The Mini-SiTian Array: Optical design

Time-domain astronomy is one of the most important areas. Large sky area, deep-field, and short timescale are the priority of time-domain observations. SiTian is an ambitious ground-based project processing all sky optical monitoring, aiming for sky-survey timescale of less than 1 day. It is developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an integrated network of dozens of 1-m-class telescopes deployed worldwide. The Mini-SiTian Telescope Array is carried out for demonstrations on optical design, group scheduling, and software pipeline developments, to overcome the high technical and financial difficulties of SiTian project. One array contains three 300 mm F/3 telescope, with FOV of 5 degrees over 400-1000 nm wavelength range. The Mini-SiTian Telescope Array is now under commissioning in Xinglong Observatory, and a perfect platform for technical research and educational purposes.

Quark correlation functions at three-loop order and extraction of splitting functions

We present the first complete next-to-next-to-next-to-leading-order calculation of the matching coefficients that link unpolarized flavor non-singlet parton distribution functions with lattice QCD computable correlation functions. By using this high-order result, we notice a reduction in theoretical uncertainties compared to relying solely on previously known lower-order matching coefficients. Furthermore, based on this result we have extracted the three-loop unpolarized flavor non-singlet splitting function, which is in agreement with the state-of-the-art result. Due to the simplicity of our method, it has the potential to advance the calculation of splitting functions to the desired four-loop order.

Active self-adaptive metamaterial plates for flexural wave control

In this paper, a novel design concept for active self-adaptive metamaterial (ASAMM) plates is proposed based on an active self-adaptive (ASA) control strategy guided by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. The ASAMM plates consist of an elastic base plate and two periodic arrays of piezoelectric patches. The periodic piezoelectric patches place on the bottom plate surface act as sensors, while the other ones attached on the top plate surfaces act as actuators. A simplified plate model is established by the Hamilton principle. By assuming a uniform or constant plate thickness, the plane wave expansion (PWE) method is adopted to calculate the band structures. The finite element method (FEM) using 2D plate and 3D solid elements is also used to calculate the band structures and the transmission spectra or frequency responses. The conventional displacement, velocity and acceleration feedback control methods are introduced and analyzed. Then, a novel ASA control strategy based on combining the displacement and acceleration feedback control methods and guided by the PSO technique is developed. Numerical results will be presented and discussed to show that the proposed ASAMM plates can automatically and intelligently evolve different feedback control schemes to adapt to different stimulations on demand. Compared to the conventional metamaterial (MM) plates, the proposed ASAMM plates exhibit improved and enhanced band-gap characteristics and suppression performance for flexural waves at frequencies outside the band-gaps

Extraction of Next-to-Next-to-Leading-Order PDFs from Lattice QCD Calculations

We present for the first time complete next-to-next-to-leading-order coefficient functions to match flavor non-singlet quark correlation functions in position space, which are calculable in lattice QCD, to parton distribution functions (PDFs). Using PDFs extracted from experimental data and our calculated matching coefficients, we predict valence-quark correlation functions that can be confronted by lattice QCD calculations. The uncertainty of our predictions is greatly reduced with higher order matching coefficients. By performing Fourier transformation, we also obtain matching coefficients for corresponding quasi-PDFs and pseudo-PDFs. Our method of calculations can be readily generalized to evaluate the matching coefficients for sea-quark and gluon correlation functions, putting the program to extract partonic structure of hadrons from lattice QCD calculations to be comparable with and complementary to that from experimental measurements.

Thermal wave crystals based on dual-phase-lag model

Thermal wave crystals based on the dual-phase-lag model are investigated in this paper by both theoretical analysis and numerical simulation to control the non-Fourier heat conduction process. The transfer matrix method is used to calculate the complex dispersion curves. The temperature field is calculated by the finite difference time domain method. The results show that thermal band-gaps exist due to the Bragg-scattering. The key parameters characterizing the band-gaps are analyzed. The thermal wave impedance and mid-gap frequencies are introduced to predict band-gaps theoretically. Our results show that the larger the difference in the thermal wave impedances is, the wider of the thermal band-gaps will be. This study demonstrates a type of the thermal metamaterials which have potential innovative applications such as thermal imagining, thermal diodes and thermal waveguides for energy transmission.

Multiplicative renormalizability of quasi-parton operators

Extracting parton distribution functions (PDFs) from lattice QCD calculation of quasi-PDFs has been actively pursued in recent years. We extend our proof of the multiplicative renormalizability of quasi-quark operators in Ref. [1] to quasi-gluon operators, and demonstrated that quasi-gluon operators could be multiplicatively renormalized to all orders in perturbation theory, without mixing with other operators. We find that using a gauge-invariant UV regulator is essential for achieving this proof. With the multiplicative renormalizability of both quasi-quark and quasi-gluon operators, and QCD collinear factorization of hadronic matrix elements of there operators into PDFs, extracting PDFs from lattice QCD calculated hadronic matrix elements of quasi-parton operators could have a solid theoretical foundation.

Heat Reduction by Thermal Wave Crystals

Non-Fourier heat conduction models assume wave-like behavior does exist in the heat conduction process. Based on this wave-like behavior, thermal conduction controlled in a one-dimensional periodical structure, named thermal wave crystal, has been demonstrated through both theoretical analysis and numerical simulation based on the Cattaneo-Vernotte (CV) heat-conduction model. The transfer matrix method and Bloch analysis have been applied to calculate the band structure of thermal wave propagating in thermal wave crystals. And the temperature responses are obtained by using the FDTD method, which is also used to verify the correctness of the band structure. The results show that band gaps do exist due to the Bragg scattering. Then, a calculation method to predict the mid-gap frequency of band gaps for the thermal wave crystal has been introduced in this Letter. And key parameters determining the band gaps have been discussed. This study shows the potential applications of this novel mechanism, such as thermal imagining, thermal diodes and thermal waveguides.
