JD Oxygen AI Item Center (Oxygen AIIC) V1: An Industrial-Scale LLM/VLM-Centric Solution for Item Understanding, Management, and Applications

JD$.$com, one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms, serves over 700 million active users and millions of merchants, with a catalog of tens of billions of SKUs. At this scale, high-quality, structured item knowledge underpins a better consumer experience, lower management costs, and higher operational efficiency-yet producing and serving it poses three industrial-scale challenges: fast-emerging concepts, high-quality knowledge production for massive SKUs, and diverse downstream requirements. To address these challenges, we present the JD Oxygen AI Item Center (Oxygen AIIC), an industrial-scale platform built on LLMs/VLMs for item-knowledge production and service. Oxygen AIIC is built around four core pillars: (i) ontology engineering driven by efficient human-AI collaboration, which supports the dynamic evolution and agile expansion of an ontology with millions of entries; (ii) a "Semantic Search then Discrimination"(S2D) knowledge identification architecture that, combined with throughput improvement strategies, enables scalable, extensible, and high-throughput AI Item Library production for tens of billions of SKUs; (iii) self-evolving item-understanding LLMs/VLMs that improve in a stable and controllable manner, enabling knowledge production with 94.2% precision and 82.8% recall; and (iv) a unified item tunnel that serves as the data and service hub. Oxygen AIIC now covers tens of thousands of JD categories and processes hundreds of millions of item updates per day on Huawei Ascend NPUs. It has accumulated hundreds of billions of item-knowledge assets. Deployed across core business scenarios-including search, recommendation, operations, category planning-Oxygen AIIC has delivered measurable gains at scale. Search-traffic coverage reaches 80.4%, item-information quality issues drop by 37%, the automated fill rate of core attributes during item listing exceeds 80%.

Catch-Only-One: Non-Transferable Examples for Model-Specific Authorization

Recent AI regulations increasingly emphasize the need for mechanisms that preserve the utility of data for AI innovation while preventing misuse, particularly by enforcing purpose limitation in downstream AI applications. In practice, enforcing this principle remains challenging, as released data can be trivially fed into arbitrary models beyond its declared intent. Existing approaches attempt to mitigate this risk by either perturbing data or retraining models to limit unintended use. These strategies, however, offer no protection against inference by unknown or externally trained models, or fundamentally rely on control over the training or deployment. In this work, we introduce non-transferable examples (NTEs), recoded data that act as a task-level "ciphertext" decodable only by a designated model. Whereas adversarial examples exploit directions of high model sensitivity, NTEs leverage the complementary insensitive subspace. We propose a training-free, data-agnostic method that recodes data within a model-specific low-sensitivity subspace, preserving outputs for the authorized model while degrading unauthorized ones through subspace misalignment. We establish formal bounds certifying authorized-model fidelity and showing that unauthorized degradation scales with measurable spectral misalignment between models. Empirically, NTEs preserve performance across diverse vision backbones and state-of-the-art vision-language models under common preprocessing, while unauthorized models collapse even under adaptive reconstruction attacks. These results establish NTEs as a practical means to preserve intended data utility while preventing unauthorized exploitation. PECKER: A Precisely Efficient Critical Knowledge Erasure Recipe For Machine Unlearning in Diffusion Models

Machine unlearning (MU) has become a critical technique for GenAI models' safe and compliant operation. While existing MU methods are effective, most impose prohibitive training time and computational overhead. Our analysis suggests the root cause lies in poorly directed gradient updates, which reduce training efficiency and destabilize convergence. To mitigate these issues, we propose PECKER, an efficient MU approach that matches or outperforms prevailing methods. Within a distillation framework, PECKER introduces a saliency mask to prioritize updates to parameters that contribute most to forgetting the targeted data, thereby reducing unnecessary gradient computation and shortening overall training time without sacrificing unlearning efficacy. Our method generates samples that unlearn related class or concept more quickly, while closely aligning with the true image distribution on CIFAR-10 and STL-10 datasets, achieving shorter training times for both class forgetting and concept forgetting.

Think Bright, Diffuse Nice: Enhancing T2I-ICL via Inductive-Bias Hint Instruction and Query Contrastive Decoding

Text-to-Image In-Context Learning (T2I-ICL) enables customized image synthesis via interleaved text-image examples but faces two mutually reinforcing bottlenecks, compliance failure and prior-dominated hallucination, that form a vicious cycle degrading generation quality. Existing methods rely on tailored training, which limits flexibility and raises deployment costs. To address these challenges effectively, we propose TBDN, a training-free framework integrating two complementary closed-loop mechanisms: Hint Instruction (HI) and Query Contrastive Decoding (QCD). HI injects task-aware inductive bias via lightweight prompt engineering to anchor models on contextual mapping rules, thereby mitigating compliance failure. QCD adjusts the decoding distributions of language models by contrasting full-input and query-omitted distributions, suppressing prior-dominated hallucination. TBDN achieves State-of-the-Art performance on CoBSAT and Text-to-Image Fast Mini-ImageNet, with robust generalization across model backbones, prompt designs, and hyperparameters. It also maintains promising performance in concept preservation and prompt following on Dreambench++. By breaking the two bottlenecks, TBDN establishes a simple yet effective framework for efficient and reliable T2I-ICL.

TIP and Polish: Text-Image-Prototype Guided Multi-Modal Generation via Commonality-Discrepancy Modeling and Refinement

Multi-modal generation struggles to ensure thematic coherence and style consistency. Semantically, existing methods suffer from cross-modal mismatch and lack explicit modeling of commonality and discrepancy. Methods that rely on fine-grained training fail to balance semantic precision with writing style consistency. These shortcomings lead to suboptimal generation quality. To tackle these issues, we propose \textbf{\textit{TIPPo}}, a simple yet effective framework with explicit input modeling and comprehensive optimization objectives. It extracts the input text and images via multi-modal encoder and adapters, then measures the visual prototype. \textbf{T}extual, \textbf{I}mage, and \textbf{P}rototype signals are then fed to our proposed Dual Alignment Attention and Difference Operator modules before language model decoding. The proposed \textbf{Po}lishPPO reinforces the style consistency, while the unsupervised contrastive learning during SFT mitigates inter-sample representation collapse. Experimental results demonstrate the promising performance of \textbf{\textit{TIPPo}} in automatic evaluation and LLM-based criteria for creativity and semantic consistency.

FlexMUSE: Multimodal Unification and Semantics Enhancement Framework with Flexible interaction for Creative Writing

Multi-modal creative writing (MMCW) aims to produce illustrated articles. Unlike common multi-modal generative (MMG) tasks such as storytelling or caption generation, MMCW is an entirely new and more abstract challenge where textual and visual contexts are not strictly related to each other. Existing methods for related tasks can be forcibly migrated to this track, but they require specific modality inputs or costly training, and often suffer from semantic inconsistencies between modalities. Therefore, the main challenge lies in economically performing MMCW with flexible interactive patterns, where the semantics between the modalities of the output are more aligned. In this work, we propose FlexMUSE with a T2I module to enable optional visual input. FlexMUSE promotes creativity and emphasizes the unification between modalities by proposing the modality semantic alignment gating (msaGate) to restrict the textual input. Besides, an attention-based cross-modality fusion is proposed to augment the input features for semantic enhancement. The modality semantic creative direct preference optimization (mscDPO) within FlexMUSE is designed by extending the rejected samples to facilitate the writing creativity. Moreover, to advance the MMCW, we expose a dataset called ArtMUSE which contains with around 3k calibrated text-image pairs. FlexMUSE achieves promising results, demonstrating its consistency, creativity and coherence.
