FSS-Net: Frequency-Spatial Synergy Network with Wavelet Attention for Carotid Artery Ultrasound Segmentation

Accurate segmentation of carotid arteries in ultrasound imaging is critical for stroke risk assessment. However, speckle noise, low contrast, and blurred boundaries remain major challenges. In this paper, we propose a Frequency-Spatial Synergy Network (FSS-Net) to achieve noise-robust and high-precision carotid artery segmentation. The network integrates wavelet transform, multi-domain attention, and edge enhancement into a unified encoder-decoder architecture. Specifically, a Channel-Spatial-Wavelet Attention (CSWA) module is designed to suppress noise and purify semantic features in the frequency domain. A Wavelet-Enhanced Bottleneck (WEB) module is introduced to capture long-range global dependencies efficiently. Furthermore, a Laplacian-Guided Adaptive Edge Fusion (LAEF) module compensates high-frequency details and maintains boundary continuity. Extensive experiments on carotid ultrasound datasets show that FSS-Net achieves a Dice score (DSC) of 96.46% and strong robustness under low SNR conditions, outperforming several state-of-the-art methods. This method realizes accurate segmentation of carotid artery in ultrasonic imaging, effectively identifies carotid atherosclerotic plaque, and is verified by other task (such as segmentation of breast cancer), suggesting that it has good clinical application potential in identifying abnormal tissue masses in ultrasonic images.

OpenECG: Benchmarking ECG Foundation Models with Public 1.2 Million Records

This study introduces OpenECG, a large-scale benchmark of 1.2 million 12-lead ECG recordings from nine centers, to evaluate ECG foundation models (ECG-FMs) trained on public datasets. We investigate three self-supervised learning methods (SimCLR, BYOL, MAE) with ResNet-50 and Vision Transformer architectures, assessing model generalization through leave-one-dataset-out experiments and data scaling analysis. Results show that pre-training on diverse datasets significantly improves generalization, with BYOL and MAE outperforming SimCLR, highlighting the efficacy of feature-consistency and generative learning over contrastive approaches. Data scaling experiments reveal that performance saturates at 60-70% of total data for BYOL and MAE, while SimCLR requires more data. These findings demonstrate that publicly available ECG data can match or surpass proprietary datasets in training robust ECG-FMs, paving the way for scalable, clinically meaningful AI-driven ECG analysis.

Dynamic boxes fusion strategy in object detection

Object detection on microscopic scenarios is a popular task. As microscopes always have variable magnifications, the object can vary substantially in scale, which burdens the optimization of detectors. Moreover, different situations of camera focusing bring in the blurry images, which leads to great challenge of distinguishing the boundaries between objects and background. To solve the two issues mentioned above, we provide bags of useful training strategies and extensive experiments on Chula-ParasiteEgg-11 dataset, bring non-negligible results on ICIP 2022 Challenge: Parasitic Egg Detection and Classification in Microscopic Images, further more, we propose a new box selection strategy and an improved boxes fusion method for multi-model ensemble, as a result our method wins 1st place(mIoU 95.28%, mF1Score 99.62%), which is also the state-of-the-art method on Chula-ParasiteEgg-11 dataset.
