Neural Grapheme-to-Phoneme Conversion with Pre-trained Grapheme Models

Neural network models have achieved state-of-the-art performance on grapheme-to-phoneme (G2P) conversion. However, their performance relies on large-scale pronunciation dictionaries, which may not be available for a lot of languages. Inspired by the success of the pre-trained language model BERT, this paper proposes a pre-trained grapheme model called grapheme BERT (GBERT), which is built by self-supervised training on a large, language-specific word list with only grapheme information. Furthermore, two approaches are developed to incorporate GBERT into the state-of-the-art Transformer-based G2P model, i.e., fine-tuning GBERT or fusing GBERT into the Transformer model by attention. Experimental results on the Dutch, Serbo-Croatian, Bulgarian and Korean datasets of the SIGMORPHON 2021 G2P task confirm the effectiveness of our GBERT-based G2P models under both medium-resource and low-resource data conditions.

Novel formulation of Hamilton-Jacobi equation for higher derivative theory and quantum mechanical correspondence

For higher derivative theories, using the approach of Caratheodory's equivalent Lagrangian, we show that there exist novel formulations of Hamilton-Jacobi equations, which are different from the formulations derived from Hamilton's canonical approach. The quantum mechanical correspondences of these novel Hamilton-Jacobi equations lead to nonlinear quantum mechanics, which seem being able to avoid the unbounded negative energy problem in the quantum mechanics of higher derivative theories.

Reformulations of Yang-Mills Theories with Space-time Tensor Fields

We provide the reformulations of Yang-Mills theories in terms of gauge invariant metric-like variables in three and four dimensions. The reformulations are used to analyze the dimension two gluon condensate and give gauge invariant descriptions of gluon polarization. In three dimensions, we obtain a non-zero dimension two gluon condensate by one loop computation, whose value is similar to the square of photon mass in the Schwinger model. In four dimensions, we obtain a Lagrangian with the dual property, which shares the similar but different property with the dual superconductor scenario. We also make discussions on the effectiveness of one loop approximation.

Bimetric Gravity From Adjoint Frame Field In Four Dimensions

We provide a novel model of gravity by using adjoint frame fields in four dimensions. It has a natural interpretation as a gravitational theory of a complex metric field, which describes interactions between two real metrics. The classical solutions establish three appealing features. The spherical symmetric black hole solution has an additional hair, which includes the Schwarzschild solution as a special case. The de Sitter solution is realized without introducing a cosmological constant. The constant flat background breaks the Lorentz invariance spontaneously, although the Lorentz breaking effect can be localized to the second metric while the first metric still respects the Lorentz invariance.

Metric-Like Formulation Of the Spin-Three Gravity In Three Dimensions

We provide a metric-like formulation of the spin-3 gravity in three dimensions. It is shown that the Chern-Simons formulation of the spin-3 gravity can be reformulated as a Einstein-Cartan-Sciama-Kibble theory coupled with the higher-spin matter fields. A duality-like transformation is also identified from this metric-like formulation.

Gauge Invariant Descriptions of Gluon Polarizations Revisited

We examine the feasibility of gauge invariant descriptions of the gluon polarization following the proposal that a gauge field can be decomposed into its physical part and its pure gauge part. We show that gauge invariant angular momentum currents can be constructed from summations of gauge variant Noether currents. We present novel expressions of the pure gauge field, which are used to formulate gauge invariant descriptions of the gluon spin and the photon spin. We show that the gauge invariant extension of the Chern-Simons current can describe the spins of the Laguerre-Gauss laser modes. We also discuss the relation of gauge invariant operators and the parton distributions constructed from Dirac variables.

Gauge Invariant Descriptions of Gluon Polarizations

We propose methods to construct gauge invariant decompositions of the nucleon spin, particularly gauge invariant descriptions of the gluon polarization. We show that gauge invariant decompositions of the nucleon spin can be derived naturally from the conserved current of a generalized Lorentz transformation by the Noether theorem. We propose a gauge invariant extension of the Chern-Simons current as a possible description of the gluon spin, and we also examine the problem of gauge dependence of this extended Chern-Simons current.

Higher Spin Theories from Finsler Geometry

We provide observations that Finsler geometry could be useful tools to construct higher-spin theories. We suggest that a Finsler metric of constant flag curvature can be regarded as a metric encoding higher-spin fields. We also show that the Fronsdal's equations for free higher-spin fields can be derived from equations of motion of constant curvature in Finsler geometry.

Converting Classical Theories to Quantum Theories by Solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi Equation

By employing special solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation and tools from lattice theories, we suggest an approach to convert classical theories to quantum theories for mechanics and field theories. Some nontrivial results are obtained for a gauge field and a fermion field. For a topologically massive gauge theory, we can obtain a first order Lagrangian with mass term. For the fermion field, in order to make our approach feasible, we supplement the conventional Lagrangian with a surface term. This surface term can also produce the massive term for the fermion.

A Model of Fermion Masses and Mixings Triggered by Family Problem in Warped Extra Dimensions

We suggest a model which addresses both the fermion mass hierarchy problem and the family problem in two-layer warped extra dimensions. In this model, 3 family fermions in 4 dimensions (4D) generate from 1 family in two-layer warped 6D by two step Kluza-Klein decompositions. The mass hierarchies are produced by the exponential behavior of 4D fermion zero mode profiles. The mixings and masses of fermions are closely related to the family problem. By adjusting parameters in this model, the numerical results can be very close to the experimental data both in the quark sector and in the lepton sector. In the lepton sector, we suppose neutrinos to be Dirac ones. The neutrino masses of sub-$\mathrm{eV}$ scale are obtained, and also CP violation emerges in the lepton sector.

Determining quark and lepton mass matrices by a geometrical interpretation

By designating one eigenvector of the mass matrix, one can reduce the free parameters in the mass matrix effectively. Applying this method to the quark mass matrix and to the lepton mass matrix, we find that this method is consistent with available experimental data. This approach may provide some hints for constructing theoretical models. Especially, in the lepton sector, the Koide's mass relation is connected to the element of the tribimaximal matrix through Foot's geometrical interpretation. In the quark sector, we suggest another mass formula and the same procedure also applies.
