Quantifying non-Markovianity via conditional mutual information

In this paper, we study measures of quantum non-Markovianity based on the conditional mutual information. We obtain such measures by considering multiple parts of the total environment such that the conditional mutual information can be defined in this multipartite setup. The benefit of this approach is that the conditional mutual information is closely related to recovery maps and Markov chains; we also point out its relations with the change of distinguishability. We study along the way the properties of leaked information which is the conditional mutual information that can be back flowed, and we use this leaked information to show that the correlated environment is necessary for nonlocal memory effect.

On Efficient and Robust Metrics for RANSAC Hypotheses and 3D Rigid Registration

This paper focuses on developing efficient and robust evaluation metrics for RANSAC hypotheses to achieve accurate 3D rigid registration. Estimating six-degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) pose from feature correspondences remains a popular approach to 3D rigid registration, where random sample consensus (RANSAC) is a de-facto choice to this problem. However, existing metrics for RANSAC hypotheses are either time-consuming or sensitive to common nuisances, parameter variations, and different application scenarios, resulting in performance deterioration in overall registration accuracy and speed. We alleviate this problem by first analyzing the contributions of inliers and outliers, and then proposing several efficient and robust metrics with different designing motivations for RANSAC hypotheses. Comparative experiments on four standard datasets with different nuisances and application scenarios verify that the proposed metrics can significantly improve the registration performance and are more robust than several state-of-the-art competitors, making them good gifts to practical applications. This work also draws an interesting conclusion, i.e., not all inliers are equal while all outliers should be equal, which may shed new light on this research problem.

Non-Markovian quantum dynamics: Extended correlated projection superoperators

The correlated projection superoperator techniques provide a better understanding about how correlations lead to strong non-Markovian effects in open quantum systems. Their superoperators are independent of initial state, which may not be suitable for some cases. To improve this, we develop a new approach, that is extending the composite system before use the correlated projection superoperator techniques. Such approach allows choosing different superoperators for different initial states. We apply these techniques to a simple model to illustrate the general approach. The numerical simulations of the full Schrödinger equation of the model reveal the power and efficiency of the method.

3D Correspondence Grouping with Compatibility Features

We present a simple yet effective method for 3D correspondence grouping. The objective is to accurately classify initial correspondences obtained by matching local geometric descriptors into inliers and outliers. Although the spatial distribution of correspondences is irregular, inliers are expected to be geometrically compatible with each other. Based on such observation, we propose a novel representation for 3D correspondences, dubbed compatibility feature (CF), to describe the consistencies within inliers and inconsistencies within outliers. CF consists of top-ranked compatibility scores of a candidate to other correspondences, which purely relies on robust and rotation-invariant geometric constraints. We then formulate the grouping problem as a classification problem for CF features, which is accomplished via a simple multilayer perceptron (MLP) network. Comparisons with nine state-of-the-art methods on four benchmarks demonstrate that: 1) CF is distinctive, robust, and rotation-invariant; 2) our CF-based method achieves the best overall performance and holds good generalization ability.

N-Z equation from assignment maps

The Nakajima-Zwanzig(N-Z) equation is a powerful tool to analyze the open quantum system and non-Markovian behavior. In this paper, we modify the N-Z equation with assignment maps. This approach extends the application to those situations in which the bipartite state of the system and environment contains non-negligible discord initial and/or during the dynamics. We applied the equation in quantum lattice model and bound the influence of inhomogeneous terms, which figure out how the dimension of the environment impact the non-Markovian behavior.

Lieb-Robinson Bound at Finite Temperature

The Lieb-Robinson bound shows that the speed of propagating information in a nonrelativistic quantum lattice system is bounded by a finite velocity, which entails the clustering of correlations. In this paper, we extend the Lieb-Robinson bound to quantum systems at finite temperature by calculating the dynamical correlation function at nonzero temperature for systems whose interactions are respectively short-range, exponentially-decaying and long-range. We introduce a simple way of counting the clusters in a cluster expansion by using the combinatoric generating functions of graphs. Limitations and possible applications of the obtained bound are also discussed.

Gravitational baryogenesis of vacuum Inflation

We show that in the vacuum inflation model, the gravitational baryogenesis mechanism will produce the baryon asymmetry. We analyze the evolution of entropy and baryon number in the vacuum inflation model. The comparison between dilution speed and the chemical potential may give a natural interpretation for decouple temperature of the gravitational baryogenesis interaction. From the result, the mechanism can give acceptable baryon-to-entropy ratio in the vacuum inflation model.

Scalar and tensor perturbation in vacuum inflation

Recently, it was proposed that a small true vacuum universe can inflate spontaneously, in principle. Furthermore, there should be matter creation in vacuum inflation due to quantum fluctuations, and the matter created will influence the inflation simultaneously. In this paper, scalar and tensor perturbations in this model are analyzed and confronted with recent observations. These perturbations are derived and expressed with Hubble flow-functions. By comparing our calculations with experimental results, we can determine all the parameters in this model. Finally, with the determined parameters, we compute the evolution of the matter density and show that the matter produced in inflation roughly fits the observations at present.
