Real-time vacuum-state quantum random number generator on a chip

Quantum random number generators (QRNGs) produce true random numbers, which are guaranteed by the fundamental principles of quantum physics. Miniaturization of QRNGs is crucial for a wide range of communication and cryptography applications. Here, we first report a fully functional QRNG chip based on vacuum-state fluctuations, with dimensions of 16.6 mm x 7.8 mm. The quantum entropy source, which is achieved via hybrid photonic integration with a SiO2 waveguide, generates raw quantum random numbers. The hybrid photonic and electrical components are assembled into a compact ceramic package using system-in-package technology. A microcontroller unit acquires the raw data and outputs the processed quantum random numbers via a serial peripheral interface. According to the characterization results, the QRNG chip achieves a constant real-time output rate of 5.2 Mbps across the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for practical applications.

Background field method in the large $N_f$ expansion of scalar QED

Using the background field method, we, in the large $N_f$ approximation, calculate the beta function of scalar quantum electrodynamics at the first nontrivial order in $1/N_f$ by two different ways. In the first way, we get the result by summing all the graphs contributing directly. In the second way, we begin with the Borel transform of the related two point Green's function. The main results are that the beta function is fully determined by a simple function and can be expressed as an analytic expression with a finite radius of convergence, and the scheme-dependent renormalized Borel transform of the two point Green's function suffers from renormalons.

A method for getting a finite $α$ in the IR region from an all-order beta function

The analytical method of QCD running coupling constant is extended to a model with an all-order beta function which is inspired by the famous Novikov-Shifman-Vai\-n\-s\-htein-Zakharov beta function of N=1 supersymmetric gau\-g\-e theories. In the approach presented here, the running coupling is determined by a transcendental equation with non-elementary integral of the running scale $μ$. In our approach $α_{an}(0)$, which reads 0.30642, does not rely on any dimensional parameters. This is in accordance with results in the literature on the analytical method of QCD running coupling constant. The new "analytically im\-p\-roved" running coupling constant is also compatible with the property of asymptotic freedom.

A method for getting well-defined coupling constant in all region

In this work, a way starting from beta function is presented for obtaining well-defined coupling constant in UV and IR region. In the approach presented here, obvious singularity is removed, and asymptotic behaviour is reserved fully and manifestly. Also it's shown that the freezed coupling constant is independent of dimensional parameters $Λ$ and not sensitive to higher-loop corrections and renormalization scheme adopted. A non-dimensional function of energy scale is introduced to play the role of "fine tuning".
