Existence and concentration of solution for Schrödinger-Poisson system with local potential

In this paper, we study the following nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson type equation \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -\varepsilon^2Δu+V(x)u+K(x)ϕu=f(u)&\text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^3,\\ -\varepsilon^2Δϕ=K(x)u^2&\text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^3, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter, $V: \mathbb{R}^3\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous potential and $K: \mathbb{R}^3\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is used to describe the electron charge. Under suitable assumptions on $V(x), K(x)$ and $f$, we prove existence and concentration properties of ground state solutions for $\varepsilon>0$ small. Moreover, we summarize some open problems for the Schrödinger-Poisson system.

Concentration of positive ground state solutions for critical Kirchhoff equation with competing potentials

In this paper, we consider the following singularly perturbed Kirchhoff equation \begin{equation*} -(\varepsilon^2a+\varepsilon b\int_{\mathbb{R}^3}|\nabla u|^2dx)Δu+V(x)u=P(x)|u|^{p-2}u+Q(x)|u|^4u,\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^3, \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter, $a, b > 0$ are constants, $p\in(4,6)$ and $V, P, Q$ are potential functions satisfying some competing conditions. We prove the existence of a positive ground state solution by using variational methods, and we determine a concrete set related to the potentials $V,P$ and $Q$ as the concentration position of these ground state solutions as $\varepsilon\to0$.

Multiplicity of solutions for a class of critical Schrödinger-Poisson system with two parameters

We study a class of critical Schrödinger-Poisson system of the form \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -Δu+λV(x)u+ϕu=μ|u|^{p-2}u+|u|^{4}u& \quad x\in \mathbb{R}^3,\\ -Δϕ=u^2&\quad x\in \mathbb{R}^3,\\ \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $λ, μ>0$ are two parameters, $p\in(4,6)$ and $V$ satisfies some potential well conditions. By using the variational arguments, we prove the existence of positive ground state solutions for $λ$ large enough and $μ>0$, and their asymptotical behavior as $λ\to\infty$. Moreover, by using Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory, we obtain the existence of multiple positive solutions if $λ$ is large and $μ$ is small.

Bayesian Approach to Inverse Time-harmonic Acoustic Scattering from Sound-soft Obstacles with Phaseless Data

This paper concerns the Bayesian approach to inverse acoustic scattering problems of inferring the position and shape of a sound-soft obstacle from phaseless far-field data generated by point source waves. To improve the convergence rate, we use the Gibbs sampling and preconditioned Crank-Nicolson (pCN) algorithm with random proposal variance to implement the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. This usually leads to heavy computational cost, since the unknown obstacle is parameterized in high dimensions. To overcome this challenge, we examine a surrogate model constructed by the generalized polynomial chaos (gPC) method to reduce the computational cost. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Bayesian Approach to Inverse Time-harmonic Acoustic Scattering with Phaseless Far-field Data

This paper is concerned with inverse acoustic scattering problem of inferring the position and shape of a sound-soft obstacle from phaseless far-field data. We propose the Bayesian approach to recover sound-soft disks, line cracks and kite-shaped obstacles through properly chosen incoming waves in two dimensions. Given the Gaussian prior measure, the well-posedness of the posterior measure in the Bayesian approach is discussed. The Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is adopted in the numerical approximation and the preconditioned Crank-Nicolson (pCN) algorithm with random proposal variance is utilized to improve the convergence rate. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed method.

Multiple and concentration of nontrivial nonnegative solutions for a fractional Choquard equation with critical exponent

In present paper, we study the fractional Choquard equation $$\varepsilon^{2s}(-Δ)^s u+V(x)u=\varepsilon^{μ-N}(\frac{1}{|x|^μ}\ast F(u))f(u)+|u|^{2^\ast_s-2}u$$ where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $s\in(0,1),$ $N>2s,$ $2^*_s=\frac{2N}{N-2s}$ and $0<μ<\min\{2s,N-2s\}$. Under suitable assumption on $V$ and $f$, we prove this problem has a nontrivial nonnegative ground state solution. Moreover, we relate the number of nontrivial nonnegative solutions with the topology of the set where the potential attains its minimum values and their's concentration behavior.

Multi-grid Multi-Level Monte Carlo Method for Stokes-Darcy interface Model with Random Hydraulic Conductivity

In this article we develop a multi-grid multi-level Monte Carlo (MGMLMC) method for the stochastic Stokes-Darcy interface model with random hydraulic conductivity both in the porous media domain and on the interface. Because the randomness through the interface affects the flow in the Stokes domain, we investigate the coupled stochastic Stokes-Darcy model to improve the fidelity as this model also considers the second and third porosity of the free flow. Then we prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution of the variational form. For the numerical solution, we adopt the Monte Carlo (MC) method and finite element method (FEM), for the discrete form in the probability space and physical space, respectively. In the traditional single-level Monte Carlo (SLMC) method, more accurate numerical approximate requires both larger number of samples in probability space and smaller mesh size in the physical space. Then the computational cost increase significantly as the mesh size becomes smaller for the more accurate numerical approximate. Therefore we adopt the multi-level Monte Carlo (MLMC) method to dramatically reduce the computational cost in the probability space, because the number of samples decays fast while the mesh size decreases. We also develop a strategy to calculate the number of samples needed in MLMC method for the stochastic Stokes-Darcy model. Furthermore MLMC naturally provides the hierarchial grids and sufficient information on these grids for multi-grid (MG) method, which can in turn improve the efficiency of MLMC. In order to fully make use of the dynamical interaction between this two methods, we propose the multi-grid multi-level Monte Carlo method for more efficiently solving the stochastic model. Numerical examples are provided to verify and illustrate the proposed method and the theoretical conclusions.
