Global Pose Control for Generative View Synthesis in Normalized Object Coordinate Space

Novel View Synthesis (NVS) enables the generation of unseen views of a scene from a single or multiple images, allowing users to freely explore an object from any viewpoint. Despite the recent impressive qualitative improvements of generative models for this task, existing methods struggle to provide global and intuitive control of target viewpoints because they either use input-relative camera poses or are limited to generating sparse global views. This lack of global pose control severely limits the number of downstream tasks potentially enabled by NVS. To address this limitation, we propose a novel approach for precise camera control in a customizable Normalized Object Coordinate Space (NOCS), requiring single or few unposed images. Our method operates solely on the absolute camera pose of the target view in NOCS, eliminating the need for a relative world frame or camera poses of the input images. Unlike previous methods that treat NVS as a standalone generation task, we formulate it as an image editing problem and build upon state-of-the-art editing models to leverage their superior generalization capability. Camera information is injected as dedicated camera tokens via an in-context multi-modal conditioning strategy. To alleviate the inherent ambiguity of NOCS, we incorporate text descriptions that explicitly define the object's canonical coordinate frame, which also enhances generalization to unseen object categories. Furthermore, we curate a high-quality dataset with consistently aligned orientations and corresponding NOCS text definitions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method robustly generates novel views with accurate and consistent orientations from arbitrary unposed images across diverse categories, achieving state-of-the-art image quality and fidelity.

SS4D: Native 4D Generative Model via Structured Spacetime Latents

We present SS4D, a native 4D generative model that synthesizes dynamic 3D objects directly from monocular video. Unlike prior approaches that construct 4D representations by optimizing over 3D or video generative models, we train a generator directly on 4D data, achieving high fidelity, temporal coherence, and structural consistency. At the core of our method is a compressed set of structured spacetime latents. Specifically, (1) To address the scarcity of 4D training data, we build on a pre-trained single-image-to-3D model, preserving strong spatial consistency. (2) Temporal consistency is enforced by introducing dedicated temporal layers that reason across frames. (3) To support efficient training and inference over long video sequences, we compress the latent sequence along the temporal axis using factorized 4D convolutions and temporal downsampling blocks. In addition, we employ a carefully designed training strategy to enhance robustness against occlusion

Hi3DEval: Advancing 3D Generation Evaluation with Hierarchical Validity

Despite rapid advances in 3D content generation, quality assessment for the generated 3D assets remains challenging. Existing methods mainly rely on image-based metrics and operate solely at the object level, limiting their ability to capture spatial coherence, material authenticity, and high-fidelity local details. 1) To address these challenges, we introduce Hi3DEval, a hierarchical evaluation framework tailored for 3D generative content. It combines both object-level and part-level evaluation, enabling holistic assessments across multiple dimensions as well as fine-grained quality analysis. Additionally, we extend texture evaluation beyond aesthetic appearance by explicitly assessing material realism, focusing on attributes such as albedo, saturation, and metallicness. 2) To support this framework, we construct Hi3DBench, a large-scale dataset comprising diverse 3D assets and high-quality annotations, accompanied by a reliable multi-agent annotation pipeline. We further propose a 3D-aware automated scoring system based on hybrid 3D representations. Specifically, we leverage video-based representations for object-level and material-subject evaluations to enhance modeling of spatio-temporal consistency and employ pretrained 3D features for part-level perception. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing image-based metrics in modeling 3D characteristics and achieves superior alignment with human preference, providing a scalable alternative to manual evaluations. Generalized Huang's Equation for Phonon Polariton in Polyatomic Polar Crystal

The original theory of phonon polariton is Huang's equation which is suitable for diatomic polar crystals only. We proposed a generalized Huang's equation without fitting parameters for phonon polariton in polyatomic polar crystals. We obtained the dispersions of phonon polariton in GaP (bulk), hBN (bulk and 2D), {\alpha}-MoO3 (bulk and 2D) and ZnTeMoO6 (2D), which agree with the experimental results in the literature and of ourselves. We also obtained the eigenstates of the phonon polariton. We found that the circular polarization of the ion vibration component of these eigenstates is nonzero in hBN flakes. The result is different from that of the phonon in hBN.

IDArb: Intrinsic Decomposition for Arbitrary Number of Input Views and Illuminations

Capturing geometric and material information from images remains a fundamental challenge in computer vision and graphics. Traditional optimization-based methods often require hours of computational time to reconstruct geometry, material properties, and environmental lighting from dense multi-view inputs, while still struggling with inherent ambiguities between lighting and material. On the other hand, learning-based approaches leverage rich material priors from existing 3D object datasets but face challenges with maintaining multi-view consistency. In this paper, we introduce IDArb, a diffusion-based model designed to perform intrinsic decomposition on an arbitrary number of images under varying illuminations. Our method achieves accurate and multi-view consistent estimation on surface normals and material properties. This is made possible through a novel cross-view, cross-domain attention module and an illumination-augmented, view-adaptive training strategy. Additionally, we introduce ARB-Objaverse, a new dataset that provides large-scale multi-view intrinsic data and renderings under diverse lighting conditions, supporting robust training. Extensive experiments demonstrate that IDArb outperforms state-of-the-art methods both qualitatively and quantitatively. Moreover, our approach facilitates a range of downstream tasks, including single-image relighting, photometric stereo, and 3D reconstruction, highlighting its broad applications in realistic 3D content creation.

Temporal Correlation between Positive-Charged Cosmic Ray Flux and Solar Polar Field Variation: Insights from Delayed Modulation Analysis

We present an analysis of the time-dependent modulation of galactic cosmic rays near Earth, with a focus on the cosmic proton flux and polar field. Using data from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) and the Wilcox Solar Observatory, we identify a significant time-lagged relationship between the observation of two missions. Our model incorporates a weighted magnetic field parameter to address the hemispheric asymmetry in polar fields and captures the temporal evolution of cosmic-ray proton spectra in relation to solar activity. We find a time lag of approximately 10 months, varying with cosmic ray rigidity. At 1 GV, the time lag is 360 days, while it is 300 days above 3 GV. A potential mechanism is proposed to explain the observed time-lagged relationship and its dependence on cosmic ray rigidity. This offers predictive insights into cosmic ray modulation within the heliosphere. These results enhance the accuracy of space weather forecasting models, with significant implications for the safety of space missions and aviation.

Hyperbolic phonon polaritons and wave vector direction dependent dielectric tensors in anisotropic crystals

Hyperbolic phonon polariton is important in precisely controlling photons at the nanoscale. It was common practice to calculate the dielectric function of the phonon polariton system with the Drude-Lorenz model. We considered the impact of LO-TO splitting while applying the Drude-Lorenz model. Then the dielectric functions become wave vector direction dependent besides electric polarization direction dependent. Our results show that considering LO-TO splitting can more accurately predict dielectric functions. Additionally, we discovered that, besides hexagonal BN, hexagonal AlN exhibits a wide hyperbolic frequency band range, while the other four materials display it scarcely. Furthermore, we found that the phonon frequency, lifetime, and the difference of infrared active transverse optical phonon frequencies with different wave vector directions are critical factors in determining the width of the hyperbolic frequency band range. We also found some dumbbell-shaped and butterfly-shaped isofrequency curves in h-AlN, h-GaP, and especially h-GaN. Our study provides a fresh perspective on understanding the dielectric properties of these materials and lays a theoretical foundation for further exploration and development of new hyperbolic phonon polariton materials.

Phonon pseudoangular momentum in $α$-MoO$_3$

In recent studies, it has been discovered that phonons can carry angular momentum, leading to a series of investigations into systems with 3-fold rotation symmetry. However, for systems with 2-fold screw rotational symmetry, such as $α$-MoO$_3$, there has been no relevant discussion. In this paper, we investigated the pseudoangular momentum of phonons in crystals with 2-fold screw rotational symmetry. Taking $α$-MoO$_3$ as an example, we explain the selection rules in circularly polarized Raman experiments resulting from pseudoangular momentum conservation, providing important guidance for experiments. This study of pseudoangular momentum in $α$-MoO$_3$ opens up a new degree of freedom for its potential applications, expanding into new application domains.

GPT-4V(ision) is a Human-Aligned Evaluator for Text-to-3D Generation

Despite recent advances in text-to-3D generative methods, there is a notable absence of reliable evaluation metrics. Existing metrics usually focus on a single criterion each, such as how well the asset aligned with the input text. These metrics lack the flexibility to generalize to different evaluation criteria and might not align well with human preferences. Conducting user preference studies is an alternative that offers both adaptability and human-aligned results. User studies, however, can be very expensive to scale. This paper presents an automatic, versatile, and human-aligned evaluation metric for text-to-3D generative models. To this end, we first develop a prompt generator using GPT-4V to generate evaluating prompts, which serve as input to compare text-to-3D models. We further design a method instructing GPT-4V to compare two 3D assets according to user-defined criteria. Finally, we use these pairwise comparison results to assign these models Elo ratings. Experimental results suggest our metric strongly align with human preference across different evaluation criteria.

HyperDreamer: Hyper-Realistic 3D Content Generation and Editing from a Single Image

3D content creation from a single image is a long-standing yet highly desirable task. Recent advances introduce 2D diffusion priors, yielding reasonable results. However, existing methods are not hyper-realistic enough for post-generation usage, as users cannot view, render and edit the resulting 3D content from a full range. To address these challenges, we introduce HyperDreamer with several key designs and appealing properties: 1) Viewable: 360 degree mesh modeling with high-resolution textures enables the creation of visually compelling 3D models from a full range of observation points. 2) Renderable: Fine-grained semantic segmentation and data-driven priors are incorporated as guidance to learn reasonable albedo, roughness, and specular properties of the materials, enabling semantic-aware arbitrary material estimation. 3) Editable: For a generated model or their own data, users can interactively select any region via a few clicks and efficiently edit the texture with text-based guidance. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of HyperDreamer in modeling region-aware materials with high-resolution textures and enabling user-friendly editing. We believe that HyperDreamer holds promise for advancing 3D content creation and finding applications in various domains.

Symmetry breaking and entropy production during the evolution of spinor Bose-Einstein condensate driven by coherent atom beam

The spinor condensate with spin states degenerated in the ground spin-space provides a unique platform for investigating the edge of quantum mechanics and statistical physics. We study the evolution of the condensate under the scattering of a coherent atom beam. The time-dependent magnetization, entanglement entropy, thermal entropy and the entropy production rate are calculated. A novel spontaneous symmetry breaking is found during the evolution, It is shown that the stationary spin distribution can be controlled by the incoming coherent spin state of the incident atom beam, therefore the atom-condensate scattering provides a new way to probe the spin distribution of the condensate

Topological phase and chiral edge states of bilayer graphene with staggered sublattice potentials and Hubbard interaction

Gated heterostructures containing bilayer graphene with staggered sublattice potentials are investigated by tight binding model with Rashba spin-orbital coupling and Hubbard interaction. The topological phase diagrams depend on the combinations of substrates and the Hubbard interaction. The presence of the staggered sublattice potential favor the topological phase transition with small Rashba spin-orbital coupling strength. The presence of the Hubbard interaction modified the topological phase boundaries, increasing the minimal spin-orbital coupling strength for topological phase transition. A phase space of topological semi-metal with indirect band gap is identified in the non-interacting systems. For the bilayer graphene with different staggered sublattice potentials in the two layers, the conditions for the zigzag nanoribbons to host edge polarized chiral edge states are discussed. The conditions require moderate or vanishing Rashba spin-orbital coupling strength, as well as proper range of the gate voltage. The conditions for the systems with and without the Hubbard interaction are compared. The edge polarization can be controlled by the gate voltage.

Opto Propeller Effect on Chiral Micro-Rotors

Manipulating mega biomolecules and micro-devices with light is highly appealing. Opto driving torque can propel micro-rotors to translational motion in viscous liquid, and then separate microsystems according to their handedness. We study the torque of dielectric loss generated by circular polarized lasers. The unwanted axial force which causes the handedness independent translational motion is cancelled by the counter propagating reflection beams. The propelling efficiency and the friction torque of water are obtained by solving the Navier-Stokes equation. In the interesting range of parameters, the numerical friction torque is found to be linear in the angular velocity with a slope depending on the radius or rotor as $r^3$. The time-dependent distribution of angular velocity is obtained as a solution of the Fokker-Planck equation, with which the thermal fluctuation is accounted. The results shed light on the micro-torque measurement and suggest a controllable micro-carrier.

The X-ray bursts within the 2010 outburst of the accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar SAX J1748.9-2021

With the observations from \textit{Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer}, we search and study the X-ray bursts of accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar SAX~J1748.9-2021 during its 2010 outburst. We find 13 X-ray bursts, including 12 standard type-\uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral1} X-ray bursts and an irregular X-ray burst which lacks cooling tail. During the outburst, the persistent emission occurred at $\sim$(1-5)$\%\rm {\dot{M}_{Edd}}$. We use a combination model of a blackbody (BB), a powerlaw, and a line component to fit the persistent emission spectra. Another BB is added into the combination model to account for the emission of the X-ray bursts due to the thermonuclear burning on the surface of the neutron star. Finally, we modify the combination model with a multiplicative factor $f_{\rm a}$, plus a BB to fit the spectra during the X-ray bursts. It is found that the $f_{\rm a}$ is inversely correlated with the burst flux in some cases. Our analysis suggests that the ignition depth of the irregular X-ray burst is obviously smaller than those of the type-\uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral1} X-ray bursts. We argue that the detected type-\uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral1} X-ray bursts originate from helium-rich or pure-helium environment, while the irregular X-ray burst originates from the thermonuclear flash in a shallow ocean.

A study of the cross-correlation and time lag in black hole X-ray binary XTE J1859+226

With Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) data, we systematically study the cross-correlation and time lag in all spectral states of black hole X-ray binary (BHXB) XTE J1859+226 in detail during its entire 1999-2000 outburst that lasted for 166 days. Anti-correlations and positive correlations and their respective soft and hard X-ray lags are only detected in the first 100 days of the outburst when the luminosity is high. This suggests that the cross-correlations may be related to high luminosity. Positive correlations are detected in every state of XTE J1859+226, viz., hard state, hard-intermediate state (HIMS), soft-intermediate state (SIMS) and soft state. However, anti-correlations are only detected in HIMS and SIMS, anti-correlated hard lags are only detected in SIMS, while anti-correlated soft lags are detected in both HIMS and SIMS. Moreover, the ratio of the observations with anti-correlated soft lags to hard lags detected in XTE J1859+226 is significantly different from that in neutron star low-mass X-ray binaries (NS LMXBs). So far, anti-correlations are never detected in the soft state of BHXBs but detected in every branch or state of NS LMXBs. This may be due to the origin of soft seed photons in BHXBs is confined to the accretion disk and, for NS LMXBs, from both accretion disk and the surface of the NS. We notice that the timescale of anti-correlated time lags detected in XTE J1859+226 is similar with that of other BHXBs and NS LMXBs. We suggest that anti-correlated soft lag detected in BHXB may result from fluctuation in the accretion disk as well as NS LMXB.

Hyperfine state entanglement of spinor BEC and scattering atom

Condensate of spin-1 atoms frozen in a unique spatial mode may possess large internal degrees of freedom. The scattering amplitudes of polarized cold atoms scattered by the condensate are obtained with the method of fractional parentage coefficients that treats the spin degrees of freedom rigorously. Channels with scattering cross sections enhanced by square of atom number of the condensate are found. Entanglement between the condensate and the propagating atom can be established by the scattering. The entanglement entropy is analytically obtained for arbitrary initial states. Our results also give hint for the establishment of quantum thermal ensembles in the hyperfine space.

Large photon drag effect of intrinsic graphene induced by plasmonic evanescent field

Large photon drag effect of the massless Dirac Fermions in intrinsic graphene is predicted for a graphene-on-plasmonic-layer system. The surface plasmons in the plasmonic layer enlarge the wave number of photon for hundreds of time of that in vacuum. The evanescent field of the surface plasmons generates directional motion of carriers in the intrinsic graphene, because of the large momentum transfer from the surface plasmon to the excited carriers. A model Hamiltonian is developed on the assumption that the in-plane wavelength of the surface plasmons is much smaller than the mean free path of the carriers. The time evolution of density matrix is solved by perturbation method as well as numerical integration. The non-diagonal density matrix elements with momentum transfer lead to gauge current that is the optically driven macroscopic direct current. The dependence of the macroscopic direct current on the incident direction and intensity of the laser field is studied.
