, short-range disorder, and the freezing of multiple conformations. This work offers a new strategy to systematically expand the glass-forming compositional range of MIOCs and to develop functional MIOC glasses.

Electrothermal manipulation of current-induced phase transitions in ferrimagnetic Mn$_3$Si$_2$Te$_6$

Phase transitions driven by external stimuli are central to condensed matter physics, providing critical insights into symmetry breaking and emergent phenomena. Recently, ferrimagnetic (FiM) Mn$_3$Si$_2$Te$_6$ has attracted considerable attention for its magnetic-field-induced insulator-metal transitions (IMTs) and unconventional current-driven phase transitions, yet the role of applied currents in the magnetic phase remains poorly understood. Here, by combining local magnetization probes and time-resolved transport measurements, we uncover an electrothermal origin for the current-induced first-order-like phase transitions, characterized by abrupt voltage jumps and distinct magnetic domain evolution. Current-voltage (I-V) characteristics measured under triangular waveforms exhibit strong non-reciprocal and hysteretic behaviors, which are significantly suppressed at frequencies ~1000 Hz. Time-resolved studies using rectangular pulsed currents demonstrate that the resistance dynamics closely mirror the equilibrium resistance-temperature profile, directly implicating Joule heating as the driving mechanism. Furthermore, we reveal that the intrinsic I-V response adheres to Ohm's law, displaying linearity across various magnetic fields and temperatures. Our work advocates for a cautious approach in distinguishing between genuine current-induced nonequilibrium quantum states and thermal effects.

Multi-hop Commonsense Knowledge Injection Framework for Zero-Shot Commonsense Question Answering

Commonsense question answering (QA) research requires machines to answer questions based on commonsense knowledge. However, this research requires expensive labor costs to annotate data as the basis of research, and models that rely on fine-tuning paradigms only apply to specific tasks, rather than learn a general commonsense reasoning ability. As a more robust method, zero-shot commonsense question answering shows a good prospect. The current zero-shot framework tries to convert triples in commonsense knowledge graphs (KGs) into QA-form samples as the pre-trained data source to incorporate commonsense knowledge into the model. However, this method ignores the multi-hop relationship in the KG, which is also an important central problem in commonsense reasoning. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-hop commonsense knowledge injection framework. Specifically, it explores multi-hop reasoning paradigm in KGs that conform to linguistic logic, and we further propose two multi-hop QA generation methods based on KGs. Then, we utilize contrastive learning to pre-train the model with the synthetic QA dataset to inject multi-hop commonsense knowledge. Extensive experiments on five commonsense question answering benchmarks demonstrate that our framework achieves state-of-art performance.

Microwave electrometry with multi-photon coherence in Rydberg atoms

A scheme for measurement of microwave (MW) electric field is proposed via multi-photon coherence in Rydberg atoms. It is based on the three-photon electromagnetically induced absorption (TPEIA) spectrum. In this process, the multi-photon produces a narrow absorption peak, which has a larger magnitude than the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) peak under the same conditions. The TPEIA peak is sensitive to MW fields, and can be used to measure MW electric field strength. It is interesting to find that the magnitude of TPEIA peaks shows a linear relationship with the MW field strength. The simulation results show that the minimum detectable strength of the MW fields is about 1/10 that based on an common EIT effect, and the probe sensitivity is improved by about 4 times. Furthermore, the MW sensing based on three-photon coherence shows a broad tunability, and the scheme may be useful for designing novel MW sensing devices.

The Conditional Variational Principle for Maps with the Pseudo-orbit Tracing Property

Let $(X,d,f)$ be a topological dynamical system, where $(X,d)$ is a compact metric space and $f:X\to X$ is a continuous map. We define $n$-ordered empirical measure of $x\in X$ by \begin{align*} \mathscr{E}_n(x)=\frac{1}{n}\sum\limits_{i=0}^{n-1}δ_{f^ix}, \end{align*} where $δ_y$ is the Dirac mass at $y$. Denote by $V(x)$ the set of limit measures of the sequence of measures $\mathscr{E}_n(x).$ In this paper, we obtain conditional variational principles for the topological entropy of \begin{align*} Δ_{sub}(I)=\left\{x\in X:V(x)\subset I\right\}, \end{align*} and \begin{align*} Δ_{cap}(I)=\left\{x\in X:V(x)\cap I\neq\emptyset \right\}. \end{align*} in a transitive dynamical system with the pseudo-orbit tracing property, where $I$ is a certain subset of $\mathscr M_{\rm inv}(X,f)$.

Conditional Variational Principle for Historic Set in Some Nonuniformly Hyperbolic Systems

This article is devoted to the study of the historic set, which was introduced by Ruelle, of Birkhoff averges in some nonuniformly hyperbolic systems via Pesin theory. Particularly, we give a conditional variational principle for historic sets. Our results can be applied (i) to the diffeomorphisms on surfaces, (ii) to the nonuniformly hyperbolic diffeomorphisms described by Katok and several other classes of diffeomorphisms derived from Anosov systems.

Conformal invariance on orbifolds and excitations of singularity

We study conformal field theory on two-dimensional orbifolds and show this to be an effective way to analyze physical effects of geometric singularities with angular deficits. They are closely related to boundaries and cross caps. Representatives classes of singularities can be described exactly using generalizations of boundary states. From this we compute correlation functions and derive the spectra of excitations localized at the singularities.

The principle of least action and the geometric basis of D-branes

We analyze thoroughly the boundary conditions allowed in classical non-linear sigma models and derive from first principle the corresponding geometric objects, i.e. D-branes. In addition to giving classical D-branes an intrinsic and geometric foundation, D-branes in nontrivial H flux and D-branes embedded within D-branes are precisely defined. A well known topological condition on D-branes is replaced.

Families of N=2 Strings

In a given 4d spacetime bakcground, one can often construct not one but a family of distinct N=2 string theories. This is due to the multiple ways N=2 superconformal algebra can be embedded in a given worldsheet theory. We formulate the principle of obtaining different physical theories by gauging different embeddings of the same symmetry algebra in the same ``pre-theory.'' We then apply it to N=2 strings and formulate the recipe for finding the associated parameter spaces of gauging. Flat and curved target spaces of both (4,0) and (2,2) signatures are considered. We broadly divide the gauging choices into two classes, denoted by alpha and beta, and show them to be related by T-duality. The distinction between them is formulated topologically and hinges on some unique properties of 4d manifolds. We determine what their parameter spaces of gauging are under certain simplicity ansatz for generic flat spaces (R^4 and its toroidal compactifications) as well as some curved spaces. We briefly discuss the spectra of D-branes for both alpha and beta families.

From Boundaries To Conditions Over Superspace

N=1 and 2 superconformal boundary conditions are shown to be the consequence of a boundary on the worldsheet superspace with positive codimension in the anticommuting subspace. In addition to the well-known boundary conditions, I also find two new infinite series of N=2 boundary states. Their free field realizations are given. A self-contained development of 2d superspace leads to new perspectives on this subject.

Non-Abelian Geometry

Spatial noncommutativity is similar and can even be related to the non-Abelian nature of multiple D-branes. But they have so far seemed independent of each other. Reflecting this decoupling, the algebra of matrix valued fields on noncommutative space is thought to be the simple tensor product of constant matrix algebra and the Moyal-Weyl deformation. We propose scenarios in which the two become intertwined and inseparable. Therefore the usual separation of ordinary or noncommutative space from the internal discrete space responsible for non-Abelian symmetry is really the exceptional case of an unified structure. We call it non-Abelian geometry. This general structure emerges when multiple D-branes are configured suitably in a flat but varying B field background, or in the presence of non-Abelian gauge field background. It can also occur in connection with Taub-NUT geometry. We compute the deformed product of matrix valued functions using the lattice string quantum mechanical model developed earlier. The result is a new type of associative algebra defining non-Abelian geometry. Possible supergravity dual is also discussed.

A Note On Space Noncommutativity

We consider a two-point spatial lattice approximation to an open string moving in a flat background with B field. It gives a constrained dipole system under the influence of a vector potential. Solving and quantizing this system recover all the essential features of a noncommutative space. In particular, open string interactions induce a canonical product structure on the Hilbert space of the dipole system. It coincides with the usual star product, even though the position operators can be thought of as mutually commuting. Modification of gauge transformations in this noncommutative space also naturally emerges.

M Theory on AdS_p x S^{11-p} and Superconformal Field Theories

We study the large N limit of the interacting superconformal field theories associated with N M5 branes or M2 branes using the recently proposed relation between these theories and M theory on AdS spaces. We first analyze the spectrum of chiral operators of the 6d (0,2) theory associated with M5 branes in flat space, and find full agreement with earlier results obtained using its DLCQ description as quantum mechanics on a moduli space of instantons. We then perform a similar analysis for the D_N type 6d (0,2) theories associated with M5 branes at an R^5/Z_2 singularity, and for the 3d N=8 superconformal field theories associated with M2 branes in flat space and at an R^8/Z_2 singularity respectively. Little is known about these three theories, and our study yields for the first time their spectrum of chiral operators (in the large N limit).
