Semi-inclusive decays of $B$ meson into a dark anti-baryon and baryons

Using the recently developed $B$-Mesogenesis scenario, we studied the semi-inclusive decays of $B$ meson into a dark anti-baryon $ψ$ plus any possible states $X$ containing $u/c$ and $d/s$ quarks with unit baryon number. The two types of effective Lagrangians proposed by the scenario are both considered in the study. The semi-inclusive decay branching fractions of $B\to X ψ$ are calculated by the method of heavy quark expansion, where the non-perturbative contributions from the matrix elements of dimension-5 operators are included. We obtained the branching fractions as functions of the dark anti-baryon mass. Using the experimental upper limits of the branching fractions, we presented the constraints of the coupling constants in the $B$-Mesogenesis scenario.

Heavy flavor conserved semi-leptonic decay of $B_s$ in the covariant light-front approach

We study the heavy flavor conserved semi-leptonic decay $B_s\to B\ellν$ in the covariant light front approach. The covariant light front quark model is used to calculate the transition form factors of $B_s\to B^{(*)}$ as well as $D_s\to D$, which are consistent with the leading power predictions from the heavy quark symmetry. The angular distribution analysis on the $B_s\to B^{(*)}l\barν$ decay is performed by investigating the forward-backward asymmetry of the lepton. We also study the angular distribution of $B_{s}\to B^{*}(\to B γ)l\barν$ decay both through the lepton forward-backward asymmetry and the azimuth angle. The branching fractions of $B_s\to Bl\barν$ and $B_s\to B^{*}l\barν$ are at the order $10^{-8}$ and $10^{-9}$, respectively. The number of $B_s\to B l\barν$ events is estimated to be $1.76$. The branching fraction of $B_{s}\to B^{*}(\to B γ)l\barν$ is at the order $10^{-11}$, which is calculated by introducing Breit-Wigner distribution for the intermediate $B^*$.

Analysis of the interpolating currents of baryons: anomalous dimension

The anomalous dimensions for the interpolating currents of baryons are indispensable inputs in a serious QCD analysis of baryon. However, the results in the literature are vague. In view of this, in this work, we investigate the one-loop anomalous dimensions for some interpolating currents such as those of $Λ_{Q}$ and proton. Under the requirement of precise testing the Standard Model, this study is essential and significant for the QCD analysis in the future.

Baryonic heavy-to-light form factors induced by tensor current in light-front approach

Inspired by the recent anomalies on the lepton flavor universalities, we present a investigation of baryonic form factors induced by heavy-to-light tensor currents. With the light-front quark model, we calculate the tensor form factors and the momentum-distributions are accessed with two parametrization forms. Numerical results for the form factors at $q^2=0$ are derived and parameters in $q^2$ distributions are obtained through extrapolation. Our results are helpful for the analysis of new physics contributions in the heavy-to-light transition.

Electroweak precision tests for triplet scalars

Electroweak precision observables are fundamentally important for testing the standard model (SM) or its extensions. The influences to observables from new physics within the electroweak sector can be expressed in terms of oblique parameters S, T, U. The recently reported W mass excess anomaly by CDF modifies these parameters in a significant way. By performing the global fit with the CDF new W mass measurement data, we obtain $S=0.03 \pm 0.03$, $T=0.06 \pm 0.02$ and $U=0.16 \pm 0.03$ (or $S=0.14 \pm 0.03$, $T=0.24 \pm 0.02$ with $U=0$) which is significantly away from zero as SM would predict. The CDF excess strongly indicates the need of new physics beyond SM. We carry out a global fit to study the influence of two different cases of simple extensions by a hyper-charge $Y=1$ triplet scalar $Δ$ (corresponding to the type-II seesaw model) and a $Y=0$ real triplet scalar $Σ$ on electroweak precision tests to determine parameter space in these models to solve the W mass anomaly and discuss the implications. We find that these triplets can affect the oblique parameters significantly at the tree and loop levels.

Weak radiative decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΣ^{+}γ$ using light-cone sum rules

We calculate the decay width of the $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΣ^{+}γ$ using light-cone sum rules. For the initial quark radiation an effective Hamiltonian is constructed, where the internal quark line shrinks to a point. The final quark radiation is studied within the full theory. The leading twist light-cone distribution amplitudes of the $Σ^+$ serve as the non-perturbative input for the sum rules calculation, and the perturbative kernel is calculated at leading order. The branching fraction we obtain is ${\cal B}(Λ_{c}^{+}\toΣ^{+}γ)=1.03\pm 0.36 \times 10^{-4}$, which is below the recent upper limit $<2.6 \times 10^{-4}$ given by the Belle collaboration.

Angular distributions for $Λ_b\to Λ^*_J (pK^-)J/ψ$ Decays

We carry out an analysis of the multibody decay cascade $Λ_b\to Λ^*_J J/ψ\to pK^- J/ψ$ with the $ Λ^*_J$ resonance including $Λ^*_{1520},Λ^*_{1600}$, and $Λ^*_{1800}$, and $J/ψ$ reconstructed by the lepton pair final state. Using the helicity amplitude technique, we derive a compact form for the angular distributions for the decay chain, from which one can extract various one-dimensional distributions. Using the $Λ_b\to Λ_J^*$ form factors from lattice QCD and quark model, we calculate the differential and integrated partial widths. Decay branching fractions are found as $\mathcal{B}(Λ_b\to Λ^*_J( pK)J/ψ(\ell^+\ell^-))=(1.35\pm0.28)\times 10^{-5}$. In addition, we also explore forward-backward asymmetry, and various polarizations. Results in this work will serve a calibration for the study of $b\to s \ell^+\ell^-$ decays in $Λ_b$ decays in future and provide useful information towards the understanding of the properties of the $Λ_J^*$ baryons.

Light quark decays of doubly heavy baryons in light front approach

We explore the semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons $(Ω_{cc}^ {(*) +}, Ω_{bb}^ {(*)0}, Ω_{bc}^ {(*) -}, Ω_{bc}^ {\prime 0}) $ induced by the $s\to u$ transition. Hadronic form factors are parametrized by transition matrix elements and are calculated in the light front quark model. With the form factors, we make use of helicity amplitudes and analyze semileptonic and nonleptonic decay modes of doubly heavy baryons. Benchmark results for partial decay widths, branching fractions, forward-backward asymmetries and other phenomenological observables are derived. We find that typical branching fractions for semileptonic decays into $\ell\barν$ are at the order $10^ {-7}-10^ {-8} $ and the ones for nonleptonic decays are at the order $10^ {-5} $, which are likely detectable such as in LHCb experiment. With the potential data accumulated in future, our results may help to shape our understanding of the decay mechanism in the presence of two heavy quarks.

Dark photon kinetic mixing effects for the CDF W-mass measurement

A new $U(1)_X$ gauge boson $X$ primarily interacting with a dark sector can have renormalizable kinetic mixing with the standard model (SM) $U(1)_Y$ gauge boson $Y$. This mixing besides introduces interactions of dark photon and dark sector with SM particles, it also modifies interactions among SM particles. The modified interactions can be casted into the oblique $S$, $T$ and $U$ parameters. We find that with the dark photon mass larger than the $Z$ boson mass, the kinetic mixing effects can reduce the tension of the W mass excess problem reported recently by CDF from $7σ$ deviation to within $3 σ$ compared with theory prediction. If there is non-abelian kinetic mixing between $U(1)_X$ and $SU(2)_L$ gauge bosons, in simple renormalizable models of this type a triplet Higgs is required to generate the mixing. We find that this triplet with a vacuum expectation value of order 5 GeV can naturally explain the W mass excess.

Weak decays of triply heavy baryons in light front approach

We analyze weak decays of triply heavy baryon $Ω_{ccc}^{++}$ and calculate the form factors for $Ω_{ccc}^{++}\to Ξ_{cc}^{++}/Ω_{cc}^+$ transitions in a light front quark model. The momentum distributions in form factors are accessed via the pole-model parametrization. Using the results for form factors, we predict decay branching fractions for semi-leptonic decays, and obtain $\mathcal{B}(Ω_{ccc}^{++}\toΞ_{cc}^+e^+ν_e)=0.08\%$, $\mathcal{B}(Ω_{ccc}^{++}\toΩ_{cc}^+e^+ν_e)=1.23\%$. Forward-backward asymmetry and angular distributions are then investigated in this work. We also estimate branching fractions for a few color-allowed processes and find that the $Ω_{ccc}^{++}\toΩ_{cc}^+π^+$ has a sizable branching fraction: $\mathcal{B}(Ω_{ccc}^{++}\toΩ_{cc}^+π^+)=1.82\%$. We point out that the $Ω_{ccc}^{++}\toΩ_{cc}^+π^+$ is a golden channel for the discovery of the $Ω_{ccc}^{++}$. This analysis can provide a useful reference for future experimental search in future.

A global analysis of charmless two body hadronic decays for anti-triplet charmed baryons

Recently Belle collaboration reported new measurements for the branching fractions with the first observing two processes of $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΛK^0_S)$, $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΣ^0 K^0_S)$ and updating data for $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΣ^+ K^-)$. Combined with other known data on charmless two body decays of anti-triplet charmed baryons, a lot of information can be derived with the assistance of $SU(3)$ flavour symmetry. Using $SU(3)$ relations between different decay modes, we can give some predictions based on the new measurements which can be tested with the high luminosity experiments in the future. More interestingly, we find that a global fit is now possible with the addition of new Belle data. In general, there are 18 complex $SU(3)$ invariant amplitudes. We find that a scenario of all amplitudes being real can fit the data well with a $χ^2/d.o.f$ only $0.773$. This indicates that neglecting the phases of the amplitudes is a reasonable assumption. When more data become available, one may be able to get more information for phases in the amplitudes. We give several comments on the feature of global fit regarding the branching fractions, relations between different decays, and decays involving $K^0$ and $\bar K^0$. Many of the unknown branching fractions and polarization asymmetry parameters of anti-triplet charmed baryon for charmless two body decays are predicted to be accessible by experiments at Belle, Belle~II, BES-III, and LHCb. The validity of $SU(3)$ for charmless two body hadronic decays can be more accurately tested.

QCD sum rules analysis of weak decays of doubly heavy baryons: the $b\to c$ processes

A comprehensive study of $b\to c$ weak decays of doubly heavy baryons is presented in this paper. The transition form factors as well as the pole residues of the initial and final states are respectively obtained by investigating the three-point and two-point correlation functions in QCD sum rules. Contributions from up to dimension-6 operators are respectively considered for the two-point and three-point correlation functions. The obtained form factors are then applied to a phenomenological analysis of semi-leptonic decays.

SU(3) symmetry and its breaking effects in semileptonic heavy baryon decays

We employ the flavor SU(3) symmetry to analyze semileptonic decays of anti-triplet charmed baryons ($Λ^{+}_{c},Ξ_{c}^{+,0}$) and find that the experimental data on ${\cal B}(Λ_c\toΛ\ell^+ν_{\ell})$ implies $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-e^+ν_{e})=(4.10\pm0.46)\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-μ^+ν_μ)= (3.98\pm0.57)\%$. When this prediction is confronted with recent experimental results from Belle collaboration $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-e^+ν_e)=1.31(04\pm07\pm38)\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-μ^+ν_μ)=1.27(06\pm10\pm 37)\%$, it is found that the SU(3) symmetry is severely broken. We then consider the generic SU(3) breaking effects in these decays and find that the data can be accommodated in different scenarios but the breaking effects are inevitably large. In some interesting scenarios, we also explore the testable implications in these scenarios which can be tested with more data become available. Similar analyses are carried out for semileptonic anti-triplet beauty baryon to octet baryons and anti-triplet charmed baryons. The validity of SU(3) for these decays can also be examined when data become available.

Global Analysis of hadronic two-body B decays in the perturbative QCD approach

Based on the flavor structure of four-quark effective operators, we develop an automatic computation program to calculate hadronic two-body $B$ meson decay amplitudes, and apply it to their global analysis in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. Fitting the PQCD factorization formulas for $B\to PP,VP$ decays at leading order in the strong coupling $α_s$ to measured branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries, we determine the Gegenbauer moments in light meson light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs). It is found that most of the fitted Gegenbauer moments of the twist-2 and twist-3 LCDAs for the pseudoscalar meson $P$ ($P=π$, $K$) and vector meson $V$ ($V=ρ$, $K^*$) agree with those derived in QCD sum rules. The shape parameter for the $B_s$ meson distribution amplitude and the weak phase $ϕ_3(γ)=(75.1\pm2.9)^\circ$ consistent with the value in Particle Data Group are also obtained. It is straightforward to extend our analysis to higher orders and higher powers in the PQCD approach, and to the global determination of LCDAs for other hadrons.

Transverse Energy-Energy Correlations of jets in the electron-proton Deep Inelastic Scattering at HERA

We study the event shape variables, transverse energy energy correlation TEEC $(\cos ϕ)$ and its asymmetry ATEEC $(\cos ϕ)$ in deep inelastic scattering (DIS) at the electron-proton collider HERA, where $ϕ$ is the angle between two jets defined using a transverse-momentum $(k_T)$ jet algorithm. At HERA, jets are defined in the Breit frame, and the leading nontrivial transverse energy energy correlations arise from the 3-jet configurations. With the help of the NLOJET++, these functions are calculated in the leading order (LO) and the next-to-leading order (NLO) approximations in QCD at the electron-proton center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=314$ GeV. We restrict the angular region to $-0.8 \leq \cos ϕ\leq 0.8$, as the forward- and backward-angular regions require resummed logarithmic corrections, which we have neglected in this work. Following experimental jet-analysis at HERA, we restrict the DIS-variables $x$, $y=Q^2/(x s)$, where $Q^2=-q^2$ is the negative of the momentum transfer squared $q^2$, to $0 \leq x \leq 1$, $0.2 \leq y \leq 0.6$, and the pseudo-rapidity variable in the laboratory frame $(η^{\rm {lab}})$ to the range $-1 \leq η^{\rm {lab}} \leq 2.5$. The TEEC and ATEEC functions are worked out for two ranges in $Q^2$, defined by $5.5~{\rm GeV}^2 \leq Q^2 \leq 80~{\rm GeV}^2$, called the low-$Q^2$-range, and $150~{\rm GeV}^2 \leq Q^2 \leq 1000~{\rm GeV}^2$, called the high-$Q^2$-range. We show the sensitivity of these functions on the parton distribution functions (PDFs), the factorization $(μ_F)$ and renormalization $(μ_R)$ scales, and on $α_s(M_Z)$. Of these the correlations are stable against varying the scale $μ_F$ and the PDFs, but they do depend on $μ_R$. These studies are useful in the analysis of the HERA data, including the determination of $α_s(M_Z)$ from the shape variables.

A comprehensive analysis of weak transition form factors for doubly heavy baryons in the light front approach

The transition form factors for doubly heavy baryons into a spin-$1/2$ or spin-$3/2$ ground-state baryon induced by both the charged current and the flavor changing neutral current are systematically studied within the light-front quark model. In the transition the two spectator quarks have two spin configurations and both are considered in this calculation. We use an updated vertex functions, and inspired by the flavor SU(3) symmetry, we also provide a new approach to derive the flavor-spin factors. With the obtained transition form factors, we perform a phenomenological study of the corresponding semi-leptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons induced by the $c\to d/s \ell^+ν$, $b\to c/u\ell^-\bar ν$ and $b\to d/s\ell^+\ell^-$. Results for partial decay widths, branching ratios and the polarization ratios $Γ_{L}/Γ_{T}$s are given. We find that most branching ratios for the semi-leptonic decays induced by the $c\to d,s$ transitions are at the order of $10^{-3}\sim10^{-2}$, which might be useful for the search of other doubly-heavy baryons. Uncertainties in form factors, the flavor SU(3) symmetry and sources of symmetry breaking effects are discussed. We find that the SU(3) symmetry breaking effects could be sizable in charmed baryon decays while in the bottomed case, the SU(3) symmetry breaking effects are less significant. Our results can be examined at the experimental facilities in the future.

S-wave contributions in $\bar B_s^0\to (D^0,\bar D^0)π^+π^- $ within perturbative QCD approach

The $\bar B_s^0\to (D^0,\bar D^0) π^+π^-$ is induced by the $b\to c \bar us$/$b \to u\bar cs$ transition, and can interfere if a CP-eigenstate $D_{\rm CP}$ is formed. The interference contribution is sensitive to the CKM angle $γ$. In this work, we study S-wave $π^+π^-$ contributions to the process in the perturbative QCD factorization. Under the factorization framework, we adopt two-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes, whose normalization is parametrized by the S-wave time-like two-pion form factor with the resonance contributions from $f_0(500)$, $f_0(980),f_0(1500),f_0(1790)$. We find the branching ratios of $\bar B_s^0\to (D^0,\bar D^0) (π^+π^-)_S$ can reach the order of $10^{-6}$, and significant interferences exist in $\bar B_s^0\to D_{CP} (π^+π^-)_S$. The future measurement can not only provide useful constraints on the CKM angle $γ$ but is also helpful to explore the multi-body decay mechanism of heavy mesons.

Weak decays of doubly heavy baryons: the FCNC processes

The discovery of doubly heavy baryon provides us with a new platform for precisely testing Standard Model and searching for new physics. As a continuation of our previous works, we investigate the FCNC processes of doubly heavy baryons. Light-front approach is adopted to extract the form factors, in which the two spectator quarks are viewed as a diquark. Results for form factors are then used to predict some phenomenological observables, such as the decay width and the forward-backward asymmetry. We find that most of the branching ratios for $b\to s$ processes are $10^{-8}\sim10^{-7}$ and those for $b\to d$ processes are $10^{-9}\sim10^{-8}$. The flavor SU(3) symmetry and symmetry breaking effects are explored. Parametric uncertainties are also investigated.
