QCD sum rule analysis of hidden strange $1^{++}$ tetraquark masses and radial excitations

We revisit the light tetraquark states with quantum numbers $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ using QCD sum rules, focusing on a complete set of derivative-free diquark-antidiquark interpolating currents. By calculating the operator product expansion up to dimension-eight condensates, we extract the ground-state mass of the hidden-strange $us\bar{u}\bar{s}$ tetraquark from both Laplace sum rules (LSR) and finite-energy sum rules (FESR). Our combined analysis yields $M_{us\bar{u}\bar{s}} = 1.45\pm0.11$~GeV, which agrees well with the mass of the $a_1(1420)$ resonance and supports its tetraquark interpretation. Furthermore, we perform Gaussian sum rule (GSR) analyses to probe radial excitations, adopting a two-resonance narrow-width model. The GSR fit reveals a heavier state with mass $m_2 = 1.86\pm0.12$~GeV and a relative coupling $r = 0.15\pm0.03$ for the lighter state, indicating that the $a_1(1930)$ is a promising candidate for a compact $1^{++}$ tetraquark. We also discuss the dominant decay modes of these tetraquark candidates, emphasizing hidden-strange channels such as $K^*K$ and $f_0(980)\pi$, which can be tested in future experiments.

Microlensing of dark matter models in the Milky Way

We investigate constraints on the abundance of primordial black holes (PBHs) as dark matter (DM) candidates using five years of microlensing data from the OGLE survey. While the majority of OGLE's $\sim\!2000$ microlensing events are well-explained by stellar populations such as brown dwarfs, main-sequence stars, and compact remnants, a subset of six ultrashort-timescale events ($t_E \sim 0.1\text{--}0.3~\mathrm{days}$) may signal the presence of PBHs. Building upon prior work that adopted the Navarro-Frenk-White (NFW) DM profile, we examine how alternative DM halo models -- specifically the Einasto and Burkert profiles, affect microlensing predictions and the constraints on PBH abundance. In light of kinematic data of Milky Way, we could obtain the range of ($r_s, \rho_s$) for both profiles. We computed differential microlensing event rates for both profiles, using the main-sequence star rate as an observational benchmark. Our results show that neither the Einasto nor Burkert profiles reproduce the distribution of main-sequence star events, yet both allow for viable explanations of the ultrashort-timescale events with PBH masses $M_{\mathrm{PBH}} \sim 10^{-5} M_\odot$. Using a Poisson likelihood analysis under the null hypothesis that no PBH is observed in OGLE dataset, we derive $95\%~\text{C.L.}$ upper and lower bounds on $f_{\mathrm{PBH}}$ for both profiles, finding that the constraints are significantly relaxed under Burkert profiles compared to the NFW case. These results show the sensitivity of PBH constraints to the assumed DM halo structure and highlight the importance of accurately modeling the inner Galactic density profile to robustly assess PBH dark matter scenarios.

Revising the Mass of Light Hybrid Mesons: NLO QCD Sum Rules Point to $\phi(2170)$ as a Prime Candidate

We present a comprehensive next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD sum rule analysis for light hybrid mesons with $J^{PC}=1^{--}$, incorporating condensates up to dimension-8 and NLO corrections to the perturbative, gluon condensate, and four-quark condensate contributions. These corrections are found to be substantial and reveal the necessity of contributions beyond leading order. Employing both Laplace (LSR) and Gaussian (GSR) sum rules, our analysis predicts a mass in the conservative range of $2.1-2.4\,\text{GeV}$ for the light $1^{--}$ hybrid. These predictions are significantly lower than previous leading-order (LO) estimates (around $2.9\,\text{GeV}$) and bridge the gap between QCD sum rules and other approaches. Our findings establish the $\phi(2170)$ resonance as a prime candidate for the light vector hybrid meson.

Reinvestigating the semileptonic $B\to D^{(\ast)}\tau\bar{\nu}_{\tau}$ decays in the model independent scenarios and leptoquark models

In this work, we revisit the possible new physics (NP) solutions by analyzing the observables associated with $B\to D^{(\ast)}\tau\bar{\nu}_{\tau}$ decays. To explore the structure of new physics, the form factors of $B\to D^{(\ast)}$ decays play a crucial role. In this study, we utilize the form factor results obtained from a simultaneous fit to Belle data and lattice QCD calculations. Using these form factors, we conduct a global fit of the new physics Wilson coefficients, incorporating the most recent experimental data. Additionally, we use the form factors and Wilson coefficients to make predictions for physical observables, including the lepton flavor universality ratio $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$, polarized observables, and the normalized angular coefficients $\langle I\rangle$'s related to the four-fold decays $B\to D^{\ast}(\to D\pi, D\gamma)\tau\bar{\nu}_{\tau}$. These predictions are calculated in both model-independent scenarios and for three different leptoquark models.

New physics search via angular distribution of $B \rightarrow D^* \ell {\nu}_{\ell}$ decay in the light of the new lattice data

In this article, we investigate the potential of the angular distribution of the $B \rightarrow D^* \ell {\nu}_{\ell}$ process to search for new physics signals. The Belle collaboration has analysed it to constraint $V_{cb}$ and the $B\to D^*$ form factors, under the assumption of the Standard Model. With the newly released lattice QCD data, we can perform a simultaneous fit of the form factors, $V_{cb}$ as well as new physics parameters. We use the Belle data and the lattice data to constrain right-handed new physics. In addition, we also generate unbinned pseudo-dataset and perform a sensitivity study on more general new physics models, using the lattice data.

Unbinned Angular Analysis of $B\to D^*(D\pi)\ell \nu_\ell$ and $C_{V_R}$

A sensitivity study of the unbinned angular analysis of the $B\to D^*(D\pi)\ell \nu_\ell$ decay is presented. In the analysis, it is shown that the Wilson coefficient of the right-handed vector current, $C_{V_R}$, can be measured to precision of 2-4$\%$ using either the full set of normalised angular observables or the forward-backward asymmetry $A_{FB}$ of the charged lepton in 10 $w$ bins. Such angular measurements are independent of the $V_{cb}$ puzzle.

Scrutinizing New Physics in Semi-leptonic $B_{c}\rightarrow J/\psi \tau\nu$ Decay

We perform a global analysis of the $b\to c\tau\nu$ data using the recent lattice results on the $B_c\to J/\psi$ vector and axial-vector form factors. To explore the effects from the tensor operator of new physics beyond the standard model, we determine the tensor form factors by using the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) relations between tensor and (axial-)vector form factors. Based on the lattice+NRQCD form factors, we fit the Wilson coefficients and the new physics couplings in $R_2$, $S_1$ and $U_1$ leptoquark models by including the recently measured $R(\Lambda_c)$ and imposing the relaxed constraint $\mathcal B(B_c\to J/\psi)<30\%$ in light of the recent studies on LEP1 data and $B_c$ lifetime. We give predictions for the experimental observables including $R(J/\psi)$, $P_\tau(J/\psi)$, $F_L(J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal A_{FB}(J/\psi)$ as well as their $q^2$ distribution in new physics scenarios/models. Our results suggest that the longitudinal $\tau$ polarization fraction $P_\tau(J/\psi)$ and the forward-backward asymmetry $\mathcal A_{FB}(J/\psi)$ are useful for testing the $R_2$ leptoquark model.

Unbinned Angular Analysis of $B\to D^*\ell \nu_\ell$ and the Right-handed Current

In this article, we perform a sensitivity study of an unbinned angular analysis of the $B\to D^*\ell \nu_\ell$ decay, including the contributions from the right-handed current. We show that the angular observable can constrain very strongly the right-handed current without the intervention of the yet unsolved $V_{cb}$ puzzle.

Mixing of X and Y states from QCD Sum Rules analysis

We study $\bar{Q}Q\bar{q}q$ and $\bar{Q}qQ\bar{q}$ states as mixed states in QCD sum rules. By calculating the two-point correlation functions of pure states of their corresponding currents, we review the mass and coupling constant predictions of $J^{PC}=1^{++}$, $1^{--}$, $1^{-+}$ states. By calculating the two-point mixed correlation functions of $\bar{Q}Q\bar{q}q$ and $\bar{Q}qQ\bar{q}$ currents, and we estimate the mass and coupling constants of the corresponding `"physical state" that couples to both $\bar{Q}Q\bar{q}q$ and $\bar{Q}qQ\bar{q}$ currents. Our results suggest that $1^{++}$ states are more likely mixing from $\bar{Q}Q\bar{q}q$ and $\bar{Q}qQ\bar{q}$ components, while for $1^{--}$ and $1^{-+}$ states, there is less mixing between $\bar{Q}Q\bar{q}q$ and $\bar{Q}qQ\bar{q}$. Our results suggest the $Y$ series of states have more complicated components.

New Physics in $b\to s\ell\ell$ anomalies and its implications for the complementary neutral current decays

We study the Standard Model and the new physics predictions for the lepton-flavour-universality violating (LFUV) ratios in various $b\to s \ell^+\ell^-$ channels with scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector, and $\Lambda$ baryon final states, considering both unpolarized and polarized final state hadrons. In order to formulate physical observables, we use the model independent effective Hamiltonian approach and employ the helicity formalism. We provide the explicit expressions of the helicity amplitudes in terms of the Wilson coefficients and the hadronic form factors by using the same kinematical configuration and polarization conventions for all the decay channels. We perform the numerical analysis with new physics scenarios selected from the recent global fits to $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ data, having specific new physics model interpretations. We find that some of the LFUV ratios for these complementary channels in different kinematical regions have high sensitivity to new physics and the future measurements of them in Belle II and LHCb experiments, along with testing new physics/LFUV, can help to distinguish among some of the different new physics possibilities.

Transformation of scalar couplings between Coleman-Weinberg and MS schemes

The Coleman-Weinberg (CW) renormalization scheme for renormalization-group improvement of the effective potential is particularly valuable for CW symmetry-breaking mechanisms (including the challenging case of models with multiple scalar fields). CW mechanism is typically studied using models with classical scale invariance which not only provide a possibility for an alternative symmetry breaking mechanism but also partially address the gauge hierarchies through dimensional transmutation. As outlined in our discussion section, when the couplings are not large, models with CW symmetry-breaking mechanisms have also been shown to naturally provide the strong first-order phase transition necessary for stochastic gravitational wave signals. A full understanding of the CW-MS scheme transformation of couplings thus becomes important in the era of gravitational wave detection and precision coupling measurements. A generalized Coleman-Weinberg (GCW) renormalization scheme is formulated and methods for transforming scalar self-couplings between the GCW and MS (minimal-subtraction) renormalization schemes are developed. Scalar $\lambda\Phi^4$ theory with global $O(4)$ symmetry is explicitly studied up to six-loop order to explore the magnitude of this scheme transformation effect on the couplings. The dynamical rescaling of renormalization scales between the GCW and MS schemes can lead to significant (order of 10\%) differences in the coupling at any order, and consequently GCW-MS scheme transformation effects must be considered within precision determinations of scalar couplings in extensions of the Standard Model.

Revisit to the $b\to c\tau\nu$ transition: in and beyond the SM

We perform an analysis of the $b\to c\tau\nu$ data, including $R(D^{(*)})$, $R(J/\psi)$, $P_\tau(D^{*})$ and $F_L^{D^*}$, within and beyond the Standard Model (SM). We fit the $B\to D^{(*)}$ hadronic form factors in the HQET parametrization to the lattice and the light-cone sum rule (LCSR) results, applying the general strong unitarity bounds corresponding to $J^P=1^-$, $1^+$, $0^-$ and $0^+$. Using the obtained HQET relations between helicity amplitudes, we give the strong unitarity bounds on individual helicity amplitudes, which can be used in the BGL fits. Using the fitted form factors and taking into account the most recent Belle measurement of $R(D^{(*)})$ we investigate the model-independent and the leptoquark model explanations of the $b\to c\tau\nu$ anomalies. Specifically, we consider the one-operator, the two-operator new physics (NP) scenarios and the NP models with a single $R_2$, $S_1$ or $U_1$ leptoquark which is supposed to be able to address the $b\to c\tau\nu$ anomalies, and our results show that the $R_2$ leptoquark model is in tension with the limit $\mathcal B(B_c\to \tau\nu)<10\%$. Furthermore, we give predictions for the various observables in the SM and the NP scenarios/leptoquark models based on the present form factor study and the analysis of NP.

Vector and Scalar Mesons' Mixing from QCD Sum Rules

We study $\bar qq$-hybrid mixing for the light vector mesons and $\bar qq$-glueball mixing for the light scalar mesons in Monte-Carlo based QCD Laplace sum rules. By calculating the two-point correlation function of a vector $\bar q\gamma_\mu q$ (scalar $\bar q q$) current and a hybrid (glueball) current we are able to estimate the mass and the decay constants of the corresponding mixed "physical state" that couples to both currents. Our results do not support strong quark/gluonic mixing for either the $1^{--}$ or the $0^{++}$ states.

Testing Leptoquark and $Z^{\prime}$ Models via $B\to K_{1}(1270,1400)\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ Decays

The measurements of $R_{K^{(*)}}=\mathcal B(B\to K^{(*)}\mu^{+}\mu^{-})/\mathcal B(B\to K^{(*)}e^{+}e^{-})$ in recent years have hinted lepton flavor non-universality and thus drawn widespread attentions. If these anomalies are induced by new physics (NP), deviations from the SM predictions may also be found in other channels via the same process at the quark level. In this work, we study in $B\to K_{1}(1270,1400)\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ decays the effects of two popular classes of NP models which can address the $b\to s$ anomalies, i.e. the leptoquark models and the $Z^{\prime}$ models. By assuming that NP only affects the $b\to s\mu^+\mu^-$ transition, we find that the unpolarized and polarized lepton flavor universality (LFU) ratios $R_{K_1^{(L,T)}(1270)}$ are useful to distinguish among the NP models (scenarios) and the SM because they are sensitive to the NP effects and insensitive to the mixing angle $\theta_{K_1}$, while the $R_{K_1^{(L,T)}(1400)}$ are sensitive to both NP and $\theta_{K_1}$. Another ratio $R_\mu(K_1)=\mathcal B(B\to K_1(1400)\mu^+\mu^-)/\mathcal B(B\to K_1(1270)\mu^+\mu^-)$ is shown to depend weekly on the effects from the NP models (scenarios) under consideration, and thus can be used to determine the $\theta_{K_1}$ and complement the $R_{K_1^{(L,T)}}$ in the probe for NP.

Exotic tetraquark states with $J^{PC}=0^{+-}$

We use the Laplace/Borel sum rules (LSR) and the finite energy/local duality sum rules (FESR) to investigate the non-strange $ud\bar u\bar d$ and hidden-strange $us\bar u\bar s$ tetraquark states with exotic quantum numbers $J^{PC}=0^{+-}$ . We systematically construct all eight possible tetraquark currents in this channel without covariant derivative operator. Our analyses show that the $ud\bar u\bar d$ systems have good behaviour of sum rule stability and expansion series convergence in both the LSR and FESR analyses, while the LSR for the $us\bar u\bar s$ states do not associate with convergent OPE series in the stability regions and only the FESR can provide valid results. We give the mass predictions $1.43\pm0.09$ GeV and $1.54\pm0.12$ GeV for the $ud\bar u\bar d$ and $us\bar u\bar s$ tetraquark states, respectively. Our results indicate that the $0^{+-}$ isovector $us\bar u\bar s$ tetraquark may only decay via weak interaction mechanism, e.g. $X_{us\bar{u}\bar{s}}\to K\pi\pi$, since its strong decays are forbidden by kinematics and the symmetry constraints on the exotic quantum numbers. It is predicted to be very narrow, if it does exist. The $0^{+-}$ isoscalar $us\bar u\bar s$ tetraquark is also predicted to be not very wide because its dominate decay mode $X_{us\bar{u}\bar{s}}\to\phi\pi\pi$ is in $P$-wave.

Footprints of New Physics in $b\to c\tau\nu$ Transitions

In this work, we perform a combined analysis of the $R(D)$, $R(D^*)$, and $R(J/\psi)$ anomalies in a model-independent manner based on the general framework of the four-fermion effective field theory, paying special attention to the use of the hadronic form factors. For the $B\to D(D^*)$ transition form factors, we use the HQET parametrization that includes the higher order corrections of $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s,\Lambda_{\mathrm{QCD}}/m_{b,c})$ and was determined recently from a fit to lattice QCD and light-cone sum rule results in complementary kinematical regions of the momentum transfer. For the $B_c\to J/\psi(\eta_c)$ transitions, we use the form factors calculated in the covariant light-front quark model, which are found to be well consistent with the preliminary lattice results. With this particular treatment of hadronic matrix elements, in our analysis the two classes of vector operators are shown to be the most favored single new physics (NP) operators by the current experimental constraints within $2\sigma$ and the LEP1 data on $Br(B_c\to \tau\nu)$ as well as the minimum $\chi^2$ fit, while the tensor operator is also allowed but severely constrained, and the scalar ones are excluded. Using the favored ranges and fitted values of the Wilson coefficients of the single NP operators, we also give a prognosis for the physical observables such as the ratios of decay rates ($R(D(D^*)), R(J/\psi(\eta_c))$) and other polarized observables as well as the $q^2$ distributions.

The Mass and Decay Properties of the $1^{-+}$ Light Hybrid Meson

We calculate the complete form of the dimension-8 condensate contributions in the two-point correlator of the ($1^{-+}$,$0^{++}$) light hybrid current considering the operator mixing under renormalization. We find the inclusion these higher power corrections as well as the update of $\langle g^3G^3\rangle$ increase the QCD sum rule mass prediction for the $1^{-+}$ light hybrid. The obtained conservative mass range 1.72--2.60 GeV does not favor the $\pi_1(1400)$ and the $\pi_1(1600)$ to be pure hybrid states and suggests the $\pi_1(2015)$ observed by E852 is more likely to have much of a hybrid constituent. We also study the $b_1\pi$ and $\rho\pi$ decay patterns of the $1^{-+}$ light hybrid with light-cone QCD sum rules. We obtain a relatively large partial decay width of the $b_1\pi$ mode, which is consistent with the predictions from the flux tube models and lattice QCD. More interestingly, using the tensor interpolating current we find the partial decay width of the $\rho\pi$ mode is small due to the absence of the leading twist contribution in the light-cone expansion of the correlation function.

Constraint on the light quark mass $m_q$ from QCD Sum Rules in the $I=0$ scalar channel

In this paper, we reanalyze the $I=0$ scalar channel with the improved Monte-Carlo based QCD sum rules, which combines the rigorous H\"older-inequality-determined sum rule window and a two Breit-Wigner type resonances parametrization for the phenomenological spectral density that satisfies the the low-energy theorem for the scalar form factor. Considering the uncertainties of the QCD parameters and the experimental masses and widths of the scalar resonances $\sigma$ and $f_0(980)$, we obtain a prediction for light quark mass $m_q(2\,\textrm{GeV})$ = $\frac{1}{2}(m_u(2\,\textrm{GeV})$ + $m_d(2\,\textrm{GeV}))$ = $4.7^{+0.8}_{-0.7}\,\textrm{MeV}$, which is consistent with the PDG (Particle Data Group) value and QCD sum rule determinations in the pseudoscalar channel. This agreement provides a consistent framework connecting QCD sum rules and low-energy hadronic physics. We also obtain the decay constants of $\sigma$ and $f_0(980)$ at 2 GeV, which are approximately $0.64-0.83$ GeV and $0.40-0.48$ GeV respectively.
