Quasinormal modes of massive scalar fields in five-dimensional Myers-Perry black holes with two arbitrary rotation parameters

We investigate the quasinormal modes of massive scalar fields in the background of five-dimensional Myers-Perry black holes. In particular, we explore the case for Myers-Perry black holes with two arbitrary rotation parameters. Since the Klein-Gordon equation for the scalar field is separable, we numerically compute the scalar quasinormal modes by using the radial and angular equations. Two methods, the continued fraction method and matrix method, are used in the numerical calculation. We find that all obtained modes have negative imaginary parts and are decaying modes. We also consider the impact of the rotation parameters, scalar field mass $μ$ and azimuthal numbers on the scalar quasinormal modes. Besides, when the scalar mass $μ$ becomes relatively large, we also find the long-living scalar modes. Our numerical results also demonstrate the symmetries of the QNMs explicitly.

Shadows and photon rings of a quantum black hole

Recently, a black hole model in loop quantum gravity has been proposed by Lewandowski, Ma, Yang and Zhang (Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{130}, 101501 (2023)). The metric tensor of the quantum black hole (QBH) is a suitably modified Schwarzschild one. In this paper, we calculate the radius of light ring and obtain the linear approximation of it with respect to the quantum correction parameter $α$: $r_{l} \simeq 3 M - \fracα{9 M}$. We then assume the QBH is backlit by a large, distant plane of uniform, isotropic emission and calculate the radius of the black hole shadow and its linear approximation: $r_{s} = 3 \sqrt{3} M - \fracα{6 \left(\sqrt{3} M\right)}$. We also consider the photon ring structures in the shadow when the impact parameter $b$ of the photon approaches to a critical impact parameter $b_{\textrm{c}}$, and obtain a formula for estimating the deflection angle, which is $φ_{\textrm{def}} = - \frac{\sqrt{2}}{ωr_{l}^2}\log{\left(b - b_c\right) + \widetilde{C}(b)}$. We also numerically plot the images of shadows and photon rings of the QBH in three different illumination models and compare them with that of a Schwarzschild in each model. It is found that we could distinguish the quantum black hole with a Schwarzschild black hole by the shadow images in certain specific illumination model.

Superradiant stability of the Kerr black hole

We know that Kerr black holes are stable for specific conditions. In this article, we use algebraic methods to prove the stability of the Kerr black hole against certain scalar perturbations. This provides new results for the previously obtained superradiant stability conditions of Kerr black hole. Hod proved that Kerr black holes are stable to massive perturbations in the regime $μ\ge \sqrt 2 m{Ω_H}$. In this article, we consider some other situations of the stability of the black hole in the complementary parameter region$ \sqrt 2 ω< μ< \sqrt 2 m{Ω_H}.$

Superradiant stability of the Kerr black holes

We study the superradiant stability of the system of a Kerr black hole and a massive scalar perturbation. It was proved previously that this system is superradiantly stable when $μ\geq \sqrt{2}mΩ_H$, where $μ$ is the proper mass of the scalar, $m$ is the azimuthal number of the scalar mode, and $Ω_H$ is the angular velocity of the Kerr black hole horizon. Our study is a complementary work of this result. We analytically prove that in the complementary parameter region $μ<\sqrt{2}mΩ_H$, when the parameters of scalar perturbation and Kerr black hole satisfy two simple inequalities, $ω<\fracμ{\sqrt{2}}$,~ $\frac{r_-}{r_+}<0.802$, the system is also superradiantly stable.
