Quasinormal modes of a rotating loop quantum black hole

We investigate the quasinormal modes of a massless scalar field on an effective rotating loop quantum black hole background, constructed from a covariant spherical model via an improved Newman-Janis algorithm. Using the continued fraction method, we compute the spectrum for both fundamental and overtone modes, and systematically analyze how the frequencies depend on the quantum correction, spin, and angular structure of the perturbation. For all fundamental modes, increasing the quantum gravity correction monotonically reduces both the oscillation frequency and the damping rate, signaling slower oscillations and prolonged decay. Rotation imprints a nontrivial modulation: for a spherically symmetric perturbation, the real frequency displays a crossover as the spin grows, whereas this feature is suppressed once angular momentum is turned on; further activating the azimuthal component enhances the frequency and reduces the damping even more strongly. In the overtone sector, the rotating solution retains the hallmark quantum gravitational signatures of the spherical case - overtone outbursts and non-monotonic evolution - with rotation shifting these phenomena to weaker quantum corrections. Nonzero orbital angular momentum suppresses the outbursts, while the azimuthal degree of freedom boosts the frequency, giving rise to novel spectral inversions among higher overtones. Our results confirm that the effective rotating metric captures essential loop quantum gravity features, providing clear theoretical benchmarks for black hole spectroscopy and future gravitational-wave observations.

Quasinormal modes of charged covariant effective black holes with a cosmological constant

In this paper, we investigate the quasinormal modes of two covariant effective black holes characterized by the quantum parameter $ζ$, charge $Q$, and cosmological constant $Λ$, under the scalar perturbation. By employing the pseudo-spectral method, we numerically calculate the quasinormal frequencies and analyze the influence of $ζ$ on the spectra with respect to $Q$. Our results demonstrate that while the quantum parameter $ζ$ significantly modifies the quasinormal frequency spectrum, the non-monotonic behavior and overtone outbursts persist. Notably, the impact of quantum gravity on the overtone outbursts is not merely limited to enhancement or suppression; instead, it introduces additional spectral features. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis of the full quasinormal mode spectrum reveals rich interactions between complex and purely imaginary modes, including damping-rate crossings and merging-splitting behavior. These phenomena typically accompany overtone outbursts in near-extremal regimes, suggesting a potential connection between mode interactions and overtone outbursts. This work emphasizes the necessity of analyzing the full quasinormal frequency spectrum rather than focussing solely on fundamental modes, and provides novel insights into its underlying spectral structures.

Quasinormal modes of a d-dimensional regular black hole featuring an integrable singularity

In this paper, we exhaustively investigate the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a probe scalar field over a d-dimensional regular black hole (BH) characterized by the parameter A. The quasinormal frequencies (QNFs) exhibit different behaviors with respect to the parameter A for d = 4 and d > 4. Firstly, the trends of QNFs with respect to A exhibit completely opposite patterns for the case of d = 4 and d > 4. Secondly, in the 4-dimensional regular BH, a non-monotonic behavior with respect to A is observed in the imaginary part of the fundamental modes with vanishing angular quantum number. In contrast, this non-monotonic behavior only appears in the overtones when d > 4. Thirdly, an overtone outburst accompanied by an oscillatory patter is observed only in the case of d > 4, but not in d = 4.
