A verifiable quantum key agreement protocol based on six-qubit cluster states

Quantum key agreement requires all participants to recover the shared key together, so it is crucial to resist the participant attack. In this paper, we propose a verifiable multi-party quantum key agreement protocol based on the six-qubit cluster states. A verifiable distributor who preserves some subsequences of the six-qubit cluster states is introduced into this protocol, thus the participants can not obtain the shared key in advance. Besides, the correctness and simultaneity of the shared key are guaranteed by the trusted design combiner and homomorphic hash function. Furthermore, the security analysis shows that the new protocol can resist the external and internal attacks.

Numerical study on thermal transpiration flows through a rectangular channel

Gaseous thermal transpiration flows through a rectangular micro-channel are simulated by the direct simulation BGK (DSBGK) method. These flows are rarefied, within the slip and transitional flow regimes, which are beyond many traditional computational fluid dynamic simulation schemes, such as those based on the continuum flow assumption. The flows are very slow and thus many traditional particle simulation methods suffer large statistical noises. The adopted method is a combination of particle and gas kinetic methods and it can simulate micro-flows properly. The simulation results of mass flow rates have excellent agreement with experimental measurements. In another case of 2D channel, the DSBGK comparisons with the DSMC result and the solution of Shakhov equation are also in very good agreement. Another finding from this study is that numerical simulations by including two reservoirs at the channel ends lead to appreciable differences in simulation results of velocity and pressure distributions within the micro-channel. This is due to the inhaling and exhaling effects of reservoirs at the channel ends. Even though excluding those reservoirs may accelerate the simulations significantly by using a single channel in simulations, special attentions are needed because this treatment may over-simplify the problem, and some procedures and results may be questionable. One example is to determine the surface momentum accommodation coefficient by using analytical solution of the mass flow rate obtained in a single-channel problem without the confinement effect of reservoirs at the two ends.

General synthetic iteration scheme for non-linear gas kinetic simulation of multi-scale rarefied gas flows

The general synthetic iteration scheme (GSIS) is extended to find the steady-state solution of nonlinear gas kinetic equation, removing the long-standing problems of slow convergence and requirement of ultra-fine grids in near-continuum flows. The key ingredients of GSIS are that the gas kinetic equation and macroscopic synthetic equations are tightly coupled, and the constitutive relations in macroscopic synthetic equations explicitly contain Newton's law of shear stress and Fourier's law of heat conduction. The higher-order constitutive relations describing rarefaction effects are calculated from the velocity distribution function, however, their constructions are simpler than our previous work (Su et al. Journal of Computational Physics 407 (2020) 109245) for linearized gas kinetic equations. On the other hand, solutions of macroscopic synthetic equations are used to inform the evolution of gas kinetic equation at the next iteration step. A rigorous linear Fourier stability analysis in periodic system shows that the error decay rate of GSIS can be smaller than 0.5, which means that the deviation to steady-state solution can be reduced by 3 orders of magnitude in 10 iterations. Other important advantages of the GSIS are (i) it does not rely on the specific form of Boltzmann collision operator and (ii) it can be solved by sophisticated techniques in computational fluid dynamics, making it amenable to large scale engineering applications. In this paper, the efficiency and accuracy of GSIS is demonstrated by a number of canonical test cases in rarefied gas dynamics.

A Verifiable Quantum Secret Sharing Scheme Based on a Single Qubit

To detect frauds from some internal participants or external attackers, some verifiable threshold quantum secret sharing schemes have been proposed. In this paper, we present a new verifiable threshold structure based on a single qubit using bivariate polynomial. First, Alice chooses an asymmetric bivariate polynomial and sends a pair of values from this polynomial to each participant. Then Alice and participants implement in sequence unitary transformation on the $d$-dimensional quantum state based on unbiased bases, where those unitary transformations are contacted by this polynomial. Finally, security analysis shows that the proposed scheme can detect the fraud from external and internal attacks compared with the exiting schemes and is comparable to the recent schemes.

A quantum secret sharing scheme with verifiable function

In the $\left( {t,n} \right)$ threshold quantum secret sharing scheme, it is difficult to ensure that internal participants are honest. In this paper, a verifiable $\left( {t,n} \right)$ threshold quantum secret sharing scheme is designed combined with classical secret sharing scheme. First of all, the distributor uses the asymmetric binary polynomials to generate the shares and sends them to each participant. Secondly, the distributor sends the initial quantum state with the secret to the first participant, and each participant performs unitary operation that using the mutually unbiased bases on the obtained $d$ dimension single bit quantum state ($d$ is a large odd prime number). In this process, distributor can randomly check the participants, and find out the internal fraudsters by unitary inverse operation gradually upward. Then the secret is reconstructed after all other participants simultaneously public transmission. Security analysis show that this scheme can resist both external and internal attacks.

Quantum security computation on shared secrets

Ouyang et al. proposed an $(n,n)$ threshold quantum secret sharing scheme, where the number of participants is limited to $n=4k+1,k\in Z^+$, and the security evaluation of the scheme was carried out accordingly. In this paper, we propose an $(n,n)$ threshold quantum secret sharing scheme for the number of participants $n$ in any case ( $n\in Z^+$ ). The scheme is based on a quantum circuit, which consists of Clifford group gates and Toffoli gate. We study the properties of the quantum circuit in this paper and use the quantum circuit to analyze the security of the scheme for dishonest participants.

A secret sharing scheme on p^2 -dimensional quantum system

In this paper, we give the mutually unbiased bases on the p^2 -dimensional quantum system where p is an odd prime number, and construct the corresponding unitary transformation based on the properties of these mutually unbiased bases. Then, we construct a (N,N) threshold secret sharing scheme using unitary transformation between these mutually unbiased bases, and analyze the scheme's security by several ways, for example, intercept-and-resend attack, entangle-and-measure attack, Trojan horse attack, and so on. Using our method, we construct a single-particle quantum protocol involving only one qudit, and the method shows much more scalability than other schemes.

A multi-level parallel solver for rarefied gas flows in porous media

A high-performance gas kinetic solver using multi-level parallelization is developed to enable pore-scale simulations of rarefied flows in porous media. The Boltzmann model equation is solved by the discrete velocity method with an iterative scheme. The multi-level MPI/OpenMP parallelization is implemented with the aim to efficiently utilise the computational resources to allow direct simulation of rarefied gas flows in porous media based on digital rock images for the first time. The multi-level parallel approach is analyzed in details confirming its better performance than the commonly-used MPI processing alone for an iterative scheme. With high communication efficiency and appropriate load balancing among CPU processes, parallel efficiency of 94% is achieved for 1536 cores in the 2D simulations, and 81% for 12288 cores in the 3D simulations. While decomposition in the spatial space does not affect the simulation results, one additional benefit of this approach is that the number of subdomains can be kept minimal to avoid deterioration of the convergence rate of the iteration process. This multi-level parallel approach can be readily extended to solve other Boltzmann model equations.

Analytical Solution to the Transient Beam Loading Effects of the Superconducting Cavity

Transient beam loading effect is one of the key issues in any superconducting accelerators, which needs to be carefully investigated. The core problem in the analysis is to obtain the time evolution of cavity voltage under the transient beam loading. To simplify the problem, the second order ordinary differential equation describing the behavior of the cavity voltage is intuitively simplified to a first order one, with the aid of the two critical approximations lacking the proof for their validity. In this paper, the validity is examined mathematically in some specific cases, resulting in a criterion for the simplification. It's popular to solve the approximated equation for the cavity voltage numerically, while this paper shows that it can also be solved analytically under the step function approximation for the driven term. With the analytical solution to the cavity voltage, the transient reflected power from the cavity and the energy gain of the central particle in the bunch can also be calculated analytically. The validity of the step function approximation for the driven term is examined by direct evaluations. After that, the analytical results are compared with the numerical ones.

Quantum Access Structure and Secret Sharing

In this paper we define a kind of decomposition for a quantum access structure. We propose a conception of minimal maximal quantum access structure and obtain a sufficient and necessary condition for minimal maximal quantum access structure, which shows the relationship between the number of minimal authorized sets and that of the players. Moreover, we investigate the construction of efficient quantum secret schemes by using these techniques, a decomposition and minimal maximal quantum access structure. A major advantage of these techniques is that it allows us to construct a method to realize a general quantum access structure. For these quantum access structures, we present two quantum secret schemes via the idea of concatenation or a decomposition of a quantum access structure. As a consequence, the application of these techniques allow us to save more quantum shares and reduce more cost than the existing scheme.

A Generalized Information Theoretical Model for Quantum Secret Sharing

An information theoretical model for quantum secret sharing was introduced by A. C. A. Nascimento et al.[Quantum Inf. Comput. Vol.5,1,205,68-79(2003)], which was analyzed by quantum information theory. In this paper, we analyze this information theoretical model using the properties of the quantum access structure. By the analysis we propose a generalized model definition for the quantum secret sharing schemes. In our model, there are more quantum access structures which can be realized by our generalized quantum secret sharing schemes than those of the previous one. In addition, we also analyse two kinds of important quantum access structures to illustrate the existence and rationality of the generalized quantum secret sharing schemes and consider the security of the scheme by simple examples.

MOMENT: a muon-decay medium-baseline neutrino beam facility

Neutrino beam with about 300 MeV in energy, high-flux and medium baseline is considered a rational choice for measuring CP violation before the more powerful Neutrino Factory will be built. Following this concept, a unique neutrino beam facility based on muon-decayed neutrinos is proposed. The facility adopts a continuous-wave proton linac of 1.5 GeV and 10 mA as the proton driver, which can deliver an extremely high beam power of 15 MW. Instead of pion-decayed neutrinos, unprecedentedly intense muon-decayed neutrinos are used for better background discrimination. The schematic design for the facility is presented here, including the proton driver, the assembly of a mercury-jet target and capture superconducting solenoids, a pion/muon beam transport line, a long muon decay channel of about 600 m and the detector concept. The physics prospects and the technical challenges are also discussed.

Physics design for the C-ADS main linac basing on two different injector design schemes

The China ADS (C-ADS) project is proposed to build a 1000 MW Accelerator Driven sub-critical System around 2032. The accelerator will work in CW mode with 10 mA in beam current and 1.5 GeV in final beam energy. The linac is composed of two major sections: the injector section and the main linac section. There are two different schemes for the injector section. The Injector-I scheme is based on a 325-MHz RFQ and superconducting spoke cavities of same RF frequency and the Injector-II scheme is based on a 162.5-MHz RFQ and superconducting HWR cavities of same frequency. The main linac design will be different for different injector choice. The two different designs for the main linac have been studied according to the beam characteristics from the different injector schemes.
