Holographic superconductors with hidden Fermi surfaces

In this paper, we investigate a holographic model of superconductor with hidden Fermi surfaces, which was defined by the logarithmic violation of area law of entanglement entropy. We works in fully back-reacted background using standard Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton action with additional complex scalar filed which was charged under the Maxwell field. Particularly, we analyze the behavior of entanglement entropy during the phase transition. At the critical point, the finite part of the entanglement entropy has a discontinuity of slope and tends to a lower value in the superconducting phase all the way down to the zero temperature limit, indicating the reorganization of degrees of freedom of the system across the phase transition.

p-wave superconductors in dilaton gravity

In this paper, we study peculiar properties of p-wave superconductors in dilaton gravity. The scale invariance of the bulk geometry is effectively broken due to the existence of dilaton. By coupling the dilaton to the non-Abelian gauge field, i.e., $-\frac14 e^{-βΦ} F^a_{μν}F^{aμν}$, we find that the dissipative conductivity of the normal phase decreases and approaches zero at the zero frequency as $β$ increases. Intuitively, the system behaves more and more like an insulator. When the hairy solution is turned on, the system crosses a critical point to the superconducting phase. We find that the critical chemical potential decreases with the increasing of $β$ and the maximum height of the conductivity is suppressed gradually which are consistent with our intuition for insulator/supercondutor transition.

Holographic superconductors with hyperscaling violation

We investigate holographic superconductors in asympototically geometries with hyperscaling violation. The mass of the scalar field decouples from the UV dimension of the dual scalar operator and can be chosen as negative as we want, without disturbing the Breitenlohner-Freedman bound. We first numerically find that the scalar condenses below a critical temperature and a gap opens in the real part of the conductivity, indicating the onset of superconductivity. We further analytically explore the effects of the hyperscaling violation on the superconducting transition temperature. We find that the critical temperature increases with the increasing of hyperscaling violation.

Dynamic Mott gap from holographic fermions in geometries with hyperscaling violation

We investigate a dynamically generated Mott gap from holographic fermions in asymptotically geometries with hyperscaling violation by employing a bulk dipole coupling for the fermion field. We find that when the coupling strength increases the spectral function first transfers to the negative frequency region but soon redistributes to the positive region. A stable gap and two bands emerges for all momentum when the coupling strength beyonds a critical value. Generally, The upper band on the positive frequency axis is much sharper than the lower band on the negative side. When the diploe coupling increases further, the gap becomes larger and the up band still keeps sharp while the lower band disperses and widens, concentrating on the small momentum region. We also find that the bands will be smoothed out gradually with the increasing of hyperscaling violation.

Holographic Entanglement Entropy and Hidden Fermi surfaces

We prove that the purely classical gravity dual of Fermi and non-Fermi liquids exist by employing the logarithmic behavior of entanglement entropy to probe Fermi surfaces. For isotropic systems, the logarithmic behavior originates only from UV-IR intermediate regions of the minimal area surface. For anisotropic systems, the surfaces' configuration becomes largely modified by spatial anisotropy and series of solutions exist. By imposing the null energy condition we show that the specific heat behaves as $C\propto T^α$ where $α\leq1$, in both systems. In the end, we also present an effective gravity modle for anisotropic background.
