EGTR-Review: Efficient Evidence-Grounded Scientific Peer Review Generation via Multi-Agent Teacher Distillation

Scientific peer review generation has attracted increasing attention for reducing reviewing burdens and providing timely feedback. However, existing Large Language Model (LLM)-based methods often produce generic comments with insufficient evidence support and weak source traceability, while complex multi-agent systems incur high inference costs. To address these challenges, we propose EGTR-Review, an Evidence-Grounded and Traceable Review Generation framework via Multi-Agent Teacher Distillation. EGTR-Review first constructs a multi-agent teacher that performs structure-aware paper decomposition, key-element extraction, external scholarly evidence retrieval, evidence-state labeling, verification reasoning, and review synthesis. It then distills both intermediate reasoning trajectories and final review comments into a lightweight student model through task-prefix-driven multi-task learning. An evidence-weighted objective further reduces the influence of weak, missing, or non-verifiable supervision. Experiments on public peer-review datasets show that EGTR-Review (Student) outperforms strong prompt-based, fine-tuned, and structured/agentic baselines across automatic metrics, LLM-as-Judge evaluation, and human evaluation, while maintaining strong factual grounding and source traceability with substantially lower token consumption and inference time. Our code, prompts, configurations, and sample data are available on GitHub.

Spin-Axis-Layer Locking for Intrinsic Bipolar Altermagnetic Semiconductors: Proof-of-Concept in Bilayer CuBr2

Electrical control of spin and magnetic sublattice degrees of freedom is essential for multifunctional and low-power spintronic devices. Bipolar altermagnetic semiconductors (BAMSs)-characterized by opposite spin polarizations at the valence and conduction band edges-offer such control, yet known systems require external strain and sizable valley polarization for gate-tunable switching. Here, we propose a universal spin-axis-layer locking (SALL) paradigm to overcome these limitations. By stacking two quasi-1D ferromagnetic monolayers with a 90 degrees twist, the bilayer reconstructs altermagnetic symmetry, yielding an intrinsic BAMS state where carrier spin is locked to specific layers and transport directions. Using synthesized CuBr2 monolayers as proof-of-concept, we demonstrate via first-principles calculations a robust BAMS state. Electrostatic gating enables simultaneous, reversible switching of carrier type, spin, and active layer, generating fully spin-polarized axial charge currents and directionally controllable pure spin currents with near-unity charge-to-spin conversion efficiency. This SALL model establishes a versatile, strain-independent strategy for advanced all-electrical altermagnetic devices.

Ferroelectrically Controlled Chirality Switching of Weyl Quasiparticles

Weyl quasiparticles, as gapless low-energy excitations with nontrivial chirality, have garnered extensive interest in recent years. However, archieving effective and reversible control over their chirality (topological charge) remains a major challeng due to topological protection. In this work, we propose a ferroelectric mechanism to switch the chirality of Weyl phonons, where the reversal of ferroelectric polarization is intrinsically coupled to a simultaneous reversal of the chirality of Weyl points. This enables electric-field-driven control over the topological properties of phonon excitations. Through a comprehensive symmetry analysis of polar space groups, we identify 27 groups capable of hosting symmetry-protected Weyl phonons with chiral charges $C = 1$, $2$, and $3$, whose chirality can be reversed via polarization switching. The first-principles calculations are performed to screen feasible material candidates for each type of chirality, yielding a set of prototypical ferroelectric compounds that realize the proposed mechanism. As a representative example, K$_2$ZnBr$_4$ hosts the minimal configuration of two pairs of Weyl phonons. Upon polarization reversal, the chirality of all Weyl points is inverted, accompanied by a reversal of associated topological features such as Berry curvature and surface arcs. These findings provide a viable pathway for dynamic, electrical control of topological band crossings and open new avenues for chirality-based phononic applications.

Single-Spin Waved-Brim Flat-Top Hat in the Band Edge of GdIH Monolayer

Exotic electronic bands, such as flat bands, linear crossing bands, spontaneously valley- or spin-polarized bands, in two-dimensional materials have been the hot topics in condensed matter physics. Herein, we first propose a general dispersion model for possible hat-like electronic bands, and then identify an intriguing single-spin \emph{waved-brim flat-top hat} in the valence band edge of a stable ferromagnetic semiconducting electrene (i.e., Janus GdIH monolayer), which can be well described by a simplified two-bands Hamiltonian model. Specifically, the hat-band has a waved brim with six valleys along the boundary of the first Brillouin zone; meanwhile it holds a flat top close to the Fermi level, resulting in the emergence of single-spin van Hove singularities divergence and Lifshitz transitions. Owing to the breaking of both time-reversal and space inversion symmetries, a sizable spontaneous valley polarization is formed between the adjacent brim valleys, which provides the opportunity to realize the high-temperature anomalous valley Hall effect. Particularly, via modest strains and carriers doping, various conductive bipolar-states (spin-up vs. spin-down, K valley vs. $-$K valley, and ultra-low-speed vs. ultra-high-speed) can be modulated out from the distorted waved-brim flat-top hat of GdIH ML.

Tetragonal Mexican-Hat Dispersion and Switchable Half-Metal State with Multiple Anisotropic Weyl Fermions in Penta-Graphene

In past decades, the ever-expanding library of 2D carbon allotropes has yielded a broad range of exotic properties for the future carbon-based electronics. However, the known allotropes are all intrinsic nonmagnetic due to the paired valence electrons configuration. Based on the reported 2D carbon structure database and first-principles calculations, herein we demonstrate that inherent ferromagnetism can be obtained in the prominent allotrope, penta-graphene, which has an unique Mexican-hat valence band edge, giving rise to van Hove singularities and electronic instability. Induced by modest hole-doping, being achievable in electrolyte gate, the semiconducting pentagraphene can transform into different ferromagnetic half-metals with room temperature stability and switchable spin directions. In particular, multiple anisotropic Weyl states, including type-I and type-II Weyl cones and hybrid quasi Weyl nodal loop, can be found in a sizable energy window of spin-down half-metal under proper strains. These findings not only identify a promising carbon allotrope to obtain the inherent magnetism for carbon-based spintronic devices, but highlight the possibility to realize different Weyl states by combining the electronic and mechanical means as well.

Comment on "Topological Nodal-Net Semimetal in a Graphene Network Structure"

Recently, a distinct topological semimetal, nodal-net semimetal, has been identified by Wang et al. through ab initio calculations [Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 026402 (2018)]. The authors claimed that a new body-centered tetragonal carbon allotrope with I4/mmm symmetry, termed bct-C40, can host this novel state exhibiting boxed-astrisk shaped nodal nets. In this Comment, we demonstrate that bct-C40 is in fact a nodal surface semimetal, the concept of which has been proposed as early as 2016 [Phys. Rev. B 93, 085427 (2016)].

Mechanical Anisotropy and Multiple Direction-Dependent Dirac States in the Synthesized Ag3C20 Monolayer

Recently, a 2D orthorhombic silver-organic framework, Ag3C20 monolayer, was synthesized by assembling organic molecules linked with multiple aryl-metal bonds. Herein, via first-principles study, we demonstrate that owing to the unique bonding feature, Ag3C20 monolayer not only exhibits strong mechanical anisotropy, but also possesses various tunable direction-dependent Dirac states. Around the Fermi level blow, the intrinsic Dirac points form two antiparallel quasi type-III nodal lines protected by mirror symmetry, which can further evolve into hybrid nodal loops under tiny strains. Intriguingly, near the Fermi level above, a special semi-Dirac state can emerge under a critical strain by merging two type-I Dirac cone, which harbors direction-dependent strongly localized fermions, normal massive carries, and ultrafast Dirac fermions at the same time. These findings suggest that the mechanically sensitive Ag3C20 monolayer is a promising 2D material to realize the interesting Dirac physics and highly anisotropic multiple carries transport.

The impact of COVID-19 on the stock market crash risk in China

This study investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the stock market crash risk in China. For this purpose, we first estimated the conditional skewness of the return distribution from a GARCH with skewness (GARCH-S) model as the proxy for the equity market crash risk of the Shanghai Stock Exchange. We then constructed a fear index for COVID-19 using data from the Baidu Index. Based on the findings, conditional skewness reacts negatively to daily growth in total confirmed cases, indicating that the pandemic increases stock market crash risk. Moreover, the fear sentiment exacerbates such risk, especially with regard to the impact of COVID-19. In other words, when the fear sentiment is high, the stock market crash risk is more strongly affected by the pandemic. Our evidence is robust for the number of daily deaths and global cases.

Preventing crash in stock market: The role of economic policy uncertainty during COVID-19

This paper investigates the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on the crash risk of US stock market during the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, we use the GARCH-S (GARCH with skewness) model to estimate daily skewness as a proxy for the stock market crash risk. The empirical results show the significantly negative correlation between EPU and stock market crash risk, indicating the aggravation of EPU increase the crash risk. Moreover, the negative correlation gets stronger after the global COVID-19 outbreak, which shows the crash risk of the US stock market will be more affected by EPU during the pandemic.

Multiple feature fusion-based video face tracking for IoT big data

With the advancement of IoT and artificial intelligence technologies, and the need for rapid application growth in fields such as security entrance control and financial business trade, facial information processing has become an important means for achieving identity authentication and information security. In this paper, we propose a multi-feature fusion algorithm based on integral histograms and a real-time update tracking particle filtering module. First, edge and colour features are extracted, weighting methods are used to weight the colour histogram and edge features to describe facial features, and fusion of colour and edge features is made adaptive by using fusion coefficients to improve face tracking reliability. Then, the integral histogram is integrated into the particle filtering algorithm to simplify the calculation steps of complex particles. Finally, the tracking window size is adjusted in real time according to the change in the average distance from the particle centre to the edge of the current model and the initial model to reduce the drift problem and achieve stable tracking with significant changes in the target dimension. The results show that the algorithm improves video tracking accuracy, simplifies particle operation complexity, improves the speed, and has good anti-interference ability and robustness.

Compressive Subspace Learning with Antenna Cross-correlations for Wideband Spectrum Sensing

Compressive subspace learning (CSL) with the exploitation of space diversity has found a potential performance improvement for wideband spectrum sensing (WBSS). However, previous works mainly focus on either exploiting antenna auto-correlations or adopting a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel without considering the spatial correlations, which will degrade their performances. In this paper, we consider a spatially correlated MIMO channel and propose two CSL algorithms (i.e., mCSLSACC and vCSLACC) which exploit antenna cross-correlations, where the mCSLSACC utilizes an antenna averaging temporal decomposition, and the vCSLACC uses a spatial-temporal joint decomposition. For both algorithms, the conditions of statistical covariance matrices (SCMs) without noise corruption are derived. Through establishing the singular value relation of SCMs in statistical sense between the proposed and traditional CSL algorithms, we show the superiority of the proposed CSL algorithms. By further depicting the receiving correlation matrix of MIMO channel with the exponential correlation model, we give important closed-form expressions for the proposed CSL algorithms in terms of the amplification of singular values over traditional CSL algorithms. Such expressions provide a possibility to determine optimal algorithm parameters for high system performances in an analytical way. Simulations validate the correctness of this work and its performance improvement over existing works in terms of WBSS performance.

Two-dimensional spin-valley-coupled Dirac semimetals in functionalized SbAs monolayers

In the presence of spin-orbit coupling (SOC), achieving both spin and valley polarized Dirac state is significant to promote the fantastic integration of Dirac physics, spintronics and valleytronics. Based on ab initio calculations, here we demonstrate that a class of spin-valley-coupled Dirac semimetals (svc-DSMs) in the functionalized SbAs monolayers (MLs) can host such desired state. Distinguished from the graphene-like 2D Dirac materials, the Dirac cones in svc-DSMs hold giant spin-splitting induced by strong SOC under inversion symmetry breaking. In the 2.3% strained SbAsH2 ML, the Dirac fermions in inequivalent valleys have opposite Berry curvature and spin moment, giving rise to Dirac spin-valley Hall effect with constant spin Hall conductivity as well as massless and dissipationless transport. Topological analysis reveals that the svc-DSM emerges at the boundary between trivial and 2D topological insulators, which provides a promising platform for realizing the flexible and controllable tuning among different quantum states.

All-Silicon Topological Semimetals with Closed Nodal Line

Owing to the natural compatibility with current semiconductor industry, silicon allotropes with diverse structural and electronic properties provide promising platforms for the next-generation Si-based devices. After screening 230 all-silicon crystals in the zeolite frameworks by first-principles calculations, we disclose two structurally stable Si allotropes (AHT-Si24 and VFI-Si36) containing open channels as topological node-line semimetals with Dirac nodal points forming a nodal loop in the kz=0 plane of Brillouin zone. Interestingly, their nodal loops protected by inversion and time-reversal symmetries are robust against SU(2) symmetry breaking due to very weak spin-orbit coupling of Si. When the nodal lines are projected onto the (001) surface, flat surface bands can be observed because of the nontrivial topology of the bulk band structures. Our discoveries extend the topological physics to the three-dimensional Si materials, highlighting the possibility to realize low-cost, nontoxic and semiconductor-compatible Si-based electronics with topological quantum states.
