Sharp Well-posedness for the Benjamin Equation

Having the ill-posedness in the range $s<-3/4$ of the Cauchy problem for the Benjamin equation with an initial $H^{s}({\mathbb R})$ data, we prove that the already-established local well-posedness in the range $s>-3/4$ of this initial value problem is extendable to $s=-3/4$ but also that such a well-posed property is globally valid for $s\in [-3/4,\infty)$.

On the local regularity of the KP-I equation in anisotropic Sobolev space

We prove that the KP-I initial-value problem \begin{eqnarray*} \begin{cases} \partial_tu+\partial_x^3u-\partial_x^{-1}\partial_y^2u+\partial_x(u^2/2)=0 {on}{\R}^2_{x,y}\times {\R}_t; u(x,y,0)=ϕ(x,y), \end{cases} \end{eqnarray*} is locally well-posed in the space \begin{eqnarray*} H^{1,0}(\R^2)=\{ϕ\in L^2(\R^2): \ \normϕ_{H^{1,0}(\R^2)}\approx\normϕ_{L^2}+\norm{\partial_xϕ}_{L^2}<\infty\}. \end{eqnarray*}

Global Well-posedness of Korteweg-de Vries equation in $H^{-3/4}(\R)$

We prove that the Korteweg-de Vries initial-value problem is globally well-posed in $H^{-3/4}(\R)$ and the modified Korteweg-de Vries initial-value problem is globally well-posed in $H^{1/4}(\R)$. The new ingredient is that we use directly the contraction principle to prove local well-posedness for KdV equation at $s=-3/4$ by constructing some special resolution spaces in order to avoid some 'logarithmic divergence' from the high-high interactions. Our local solution has almost the same properties as those for $H^s (s>-3/4)$ solution which enable us to apply the I-method to extend it to a global solution.

Local Well-posedness for dispersion generalized Benjamin-Ono equations in Sobolev spaces

We prove that the Cauchy problem for the dispersion generalized Benjamin-Ono equation \[\partial_t u+|\partial_x|^{1+α}\partial_x u+uu_x=0,\ u(x,0)=u_0(x),\] is locally well-posed in the Sobolev spaces $H^s$ for $s>1-α$ if $0\leq α\leq 1$. The new ingredient is that we develop the methods of Ionescu, Kenig and Tataru \cite{IKT} to approach the problem in a less perturbative way, in spite of the ill-posedness results of Molinet, Saut and Tzvetkovin \cite{MST}. Moreover, as a bi-product we prove that if $0<α\leq 1$ the corresponding modified equation (with the nonlinearity $\pm uuu_x$) is locally well-posed in $H^s$ for $s\geq 1/2-α/4$.

Global well-posedness and limit behavior for the modified finite-depth-fluid equation

Considering the Cauchy problem for the modified finite-depth-fluid equation $\partial_tu-\G_δ(\partial_x^2u)\mp u^2u_x=0, u(0)=u_0$, where $\G_δf=-i \ft ^{-1}[\coth(2πδξ)-\frac{1}{2πδξ}]\ft f$, $δ\ges 1$, and $u$ is a real-valued function, we show that it is uniformly globally well-posed if $u_0 \in H^s (s\geq 1/2)$ with $\norm{u_0}_{L^2}$ sufficiently small for all $δ\ges 1$. Our result is sharp in the sense that the solution map fails to be $C^3$ in $H^s (s<1/2)$. Moreover, we prove that for any $T>0$, its solution converges in $C([0,T]; H^s)$ to that of the modified Benjamin-Ono equation if $δ$ tends to $+\infty$.

Local Well-posedness and a priori bounds for the modified Benjamin-Ono equation without using a gauge transformation

We prove that the complex-valued modified Benjamin-Ono (mBO) equation is locally wellposed if the initial data $ϕ$ belongs to $H^s$ for $s\geq 1/2$ with $\normϕ_{L^2}$ sufficiently small without performing a gauge transformation. Hence the real-valued mBO equation is globally wellposed for those initial datas, which is contained in the results of C. Kenig and H. Takaoka \cite{KenigT} where the smallness condition is not needed. We also prove that the real-valued $H^\infty$ solutions to mBO equation satisfy a priori local in time $H^s$ bounds in terms of the $H^s$ size of the initial data for $s>1/4$.

Global well posedness and inviscid limit for the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation

Considering the Cauchy problem for the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation \begin{eqnarray*} u_t+u_{xxx}+ε|\partial_x|^{2α}u+(u^2)_x=0, \ u(0)=ϕ, \end{eqnarray*} where $0<ε,α\leq 1$ and $u$ is a real-valued function, we show that it is globally well-posed in $H^s\ (s>s_α)$, and uniformly globally well-posed in $H^s (s>-3/4)$ for all $ε\in (0,1)$. Moreover, we prove that for any $T>0$, its solution converges in $C([0,T]; H^s)$ to that of the KdV equation if $ε$ tends to 0.

Decay estimates for a class of wave equations

In this paper we use a unified way studying the decay estimate for a class of dispersive semigroup given by $e^{itϕ(\sqrt{-Δ})}$, where $ϕ: \mathbb{R}^+\to \mathbb{R}$ is smooth away from the origin. Especially, the decay estimates for the solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation and the beam equation are simplified and slightly improved.

$L^p$ Boundedness of Commutators of Riesz Transforms associated to Schrödinger Operator

In this paper we consider $L^p$ boundedness of some commutators of Riesz transforms associated to Schrödinger operator $P=-Δ+V(x)$ on $\mathbb{R}^n, n\geq 3$. We assume that $V(x)$ is non-zero, nonnegative, and belongs to $B_q$ for some $q \geq n/2$. Let $T_1=(-Δ+V)^{-1}V,\ T_2=(-Δ+V)^{-1/2}V^{1/2}$ and $T_3=(-Δ+V)^{-1/2}\nabla$. We obtain that $[b,T_j] (j=1,2,3)$ are bounded operators on $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ when $p$ ranges in a interval, where $b \in \mathbf{BMO}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Note that the kernel of $T_j (j=1,2,3)$ has no smoothness.
