One-point charge correlator as a probe for the odderon

We propose the one-point charge correlator (OPCC) in transversely polarized deep inelastic scattering as a new probe of the spin-dependent odderon. The OPCC is an infrared and collinear safe observable constructed solely from the charge and angular information of final-state charged particles. Because the charge weight is odd under charge conjugation, the contribution of the C-even pomeron to the OPCC vanishes identically in the small-$x$ eikonal limit, whereas the contribution of the C-odd spin-dependent odderon survives. We define a transverse single-spin asymmetry by normalizing the spin-dependent OPCC to the unpolarized charged-hadron one-point energy correlator. At small $x$, this asymmetry reduces to a ratio of spin-dependent odderon and pomeron contributions. We provide illustrative estimates of this asymmetry for Electron-Ion Collider kinematics within the small-$x$ dipole framework with Balitsky--Kovchegov evolution to guide experimental studies. Dedicated measurements of the OPCC asymmetry with a transversely polarized proton beam would provide new quantitative constraints on the currently unconstrained spin-dependent odderon.

Hadronization effects and electroweak contributions in DIS one-jettiness

We study the structure of leading hadronization effects and the contributions of massive electroweak gauge boson exchange in the $τ_1$ and $τ_{1a}$ 1-Jettiness global event shapes for deep inelastic scattering (DIS). The leading hadronization effects in $τ_1$ acquire a non-trivial dependence on the hard scattering kinematics. This kinematic dependence is explicitly calculable, so that the leading hadronization effects in $τ_1$, $τ_{1a}$, and DIS thrust are universal and described by the same underlying shape function. The additional calculable kinematic dependence in $τ_1$ provides an independent lever arm for simultaneously constraining hadronization effects in these observables. We present corresponding results at the N$^3$LL+${\cal O}(α_s^2)$ level of accuracy. We extend previous results by including the contributions mediated by the exchange of the massive $Z$ and $W$ electroweak gauge bosons for neutral current (NC) and charged current (CC) DIS, respectively, including ${\cal O}(α_s)$ QCD corrections to obtain N$^2$LL+${\cal O}(α_s)$ results. We compare theoretical predictions to Pythia simulation and demonstrate the universality of leading hadronization effects across NC and CC DIS processes and a wide range of kinematics relevant to HERA and the EIC.

Quantum Graph Neural Networks for Jet Tagging on Quantum Hardware

Jets are central to the physics programs of both current and future colliders, from precision Standard Model measurements and searches for new physics at the Large Hadron Collider to studies of nucleon structure at the future Electron-Ion Collider. Motivated by these applications, we explore quantum machine learning for jet classification and present a permutation-invariant Quantum Graph Neural Network (QGNN) applied to particle-cloud representations of jets. We apply the model to two such discrimination tasks: quark vs. gluon and up vs. down quark flavor tagging, with the latter being, to our knowledge, the first application of a quantum model to this problem. In the ideal simulation, the QGNN performs competitively against the Particle Flow Network and traditional QCD observables. We further deploy scaled-down models to IBM and IonQ quantum processing units (QPUs), where we train and evaluate them, obtaining promising results. Finally, we perform an interpretability analysis to characterize the observables learned by the quantum model, relating them to generalized angularities for the quark-gluon study and to jet charge for the flavor study.

Energy-Energy Correlators in $Z$-Tagged Jets in $pp$ Collisions

We present predictions for the collinear energy-energy correlator (EEC) measured inside $Z$-tagged jets in proton-proton collisions across the confinement transition. Our framework combines transverse-momentum-dependent factorization for back-to-back $Z+$jet production with an exclusive differential EEC jet function incorporating perturbative evolution and flavor-dependent non-perturbative fragmentation. The EEC jet function is evaluated at $\mathrm{NLL}^{\prime}$ accuracy, with separate quark and gluon non-perturbative scales constrained by existing $e^+e^-$ and inclusive-jet data. We provide predictions for forward $Z+$jet production at $\sqrt{s}=8~\mathrm{TeV}$ and $13~\mathrm{TeV}$ in the jet transverse-momentum intervals $(20, 30)$, $(30, 50)$ and $(50, 100) \, \mathrm{GeV}$. The EEC distributions as functions of $z_χ$ exhibit finite plateaus at small $z_χ$, while the corresponding angular distributions display the characteristic turnover associated with the confinement transition. A flavor decomposition shows that this transition becomes increasingly dominated by quark-initiated jets as the jet transverse momentum increases. Forward $Z$-tagged jets therefore provide a clean probe of non-perturbative quark fragmentation and offer a direct test of whether the characteristic confinement scale extracted from $e^+e^-$ collisions remains universal in a hadronic environment.

Polarized jet anisotropy at the Electron-Ion Collider

Jets provide a powerful probe of the three-dimensional spin structure of the nucleon, a central goal of the Electron-Ion Collider. Yet the observed jet defines an axis that breaks the azimuthal isotropy of soft-gluon radiation, thereby reshaping the very asymmetries used to extract that structure. Using transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) QCD factorization, we show for the first time that this jet-induced anisotropy imposes a parity selection rule on polarized asymmetries. Expanding the transversely polarized structure functions in harmonics $\cos(nϕ_{qJ})$, where $ϕ_{qJ}$ is the angle between the jet and the lepton-jet momentum imbalance, makes this rule explicit: the symmetry of each harmonic is fixed by the parity of $n$, independently of the magnitudes of the harmonic coefficients. For the Sivers function, the canonical left-right asymmetry about the proton spin survives for even $n$ but is replaced by a counterintuitive left-right symmetry for odd $n$. The worm-gear function retains its up-down asymmetry at every harmonic while being left-right symmetric for even $n$ and asymmetric for odd $n$. At EIC kinematics, the higher harmonics studied here are predicted to be individually measurable, providing new observables for the azimuthal dynamics of soft radiation and an essential ingredient in precision extractions of nucleon structure.

Universality and Kinematic Dependence of Hadronization Effects in DIS Global Event Shapes

We propose a unified framework for a combined global analysis to constrain leading hadronization effects across the 1-Jettiness class of global event shapes for Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS). We show that for the subclass of jet-based event shapes where the leading jet direction is determined dynamically event-by-event, the leading hadronization effects can acquire a non-trivial dependence on the hard scattering kinematics. However, this dependence is explicitly calculable, allowing for universality of leading hadronization effects in the 1-Jettiness class. The non-trivial kinematic dependence provides an independent lever arm for simultaneously constraining hadronization effects in the jet-based and DIS thrust event shapes. This universality, combined with the kinematic lever arm, could allow for including the typically ignored peak region, where hadronization effects are most severe, in precision extractions of the strong coupling. We demonstrate the need for such a unified treatment of hadronization effects through comparisons of theoretical predictions with simulation data.

Probing the Sivers Asymmetry with Transverse Energy-Energy Correlators in the Small-$x$ Regime

We investigate transverse energy-energy correlators (TEECs) for both polarized and unpolarized targets in the small-$x$ regime at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). Focusing on the approximately back-to-back electroproduction of a hadron-electron pair, we apply transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) factorization formulas that incorporate TMD evolution for both event-shape observables and expand them in terms of the small-$x$ dipole amplitude. This allows us to write the TEEC off the transversely polarized proton in terms of a C-odd interaction, corresponding to an odderon exchange. Due to the charge-conjugation-odd nature of the small-$x$ quark Sivers function, we restrict the sum over final hadronic states to positively and negatively charged hadrons separately. We present numerical predictions for the TEEC Sivers asymmetry at the EIC and find the magnitude of the asymmetry to be on the $0.01 \%$ level. This channel offers a promising avenue for benchmarking the still largely unconstrained odderon amplitude.

Confinement Versus Screening in the Schwinger Model on AdS$_2$ from Bosonization and Tensor Networks

We analyze confinement and screening in single-flavor quantum electrodynamics (QED$_2$) on two-dimensional anti-de Sitter space (AdS$_2$), with and without a Schwarzschild black hole, both in the continuum and on the lattice. The theory is formulated in two frames adapted to distinct choices of a preferred time coordinate: the Schwarzschild frame, associated with the Boulware vacuum, and the global AdS$_2$ frame, associated with the $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})$-invariant vacuum. In the massless limit, the static potential between an external charge-anticharge pair is obtained in closed form by bosonization, at both zero and finite temperature. After subtraction of the position-dependent probe self-energies, which, unlike in flat space, are not constant, the potential remains finite as the geodesic separation is taken to infinity, establishing that the theory is screened. This is consistent with the explicit breaking of the $\mathrm{U}(1)$ electric one-form symmetry by the dynamical fermions, and resolves a confining/screening ambiguity in earlier treatments that identify the static potential with the unsubtracted ground-state energy. To validate the continuum analysis, we propose a covariant discretization scheme for placing fermions in curved spacetime on the lattice while ensuring that the continuum properties of the spin and gauge connections are restored in the continuum limit. This construction resolves ambiguities in the existing literature on lattice fermions in curved backgrounds and provides the foundation for our tensor-network simulations. Using a matrix product state ansatz, we confirm our analytical predictions for the phase diagram in AdS$_2$. We perform extensive numerical simulations of the static potential and the electric flux-tube profile for varying fermion masses, which we match to the continuum prediction.

Transverse-spin dependent energy-energy correlators in proton-proton collisions within the dihadron fragmentation framework

We calculate energy-energy correlations for two hadrons produced inside a jet in transversely polarized proton-proton collisions. We make numerical predictions based on a simple model that utilizes a previous global QCD analysis of dihadron fragmentation and transversity parton distribution functions. The results show remarkable agreement with a very recent STAR measurement. We also find the data at large jet transverse momentum have a slight preference for extractions of transversity that are consistent with lattice QCD computations of the nucleon tensor charges. Overall, this work provides further evidence for the underlying non-perturbative mechanism of near-side energy-energy correlators as well as highlights the potential for these observables to probe transverse-spin effects inside the nucleon.

Exploring nuclear modification using one-point energy correlator at the electron-ion collider

We study the one-point energy correlator (OPEC) at both the back-to-back and collinear limits in electron-proton and electron-nucleus collisions. We provide the factorization formalism for the two types of OPEC and present phenomenological predictions in the kinematic region relevant for the future Electron-Ion Collider. Focusing on cold nuclear matter effects in electron-nucleus scattering, we demonstrate that the OPEC serves as a powerful probe of the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) physics and in characterizing the medium-induced transverse momentum broadening in cold nuclear matter.

Parton distributions in the shockwave formalism

In this work, we calculate a broad class of parton distributions - including parton distribution functions (PDFs), transverse-momentum-dependent distributions (TMDs), generalized parton distributions (GPDs), generalized transverse-momentum-dependent distributions (GTMDs), and diffractive parton distributions - directly from their operator-level definition in the shockwave approximation for the target nucleon. This approximation is valid in the high-energy limit of scattering, corresponding to the small-$x$ regime. The shockwave framework allows us to employ the eikonal approximation and express the parton distributions in terms of Wilson-line correlators, naturally formulated within the color-glass condensate effective field theory. We present a comprehensive set of Feynman rules for evaluating parton distributions in this limit, and demonstrate how they can be systematically applied to calculate all phenomenologically relevant leading-twist parton distributions at leading order. This work establishes a unified starting point for future studies that aim to bridge the color-glass condensate approach with the partonic description of the nucleon.

Quantum simulation of real-time current correlators and DIS-inspired observables in the Schwinger model

Hadronic tensors encode the nonperturbative structure of hadrons probed in deep inelastic scattering (DIS), yet their direct evaluation requires real-time evolution that presents a challenge for traditional Euclidean lattice approaches. In this work, we present the first quantum simulation of real-time hadronic current-current correlators in a confining gauge theory, from which DIS-inspired structure functions are extracted as a proof-of-principle demonstration in the Schwinger model, i.e (1+1)-dimensional QED. Using two complementary quantum-simulation strategies -- quantum-circuit and tensor-network methods -- we compute the real-time current-current correlator directly on the lattice and validate our results against exact diagonalization where applicable. From this correlator, we compute the hadronic tensor and determine the longitudinal structure function, the sole nonvanishing DIS observable in two space-time dimensions. Our study demonstrates that quantum simulation offers a viable complementary pathway towards the evaluation of real-time observables relevant for hadronic structure. It also provides a foundation for extending the calculations from Schwinger model to other gauge theories.

Matching collinear factorization with color-glass condensate for inclusive and exclusive deep inelastic scattering

Collinear factorization and color-glass condensate (CGC) effective field theory are generally treated as separate approaches for calculating scattering amplitudes, valid in different kinematic regimes. For deep inelastic scattering at high photon virtuality and high center-of-mass energy, however, both of these approaches should be applicable. By expressing collinear parton distributions and generalized parton distributions in the shockwave approximation, we show that the resulting collinear-factorization amplitudes exactly reproduce the large-$Q^2$ expansion of CGC amplitudes for inclusive deep inelastic scattering, deeply virtual Compton scattering, and deeply virtual meson production. The matching holds directly at the amplitude level and includes both logarithmically enhanced and finite contributions. Our results establish the consistency between collinear factorization and the CGC in their common region of validity, clarify the origin of large momentum logarithms within the CGC framework, and provide a path toward combining high-energy and collinear evolution in a unified description of hadronic structure at small $x$ and large momentum scales.

Hadronic scattering in (1+1)D SU(2) lattice gauge theory from tensor networks

We present a first real-time study of hadronic scattering in a (1+1)-dimensional SU(2) lattice gauge theory with fundamental fermions using tensor-network techniques. Working in the gaugeless Hamiltonian formulation -- where the gauge field is exactly integrated out and no truncation of the electric flux is required -- we investigate scattering processes across sectors of fixed global baryon number $B = 0, 1, 2$. These correspond respectively to meson-meson, meson-baryon, and baryon-baryon collisions. At strong coupling, the $B = 0$ and $B = 2$ channels exhibit predominantly elastic dynamics closely resembling those of the U(1) Schwinger model. In contrast, the mixed $B = 1$ sector shows qualitatively new behavior: meson and baryon wave packets become entangled during the collision, and depending on their initial kinematics, the slower state becomes spatially delocalized while the faster one propagates ballistically. We characterize these processes through local observables, entanglement entropy, and the information-lattice, which together reveal how correlations build up and relax during the interaction. Our results establish a first benchmark for non-Abelian real-time scattering from first principles and open the path toward quantum-simulation studies of baryon-number dynamics and inelastic processes in gauge theories.

Simplified approach to extracting nucleon transversity in collinear factorization using near-side energy-energy correlators

We develop a novel strategy for accessing the transversity parton distribution function (PDF) of the nucleon within collinear factorization using near-side energy-energy correlators in the dihadron fragmentation framework. We show how this removes the complications of previous approaches that must model either intrinsic parton transverse momentum or resonances in the invariant mass distribution of a final-state dihadron. We present leading-order analytical results for transverse-spin observables in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering and electron-positron annihilation, highlighting their close similarity to the expressions one uses in extracting (un)polarized PDFs and (single-hadron) fragmentation functions in collinear factorization. We make predictions for kinematics relevant for existing and future facilities that demonstrate the feasibility of an energy-energy correlator program in extracting the transversity PDF.

Accessing nucleon transversity with one-point energy correlators

We propose a novel probe of the nucleon's transversity distribution, $h_1^q$, using the one-point energy correlator (OPEC), an infrared-and-collinear safe jet substructure observable. We demonstrate that in transversely polarized $p^{\uparrow}p$ collisions, the OPEC exhibits a single-spin asymmetry (SSA) with a clean $\sin(ϕ_s - ϕ_n)$ angular dependence. This method probes SSA over a much wider kinematic range in the angular scale $θ_n$ compared to traditional measurements of hadron transverse momentum~$j_\perp$, establishing a complementary and systematically distinct channel to study the nucleon's three-dimensional structure at RHIC and the future Electron-Ion Collider.

AI-assisted modeling and Bayesian inference of unpolarized quark transverse momentum distributions from Drell-Yan data

We present an extraction of unpolarized quark transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMD PDFs) from Drell-Yan data within a Bayesian inference framework, incorporating artificial intelligence at multiple stages of the analysis. Our analysis is performed at ${\rm N^3LO}$ in perturbative QCD combined with ${\rm N^4LL}$ resummation accuracy. We first employ an AI-driven iterative procedure to explore and rank candidate functional forms for the nonperturbative contributions to TMD PDFs at the initial scale, as well as for the Collins-Soper evolution kernel, using $χ^2$ fits and physics constraints. To enable efficient Bayesian inference, we construct a surrogate model for TMD cross sections by training a machine-learning emulator over the parameter space, replacing computationally expensive repeated evaluations and allowing scalable sampling with an affine-invariant Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) ensemble. Using this framework, we perform a global analysis of Drell-Yan data from fixed-target, RHIC, and LHC experiments and extract TMD PDFs with quantified uncertainties. We compare the results with those obtained using the replica method and highlight differences in the resulting uncertainty estimates.

Quantum simulation of baryon scattering in SU(2) lattice gauge theory
