DAFMSVC: One-Shot Singing Voice Conversion with Dual Attention Mechanism and Flow Matching

Singing Voice Conversion (SVC) transfers a source singer's timbre to a target while keeping melody and lyrics. The key challenge in any-to-any SVC is adapting unseen speaker timbres to source audio without quality degradation. Existing methods either face timbre leakage or fail to achieve satisfactory timbre similarity and quality in the generated audio. To address these challenges, we propose DAFMSVC, where the self-supervised learning (SSL) features from the source audio are replaced with the most similar SSL features from the target audio to prevent timbre leakage. It also incorporates a dual cross-attention mechanism for the adaptive fusion of speaker embeddings, melody, and linguistic content. Additionally, we introduce a flow matching module for high quality audio generation from the fused features. Experimental results show that DAFMSVC significantly enhances timbre similarity and naturalness, outperforming state-of-the-art methods in both subjective and objective evaluations.

Asymmetrical Filtering Impairments Mitigation for Digital- Subcarrier-Multiplexing Transmissions Enabled by Multiplication-free K-State Reserved Complex MLSE

We propose a multiplication-free K-state reserved complex maximum-likelihood-sequence-estimation (MLSE) to mitigate asymmetrical filtering impairments in digital-subcarrier-multiplexing transmissions. A required optical-to-noise ratio of 1.63dB over the conventional real MLSE is obtained after transmitting 90 GBaud DSCM DP-16QAM signal over 14 WSSs without multiplications.

Stabilization of the bias point in MZM modulators

This article mainly introduces the role of MZM in practical communication systems, the materials used to make MZM modulators such as lithium niobate, and its working principle. It also explains why it changes due to environmental factors. This leads to the introduction of a method that controls the stable points of MZM by algorithmically controlling the voltage, and the algorithm is verified through experiments. Finally, a summary and outlook on the future development of MZM are provided.

Test-Time Scaling with Reflective Generative Model

We introduce our first reflective generative model MetaStone-S1, which obtains OpenAI o3-mini's performance via the new Reflective Generative Form. The new form focuses on high-quality reasoning trajectory selection and contains two novelties: 1) A unified interface for policy and process reward model: we share the backbone network and use task-specific heads for reasoning trajectory predicting and scoring respectively, introducing only 53M extra parameters for trajectory scoring. 2) Eliminating the reliance on process-level annotation: we provide a self-supervised process reward model, which can directly learn the high-quality reasoning trajectory selection from the outcome reward. Equipped with the reflective generative form, MetaStone-S1 is naturally suitable for test-time scaling, and we provide three reasoning effort modes (low, medium, and high) based on the controllable thinking length. Experiments demonstrate that our MetaStone-S1 achieves comparable performance to OpenAI o3-mini's series with only 32B parameter size. To support the research community, we have open-sourced MetaStone-S1 at https://github.com/MetaStone-AI/MetaStone-S1.

Abnormal planar Hall effect and disentanglement of incoherent and coherent transport in a Kondo lattice

The nature of localized-itinerant transition in Kondo lattice systems remains a mystery despite intensive investigations in past decades. While it is often identified from the coherent peak in magnetic resistivity, recent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and ultrafast optical spectroscopy revealed a precursor incoherent region with band bending and hybridization fluctuations. This raises the question of how the coherent heavy-electron state is developed from an incoherent background of fluctuating localized moments and then established at sufficiently low temperatures. Here, on the example of the quasi-one-dimensional Kondo lattice compound CeCo$_2$Ga$_8$, we show that planar Hall effect and planar anisotropic magnetoresistance measurements provide an effective way to disentangle the incoherent Kondo scattering contribution and the coherent heavy-electron contribution, and a multi-stage process is directly visualized with lowering temperature by their distinct angle-dependent patterns in magneto-transport. Our idea may be extended to other measurements and thereby opens up a pathway for systematically investigating the fundamental physics of Kondo lattice coherence.

Hydraulic performance study of hollow adaptive variable pitch tidal energy turbine

To address the challenges of bidirectional tidal energy utilization efficiency and operational reliability of tidal turbines under low-flow conditions, this paper presents a novel hollow adaptive variable-pitch tidal energy generator based on symmetric airfoil design. In this document, the hydrodynamic performance of the device is analyzed by CFD method, and the energy capture and thrust load characteristics of the turbine are analyzed and discussed. The simulation results show that the power coefficient of the three-bladed turbine is better than that of the four-bladed and five-bladed turbine in the range of 2-4 tip speed ratios at a pitch angle of 10°, and the optimum power coefficient is 36.8%, which is higher than that of the ordinary axisymmetric wing turbine in terms of its energy acquisition efficiency. Its optimal power coefficient is 36.8%, and its energy efficiency is higher than that of ordinary axial symmetrical wing turbines.

Sliced Elastic Distance for Evaluating Amplitude and Phase Differences in Precipitation Models

Climate model evaluation plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of climatological predictions. However, existing statistical evaluation methods often overlook time misalignment of events in a system's evolution, which can lead to a failure in identifying specific model deficiencies. This issue is particularly relevant for climate variables that involve time-sensitive events such as the monsoon season. To more comprehensively evaluate climate fields, we introduce a new vector-valued metric, the sliced elastic distance, through kernel convolution-derived slices. This metric simultaneously and separately accounts for spatial and temporal variability by decomposing the total distance between model simulations and observational data into three components: amplitude differences, timing variability, and bias (translation). We use the sliced elastic distance to assess CMIP6 precipitation simulations against observational data, evaluating amplitude and phase distances at both global and regional scales. In addition, we conduct a detailed phase analysis of the Indian Summer Monsoon to quantify timing biases in the onset and retreat of the monsoon season across the CMIP6 models.

Duo Streamers: A Streaming Gesture Recognition Framework

Gesture recognition in resource-constrained scenarios faces significant challenges in achieving high accuracy and low latency. The streaming gesture recognition framework, Duo Streamers, proposed in this paper, addresses these challenges through a three-stage sparse recognition mechanism, an RNN-lite model with an external hidden state, and specialized training and post-processing pipelines, thereby making innovative progress in real-time performance and lightweight design. Experimental results show that Duo Streamers matches mainstream methods in accuracy metrics, while reducing the real-time factor by approximately 92.3%, i.e., delivering a nearly 13-fold speedup. In addition, the framework shrinks parameter counts to 1/38 (idle state) and 1/9 (busy state) compared to mainstream models. In summary, Duo Streamers not only offers an efficient and practical solution for streaming gesture recognition in resource-constrained devices but also lays a solid foundation for extended applications in multimodal and diverse scenarios.

AutoMR: A Universal Time Series Motion Recognition Pipeline

In this paper, we present an end-to-end automated motion recognition (AutoMR) pipeline designed for multimodal datasets. The proposed framework seamlessly integrates data preprocessing, model training, hyperparameter tuning, and evaluation, enabling robust performance across diverse scenarios. Our approach addresses two primary challenges: 1) variability in sensor data formats and parameters across datasets, which traditionally requires task-specific machine learning implementations, and 2) the complexity and time consumption of hyperparameter tuning for optimal model performance. Our library features an all-in-one solution incorporating QuartzNet as the core model, automated hyperparameter tuning, and comprehensive metrics tracking. Extensive experiments demonstrate its effectiveness on 10 diverse datasets, achieving state-of-the-art performance. This work lays a solid foundation for deploying motion-capture solutions across varied real-world applications.

Singing Voice Conversion with Accompaniment Using Self-Supervised Representation-Based Melody Features

Melody preservation is crucial in singing voice conversion (SVC). However, in many scenarios, audio is often accompanied with background music (BGM), which can cause audio distortion and interfere with the extraction of melody and other key features, significantly degrading SVC performance. Previous methods have attempted to address this by using more robust neural network-based melody extractors, but their performance drops sharply in the presence of complex accompaniment. Other approaches involve performing source separation before conversion, but this often introduces noticeable artifacts, leading to a significant drop in conversion quality and increasing the user's operational costs. To address these issues, we introduce a novel SVC method that uses self-supervised representation-based melody features to improve melody modeling accuracy in the presence of BGM. In our experiments, we compare the effectiveness of different self-supervised learning (SSL) models for melody extraction and explore for the first time how SSL benefits the task of melody extraction. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed SVC model significantly outperforms existing baseline methods in terms of melody accuracy and shows higher similarity and naturalness in both subjective and objective evaluations across noisy and clean audio environments.

Flexible Full-Stokes Polarization Engineering by Disorder-Scrambled Metasurfaces

Abstract: The ability to arbitrarily and flexibly control the polarization of light, including both the state of polarization (SoP) and the degree of polarization (DoP), is highly important for quantum optics, polarization imaging, and coherent optical communications. Although metasurfaces have shown promise in polarization control, the few studies focusing on the DoP often lack flexibility in manipulation. Here, we propose a novel approach using a disordered metasurface to flexibly convert natural light into partially polarized light, enabling independent and flexible control over all Stokes parameters. The metasurface is composed of two types of meta-atoms, uniformly distributed with specific quantity ratios, decoupling the design parameters in the process of polarization control, and allowing a one-to-one correspondence between metasurface and polarization spaces. The azimuthal and elevation angles of the SoP on the Poincaré sphere are independently controlled by the meta-atom rotation and size, while the DoP is governed by the quantity ratio. A developed algorithm determines the disordered metasurface arrangement, with theoretical calculations showing an average error of less than 3° for both the azimuthal and elevation angles and a control accuracy of \pm 0.05 for the DoP.

Elastic properties of Cu-6wt\%Ag alloy wires for pulsed magnets investigated by ultrasonic techniques

Conductor materials with good mechanical performance as well as high electrical- and thermal-conductivities are particularly important to break through the current bottle-neck limit ($\sim 100$ T) of pulsed magnets. Here we perform systematic studies on the elastic properties of the Cu-6wt\%Ag alloy wires, a promising candidate material for the new-generation pulsed magnets, by employing two independent ultrasonic techniques - resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (RUS) and ultrasound pulse-echo experiments. Our RUS measurements manifest that the elastic properties of the Cu-6wt\%Ag alloy wires can be improved by an electroplastic drawing procedure as compared with the conventional cold drawing. We also take this chance to test the availability of our newly-built ultrasound pulse-echo facility at Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center (WHMFC, China), and the results suggest that the elastic performance of the electroplastically-drawn Cu-6wt\%Ag alloy wire remains excellent without anomalous softening under extreme conditions, e.g., ultra-high magnetic field up to 50 T, nitrogen / helium cryogenic liquids.

Grain Selection Growth of Soft Metal in Electrochemical Processes

Soft metals like lithium and sodium play a critical role in battery technology owing to their high energy density. Texture formation by grain selection growth of soft metals during electrochemical processes is a crucial factor affecting power and safety. Developing a framework to understand and control grain growth is a multifaceted challenge. Here, a general thermodynamic theory and phase-field model are formulated to study grain selection growth of soft metals. Our study focuses on the interplay between surface energy and atomic mobility-related intrinsic strain energy in grain selection growth. Differences in grain selection growth arise from the anisotropy in surface energy and diffusion barrier of soft metal atoms. Our findings highlight the kinetic limitations of solid-state Li metal batteries, which originate from load stress-induced surface energy anisotropy. These insights lead to the development of an amorphous LixSi1-x (0.50<x<0.79) seed layer, improving the critical current density at room temperature for anode-free Li solid-state batteries through the control of grain selection growth.

Impact of genetic polymorphisms on tacrolimus concentrations and intra-individual variability in recipients of heart transplants during the early post-heart transplantation period

This study aimed to investigate the effects of genetic polymorphisms on tacrolimus blood levels and intra-individual variability in recipients of heart transplants during the early post-transplantation period. Demographic information, concomitant medications, daily tacrolimus dose, trough concentration, and physiological and biochemical information of 87 Chinese recipients of heart transplants were collected. Trough concentrations were determined using a chemiluminescent micro-particle immunoassay, and 17 selected single nucleic acid polymorphisms were genotyped by direct sequencing. We assessed intra-individual variability by calculating the coefficient of variation of tacrolimus trough concentration and analyzed factors associated with tacrolimus concentration and intra-individual variability. Our study found that low body weight and a high percentage of neutrophils significantly influenced the coefficient of variation of tacrolimus. CYP3A5*1D and CYP3A7 rs776744 haplotypes correlated significantly with an intra-individual coefficient of variation of tacrolimus trough concentration during the early postoperative period. Patients with the CYP3A5*1D rs15524 and CYP3A7 rs776744 TT haplotype had a higher coefficient of variation than carriers of the C allele. Genetic polymorphisms in recipients of heart transplants affect tacrolimus metabolism, significantly affecting tacrolimus blood concentration during the early postoperative period. Genotyping before drug administration can help optimize dosing regimens, reduce intra-individual variability, and improve prognosis.

Make Interaction Situated: Designing User Acceptable Interaction for Situated Visualization in Public Environments

Situated visualization blends data into the real world to fulfill individuals' contextual information needs. However, interacting with situated visualization in public environments faces challenges posed by user acceptance and contextual constraints. To explore appropriate interaction design, we first conduct a formative study to identify user needs for data and interaction. Informed by the findings, we summarize appropriate interaction modalities with eye-based, hand-based and spatially-aware object interaction for situated visualization in public environments. Then, through an iterative design process with six users, we explore and implement interactive techniques for activating and analyzing with situated visualization. To assess the effectiveness and acceptance of these interactions, we integrate them into an AR prototype and conduct a within-subjects study in public scenarios using conventional hand-only interactions as the baseline. The results show that participants preferred our prototype over the baseline, attributing their preference to the interactions being more acceptable, flexible, and practical in public.

Diverse Generation while Maintaining Semantic Coordination: A Diffusion-Based Data Augmentation Method for Object Detection

Recent studies emphasize the crucial role of data augmentation in enhancing the performance of object detection models. However, existing methodologies often struggle to effectively harmonize dataset diversity with semantic coordination. To bridge this gap, we introduce an innovative augmentation technique leveraging pre-trained conditional diffusion models to mediate this balance. Our approach encompasses the development of a Category Affinity Matrix, meticulously designed to enhance dataset diversity, and a Surrounding Region Alignment strategy, which ensures the preservation of semantic coordination in the augmented images. Extensive experimental evaluations confirm the efficacy of our method in enriching dataset diversity while seamlessly maintaining semantic coordination. Our method yields substantial average improvements of +1.4AP, +0.9AP, and +3.4AP over existing alternatives on three distinct object detection models, respectively.

68-Channel Highly-Integrated Neural Signal Processing PSoC with On-Chip Feature Extraction, Compression, and Hardware Accelerators for Neuroprosthetics in 22nm FDSOI

Multi-channel electrophysiology systems for recording of neuronal activity face significant data throughput limitations, hampering real-time, data-informed experiments. These limitations impact both experimental neurobiology research and next-generation neuroprosthetics. We present a novel solution that leverages the high integration density of 22nm FDSOI CMOS technology to address these challenges. The proposed highly integrated programmable System-on-Chip comprises 68-channel 0.41 \textmu W/Ch recording frontends, spike detectors, 16-channel 0.87-4.39 \textmu W/Ch action potential and 8-channel 0.32 \textmu W/Ch local field potential codecs, as well as a MAC-assisted power-efficient processor operating at 25 MHz (5.19 \textmu W/MHz). The system supports on-chip training processes for compression, training and inference for neural spike sorting. The spike sorting achieves an average accuracy of 91.48% or 94.12% depending on the utilized features. The proposed PSoC is optimized for reduced area (9 mm2) and power. On-chip processing and compression capabilities free up the data bottlenecks in data transmission (up to 91% space saving ratio), and moreover enable a fully autonomous yet flexible processor-driven operation. Combined, these design considerations overcome data-bottlenecks by allowing on-chip feature extraction and subsequent compression.

$^{27}$Al NMR study of the magnetic Weyl semimetal CeAlGe

Motivated by the recent observations of electronic correlation effect [M. Corasaniti \textit{et al}., Phys. Rev. B \textbf{104}, L121112 (2021)] and topology-stabilized magnetic fluctuations [N. Drucker \textit{et al}., Nat. Commun. \textbf{14}, 5182 (2023)] in the noncentrosymmetric magnetic Weyl semimetal candidate CeAlGe, we performed systematic studies on the local static and dynamic spin susceptibilities by $^{27}$Al nuclear magnetic resonance. Due to the large spin susceptibility from Ce-$4f$ electrons, the theoretically predicted responses from Weyl fermions are overwhelmed. A Knight-shift anomaly is observed below $T^*\sim50$ K, a signature of the onset of coherent Kondo coupling. In addition, an anomalous peak is found in $1/T_1T$ near 15 K, well above the magnetic ordering temperature $T_N \approx 5$ K, which probably is a consequence of topology-stabilized magnetic fluctuations. These results highlight the interplay among electronic correlation, magnetism and band topology in this family of Kondo Weyl semimetals.
