TransRetrieval: Scaling Up Transformer-Based Retrieval for Industrial Recommendation

Applying scaling laws to recommendation retrieval is hindered by feature heterogeneity: naively stacking Transformer layers yields diminishing returns because heterogeneous fields produce severe token-norm divergence. We present TransRetrieval, a Transformer-based retrieval framework that scales with both computational budget and cross-domain data. The key enabler is (1) weighted average aggregation, which restores the homogeneous-token assumption Transformers rely on. Building on this, we introduce (2) target token compression that cuts per-candidate FLOPs by 85% while preserving cross-attention expressiveness, and (3) position-style domain embeddings that unify multiple domains at negligible additional cost, turning cross-domain data into a scaling asset. On a 40-billion-interaction industrial dataset and the public KuaiRand benchmark, scaling compute from 0.1 to 2 MFLOPs per target yields +19.3/+22.2 pt Recall@2000, confirming robust log-linear scaling. In online A/B tests, TransRetrieval lifts platform revenue by 2.53% under the same end-to-end latency constraint as the production baseline.

Integer Linear Programming Preprocessing for Maximum Satisfiability

The Maximum Satisfiability problem (MaxSAT) is a major optimization challenge with numerous practical applications. In recent MaxSAT evaluations, most MaxSAT solvers have incorporated an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) solver into their portfolios. However, a good portfolio strategy requires a lot of tuning work and is limited to the profiling benchmark. This paper proposes a methodology to fully integrate ILP preprocessing techniques into the MaxSAT solving pipeline and investigates the impact on the top-performing MaxSAT solvers. Experimental results show that our approach helps to improve 5 out of 6 state-of-the-art MaxSAT solvers, especially for WMaxCDCL-OpenWbo1200, the winner of the MaxSAT evaluation 2024 on the unweighted track, which is able to solve 15 additional instances using our methodology.

Jailbreak-as-a-Service++: Unveiling Distributed AI-Driven Malicious Information Campaigns Powered by LLM Crowdsourcing

To prevent the misuse of Large Language Models (LLMs) for malicious purposes, numerous efforts have been made to develop the safety alignment mechanisms of LLMs. However, as multiple LLMs become readily accessible through various Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platforms, attackers can strategically exploit LLMs' heterogeneous safety policies to fulfill malicious information generation tasks in a distributed manner. In this study, we introduce \textit{\textbf{PoisonSwarm}} to how attackers can reliably launder malicious tasks via the speculative use of LLM crowdsourcing. Building upon a scheduler orchestrating crowdsourced LLMs, PoisonSwarm maps the given malicious task to a benign analogue to derive a content template, decomposes it into semantic units for crowdsourced unit-wise rewriting, and reassembles the outputs into malicious content. Experiments show its superiority over existing methods in data quality, diversity, and success rates. Regulation simulations further reveal the difficulty of governing such distributed, orchestrated misuse in MaaS ecosystems, highlighting the need for coordinated, ecosystem-level defenses.
