MentalHospital: A Virtual Environment for Evaluating Psychiatric Clinical Encounters

Large language models (LLMs) have shown strong performance on isolated psychiatric tasks, including dialogue, diagnosis, and treatment planning, yet existing benchmarks rarely simulate complete psychiatric clinical encounters. We introduce $\textbf{MentalHospital}$, a virtual evaluation environment for LLM-based psychiatric clinical encounters. MentalHospital instantiates the Subjective Interviewing, Objective Examination, Diagnostic Assessment, and Treatment Planning (S.O.A.P.) workflow, using skill-augmented standardized patients constructed from 1,193 de-identified psychiatric electronic health record (EHR) cases spanning all major ICD-11 categories and 76 disorders. Each encounter is assessed through a dual-track protocol that combines objective comparison against EHR-derived references with subjective assessment of clinical process quality. To scale specialist judgment, we develop $\textbf{MentalEval}$, five domain-specific evaluators covering communication empathy, interviewing professionalism, clinical-note quality, diagnostic rigor, and treatment appropriateness, trained with rubric-grounded SFT and expert-guided DPO. Survey responses from 22 clinicians support MentalHospital's clinical fidelity (3.88/5), while MentalEval achieves strong expert alignment with an average QWK of 0.944. Benchmarking shows that even the strongest LLM trails clinicians by 37.28 percentage points in objective psychiatric competence, with mental status assessment as a key bottleneck.

Enhancing GPU-acceleration in the Python-based Simulations of Chemistry Framework

We describe our contribution as industrial stakeholders to the existing open-source GPU4PySCF project (https: //github.com/pyscf/gpu4pyscf), a GPU-accelerated Python quantum chemistry package. We have integrated GPU acceleration into other PySCF functionality including Density Functional Theory (DFT), geometry optimization, frequency analysis, solvent models, and density fitting technique. Through these contributions, GPU4PySCF v1.0 can now be regarded as a fully functional and industrially relevant platform which we demonstrate in this work through a range of tests. When performing DFT calculations on modern GPU platforms, GPU4PySCF delivers 30 times speedup over a 32-core CPU node, resulting in approximately 90% cost savings for most DFT tasks. The performance advantages and productivity improvements have been found in multiple industrial applications, such as generating potential energy surfaces, analyzing molecular properties, calculating solvation free energy, identifying chemical reactions in lithium-ion batteries, and accelerating neural-network methods. With the improved design that makes it easy to integrate with the Python and PySCF ecosystem, GPU4PySCF is natural choice that we can now recommend for many industrial quantum chemistry applications.

A cluster identification framework illustrated by a filtering model for earthquake occurrences

A general dynamical cluster identification framework including both modeling and computation is developed. The earthquake declustering problem is studied to demonstrate how this framework applies. A stochastic model is proposed for earthquake occurrences that considers the sequence of occurrences as composed of two parts: earthquake clusters and single earthquakes. We suggest that earthquake clusters contain a ``mother quake'' and her ``offspring.'' Applying the filtering techniques, we use the solution of filtering equations as criteria for declustering. A procedure for calculating maximum likelihood estimations (MLE's) and the most likely cluster sequence is also presented.
