Probing rotated Weyl physics on nonlinear lithium niobate-on-insulator chips

Topological photonics, featured by stable topological edge states resistant to perturbations, has been utilized to design robust integrated devices. Here, we present a study exploring the intriguing topological rotated Weyl physics in a 3D parameter space based on quaternary waveguide arrays on lithium niobate-on-insulator (LNOI) chips. Unlike previous works that focus on the Fermi arc surface states of a single Weyl structure, we can experimentally construct arbitrary interfaces between two Weyl structures whose orientations can be freely rotated in the synthetic parameter space. This intriguing system was difficult to realize in usual 3D Weyl semimetals due to lattice mismatch. We found whether the interface can host gapless topological interface states (TISs) or not, is determined by the relative rotational directions of the two Weyl structures. In the experiment, we have probed the local characteristics of the TISs through linear optical transmission and nonlinear second harmonic generation. Our study introduces a novel path to explore topological photonics on LNOI chips and various applications in integrated nonlinear and quantum optics.

Ranking Entity Based on Both of Word Frequency and Word Sematic Features

Entity search is a new application meeting either precise or vague requirements from the search engines users. Baidu Cup 2016 Challenge just provided such a chance to tackle the problem of the entity search. We achieved the first place with the average MAP scores on 4 tasks including movie, tvShow, celebrity and restaurant. In this paper, we propose a series of similarity features based on both of the word frequency features and the word semantic features and describe our ranking architecture and experiment details.

Generalized Migdal-Kadanoff Bond-moving Renormalization Recursion Procedure I: Symmetrical Half-length Bond Operation on Translational Invariant Lattices

We report in a series of papers two types of generalized Migdal-Kadanoff bond-moving renormalization group transformation recursion procedures. In this first part the symmetrical operation of half length bonds on translational invariant lattices are considered. As an illustration of their predominance in application, the procedures are used to study the critical behavior of the spin-continuous Gaussian model constructed on the triangular lattices. Results such as the correlation length critical exponents obtained by this means are found to be in good conformity with the classical results from other studies.

Generalized Migdal-Kadanoff Bond-moving Renormalization Recursion Procedure II: Symmetrical Half-length Bond Operation on Fractals

In this second part of the series of two papers we report another type of generalized Migdal-Kadanoff bond-moving renormalization group transformation recursion procedures considering symmetrical single bond operations on fractals. The critical behavior of the spin-continuous Gaussian model constructed on the Sierpinski gaskets is studied as an example to reveal its predominance in application. Results obtained by this means are found to be in good conformity with those obtained from other studies.
