Arbitrage-free Data Pricing

We study optimal pricing of versioned data products when buyers can combine multiple purchases. A monopoly seller offers a menu of data products, and a buyer's value for data is the improvement to their expected utility in a Bayesian decision problem. Since a buyer may purchase any finite bundle of products, including repeated copies of the same product, versioning creates arbitrage opportunities: a bundle of cheaper products may be more valuable than a product with a higher price. We formulate the arbitrage-free data selling problem which has infinite arbitrage-free constraints in general and possibly infinite state space, and prove its computational intractability: the problem admits no PTAS even for instances in which the state space is finite, and the problem admits no polynomial time constant factor approximation for succinct high-dimensional instances. On the positive side, when the numbers of buyer types and actions are constant, we give an additive FPTAS that handles possibly infinite state spaces and infinitely many arbitrage-free constraints, and empirically validate the algorithm on realistic synthetic data trading scenarios. We also analyze the posted pricing algorithm for selling only complete information and prove a tight approximation factor. We further identify a threshold utility regime in which arbitrage-freeness reduces to Blackwell dominance, which unifies known arbitrage-free conditions for dataset query and machine learning model pricing. Under this regime, we design efficient algorithms for several structured data menus common in practice.

DeepFAN, a transformer-based deep learning model for human-artificial intelligence collaborative assessment of incidental pulmonary nodules in CT scans: a multi-reader, multi-case trial

The widespread adoption of CT has notably increased the number of detected lung nodules. However, current deep learning methods for classifying benign and malignant nodules often fail to comprehensively integrate global and local features, and most of them have not been validated through clinical trials. To address this, we developed DeepFAN, a transformer-based model trained on over 10K pathology-confirmed nodules and further conducted a multi-reader, multi-case clinical trial to evaluate its efficacy in assisting junior radiologists. DeepFAN achieved diagnostic area under the curve (AUC) of 0.939 (95% CI 0.930-0.948) on an internal test set and 0.954 (95% CI 0.934-0.973) on the clinical trial dataset involving 400 cases across three independent medical institutions. Explainability analysis indicated higher contributions from global than local features. Twelve readers' average performance significantly improved by 10.9% (95% CI 8.3%-13.5%) in AUC, 10.0% (95% CI 8.9%-11.1%) in accuracy, 7.6% (95% CI 6.1%-9.2%) in sensitivity, and 12.6% (95% CI 10.9%-14.3%) in specificity (P<0.001 for all). Nodule-level inter-reader diagnostic consistency improved from fair to moderate (overall k: 0.313 vs. 0.421; P=0.019). In conclusion, DeepFAN effectively assisted junior radiologists and may help homogenize diagnostic quality and reduce unnecessary follow-up of indeterminate pulmonary nodules. Sidelink Positioning: Standardization Advancements, Challenges and Opportunities

With the integration of cellular networks in vertical industries that demand precise location information, such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X), public safety, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), positioning has become an imperative component for future wireless networks. By exploiting a wider spectrum, multiple antennas and flexible architectures, cellular positioning achieves ever-increasing positioning accuracy. Still, it faces fundamental performance degradation when the distance between user equipment (UE) and the base station (BS) is large or in non-line-of-sight (NLoS) scenarios. To this end, the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) Rel-18 proposes to standardize sidelink (SL) positioning, which provides unique opportunities to extend the positioning coverage via direct positioning signaling between UEs. Despite the standardization advancements, the capability of SL positioning is controversial, especially how much spectrum is required to achieve the positioning accuracy defined in 3GPP. To this end, this article summarizes the latest standardization advancements of 3GPP on SL positioning comprehensively, covering a) network architecture; b) positioning types; and c) performance requirements. The capability of SL positioning using various positioning methods under different imperfect factors is evaluated and discussed in-depth. Finally, according to the evolution of SL in 3GPP Rel-19, we discuss the possible research directions and challenges of SL positioning.

Comprehensive Implementation of TextCNN for Enhanced Collaboration between Natural Language Processing and System Recommendation

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is an important branch of artificial intelligence that studies how to enable computers to understand, process, and generate human language. Text classification is a fundamental task in NLP, which aims to classify text into different predefined categories. Text classification is the most basic and classic task in natural language processing, and most of the tasks in natural language processing can be regarded as classification tasks. In recent years, deep learning has achieved great success in many research fields, and today, it has also become a standard technology in the field of NLP, which is widely integrated into text classification tasks. Unlike numbers and images, text processing emphasizes fine-grained processing ability. Traditional text classification methods generally require preprocessing the input model's text data. Additionally, they also need to obtain good sample features through manual annotation and then use classical machine learning algorithms for classification. Therefore, this paper analyzes the application status of deep learning in the three core tasks of NLP (including text representation, word order modeling, and knowledge representation). This content explores the improvement and synergy achieved through natural language processing in the context of text classification, while also taking into account the challenges posed by adversarial techniques in text generation, text classification, and semantic parsing. An empirical study on text classification tasks demonstrates the effectiveness of interactive integration training, particularly in conjunction with TextCNN, highlighting the significance of these advancements in text classification augmentation and enhancement.

Parallel Medical Imaging for Intelligent Medical Image Analysis: Concepts, Methods, and Applications

There has been much progress in data-driven artificial intelligence technology for medical image analysis in the last decades. However, it still remains challenging due to its distinctive complexity of acquiring and annotating image data, extracting medical domain knowledge, and explaining the diagnostic decision for medical image analysis. In this paper, we propose a data-knowledge-driven framework termed as Parallel Medical Imaging (PMI) for intelligent medical image analysis based on the methodology of interactive ACP-based parallel intelligence. In the PMI framework, computational experiments with predictive learning in a data-driven way are conducted to extract medical knowledge for diagnostic decision support. Artificial imaging systems are introduced to select and prescriptively generate medical image data in a knowledge-driven way to utilize medical domain knowledge. Through the closed-loop optimization based on parallel execution, our proposed PMI framework can boost the generalization ability and alleviate the limitation of medical interpretation for diagnostic decisions. Furthermore, we illustrate the preliminary implementation of PMI method through the case studies of mammogram analysis and skin lesion image analysis. Experimental results on several public medical image datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed PMI.

Fe3O4@astragalus polysaccharide core-shell nanoparticles for iron deficiency anemia therapy and magnetic resonance imaging in vivo

Fe3O4@astragalus polysaccharide core-shell nanoparticles (Fe3O4@APS NPs) were demonstrated to be an efficient therapeutic drug for treating iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in vivo. The Fe3O4@APS NPs have been synthesized using a two steps approach involving hydrothermal synthesis and subsequent esterification. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy studies show that APS are attached on the surfaces of the highly monodisperse Fe3O4 NPs. Dynamic light scatting (DLS) and magnetic characterizations reveal that the Fe3O4@APS NPs have outstanding water solubility and stability. Cytotoxicity assessment using Hela cells and pathological tests in mice demonstrate their good biocompatibility and low toxicity. The IDA treatment in rats shows that they have efficient therapeutic effect, which is contributed to both the iron element supplement from Fe3O4 and the APS-stimulated hematopoietic cell generation. Moreover, the Fe3O4@APS NPs are superparamagnetic and thus able to be used for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This study has demonstrated the potential of nanocomposites involving purified natural products from Chinese herb medicine for biomedical applications.
